1Rotim te torej pred Bogom in Kristusom Jezusom, ki bo sodil žive in mrtve, in pri prihodu njegovem in kraljestvu njegovem:
1I command you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at his appearing and his Kingdom:
2Oznanjaj besedo, ne odnehaj o priliki, nepriliki; prepričuj, kaznuj, opominjaj z vso potrpežljivostjo in s poučevanjem.
2preach the word; be urgent in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with all patience and teaching.
3Kajti pride čas, ko ne bodo prenašali zdravega nauka, temuč po lastnem poželenju si kopičili učitelje, po tem, kakor jih ušesa srbe;
3For the time will come when they will not listen to the sound doctrine, but, having itching ears, will heap up for themselves teachers after their own lusts;
4in od resnice bodo odvračali ušesa in se obračali k basnim.
4and will turn away their ears from the truth, and turn aside to fables.
5Ti pa bodi trezen v vsem, trpi nadloge, opravljaj delo evangelista, izpolnjuj službo svojo.
5But you be sober in all things, suffer hardship, do the work of an evangelist, and fulfill your ministry.
6Kajti jaz bom skoraj žrtvovan, in ločitve moje čas je blizu.
6For I am already being offered, and the time of my departure has come.
7Bojeval sem dobri boj, dokončal tek, ohranil vero;
7I have fought the good fight. I have finished the course. I have kept the faith.
8že mi je pripravljen pravičnosti venec, ki mi ga podeli Gospod tisti dan, pravični sodnik; a ne samo meni, ampak tudi vsem, ki so ljubili prihod njegov.
8From now on, there is stored up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give to me on that day; and not to me only, but also to all those who have loved his appearing.
9Prizadeni si, da prideš skoraj k meni;
9Be diligent to come to me soon,
10zakaj Dema me je zapustil, iz ljubezni do tega sveta, in je potoval v Solun, Krescent v Galacijo, Tit v Dalmacijo.
10for Demas left me, having loved this present world, and went to Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, and Titus to Dalmatia.
11Lukež je sam pri meni. Marka vzemi in pripelji s seboj, kajti koristen mi je za službo.
11Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with you, for he is useful to me for service.

12But I sent Tychicus to Ephesus.
13Plašč, ki sem ga pustil v Troadi pri Karpu, prinesi s seboj, kadar prideš, in knjige, zlasti pergamente.
13Bring the cloak that I left at Troas with Carpus when you come, and the books, especially the parchments.
14Aleksander kovač mi je storil mnogo hudega; Gospod mu povrne po delih njegovih.
14Alexander, the coppersmith, did much evil to me. The Lord will repay him according to his works,
15Njega se tudi ti pazi; kajti silno je nasprotoval besedam našim.
15of whom you also must beware; for he greatly opposed our words.
16O prvem zagovarjanju mojem mi ni bilo nikogar na strani, ampak vsi so me zapustili: naj se jim ne všteva!
16At my first defense, no one came to help me, but all left me. May it not be held against them.
17Gospod pa mi je bil na pomoč in me je ojačil, da se po meni slavno dovrši oznanjevanje in ga čujejo vsi pogani; in otet sem bil levu iz žrela.
17But the Lord stood by me, and strengthened me, that through me the message might be fully proclaimed, and that all the Gentiles might hear; and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
18Gospod me otme vsakega hudega dela in reši v kraljestvo svoje nebeško. Njemu slava na vekov veke! Amen.
18And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me for his heavenly Kingdom; to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.
