2 Chronicles

13

1Pagore regumi namasere ramambo Jerobhoami, Abhija akatanga kubata ushe hwaJudha.
1In the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam began Abijah to reign over Judah.
2Akabata ushe paJerusaremu makore matatu; zita ramai vake rakanga riri Mikaya, mukunda waUrieri weGibhiya. Kurwa kukavapo pakati paAbhija naJerobhoami.
2He reigned three years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Micaiah the daughter of Uriel of Gibeah. There was war between Abijah and Jeroboam.
3Abhija akarwa ane hondo yavarwi dzaiva mhare, varume vakatsaurwa vane zviuru mazana mana; Jerobhoamiwo akagadzira hondo kuzorwa naye, ana varume vakatsaurwa vane zviuru zvina mazana masere, vaiva varume vane simba noumhare.
3Abijah joined battle with an army of valiant men of war, even four hundred thousand chosen men: and Jeroboam set the battle in array against him with eight hundred thousand chosen men, who were mighty men of valor.
4Abhija akamira pamusoro pegomo rainzi Zemaraimi, raiva panyika yamakomo yaEfuremu, akati, Ndinzwei, Jerobhoami navaIsiraeri vose!
4Abijah stood up on Mount Zemaraim, which is in the hill country of Ephraim, and said, “Hear me, Jeroboam and all Israel:
5Ko hamufaniri kuziva here kuti Jehovha Mwari walsiraeri akapa Dhavhidhi ushe hwaIsiraeri nokusingaperi, iye navanakomana vake nesungano yomunyu?
5Ought you not to know that Yahweh, the God of Israel, gave the kingdom over Israel to David forever, even to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt?
6Asi Jerobhoami mwanakomana waNebhati, muranda waSoromoni mwanakomana waDhavhidhi, akasimuka akamukira ishe wake.
6Yet Jeroboam the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon the son of David, rose up, and rebelled against his lord.
7Kukaunganira kwaari vanhu vakaipa, vakaisvoipa, vakazvisimbisa kundorwa naRehobhoamu mwanakomana waSoromoni, iye Rehobhoamu achiri muduku ano moyo unotya, asingagoni kurwa navo.
7There were gathered to him worthless men, base fellows, who strengthened themselves against Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was young and tenderhearted, and could not withstand them.
8Zvino munoda kurwa novushe bwaJehovha bwuri mumaoko avanakomana vaDhavhidhi; zvamuri vanhu vazhinji, mune mhuru dzendarama dzakaitwa naJerobhoami kuti vave vamwari venyu.
8“Now you think to withstand the kingdom of Yahweh in the hand of the sons of David; and you are a great multitude, and there are with you the golden calves which Jeroboam made you for gods.
9Hamuna kudzinga here vapristi vaJehovha, vanakomana vaAroni, navaRevhi, imwi mukazvitsaurira vapristi netsika dzavanhu vedzimwe nyika? Naizvozvo Ani naani anouya kuzvitsaurira Mwari ane nzombe imwe namakondobwe manomwe, iye angava mupristi wavamwari vasati vari vamwari.
9Haven’t you driven out the priests of Yahweh, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and made priests for yourselves after the ways of the peoples of other lands? so that whoever comes to consecrate himself with a young bull and seven rams, the same may be a priest of those who are no gods.
10Asi kana tirisu, Jehovha ndiMwari wedu, hatina kumurasha; isu tina vapristi vanoshumira Jehovha, ivo vanakomana vaAroni, navaRevhi pamabasa avo.
10“But as for us, Yahweh is our God, and we have not forsaken him; and we have priests ministering to Yahweh, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites in their work:
11Ndivo vanopisira Jehovha zvipiriso zvinopiswa nezvinonhuhwira mangwanani ose namadekwana ose; nezvingwa zvokuratidza vanozvironga patafura yakaisvonaka; nechigadziko chendarama nemwenje yacho, kuvhenekera madekwana ose; nekuti tinochengeta zvatakarairwa naJehovha Mwari wedu; asi imwi makamurasha.
11and they burn to Yahweh every morning and every evening burnt offerings and sweet incense. They also set the show bread in order on the pure table; and the lampstand of gold with its lamps, to burn every evening: for we keep the instruction of Yahweh our God; but you have forsaken him.
12Zvino tarirai, Mwari anesu achititungamirira, navapristi vake vane hwamanda dzokuridza nadzo, kuti vakuridzirei mhere imi. Nhandi vana vaIsiraeri, regai kurwa naJehovha Mwari wamadzibaba enyu; nekuti hamungakundi.
12Behold, God is with us at our head, and his priests with the trumpets of alarm to sound an alarm against you. Children of Israel, don’t fight against Yahweh, the God of your fathers; for you shall not prosper.”
13Asi Jerobhoami akaisa vavandiri kuti vavakombe necheshure kwavo; zvino ivo vakava pamberi paJudha, navavandiri vakanga vari shure kwavo.
13But Jeroboam caused an ambush to come about behind them: so they were before Judah, and the ambush was behind them.
14Zvino vaJudha vakati vachicheuka, vakaona kurwa mberi kwavo neshure kwavo; vakachema kuna Jehovha, vapristi vakaridza hwamanda.
14When Judah looked back, behold, the battle was before and behind them; and they cried to Yahweh, and the priests sounded with the trumpets.
15Ipapo vanhu vaJudha vakaridza mhere; vakati varidza mhere, Mwari akaparadza Jerobhoami navaIsiraeri vose pamberi paAbhija naJudha.
15Then the men of Judah gave a shout: and as the men of Judah shouted, it happened, that God struck Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.
16Vana vaIsiraeri vakatiza pamberi paJudha, Mwari akavaisa mumaoko avo.
16The children of Israel fled before Judah; and God delivered them into their hand.
17Abhija navanhu vake vakavauraya nokuuraya kukuru; naizvozvo varume vakatsaurwa vane zviuru zvina mazana mashanu vakaurawa pakati paIsiraeri.
17Abijah and his people killed them with a great slaughter: so there fell down slain of Israel five hundred thousand chosen men.
18Vana vaIsiraeri vakamanikidzwa saizvozvo nenguva iyo, vana vaJudha vakakunda, nekuti vakavimba naJehovha, Mwari wamadzibaba avo.
18Thus the children of Israel were brought under at that time, and the children of Judah prevailed, because they relied on Yahweh, the God of their fathers.
19Abhija akateverera Jerobhoami, akamutorera maguta, aiti: Bhetieri nemisha yaro, neJeshana nemisha yaro, neEfironi nemisha yaro.
19Abijah pursued after Jeroboam, and took cities from him, Bethel with its towns, and Jeshanah with its towns, and Ephron with its towns.
20Jerobhoami haana kuzova nesimbazve pamazuva aAbhija; Jehovha ndokumurova, akafa.
20Jeroboam didn’t recover strength again in the days of Abijah. Yahweh struck him, and he died.
21Asi Abhija akazvisimbisa, akawana vakadzi vane gumi navana, akabereka vanakomana vana makumi maviri navaviri, navanasikana vane gumi navatanhatu.
21But Abijah grew mighty, and took to himself fourteen wives, and became the father of twenty-two sons, and sixteen daughters.
22Zvino mamwe mabasa aAbhija, netsika dzake, namashoko ake, zvakanyorwa padudziro yomuporofita Idho.
22The rest of the acts of Abijah, and his ways, and his sayings, are written in the commentary of the prophet Iddo.
