¹In zgodilo se je, ko je bil vzet Jeruzalem (v devetem letu Zedekija, kralja Judovega, deseti mesec, je prišel Nebukadnezar, kralj babilonski, in vsa vojska njegova pred Jeruzalem, in oblegali so ga;

¹It happened when Jerusalem was taken, (in the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his army against Jerusalem, and besieged it;

²v enajstem letu Zedekija, četrti mesec, deveti dan meseca, so predrli v mesto),

²in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, the ninth day of the month, a breach was made in the city),

³da so vstopili vsi knezi kralja babilonskega in sedli pri Srednjih vratih: Nergal-sarezer, Samgar-nebu, Sarsekim, glavar dvornikov, Nergal-sarezer, glavar magov, in vsi drugi knezi kralja babilonskega.

³that all the princes of the king of Babylon came in, and sat in the middle gate, Nergal Sharezer, Samgarnebo, Sarsechim, Rabsaris, Nergal Sharezer, Rabmag, with all the rest of the princes of the king of Babylon.

⁴Ko jih pa zagleda Zedekija, kralj Judov, in vsi vojščaki, pobegnejo in uidejo iz mesta po noči po potu kraljevega vrta, skozi vrata med dvojnim zidom. In šel je po potu proti nižini Arabi.

⁴It happened that, when Zedekiah the king of Judah and all the men of war saw them, then they fled, and went forth out of the city by night, by the way of the king’s garden, through the gate between the two walls; and he went out toward the Arabah.

⁵Ali šla je za njimi vojska Kaldejcev, in došli so Zedekija na planjavi ob Jerihu; in ujeli so ga ter peljali k Nebukadnezarju, kralju babilonskemu, v Riblo, v deželi Hamatski. In on je izrekel sodbo zoper njega.

⁵But the army of the Chaldeans pursued after them, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho: and when they had taken him, they brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath; and he gave judgment on him.

⁶In poklal je kralj babilonski sine Zedekijeve v Ribli njemu pred očmi, tudi vse plemenitnike iz Judeje je umoril kralj babilonski.

⁶Then the king of Babylon killed the sons of Zedekiah in Riblah before his eyes: also the king of Babylon killed all the nobles of Judah.

⁷In Zedekiju je oslepil oči in ga zvezal z dvema bronastima verigama, da ga odpelje v Babilon.

⁷Moreover he put out Zedekiah’s eyes, and bound him in fetters, to carry him to Babylon.

⁸Hišo kraljevo pa in hiše ljudske so požgali Kaldejci z ognjem in obzidje jeruzalemsko so podrli.

⁸The Chaldeans burned the king’s house, and the houses of the people, with fire, and broke down the walls of Jerusalem.

⁹In ostanek ljudstva, kar jih je bilo še v mestu, in ubežnike, ki so uskočili k njemu, in ostanek ljudstva, kar jih je bilo še, je odpeljal Nebuzaradan, glavar telesne straže, v Babilon.

⁹Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive into Babylon the residue of the people who remained in the city, the deserters also who fell away to him, and the residue of the people who remained.

¹⁰A izmed ljudstva najubožnejše, ki niso imeli ničesar, je Nebuzaradan, glavar telesne straže, pustil v deželi Judovi in jim dal vinogradov in njiv tisti dan.

¹⁰But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left of the poor of the people, who had nothing, in the land of Judah, and gave them vineyards and fields at the same time.

¹¹Povelje pa je dal Nebukadnezar, kralj babilonski, Nebuzaradanu, glavarju telesne straže, zastran Jeremija, rekoč:

¹¹Now Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon commanded Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard concerning Jeremiah, saying,

¹²Vzemi ga in dobro pazi nanj in ne stori mu nič hudega, temuč delaj ž njim, kakor ti poreče.

¹²Take him, and look well to him, and do him no harm; but do to him even as he shall tell you.

¹³In poslal je Nebuzaradan, glavar telesne straže, in Nebusazban, glavar dvornikov, in Nergal-sarezer, glavar magov, in vsi mogočniki kralja babilonskega

¹³So Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard sent, and Nebushazban, Rabsaris, and Nergal Sharezer, Rabmag, and all the chief officers of the king of Babylon;

¹⁴so poslali ter vzeli Jeremija iz veže straže in ga izročili Gedaliju, sinu Ahikama, sina Safanovega, naj ga pelje v hišo svojo. In tako je prebival sredi ljudstva.

¹⁴they sent, and took Jeremiah out of the court of the guard, and committed him to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, that he should carry him home: so he lived among the people.

¹⁵In beseda GOSPODOVA je prišla Jeremiju, ko je bil zaprt v veži straže, rekoč:

¹⁵Now the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah, while he was shut up in the court of the guard, saying,

¹⁶Pojdi in reci Ebedmeleku, Etiopcu, tole: Tako pravi GOSPOD nad vojskami, Bog Izraelov: Glej, jaz izpolnim besede svoje o tem mestu v hudo, ne pa v dobro, in pred očmi tvojimi se uresničijo tistega dne.

¹⁶Go, and speak to Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying, Thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel: Behold, I will bring my words on this city for evil, and not for good; and they shall be accomplished before you in that day.

¹⁷Ali otmem te tisti dan, govori GOSPOD, in dan ne boš v roke možem, ki se jih bojiš.Kajti gotovo te oprostim in od meča ne padeš; in življenje ti bode namesto plena, ker si stavil upanje na mene, govori GOSPOD.

¹⁷But I will deliver you in that day, says Yahweh; and you shall not be given into the hand of the men of whom you are afraid.

¹⁸Kajti gotovo te oprostim in od meča ne padeš; in življenje ti bode namesto plena, ker si stavil upanje na mene, govori GOSPOD.

¹⁸For I will surely save you, and you shall not fall by the sword, but your life shall be for a prey to you; because you have put your trust in me, says Yahweh.
