¹Walipokuwa wanakaribia Yerusalemu walifika Bethfage na Bethania, karibu na mlima wa Mizeituni. Hapo aliwatuma wawili wa wanafunzi wake,

¹When they drew near to Jerusalem, to Bethsphage TR & NU read “Bethphage” instead of “Bethsphage” and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,

²akawaambia, "Nendeni katika kijiji kilicho mbele yenu. Mtakapokuwa mnaingia humo, mtakuta mwana punda amefungwa ambaye bado hajatumiwa na mtu. Mfungueni mkamlete.

²and said to them, “Go your way into the village that is opposite you. Immediately as you enter into it, you will find a young donkey tied, on which no one has sat. Untie him, and bring him.

³Kama mtu akiwauliza, Mbona mnafanya hivyo? Mwambieni, Bwana anamhitaji na atamrudisha hapa mara."

³ If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord needs him;’ and immediately he will send him back here.”

⁴Basi, wakaenda, wakamkuta mwana punda barabarani amefungwa mlangoni. Walipokuwa wakimfungua,

⁴They went away, and found a young donkey tied at the door outside in the open street, and they untied him.

⁵baadhi ya watu waliokuwa wamesimama hapo wakawauliza "Kwa nini mnamfungua huyo mwana punda?"

⁵Some of those who stood there asked them, “What are you doing, untying the young donkey?”

⁶Wanafunzi wakajibu kama Yesu alivyokuwa amewaambia; nao wakawaacha waende zao.

⁶They said to them just as Jesus had said, and they let them go.

⁷Wakampelekea Yesu huyo mwana punda. Wakatandika mavazi yao juu ya huyo mwana punda, na Yesu akaketi juu yake.

⁷They brought the young donkey to Jesus, and threw their garments on it, and Jesus sat on it.

⁸Watu wengi wakatandaza mavazi yao barabarani; wengine wakatandaza matawi ya miti waliyoyakata mashambani.

⁸Many spread their garments on the way, and others were cutting down branches from the trees, and spreading them on the road.

⁹Watu wote waliotangulia na wale waliofuata wakapaaza sauti zao wakisema, "Hosana! Abarikiwe huyo ajaye kwa jina la Bwana!

⁹Those who went in front, and those who followed, cried out, “Hosanna “Hosanna” means “save us” or “help us, we pray.” ! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Psalm 118:25-26

¹⁰Ubarikiwe Ufalme ujao wa baba yetu Daudi. Hosana juu mbinguni!"

¹⁰Blessed is the kingdom of our father David that is coming in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”

¹¹Yesu aliingia mjini Yerusalemu akaenda moja kwa moja mpaka Hekaluni, akatazama kila kitu kwa makini. Lakini kwa vile ilikwisha kuwa jioni, akaenda Bethania pamoja na wale kumi na wawili.

¹¹Jesus entered into the temple in Jerusalem. When he had looked around at everything, it being now evening, he went out to Bethany with the twelve.

¹²Kesho yake, walipokuwa wanatoka Bethania, Yesu aliona njaa.

¹²The next day, when they had come out from Bethany, he was hungry.

¹³Basi, akaona kwa mbali mtini wenye majani mengi. Akauendea ili aone kama ulikuwa na tunda lolote. Alipoufikia, aliukuta bila tunda lolote ila majani matupu, kwa vile hayakuwa majira ya mtini kuzaa matunda.

¹³Seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came to see if perhaps he might find anything on it. When he came to it, he found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs.

¹⁴Hapo akauambia mtini, "Tangu leo hata milele mtu yeyote asile matunda kwako." Nao wanafunzi wake walisikia maneno hayo.

¹⁴Jesus told it, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again!” and his disciples heard it.

¹⁵Basi, wakafika Yerusalemu. Yesu akaingia Hekaluni, akaanza kuwafukuza nje watu waliokuwa wanauza na kununua vitu humo ndani. Akazipindua meza za wale waliokuwa wakibadilishana fedha na viti vya wale waliokuwa wakiuza njiwa.

¹⁵They came to Jerusalem, and Jesus entered into the temple, and began to throw out those who sold and those who bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money changers, and the seats of those who sold the doves.

¹⁶Hakumruhusu mtu yeyote kupitia Hekaluni akichukua kitu.

