¹Naizvozvo pakutanga kwezvose ndinokurudzira kuti mikumbiro, minyengetero, kureverera nekupa kuvonga zviitirwe vanhu vose;

¹I exhort therefore, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, thanksgivings be made for all men;

²Nekuti madzimambo nevose vari panzvimbo dzakakwirira kuti tigare upenyu hwerugare nerunyararo pauMwari hwose nerukudzo;

²for kings and all that are in dignity, that we may lead a quiet and tranquil life in all piety and gravity;

³nekuti izvi zvakanaka uye zvinogamuchirwa pamberi paMwari Muponesi wedu,

³for this is good and acceptable before our Saviour God,

⁴uyo unoda kuti vanhu vose vaponeswe, uye vasvike pakuziva chokwadi.

⁴who desires that all men should be saved and come to [the] knowledge of [the] truth.

⁵Nekuti kuna Mwari umwe, nemurevereri umwe pakati paMwari navanhu, ndiye munhu Kristu Jesu,

⁵For God is one, and [the] mediator of God and men one, [the] man Christ Jesus,

⁶wakazvipa amene kuva rudzikunuro rwevose, chive chapupu panguva dzakafanira,

⁶who gave himself a ransom for all, the testimony [to be rendered] in its own times;

⁷icho chandagadzirwa kuva muparidzi nemuapositori (ndinoreva zvirokwazvo, muna Kristu, handirevi nhema), mudzidzisi wevahedheni parutendo nechokwadi.

⁷to which *I* have been appointed a herald and apostle, (I speak [the] truth, I do not lie,) a teacher of [the] nations in faith and truth.

⁸Naizvozvo ndinoda kuti varume vanyengetere panzvimbo dzose, vachisimudza maoko matsvene, vasina kutsamwa nekupikisana.

⁸I will therefore that the men pray in every place, lifting up pious hands, without wrath or reasoning.

⁹Saizvozvowo, kuti vakadzi vazvishongedze nezvipfeko zvakafanira, vane kunyara nekuzvidzora, kwete nevhudzi rakarukwa, kana ndarama, kana maparera*, kana nguvo dzinodhura,

⁹In like manner also that the women in decent deportment and dress adorn themselves with modesty and discretion, not with plaited [hair] and gold, or pearls, or costly clothing,

¹⁰asi zvakafanira vakadzi vanoti vanoshumira Mwari nemabasa akanaka.

¹⁰but, what becomes women making profession of the fear of God, by good works.

¹¹Mukadzi ngaadzidze mukunyarara nekuzviisa pasi kose.

¹¹Let a woman learn in quietness in all subjection;

¹²Asi handitenderi mukadzi kuti adzidzise, kana kuti ave nesimba pamusoro pemurume, asi ave mukunyarara.

¹²but I do not suffer a woman to teach nor to exercise authority over man, but to be in quietness;

¹³Nekuti Adhamu wakatanga kuumbwa, tevere Evha;

¹³for Adam was formed first, then Eve:

¹⁴naAdhamu haana kunyengerwa, asi mukadzi anyengerwa wakava mukudarika,

¹⁴and Adam was not deceived; but the woman, having been deceived, was in transgression.

¹⁵asi vachaponeswa kubudikidza nekubereka vana, kana vachirambira murutendo nerudo, neutsvene nekuzvidzora.

¹⁵But she shall be preserved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and love and holiness with discretion.
