¹In zgodi se potem, da je porazil David Filistejce in jih ponižal. In David je vzel uzdo vladarstva iz rok Filistejcev.

¹And it cometh to pass afterwards that David smiteth the Philistines, and humbleth them, and David taketh the bridle of the metropolis out of the hand of the Philistines.

²Porazil je tudi Moabce in jih premeril z vrvjo, ko jih je dal položiti na tla, in po dve vrvi jih je odmeril v smrt, po eno celo vrv pa, da žive. Tako so Moabci postali podložni Davidu in so mu prinašali darove.

²And he smiteth Moab, and measureth them with a line, causing them to lie down on the earth, and he measureth two lines to put to death, and the fulness of the line to keep alive, and the Moabites are to David for servants, bearers of a present.

³David je tudi porazil Hadadezerja, sina Rehobovega, kralja v Zobi, ko je šel, da si spet pridobi oblast pri veletoku.

³And David smiteth Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah, in his going to bring back his power by the River [Euphrates;]

⁴In David je iz njih ujel tisoč in sedemsto konjikov in dvajset tisoč pešcev ter je ohromil vse vprežne konje, ohranil jih je samo za sto voz.

⁴and David captureth from him a thousand and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen, and David destroyeth utterly the whole of the charioteers, only he leaveth of them a hundred charioteers.

⁵A Sirci so prišli iz Damaska pomagat Hadadezerju, kralju v Zobi. David pa je pobil Sircev dvaindvajset tisoč mož

⁵And Aram of Damascus cometh to give help to Hadadezer king of Zobah, and David smiteth of Aram twenty and two thousand men;

⁶in postavil posadko v Sirijo ob Damasku; tako so postali Sirci Davidu podložni in so mu prinašali darove. Kajti GOSPOD je pomagal Davidu, kamorkoli je šel.

⁶and David putteth garrisons in Aram of Damascus, and Aram is to David for a servant, bearing a present; and Jehovah saveth David whithersoever he hath gone;

⁷In David je vzel zlate ščite, ki so jih imeli hlapci Hadadezerjevi, in jih je prinesel v Jeruzalem.

⁷and David taketh the shields of gold which were on the servants of Hadadezer, and bringeth them to Jerusalem;

⁸In iz Betaha in iz Berotaja, mest Hadadezerjevih, je kralj David vzel mnogo brona.

⁸and from Betah, and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, hath king David taken very much brass.

⁹In ko začuje Toj, kralj v Hamatu, da je David porazil vso vojsko Hadadezerjevo,

⁹And Toi king of Hamath heareth that David hath smitten all the force of Hadadezer,

¹⁰pošlje sina svojega Jorama h kralju Davidu, da ga pozdravi ter mu čestita, da se je bojeval zoper Hadadezerja in ga je porazil; zakaj Toj se je vedno vojskoval s Hadadezerjem. In Joram je prinesel s seboj srebrne, zlate in bronaste posode;

¹⁰and Toi sendeth Joram his son unto king David to ask of him of welfare, and to bless him, (because that he hath fought against Hadadezer, and smiteth him, for a man of wars [with] Toi had Hadadezer been), and in his hand have been vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass,

¹¹te je kralj David tudi posvetil GOSPODU s srebrom in zlatom vred, ki ga je GOSPODU posvetil od vseh narodov, kar si jih je bil podvrgel:

¹¹also them did king David sanctify to Jehovah, with the silver and the gold which he sanctified of all the nations which he subdued:

¹²od Sircev, od Moabcev, od sinov Amonovih, od Filistejcev, od Amalekovcev in iz plena Hadadezerja sina Rehobovega, kralja v Zobi.

¹²of Aram, and of Moab, and of the Bene-Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadadezer son of Rehob king of Zobah.

¹³In David si je pridobil ime, ko se je vrnil, porazivši Sirce v Solni dolini, osemnajst tisoč mož.

¹³And David maketh a name in his turning back from his smiting Aram in the valley of Salt — eighteen thousand;

¹⁴In postavil je posadke v Edomu, po vsem Edomu je postavil posadke, in vsi Edomci so postali Davidovi podložniki. Kajti GOSPOD je pomagal Davidu, kamorkoli je šel.

¹⁴and he putteth in Edom garrisons — in all Edom he hath put garrisons, and all Edom are servants to David; and Jehovah saveth David whithersoever he hath gone.

¹⁵In David je kraljeval vsemu Izraelu, in izvrševal je sodbo in pravičnost vsemu ljudstvu svojemu.

¹⁵And David reigneth over all Israel, and David is doing judgment and righteousness to all his people,

¹⁶Joab pa, sin Zervijin, je bil nad vojsko, in Josafat, sin Ahiludov, je bil deželni letopisec;

¹⁶and Joab son of Zeruiah [is] over the host, and Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud [is] remembrancer,

¹⁷Zadok, sin Ahitubov, in Ahimelek, sin Abiatarjev, sta bila duhovnika, in Seraja je bil pisar;in Benaja, sin Jojadov, je bil nad Keretejci in Peletejci [Domnevno: kraljeva telesna straža.], in sinovi Davidovi so bili prvi dvorjani.

¹⁷and Zadok son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech son of Abiathar, [are] priests, and Seraiah [is] scribe,

¹⁸in Benaja, sin Jojadov, je bil nad Keretejci in Peletejci [Domnevno: kraljeva telesna straža.], in sinovi Davidovi so bili prvi dvorjani.

¹⁸and Benaiah son of Jehoiada [is over] both the Cherethite and the Pelethite, and the sons of David have been ministers.
