¹V začetku kraljestva Jojakima, sina Josijevega, kralja na Judovem, je prišla ta beseda Jeremiju od GOSPODA, govoreč:

¹In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, came this word to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying,

²Tako mi je rekel GOSPOD: Napravi si spone in jarme ter si jih deni na vrat.

²Thus says Yahweh to me: Make bonds and bars, and put them on your neck;

³Nato jih pošlji kralju Edomcev in kralju Moabcev in kralju sinov Amonovih in kralju v Tiru in kralju v Sidonu po poslancih, ki pridejo v Jeruzalem k Zedekiju, kralju Judovemu;

³and send them to the king of Edom, and to the king of Moab, and to the king of the children of Ammon, and to the king of Tyre, and to the king of Sidon, by the hand of the messengers who come to Jerusalem to Zedekiah king of Judah;

⁴in véli jim, da naj sporoče svojim gospodom: Tako pavi GOSPOD nad vojskami, Bog Izraelov: Povejte gospodom svojim tole:

⁴and give them a command to their masters, saying, Thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, You shall tell your masters:

⁵Jaz sem naredil zemljo, ljudi in živali, ki so na površju zemeljskem, s svojo veliko krepkostjo in z iztegnjeno ramo svojo; zato jo dajem, komur se mi prav vidi.

⁵I have made the earth, the men and the animals that are on the surface of the earth, by my great power and by my outstretched arm; and I give it to whom it seems right to me.

⁶In zdaj sem dal jaz vse dežele v roko Nebukadnezarju, kralju babilonskemu, hlapcu svojemu, in tudi zveri poljske sem mu dal, da naj mu služijo.

⁶Now have I given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant; and the animals of the field also have I given him to serve him.

⁷In služili mu bodo vsi narodi in sinu in vnuku njegovemu, dokler ne pride tudi njegovi deželi čas, ko ga v sužnost spravijo mnogi narodi in veliki kralji.

⁷All the nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son’s son, until the time of his own land come: and then many nations and great kings shall make him their bondservant.

⁸Narod pa in kraljestvo, ki ne bo hotelo služiti Nebukadnezarju, kralju babilonskemu, in ne ukloni vratu svojega v jarem kralja babilonskega, tisti narod, govori GOSPOD, bom kaznoval z mečem in lakoto in kugo, dokler jih ne pokončam z roko njegovo.

⁸It shall happen, that the nation and the kingdom which will not serve the same Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation will I punish, says Yahweh, with the sword, and with the famine, and with the pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand.

⁹Vi torej ne poslušajte prorokov in vedežev svojih in sanj svojih in zvezdogledov in čarovnikov svojih, ki vam govore in pravijo: Ne boste služili kralju babilonskemu.

⁹But as for you, don’t you listen to your prophets, nor to your diviners, nor to your dreams, nor to your soothsayers, nor to your sorcerers, who speak to you, saying, You shall not serve the king of Babylon:

¹⁰Kajti laž vam oni prorokujejo, da bi vas spravili daleč od dežele vaše in da vas bom pregnal, da poginete.

¹⁰for they prophesy a lie to you, to remove you far from your land, and that I should drive you out, and you should perish.

¹¹Narod pa, ki ukloni vrat svoj v jarem kralja babilonskega in mu bo služil, pustim v njegovi deželi, govori GOSPOD, da naj jo obdeluje in prebiva v njej.

¹¹But the nation that shall bring their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him, that nation will I let remain in their own land, says Yahweh; and they shall till it, and dwell therein.

¹²In govoril sem Zedekiju, kralju Judovemu, po vseh teh besedah, rekoč: Vteknite vratove svoje v jarem kralja babilonskega ter služite njemu in ljudstvu njegovemu, in ohranite si življenje.

¹²I spoke to Zedekiah king of Judah according to all these words, saying, Bring your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him and his people, and live.

¹³Zakaj hočete umirati ti in ljudstvo tvoje od meča, lakote in kuge, kakor je govoril GOSPOD o narodu, ki ne bo podložen kralju babilonskemu?

¹³Why will you die, you and your people, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, as Yahweh has spoken concerning the nation that will not serve the king of Babylon?

¹⁴Ne poslušajte torej besed tistih prorokov, ki vam govore in pravijo: Ne boste služili kralju babilonskemu; kajti laž vam oni prorokujejo.

¹⁴Don’t listen to the words of the prophets who speak to you, saying, You shall not serve the king of Babylon; for they prophesy a lie to you.

¹⁵Zakaj nisem jih poslal, govori GOSPOD, ampak sami prorokujejo v mojem imenu krivo, da vas bom pregnal in da bi poginili vi in proroki, ki vam prorokujejo.

¹⁵For I have not sent them, says Yahweh, but they prophesy falsely in my name; that I may drive you out, and that you may perish, you, and the prophets who prophesy to you.

¹⁶Tudi duhovnikom in vsemu temu ljudstvu sem govoril, rekoč: Tako pravi GOSPOD: Ne poslušajte besed prorokov svojih, ki vam prorokujejo in pravijo: Glejte, posode hiše GOSPODOVE se skoraj pripeljejo nazaj iz Babilona; kajti laž vam prorokujejo.

¹⁶Also I spoke to the priests and to all this people, saying, Thus says Yahweh: Don’t listen to the words of your prophets who prophesy to you, saying, Behold, the vessels of Yahweh’s house shall now shortly be brought again from Babylon; for they prophesy a lie to you.

¹⁷Ne poslušajte jih; služite kralju babilonskemu, da boste živeli! čemu naj pride v razvalino to mesto?

¹⁷Don’t listen to them; serve the king of Babylon, and live: why should this city become a desolation?

¹⁸Če pa so res proroki in če je beseda GOSPODOVA ž njimi, naj vendar stopijo pred GOSPODA nad vojskami, proseč, da ne pridejo v Babilon posode, ki so ostale v hiši GOSPODOVI in v hiši kralja Judovega in v Jeruzalemu.

¹⁸But if they be prophets, and if the word of Yahweh be with them, let them now make intercession to Yahweh of Armies, that the vessels which are left in the house of Yahweh, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, don’t go to Babylon.

¹⁹Kajti tako pravi GOSPOD nad vojskami o templjevih stebrih in o morju in o stojalih in o drugem posodju, kar ga je ostalo v tem mestu,

¹⁹For thus says Yahweh of Armies concerning the pillars, and concerning the sea, and concerning the bases, and concerning the residue of the vessels that are left in this city,

²⁰ki ga ni vzel Nebukadnezar, kralj babilonski, ko je odpeljaval Jekonija, sinu Jojakimovega, kralja Judovega, iz Jeruzalema v Babilon in vse plemenitnike z Judovega in iz Jeruzalema;

²⁰which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon didn’t take, when he carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, from Jerusalem to Babylon, and all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem;

²¹da, tako pravi GOSPOD nad vojskami, Bog Izraelov, o tistem posodju, ki je ostalo v hiši GOSPODOVI in v hiši kralja Judovega in v Jeruzalemu:V Babilon se odnese in tam ostane do dne, ko se ozrem po njih govori GOSPOD; tedaj storim, da pojdejo gori in jih nazaj pripeljem v ta kraj.

²¹yes, thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, concerning the vessels that are left in the house of Yahweh, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem:

²²V Babilon se odnese in tam ostane do dne, ko se ozrem po njih govori GOSPOD; tedaj storim, da pojdejo gori in jih nazaj pripeljem v ta kraj.

²²They shall be carried to Babylon, and there shall they be, until the day that I visit them, says Yahweh; then will I bring them up, and restore them to this place.
