90

1Ishe, makanga muri ugaro bwedu Pamarudzi namarudzi.
1{A Prayer of Moses, the man of God.} Lord, *thou* hast been our dwelling-place in all generations.
2Makomo asati azvarwa, Musati matongosika nyika nevhu, Kubva pakusingaperi kusvikira pakusingaperi imwi muri Mwari.
2Before the mountains were brought forth, and thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from eternity to eternity thou art ùGod.
3Munodzosera munhu kuguruva; Muchiti, Dzokai vana vavanhu.
3Thou makest [mortal] man to return to dust, and sayest, Return, children of men.
4nekuti kwamuri makore ane chiuru Akangofanana nezuva razuro kana rapfuura, Senguva yokurinda yousiku.
4For a thousand years, in thy sight, are as yesterday when it is past, and [as] a watch in the night.
5Munovakukura semvura zhinji; vava sehope; Mangwanani vakaita souswa hunotunga.
5Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are [as] a sleep: in the morning they are like grass [that] groweth up:
6Mangwanani hunotumbuka, hunomera; Madekwana hunodzurwa, ndokusvava.
6In the morning it flourisheth and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down and withereth.
7nekuti tinopedzwa nokutsamwa kwenyu, Tinotambudzika nehasha dzenyu.
7For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy fury are we troubled.
8Makaisa zvakaipa zvedu pamberi penyu, Zvivi zvedu zvakavanzika pachiedza chechiso chenyu.
8Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret [sins] in the light of thy countenance.
9Nekuti mazuva edu ose anopfuura makatsamwa; Makore edu anopera sebefu.
9For all our days pass away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a [passing] thought.
10Mazuva amakore edu anosvika makore makumi manomwe, Kana tine simba makore makumi masere; Asi kunyange achikudzwa ndiko kutambudzika nenhamo chete. nekuti gare-gare aenda, nesu tabhururuka taenda.
10The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if, by reason of strength, they be fourscore years, yet their pride is labour and vanity, for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
11Ndianiko anoziva simba rokutsamwa kwenyu, Nehasha dzenyu, kuti mutyiwe zvakafanira here?
11Who knoweth the power of thine anger? and thy wrath according to the fear of thee?
12Tidzidzisei kunatsoverenga mazuva edu, Kuti tizviwanire moyo wakachenjera.
12So teach [us] to number our days, that we may acquire a wise heart.
13Dzokai Jehovha; kusvikira rinhiko? nzwirai tsitsi varanda venyu.
13Return, Jehovah: how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants.
14Tigutsei mangwanani netsitsi dzenyu; Kuti tifarise, tive nomufaro mazuva edu ose.
14Satisfy us early with thy loving-kindness; that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.
15Tifadzei zvinoenzana namazuva amakatitambudza, Namakore atakaona zvakaipa.
15Make us glad according to the days [wherein] thou hast afflicted us, according to the years [wherein] we have seen evil.
16Zvamakaita ngazvionekwe navaranda venyu, Nokubwinya kwenyu pamusoro pavana vavo.
16Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy majesty unto their sons.
17Kunaka kwaJehovha Mwari wedu ngakuve pamusoro pedu; Mutisimbisire basa ramaoko edu; Zvirokwazvo, basa ramaoko edu murisimbise.
17And let the beauty of Jehovah our God be upon us; and establish thou the work of our hands upon us: yea, the work of our hands, establish thou it.
