¹Če ste torej bili obujeni s Kristusom vred, iščite, kar je gori, kjer je Kristus, sedeč na desnici Božji.

¹If then you were raised together with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated on the right hand of God.

²V mislih imejte, kar je gori, ne, kar je na zemlji.

²Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are on the earth.

³Kajti umrli ste, in življenje vaše je skrito s Kristusom v Bogu.

³For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

⁴Kadar se prikaže Kristus, ki je življenje naše, tedaj se prikažete tudi vi ž njim v slavi.

⁴When Christ, our life, is revealed, then you will also be revealed with him in glory.

⁵Morite torej ude svoje, ki so na zemlji: nesramnost, nečistost, strast, hudo poželenje in lakomnost, ki je malikovanje,

⁵Put to death therefore your members which are on the earth: sexual immorality, uncleanness, depraved passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry;

⁶zavoljo katerih grehov prihaja jeza Božja nad sinove nepokorščine,

⁶for which things’ sake the wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience.

⁷ki ste med njimi tudi vi hodili nekdaj, ko ste živeli v teh grehih.

⁷You also once walked in those, when you lived in them;

⁸Sedaj pa odložite tudi vi vse to: jezo, srd, hudobnost, preklinjanje, nečedno besedovanje iz svojih ust;

⁸but now you also put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and shameful speaking out of your mouth.

⁹ne lažite drug drugemu; ker ste slekli starega človeka z dejanji njegovimi

⁹Don’t lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old man with his doings,

¹⁰in oblekli novega, ki se obnavlja v spoznanje po podobi njega, ki ga je ustvaril;

¹⁰and have put on the new man, who is being renewed in knowledge after the image of his Creator,

¹¹kjer ni Grka in Juda, obreze in neobreze, tujca, Scita [T. j. surov divjak.], hlapca, svobodnega, marveč vse in v vseh Kristus.

¹¹where there can’t be Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, bondservant, freeman; but Christ is all, and in all.

¹²Oblecite torej kot izvoljeni Božji, sveti in ljubljeni, srčno usmiljenje, blagovoljnost, ponižnost, krotkost, potrpežljivost;

¹²Put on therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance;

¹³prenašajte drug drugega in si odpuščajte, če ima kdo tožbo zoper koga, kakor je tudi Kristus odpustil vam, tako tudi vi;

¹³bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do.

¹⁴vrhu vsega tega pa oblecite ljubezen, ki je popolnosti vez.

¹⁴Above all these things, walk in love, which is the bond of perfection.

¹⁵In mir Kristusov naj vlada v srcih vaših, ki ste bili vanj tudi poklicani v enem telesu; in hvaležni bodite.

¹⁵And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.

¹⁶Beseda Kristusova prebivaj v vas obilno z vso modrostjo; učite in opominjajte se med seboj s psalmi in hvalospevi in pesmami duhovnimi, v milosti pojoč v srcu svojem Bogu.

¹⁶Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your heart to the Lord.

¹⁷In vse, kar počenjate v besedi in dejanju, vse delajte v imenu Gospoda Jezusa, zahvaljujoč Boga Očeta po njem.

¹⁷Whatever you do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father, through him.

¹⁸Žene, bodite pokorne svojim možem, kakor se spodobi, v Gospodu.

¹⁸Wives, be in subjection to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.

¹⁹Možje, ljubite žene svoje in ne bodite osorni proti njim.

¹⁹Husbands, love your wives, and don’t be bitter against them.

²⁰Otroci, bodite poslušni roditeljem v vsem, kajti to je ugodljivo v Gospodu.

²⁰Children, obey your parents in all things, for this pleases the Lord.

²¹Očetje, ne dražite otrok svojih, da ne bodo malosrčni.

²¹Fathers, don’t provoke your children, so that they won’t be discouraged.

²²Hlapci, bodite poslušni v vsem gospodarjem po mesu, ne služite le na oko, kakor ljudem ugajajoč, temuč v preprostosti srca, boječ se Gospoda.

²²Servants, obey in all things those who are your masters according to the flesh, not just when they are looking, as men pleasers, but in singleness of heart, fearing God.

²³Vse, kar storite, delajte iz duše, kakor Gospodu in ne ljudem,

²³And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men,

²⁴vedoč, da od Gospoda prejmete povračilo dediščine; Gospodu Kristusu hlapčujete.Krivičnik pa prejme, kar je krivičnega storil; in ni ga licegledja pri Bogu.

²⁴knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.

²⁵But he who does wrong will receive again for the wrong that he has done, and there is no partiality.
