¹Bežite na varno, otroci Benjaminovi, izsredi Jeruzalema in v Tekoi trobite na trombo in proti Bet-keremu vzdignite znamenje; kajti nesreča grozi od severa in velika stiska.

¹“Flee for safety, you children of Benjamin, out of the midst of Jerusalem, and blow the trumpet in Tekoa, and raise up a signal on Beth Haccherem; for evil looks forth from the north, and a great destruction.

²Hčer sionsko, lepo in nežno, izničim.

²The comely and delicate one, the daughter of Zion, will I cut off.

³K njej bodo hodili pastirji s čredami svojimi; šatore bodo stavili proti njej kroginkrog, vsak popase svoj prostor.

³Shepherds with their flocks shall come to her; they shall pitch their tents against her all around; they shall feed everyone in his place.”

⁴„Na vojsko se pripravljajte proti njej! Vstanite in idimo gori že opoldne!... Gorje nam! ker dan je minil, ker nagnile so se sence večerne!

⁴“Prepare war against her; arise, and let us go up at noon. Woe to us! For the day declines, for the shadows of the evening are stretched out.

⁵Vstanite in idimo gori še po noči in pokončajmo njene palače!“

⁵Arise, and let us go up by night, and let us destroy her palaces.”

⁶Kajti tako je velel GOSPOD vojnih krdel: Sekajte les in napravite nasip zoper Jeruzalem! Prav to mesto je treba obiskati; kolikršno je, zgolj zatiranje je v njem.

⁶For Yahweh of Armies said, “Cut down trees, and cast up a mound against Jerusalem: this is the city to be visited; she is wholly oppression in the midst of her.

⁷Kakor voda teče iz vodnjaka, tako teče iz njega hudobija; silovitost in pustošenje se čuje v njem; pred obličjem mojim je vedno bridkost in uboj.

⁷As a well casts forth its waters, so she casts forth her wickedness: violence and destruction is heard in her; before me continually is sickness and wounds.

⁸Daj se posvariti, o Jeruzalem, da se ne odtrga duša moja od tebe, da te ne naredim pustega, za deželo brez prebivalcev!

⁸Be instructed, Jerusalem, lest my soul be alienated from you; lest I make you a desolation, a land not inhabited.”

⁹Tako pravi GOSPOD nad vojskami: Paberkovali bodo kakor po trtah ostanke Izraelove. Izteguj zopet roko kakor trgač po rozgah! –

⁹Thus says Yahweh of Armies, “They shall thoroughly glean the remnant of Israel like a vine. Turn again your hand as a grape gatherer into the baskets.”

¹⁰Komu naj govorim in pričujem, da bi slišali? Glej, neobrezano je njih uho in ne morejo biti pozorni; glej, beseda GOSPODOVA jim je v zasmehovanje, ne vesele se je.

¹⁰To whom shall I speak and testify, that they may hear? Behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they can’t listen. Behold, the word of Yahweh has become a reproach to them. They have no delight in it.

¹¹Zato sem poln srda GOSPODOVEGA, utrujen sem od zadržavanja. Izlij ga nad otroke po ulicah in nad druščino mladeničev; kajti tudi mož z ženo bosta zadeta, starček in prileten mož;

¹¹Therefore I am full of the wrath of Yahweh. I am weary with holding in. “Pour it out on the children in the street, and on the assembly of young men together; for even the husband with the wife shall be taken, the aged with him who is full of days.

¹²in njih hiše preidejo v last drugim z njivami in ženami vred. Kajti iztegnem roko svojo nad prebivalce tiste dežele, govori GOSPOD.

¹²Their houses shall be turned to others, their fields and their wives together; for I will stretch out my hand on the inhabitants of the land, says Yahweh.”

¹³Zakaj od največjega do najmanjšega izmed njih so vsi vdani dobičku; in od proroka do duhovnika, kar jih je, delajo krivično.

¹³“For from their least even to their greatest, everyone is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even to the priest, everyone deals falsely.

¹⁴In hčeri ljudstva mojega zdravijo rano prav lahkomiselno, govoreč: Mir, mir! dasi ni miru.

¹⁴They have healed also the hurt of my people superficially, saying, ‘Peace, peace!’ when there is no peace.

¹⁵Ali jih je bilo sram, ko so delali gnusobo? Ne, sram jih ni nikakor in zardeti ne znajo. Zato padejo med padajočimi; zgrudijo se tisti čas, ko jih obiščem, pravi GOSPOD.

