¹Sedmi mesec, edenindvajseti dan meseca, je prišla beseda GOSPODOVA po proroku Hagaju, in je rekel:

¹In the seventh month, in the twenty-first day of the month, the Word of Yahweh came by Haggai the prophet, saying,

²Govóri Zerubabelu, sinu Sealtielovemu, deželnemu oblastniku na Judovem, in Jozuetu, sinu Jozadakovemu, velikemu duhovniku, in ostanku ljudstva ter véli:

²“Speak now to Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to the remnant of the people, saying,

³Kdo je med vami ostal, ki je videl to hišo v prvi slavi njeni? in kakšno jo vidite sedaj? Ni li prav kakor nič v očeh vaših?

³‘Who is left among you who saw this house in its former glory? How do you see it now? Isn’t it in your eyes as nothing?

⁴Sedaj pa bodi močan, o Zerubabel, govori GOSPOD, in bodi krepak, o Jozue, sin Jozadakov, veliki duhovnik! in bodi močno, vse ljudstvo dežele, govori GOSPOD, in delajte! Kajti jaz sem z vami, govori GOSPOD nad vojskami.

⁴Yet now be strong, Zerubbabel,’ says Yahweh. ‘Be strong, Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest. Be strong, all you people of the land,’ says Yahweh, ‘and work, for I am with you,’ says Yahweh of Armies.

⁵Beseda, ki sem se ž njo vam zavezal, ko ste šli iz Egipta, velja in duh moj ostane med vami; ne bojte se!

⁵This is the word that I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt, and my Spirit lived among you. ‘Don’t be afraid.’

⁶Kajti tako pravi GOSPOD nad vojskami: Še enkrat, malo časa še, pa potresem nebo in zemljo in morje in suhoto;

⁶For this is what Yahweh of Armies says: ‘Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, the earth, the sea, and the dry land;

⁷in potresem vse poganske narode, in pridejo dragocenosti vseh narodov, in to hišo napolnim s slavo, pravi GOSPOD nad vojskami.

⁷and I will shake all nations. The precious things of all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory, says Yahweh of Armies.

⁸Moje je srebro in moje je zlato, govori GOSPOD nad vojskami.

⁸The silver is mine, and the gold is mine,’ says Yahweh of Armies.

⁹Poslednja slava te hiše bode večja nego prva, pravi GOSPOD nad vojskami; in na tem kraju dam mir, govori GOSPOD nad vojskami.

⁹‘The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former,’ says Yahweh of Armies; ‘and in this place will I give peace,’ says Yahweh of Armies.”

¹⁰Štiriindvajseti dan devetega meseca v drugem letu Darija je prišla beseda GOSPODOVA proroku Hagaju in je rekel:

¹⁰In the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the Word of Yahweh came by Haggai the prophet, saying,

¹¹Tako pravi GOSPOD nad vojskami: Vprašaj vendar duhovnike glede postave in reci:

¹¹“Thus says Yahweh of Armies: Ask now the priests concerning the law, saying,

¹²Glej, če kdo nese sveto meso v krilu obleke svoje, pa se dotakne s krilom kruha ali kuhane jedi ali vina ali olja ali kake druge jestvine, postane li to sveto? In duhovniki so odgovorili in rekli: Ne.

¹²‘If someone carries holy meat in the fold of his garment, and with his fold touches bread, stew, wine, oil, or any food, will it become holy?’” The priests answered, “No.”

¹³Še reče Hagaj: Če se kdo, ki se je ognusil z mrtvecem, dotakne vsega tega, bo li ognušeno? In duhovniki odgovore, rekoč: Ognušeno bo.

¹³Then Haggai said, “If one who is unclean by reason of a dead body touch any of these, will it be unclean?” The priests answered, “It will be unclean.”

¹⁴Tedaj odgovori Hagaj in reče: Takšno je to ljudstvo in ves ta narod pred mojim obličjem, govori GOSPOD, in takšno je vse delo njih rok; in kar tam darujejo, je nečisto.

¹⁴Then Haggai answered, “‘So is this people, and so is this nation before me,’ says Yahweh; ‘and so is every work of their hands. That which they offer there is unclean.

¹⁵In sedaj, pazite vendar na čas od tega dne in poprej, preden se je kamen na kamen pokladal v templju GOSPODOVEM!

¹⁵Now, please consider from this day and backward, before a stone was laid on a stone in Yahweh’s temple.

¹⁶Preden se je to godilo, ko je kdo prišel h kopi žita za dvajset mer, jih je bilo le deset; ko je prišel v tlačilnico, da zajame petdeset veder, jih je bilo le dvajset.

¹⁶Through all that time, when one came to a heap of twenty measures, there were only ten. When one came to the wine vat to draw out fifty, there were only twenty.

¹⁷Udaril sem vas s snetjo in strupeno roso in s točo vse delo rok vaših; vendar vas ni bilo k meni, govori GOSPOD.

¹⁷I struck you with blight, mildew, and hail in all the work of your hands; yet you didn’t turn to me,’ says Yahweh.

¹⁸Pazite vendar na čas od tega dne in poprej, od štiriindvajsetega dne devetega meseca, namreč od dne, ko se je položila podstava templju GOSPODOVEMU, pazite na to!

¹⁸‘Consider, please, from this day and backward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, since the day that the foundation of Yahweh’s temple was laid, consider it.

¹⁹Ni li seme še v žitnici? Tako tudi trta, smokva, margarana in oljka niso še obrodile; a od tega dne bom blagoslavljal!

¹⁹Is the seed yet in the barn? Yes, the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree haven’t brought forth. From this day will I bless you.’”

²⁰In beseda GOSPODOVA je prišla v drugič Hagaju, štiriindvajseti dan meseca, govoreč:

²⁰The Word of Yahweh came the second time to Haggai in the twenty-fourth day of the month, saying,

²¹Govóri Zerubabelu, deželnemu oblastniku na Judovem, in reci: Jaz potresem nebo in zemljo.

²¹“Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, ‘I will shake the heavens and the earth.

²²In prevržem prestole kraljestev in uničim moč kraljestvom poganov in prevrnem bojne vozove in nje, ki se na njih peljejo; in konji in njih jezdeci padejo, drug pod mečem drugega.Tisti dan, govori GOSPOD nad vojskami, te vzamem, o Zerubabel, sin Sealtielov, služabnika svojega, govori GOSPOD, ter te naredim kakor za pečatni prstan; kajti tebe sem izvolil, govori GOSPOD nad vojskami.

²²I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms. I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the nations. I will overthrow the chariots, and those who ride in them. The horses and their riders will come down, everyone by the sword of his brother.

²³Tisti dan, govori GOSPOD nad vojskami, te vzamem, o Zerubabel, sin Sealtielov, služabnika svojega, govori GOSPOD, ter te naredim kakor za pečatni prstan; kajti tebe sem izvolil, govori GOSPOD nad vojskami.

²³In that day, says Yahweh of Armies, will I take you, Zerubbabel, my servant, the son of Shealtiel,’ says Yahweh, ‘and will make you as a signet, for I have chosen you,’ says Yahweh of Armies.”
