¹Tako mi je velel GOSPOD: Pojdi in si kupi prten pas in opaši ž njim ledja svoja, ali v vodo ga ne deni.

¹Thus says Yahweh to me, Go, and buy yourself a linen belt, and put it on your waist, and don’t put it in water.

²Torej sem po besedi GOSPODOVI kupil pas in si opasal ž njim ledja.

²So I bought a belt according to the word of Yahweh, and put it on my waist.

³Nato mi je prišla beseda GOSPODOVA v drugič, govoreč:

³The word of Yahweh came to me the second time, saying,

⁴Vzemi tisti pas, ki si ga kupil, ki so ž njim opasana ledja tvoja, in vstani, odidi k Evfratu in ga skrij tam v skalnato luknjo.

⁴Take the belt that you have bought, which is on your waist, and arise, go to the Euphrates, and hide it there in a cleft of the rock.

⁵Tedaj sem odšel in ga skril pri Evfratu, kakor mi je bil zapovedal GOSPOD.

⁵So I went, and hid it by the Euphrates, as Yahweh commanded me.

⁶Ko pa je minilo mnogo dni, mi reče GOSPOD: Vstani, oditi k Evfratu in vzemi zopet odondod tisti pas, ki sem ti bil zapovedal, da ga skrij ondi.

⁶It happened after many days, that Yahweh said to me, Arise, go to the Euphrates, and take the belt from there, which I commanded you to hide there.

⁷Šel sem torej k Evfratu, izkopal in vzel pas s tistega kraja, kjer sem ga bil skril: ali glej! pas je bil pokvarjen, ni bil za nobeno rabo.

⁷Then I went to the Euphrates, and dug, and took the belt from the place where I had hidden it; and behold, the belt was marred, it was profitable for nothing.

⁸Tedaj mi je prišla beseda GOSPODOVA:

⁸Then the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

⁹Tako pravi GOSPOD: Prav tako hočem pokvariti prevzetnost Judovo in veliko prevzetnost jeruzalemsko.

⁹Thus says Yahweh, In this way I will mar the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem.

¹⁰To ljudstvo hudobno, ki se brani poslušati besede moje, ki ravna po trmi svojega srca in hodi za drugimi bogovi, da bi jih častilo in se jim klanjalo, bode podobno temu pasu, ki ni za nobeno rabo.

¹⁰This evil people, who refuse to hear my words, who walk in the stubbornness of their heart, and are gone after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be as this belt, which is profitable for nothing.

¹¹Kajti kakor se pas oklene ledij moževih, tako sem storil, da se oklepaj mene vsa hiša Izraelova in vsa hiša Judova, govori GOSPOD, da bodo meni v ljudstvo in za ime in za hvalo in za lepoto; ali niso poslušali.

¹¹For as the belt clings to the waist of a man, so have I caused to cling to me the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah, says Yahweh; that they may be to me for a people, and for a name, and for a praise, and for a glory: but they would not hear.

¹²Zato jim porečeš besedo to: Tako pravi GOSPOD, Bog Izraelov: Vsak meh se napolni z vinom. Ko ti pa poreko: Ali res ne vemo, da se vsak meh napolni z vinom?

¹²Therefore you shall speak to them this word: Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, Every bottle shall be filled with wine: and they shall tell you, Do we not certainly know that every bottle shall be filled with wine?

¹³tedaj jim reci: Tako pravi GOSPOD: Glejte, jaz napolnim s pijanostjo vse prebivalce te dežele, i kralje, ki sede za Davida na prestolu njegovem, i duhovnike in proroke in vse prebivalce v Jeruzalemu.

¹³Then you shall tell them, Thus says Yahweh, Behold, I will fill all the inhabitants of this land, even the kings who sit on David’s throne, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, with drunkenness.

¹⁴In storim, da trčijo drug ob drugega, očetje in sinovi se spopadejo med seboj, govori GOSPOD; ne prizanesem, ne bode mi jih žal, ne usmilim se, da bi jih ne pogubil.

¹⁴I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together, says Yahweh: I will not pity, nor spare, nor have compassion, that I should not destroy them.