¹⁵Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? No, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush. Therefore they shall fall among those who fall; at the time that I visit them, they shall be cast down,” says Yahweh.

¹⁶Tako pravi GOSPOD: Stopite na pota in glejte ter poprašujte po starih stezah, katera je pot dobrega, in hodite po njej, in najdete pokoj dušam svojim. Ali pravijo: Nočemo hoditi po njej.

¹⁶Thus says Yahweh, “Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, ‘Where is the good way?’ and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’

¹⁷In postavil sem čuvaje nad vas, veleče: Pazite na glas trobente! A rekli so: Nočemo paziti.

¹⁷I set watchmen over you, saying, ‘Listen to the sound of the trumpet!’ But they said, ‘We will not listen!’

¹⁸Zato poslušajte, o narodi, in spoznaj, občina, kaj se godi med njimi!

¹⁸Therefore hear, you nations, and know, congregation, what is among them.

¹⁹Poslušaj, o zemlja! Glej, jaz pripeljem nesrečo nad to ljudstvo, njih misli sad; kajti niso pazili na besede moje in postavo mojo so zavrgli.

¹⁹Hear, earth! Behold, I will bring evil on this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not listened to my words; and as for my law, they have rejected it.

²⁰Čemu mi kadilo, ki prihaja iz Sabe, in dišeči trst predragi iz daljne dežele? Žgalne daritve vaše niso prijetne in žrtve vaše mi niso ljube.

²⁰To what purpose comes there to me frankincense from Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far country? your burnt offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices pleasing to me.”

²¹Zato je rekel GOSPOD tako: Glej, jaz naredim temu ljudstvu spotike, ob katere se bodo hkratu spotikali očetje in sinovi, sosed in prijatelj njegov, in poginejo.

²¹Therefore thus says Yahweh, “Behold, I will lay stumbling blocks before this people. The fathers and the sons together shall stumble against them. The neighbor and his friend shall perish.”

²²Tako pravi GOSPOD: Glej, ljudstvo prihaja iz severne dežele in narod velik se vzdiguje od krajev zemlje!

²²Thus says Yahweh, “Behold, a people comes from the north country. A great nation shall be stirred up from the uttermost parts of the earth.

²³Za lok in sulico prijemljejo, krvoločni so in brez usmiljenja; glas njih šumi kakor morje in na konjih jezdijo; vsakdo je pripravljen zoper tebe, hči sionska, kakor mož na vojsko.

²³They take hold of bow and spear. They are cruel, and have no mercy. Their voice roars like the sea, and they ride on horses, everyone set in array, as a man to the battle, against you, daughter of Zion.”

²⁴Slišali smo glas o njem, omahnile so nam roke, groza nas je obšla, bolečina kakor porodnico.

²⁴We have heard its report; our hands become feeble: anguish has taken hold of us, and pains as of a woman in labor.

²⁵Ne hodi na polje in na potu ne postajaj, kajti meč ima sovražnik, strah je kroginkrog!

²⁵Don’t go forth into the field, nor walk by the way; for the sword of the enemy and terror, are on every side.

²⁶O hči ljudstva mojega, opaši se z raševino, valjaj se po pepelu, kakor po edinorojencu žaluj, jokaj prebridko! kajti nagloma pride razdejalec zoper nas.

²⁶Daughter of my people, clothe yourself with sackcloth, and wallow in ashes! Mourn, as for an only son, most bitter lamentation; for the destroyer shall suddenly come on us.

²⁷Postavil sem te za izkuševalca in za trdnjavo med svojim ljudstvom, da spoznavaš in preiskuješ njih pot.

²⁷“I have made you a tester of metals and a fortress among my people; that you may know and try their way.

²⁸Vsi so trdovratni uporniki, pohajajo z obrekovanjem; jekleni so in železni, popačeno ravnajo vsi.

²⁸They are all grievous rebels, going about with slanders; they are brass and iron: they all of them deal corruptly.

²⁹Žari se meh, ogenj pokončava svinec; zaman tope in tope: zakaj hudobni se nočejo izločiti.Srebro zavrženo jih bodo imenovali, kajti GOSPOD jih je zavrgel.

²⁹The bellows blow fiercely; the lead is consumed of the fire: in vain do they go on refining; for the wicked are not plucked away.

³⁰Srebro zavrženo jih bodo imenovali, kajti GOSPOD jih je zavrgel.

³⁰Men will call them rejected silver, because Yahweh has rejected them.”