¹⁶He would not allow anyone to carry a container through the temple.

¹⁷Kisha akawafundisha, "Imeandikwa: Nyumba yangu itaitwa nyumba ya sala kwa ajili ya mataifa yote! Lakini ninyi mmeifanya kuwa pango la wanyang'anyi!"

¹⁷He taught, saying to them, “Isn’t it written, ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all the nations?’ Isaiah 56:7 But you have made it a den of robbers!” Jeremiah 7:11

¹⁸Makuhani wakuu na walimu wa Sheria waliposikia hayo, walianza kutafuta njia ya kumwangamiza. Lakini walimwogopa kwa sababu umati wa watu ulishangazwa na mafundisho yake.

¹⁸The chief priests and the scribes heard it, and sought how they might destroy him. For they feared him, because all the multitude was astonished at his teaching.

¹⁹Ilipokuwa jioni, Yesu na wanafunzi wake waliondoka mjini.

¹⁹When evening came, he went out of the city.

²⁰Asubuhi na mapema, walipokuwa wanapita, waliuona ule mtini umenyauka wote, hata mizizi.

²⁰As they passed by in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered away from the roots.

²¹Petro aliukumbuka, akamwambia Yesu, "Mwalimu, tazama! Ule mtini ulioulaani, umenyauka!"

²¹Peter, remembering, said to him, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree which you cursed has withered away.”

²²Yesu akawaambia, "Mwaminini Mungu.

²²Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God.

²³Nawaambieni kweli, mtu akiuambia mlima huu: Ng'oka ukajitose baharini bila kuona shaka moyoni mwake, ila akaamini kwamba mambo yote anayosema yanafanyika, atafanyiwa jambo hilo.

²³ For most certainly I tell you, whoever may tell this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and doesn’t doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is happening; he shall have whatever he says.

²⁴Kwa hiyo nawaambieni, mnaposali na kuomba kitu, aminini kwamba mmekipokea, nanyi mtapewa.

²⁴ Therefore I tell you, all things whatever you pray and ask for, believe that you have received them, and you shall have them.

²⁵Mnaposimama kusali, sameheni kila mtu aliyewakosea chochote, ili Baba yenu aliye mbinguni awasamehe ninyi makosa yenu.

²⁵ Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone; so that your Father, who is in heaven, may also forgive you your transgressions.

²⁶Lakini msipowasamehe wengine, hata Baba yenu aliye mbinguni hatawasamehe ninyi makosa yenu."

²⁶ But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your transgressions.”

²⁷Basi, wakafika tena Yerusalemu. Yesu alipokuwa akitembea Hekaluni, makuhani wakuu, walimu wa Sheria na wazee walimwendea,

²⁷They came again to Jerusalem, and as he was walking in the temple, the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders came to him,

²⁸wakamwuliza, "Unafanya mambo haya kwa mamlaka gani? Nani aliyekupa mamlaka ya kufanya mambo haya?"

²⁸and they began saying to him, “By what authority do you do these things? Or who gave you this authority to do these things?”

²⁹Lakini Yesu akawaambia, "Nitawaulizeni swali moja; mkinijibu, na pia nitawaambieni ni kwa mamlaka gani ninafanya mambo haya.

²⁹Jesus said to them, “I will ask you one question. Answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things.

³⁰Je, mamlaka ya Yohane ya kubatiza yalitoka mbinguni ama kwa watu? Nijibuni."

³⁰ The baptism of John—was it from heaven, or from men? Answer me.”

³¹Wakaanza kujadiliana, "Tukisema, Yalitoka mbinguni, atatuuliza, Basi, mbona hamkumsadiki?

³¹They reasoned with themselves, saying, “If we should say, ‘From heaven;’ he will say, ‘Why then did you not believe him?’

³²Na tukisema, Yalitoka kwa watu..." (Waliogopa umati wa watu maana wote waliamini kwamba Yohane alikuwa kweli nabii.)

³²If we should say, ‘From men’”—they feared the people, for all held John to really be a prophet.

³³Basi, wakamjibu Yesu, "Sisi hatujui." Naye Yesu akawaambia, "Nami pia sitawaambieni ninafanya mambo haya kwa mamlaka gani."

³³They answered Jesus, “We don’t know.” Jesus said to them, “Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.”
