1 I go no kala alwaato kaŋ i na Yesu hay Baytlahami, Yahudiya* laabu wane ra, Hirodus* koytaray zamana ra, nga no, seeku fooyaŋ fun wayna funay haray ka kaa Urusalima*, ka ne:
1Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of King Herod, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying,
2 «Man gaa no Yahudancey bonkoono kaŋ i hay din go? Zama iri di a handariya wayna funay haray, iri kaa mo zama iri ma sududu a se.»
2“Where is he who is born King of the Jews? For we saw his star in the east, and have come to worship him.”
3 Waato kaŋ Bonkoono Hirodus maa woodin, a laakal tun, nga nda Urusalima kulu nga banda.
3When King Herod heard it, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
4 Gaa no, a na alfaga* beerey da asariya* dondonandikoy kulu margu kaŋ yaŋ go jama ra, k'i hã nango kaŋ i ga Almasihu hay.
4Gathering together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he asked them where the Christ would be born.
5 I ne a se: «Baytlahami no, Yahudiya laabu ra wano, zama yaadin no annabo hantum ka ne:
5They said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for this is written through the prophet,
6 ‹Ni mo, Baytlahami, Yahudiya laabu, ni manti koda bo baa kayna Yahudiya laabu koyey ra. Zama ni ra no mayraykoyo ga fatta kaŋ ga ciya ay jama Israyla* kuruko.› »
6‘You Bethlehem, land of Judah, are in no way least among the princes of Judah: for out of you shall come forth a governor, who shall shepherd my people, Israel.’”
7 Alwaato din binde Hirodus na seekoy din ce tuguyaŋ ra, ka baaro ceeci i do laakal gaa waati kaŋ cine no handariya bangay.
7Then Herod secretly called the wise men, and learned from them exactly what time the star appeared.
8 A n'i donton mo i ma koy Baytlahami, ka ne: «Wa koy. Araŋ ma zanka din baaru ceeci nda laakal. Waati kaŋ araŋ du a mo, araŋ ma ye ka kande ay se baaro, zama ay mo ma koy ka somb'a se.»
8He sent them to Bethlehem, and said, “Go and search diligently for the young child. When you have found him, bring me word, so that I also may come and worship him.”
9 Ngey mo, kaŋ i maa bonkoono sanno din, i koy. Handariya mo kaŋ i di wayna funay haray go ga koy i jine, kal a kaa ka kay nango kaŋ koociya go boŋ do.
9They, having heard the king, went their way; and behold, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, until it came and stood over where the young child was.
10 Waato kaŋ i di handariya, i te farhã da bine kaani gumo.
10When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy.
11 I furo fuwo ra mo, i di koociya, nga nda nga nya Maryama. I ye ganda ka sududu a se. I na ngey arzakey feeri ka nooyaŋey salle a se: wura da lubban* da zawul*.
11They came into the house and saw the young child with Mary, his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Opening their treasures, they offered to him gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
12 Waato kaŋ i du bayrandiyaŋ Irikoy do hindiri ra i ma si ye Hirodus do, i tun ka fondo fo gana kala ngey laabo ra.
12Being warned in a dream that they shouldn’t return to Herod, they went back to their own country another way.
13 Waato kaŋ i dira, kala Irikoy malayka* fo bangay Yusufu se hindiri ra, ka ne: «Tun ka koociya da nga nyaŋo sambu, ka zuru nd'ey ka koy Misira* ra. Ma goro noodin hal ay ma ci ni se. Zama Hirodus ga ba nga ma koociya ceeci zama nga m'a halaci se.»
13Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Arise and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and stay there until I tell you, for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.”
14 A tun mo ka koociya da nga nyaŋo sambu cin ra ka koy Misira laabo ra.
14He arose and took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt,
15 A goro noodin kala Hirodus buuyaŋ, zama i ma haŋ kaŋ Rabbi ci annabi do toonandi, kaŋ ne: «Ay n'ay izo ce a ma fun Misira laabo ra.»
15and was there until the death of Herod; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, “Out of Egypt I called my son.”
16 Alwaato din za kaŋ Hirodus di kaŋ seekoy din na nga hahaara, a dukur gumo. A donton ka zanka alborey kulu wi kaŋ go Baytlahami ra, hal a laabo me kulu, za jiiri hinka ize ka kaa ganda, jirbey lasaabuyaŋ boŋ kaŋ a ceeci nda laakal seekoy do.
16Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked by the wise men, was exceedingly angry, and sent out, and killed all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all the surrounding countryside, from two years old and under, according to the exact time which he had learned from the wise men.
17 Han din hane no i na haya kaŋ i ci annabi Irimiya do toonandi, kaŋ ne:
17Then that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled, saying,
18 «I maa jinde fo Rama ra, hẽeni nda baray bambata. Rahila* goono ga hẽ nga izey sabbay se, a wangu nda yaamaryaŋ, zama i si no.»
18“A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children; she wouldn’t be comforted, because they are no more.”
19 Amma alwaato kaŋ Hirodus bu, kala Rabbi malayka bangay Yusufu se koyne Misira laabo ra ka ne:
19But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, saying,
20 «Tun ka koociya da nga nyaŋo sambu, ka koy Israyla laabo ra, zama borey kaŋ yaŋ goono ga koociya fundo ceeci ngey m'a halaci din bu.»
20“Arise and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel, for those who sought the young child’s life are dead.”
21 A tun mo, ka koociya da nga nyaŋo sambu, ka kaa Israyla laabo ra.
21He arose and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel.
22 Amma waato kaŋ a maa Arkalawus na nga baabo Hirodus tubu, a goono ga may Yahudiya laabo ra, a humburu noodin koyyaŋ. A binde du bayrandiyaŋ Irikoy do hindiri ra, kal a kamba ka koy Galili* ra.
22But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea in the place of his father, Herod, he was afraid to go there. Being warned in a dream, he withdrew into the region of Galilee,
23 A kaa ka goro kwaara fo ra kaŋ se i ga ne Nazara, zama i ma haŋ kaŋ i ci annabey me ra toonandi, kaŋ i ne: «I ga ne a se Nazara boro.»
23and came and lived in a city called Nazareth; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophets: “He will be called a Nazarene.”