¹⁵Poslušajte in z ušesi sprejmite, ne povzdigujte se! zakaj GOSPOD je govoril.

¹⁵Hear, and give ear; don’t be proud; for Yahweh has spoken.

¹⁶Dajajte slavo GOSPODU, svojemu Bogu, preden naredi temo in preden se vam noge opotaknejo ob mračne gore, in ko boste pričakovali luči, vam jo naredi v senco smrti in izpremeni v gosto temo.

¹⁶Give glory to Yahweh your God, before he causes darkness, and before your feet stumble on the dark mountains, and, while you look for light, he turns it into the shadow of death, and makes it gross darkness.

¹⁷Če pa ne boste poslušali tega, bo na skrivnem plakala duša moja zavoljo prevzetnosti vaše in oči moje bodo hudo jokale in iz njih tekle solze, ker se bo v sužnost peljala čreda GOSPODOVA.

¹⁷But if you will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret for your pride; and my eye shall weep bitterly, and run down with tears, because Yahweh’s flock is taken captive.

¹⁸Reci kralju in kraljici: Ponižno sédita na tla, kajti doli pojde prvaštvo vaju obeh, venec slave vajine.

¹⁸Say to the king and to the queen mother, Humble yourselves, sit down; for your headdresses have come down, even the crown of your glory.

¹⁹Mesta na Jugu so zaprta, in nikogar ni, da bi jih odprl; Juda je ves odpeljan v sužnost, docela je odpeljan.

¹⁹The cities of the South are shut up, and there is none to open them: Judah is carried away captive, all of it; it is wholly carried away captive.

²⁰Povzdignite oči in poglejte jih, ki gredo od severa! Kje je tista čreda, ki ti je bila izročena, čreda slave tvoje?

²⁰Lift up your eyes, and see those who come from the north: where is the flock that was given you, your beautiful flock?

²¹Kaj porečeš, ko postavi prijatelje tvoje nad teboj za glavo, ker si jih sama navadila zoper sebe? Ali te ne bodo zgrabile bolečine kakor ženo porodnico?

²¹What will you say, when he shall set over you as head those whom you have yourself taught to be friends to you? shall not sorrows take hold of you, as of a woman in travail?

²²Če pa rečeš v srcu svojem: Zakaj me je to zadelo? Zavoljo množine krivice tvoje so se odgrnila krila tvoja, po sili so bili oskrunjeni podplati tvoji.

²²If you say in your heart, Why are these things come on me? for the greatness of your iniquity are your skirts uncovered, and your heels suffer violence.

²³More li črnec izpremeniti svojo polt? ali pard lise svoje? potem bi tudi vi mogli dobro delati, kos te se navadili hudega.

²³Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may you also do good, who are accustomed to do evil.

²⁴Zato jih raztrosim kakor pleve, ki lete ob vetru v puščavi.

²⁴Therefore will I scatter them, as the stubble that passes away, by the wind of the wilderness.

²⁵To je usoda tvoja, delež, ki sem ti ga odmeril, govori GOSPOD, ker si pozabila mene in stavila upanje v laž.

²⁵This is your lot, the portion measured to you from me, says Yahweh; because you have forgotten me, and trusted in falsehood.

²⁶Zato ti tudi jaz potegnem rob tvoj čez obraz, da se bo videla sramota tvoja.Prešeštva tvoja in rezgeti tvoji, pregrešno nečistovanje tvoje na hribih, na polju: videl sem gnusobe tvoje. Gorje ti, Jeruzalem! Ti se nočeš očistiti – koliko časa še?

²⁶Therefore will I also uncover your skirts on your face, and your shame shall appear.

²⁷Prešeštva tvoja in rezgeti tvoji, pregrešno nečistovanje tvoje na hribih, na polju: videl sem gnusobe tvoje. Gorje ti, Jeruzalem! Ti se nočeš očistiti – koliko časa še?

²⁷I have seen your abominations, even your adulteries, and your neighing, the lewdness of your prostitution, on the hills in the field. Woe to you, Jerusalem! You will not be made clean; how long shall it yet be?
