¹Yahweh, you have searched me, and you know me.

²Ti poznaš sedenje moje in vstajanje moje, mišljenje moje umeš oddaleč.

²You know my sitting down and my rising up. You perceive my thoughts from afar.

³Hojo mojo in ležo mojo zasleduješ in znana so ti vsa pota moja.

³You search out my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways.

⁴Ko ni še beseda na jeziku mojem, glej, GOSPOD, jo poznaš docela.

⁴For there is not a word on my tongue, but, behold, Yahweh, you know it altogether.

⁵Zadaj in spredaj me obdajaš in name pokladaš roko svojo.

⁵You hem me in behind and before. You laid your hand on me.

⁶Taka vednost je prečudovita zame, visoka je, ne morem je doseči.

⁶This knowledge is beyond me. It’s lofty. I can’t attain it.

⁷Kam naj grem pred duhom tvojim, ali kam naj bežim pred tvojim obličjem?

⁷Where could I go from your Spirit? Or where could I flee from your presence?

⁸Ko bi stopil na nebesa, tam si ti, ali bi ležišče si izbral v kraju mrtvih, tudi ondi si.

⁸If I ascend up into heaven, you are there. If I make my bed in Sheol Sheol is the place of the dead. , behold, you are there!

⁹Ko bi si vzel zarje peruti in odletel prebivat ob najzadnjem kraju morja,

⁹If I take the wings of the dawn, and settle in the uttermost parts of the sea;

¹⁰tudi tja bi me spremljala roka tvoja in zgrabila bi me desnica tvoja.

¹⁰Even there your hand will lead me, and your right hand will hold me.

¹¹Ko bi pa rekel: Teme me bodo vsaj pokrile in svetloba okoli mene postane naj noč –

¹¹If I say, “Surely the darkness will overwhelm me; the light around me will be night”;

¹²tudi teme ti ne morejo ničesar omračiti, noč ti je svetla kakor dan, temina ti je kakor noč.

¹²even the darkness doesn’t hide from you, but the night shines as the day. The darkness is like light to you.

¹³Zakaj ti si imel v lasti ledice moje, stkal si me v telesu matere moje.

¹³For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother’s womb.

¹⁴Hvalim te, da sem storjen na strašen, čudovit način; čudovita so dela tvoja, predobro to pozna duša moja.

¹⁴I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well.

¹⁵Ni ti bilo skrito okostje moje, ko sem bil ustvarjen na skrivnem, umetno narejen, kakor v zemlje globočinah.

¹⁵My frame wasn’t hidden from you, when I was made in secret, woven together in the depths of the earth.

¹⁶Zarodek moj so videle tvoje oči, in v knjigo tvojo je bilo vpisano vse to; dnevi so mi bili določeni, ko še eden njih ni bil napočil.

¹⁶Your eyes saw my body. In your book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there were none of them.

¹⁷Zatorej kako so mi dražestne misli tvoje, o Bog mogočni, kako ogromna so njih števila!

¹⁷How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is their sum!

¹⁸Hotel bi jih našteti, a več jih je od peska; kadar se zdramim, sem z mislimi še pri tebi.

¹⁸If I would count them, they are more in number than the sand. When I wake up, I am still with you.

¹⁹O da bi pokončal, o Bog, brezbožnika! In vi, možje krvoločni: Poberite se izpred mene!

¹⁹If only you, God, would kill the wicked. Get away from me, you bloodthirsty men!

²⁰Kajti zoper tebe govoré pregrešno, tvoje ime rabijo za laž tvoji sovražniki.

²⁰For they speak against you wickedly. Your enemies take your name in vain.

²¹Ali naj bi ne sovražil, o GOSPOD, sovražilcev tvojih, ali naj mi ne mrzé, ki se vzpenjajo zoper tebe?

²¹Yahweh, don’t I hate those who hate you? Am I not grieved with those who rise up against you?

²²S skrajnim sovraštvom jih sovražim, za neprijatelje so meni.

²²I hate them with perfect hatred. They have become my enemies.

²³Preiskuj me, Bog mogočni, in spoznaj srce moje, izkusi me in spoznaj misli moje,in glej, hodim li po potu, ki pelje v trpljenje, in vodi me po večnem potu.

²³Search me, God, and know my heart. Try me, and know my thoughts.

²⁴in glej, hodim li po potu, ki pelje v trpljenje, in vodi me po večnem potu.

²⁴See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way.
