1அக்காலத்திலே இஸ்ரவேலின் கோத்திரங்களெல்லாம் எப்ரோனிலிருக்கிற தாவீதினிடத்தில் வந்து: இதோ, நாங்கள் உம்முடைய எலும்பும் உம்முடைய மாம்சமுமானவர்கள்.
1Then came all the tribes of Israel to David to Hebron, and spoke, saying, “Behold, we are your bone and your flesh.
2சவுல் எங்கள்மேல் ராஜாவாயிருக்கும்போதே இஸ்ரவேலை நடத்திக்கொண்டுபோனவரும், நடத்திக்கொண்டு வந்தவரும் நீரே; கர்த்தர்: என் ஜனமாகிய இஸ்ரவேலை நீ மேய்த்து, நீ இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் தலைவனாயிருப்பாய் என்று உம்மிடத்தில் சொன்னாரே என்றார்கள்.
2In times past, when Saul was king over us, it was you who led out and brought in Israel. Yahweh said to you, ‘You shall be shepherd of my people Israel, and you shall be prince over Israel.’”
3இஸ்ரவேலின் மூப்பர் எல்லாரும் எப்ரோனிலே ராஜாவினிடத்தில் வந்தார்கள்; தாவீது ராஜா எப்ரோனிலே கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாக அவர்களோடே உடன்படிக்கைபண்ணினபின்பு, அவர்கள் தாவீதை இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் ராஜாவாக அபிஷேகம்பண்ணினார்கள்.
3So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a covenant with them in Hebron before Yahweh; and they anointed David king over Israel.
4தாவீது ராஜாவாகும்போது, முப்பது வயதாயிருந்தான்; அவன் நாற்பது வருஷம் ராஜ்யபாரம் பண்ணினான்.
4David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.
5அவன் எப்ரோனிலே யூதாவின்மேல் ஏழு வருஷமும் ஆறு மாதமும், எருசலேமிலே சமஸ்த இஸ்ரவேலின்மேலும் யூதாவின்மேலும் முப்பத்துமூன்று வருஷமும் ராஜ்யபாரம்பண்ணினான்.
5In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months; and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three years over all Israel and Judah.
6தேசத்திலே குடியிருக்கிற எபூசியர்மேல் யுத்தம்பண்ண ராஜாவானவன் தன் மனுஷரோடேகூட எருசலேமுக்குப் போனான். அவர்கள்: இதிலே பிரவேசிக்க தாவீதினால் கூடாது என்று எண்ணி, தாவீதை நோக்கி: நீ இதற்குள் பிரவேசிப்பதில்லை; குருடரும் சப்பாணிகளும் உன்னைத் தடுப்பார்கள் என்று சொன்னார்கள்.
6The king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who spoke to David, saying, “Unless you take away the blind and the lame, you shall not come in here”; thinking, “David can’t come in here.”
7ஆனாலும் தாவீது சீயோன் கோட்டையைப் பிடித்தான்; அது தாவீதின் நகரமாயிற்று.
7Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion; the same is the city of David.
8எவன் சாலகத்தின் வழியாய் ஏறி, எபூசியரையும் தாவீதின் ஆத்துமா பகைக்கிற சப்பாணிகளையும், குருடரையும் முறிய அடிக்கிறானோ, அவன் தலைவனாயிருப்பான் என்று தாவீது அன்றையதினம் சொல்லியிருந்தான்; அதனால் குருடனும் சப்பாணியும் வீட்டிலே வரலாகாது என்று சொல்லுகிறதுண்டு.
8David said on that day, “Whoever strikes the Jebusites, let him get up to the watercourse, and strike the lame and the blind, who are hated by David’s soul.” Therefore they say, “The blind and the lame can’t come into the house.”
9அந்தக் கோட்டையிலே தாவீது வாசம்பண்ணி, அதற்குத் தாவீதின் நகரம் என்று பேரிட்டு, மில்லோ என்னும் ஸ்தலந்துவக்கி, உட்புறமட்டும் சுற்றிலும் இருக்கிற மதிலைக் கட்டினான்.
9David lived in the stronghold, and called it the city of David. David built around from Millo and inward.
10தாவீது நாளுக்குநாள் விருத்தியடைந்தான்; சேனைகளின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் அவனோடேகூட இருந்தார்.
10David grew greater and greater; for Yahweh, the God of Armies, was with him.
11தீருவின் ராஜாவாகிய ஈராம் தாவீதினிடத்தில் ஸ்தானாபதிகளையும், கேதுரு மரங்களையும், தச்சரையும், கல்தச்சரையும் அனுப்பினான்; அவர்கள் தாவீதுக்கு ஒரு வீட்டைக் கட்டினார்கள்.
11Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and masons; and they built David a house.
12கர்த்தர் தன்னை இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் ராஜாவாகத் திடப்படுத்தி, தம்முடைய ஜனமாகிய இஸ்ரவேலினிமித்தம் தன்னுடைய ராஜ்யத்தை உயர்த்தினார் என்று தாவீது கண்டறிந்தபோது,
12David perceived that Yahweh had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel’s sake.
13அவன் எப்ரோனிலிருந்து வந்த பின்பு, எருசலேமில் இன்னும் அதிகமான மறுமனையாட்டிகளையும் ஸ்திரீகளையும் கொண்டான்; இன்னும் அதிக குமாரரும் குமாரத்திகளும் தாவீதுக்குப் பிறந்தார்கள்.
13David took him more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he had come from Hebron; and there were yet sons and daughters born to David.
14எருசலேமில் அவனுக்குச் சம்முவா, சோபாப், நாத்தான், சாலொமோன்,
14These are the names of those who were born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,
15இப்பார், எலிசூவா, நெப்பேக், யப்பியா,
15and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
16எலிஷாமா, எலியாதா, எலிப்பேலேத் என்னும் பேர்களையுடைய குமாரர் பிறந்தார்கள்.
16and Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphelet.
17தாவீதை இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் ராஜாவாக அபிஷேகம்பண்ணினார்கள் என்று பெலிஸ்தர் கேள்விப்பட்டபோது, அவர்கள் எல்லாரும் தாவீதைத் தேடும்படி வந்தார்கள்; அதைத் தாவீது கேட்டபோது, ஒரு அரணிப்பான இடத்துக்குப் போனான்.
17When the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the stronghold.
18பெலிஸ்தரோ வந்து, ரெப்பாயீம் பள்ளத்தாக்கிலே பரவியிருந்தார்கள்.
18Now the Philistines had come and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
19பெலிஸ்தருக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் போகலாமா, அவர்களை என் கையிலே ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பீரா என்று தாவீது கர்த்தரிடத்தில் விசாரித்தபோது, கர்த்தர்: போ, பெலிஸ்தரை உன் கையில் நிச்சயமாய் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பேன் என்று தாவீதுக்குச் சொன்னார்.
19David inquired of Yahweh, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hand?” Yahweh said to David, “Go up; for I will certainly deliver the Philistines into your hand.”
20தாவீது பாகால் பிராசீமுக்கு வந்து, அங்கே அவர்களை முறிய அடித்து: தண்ணீர்கள் உடைத்தோடுகிறதுபோல, கர்த்தர் என் சத்துருக்களை எனக்கு முன்பாக உடைத்து ஓடப்பண்ணினார் என்று சொல்லி, அதினிமித்தம் அந்த ஸ்தலத்திற்குப் பாகால்பிராசீம் என்று பேரிட்டான்.
20David came to Baal Perazim, and David struck them there; and he said, “Yahweh has broken my enemies before me, like the breach of waters.” Therefore he called the name of that place Baal Perazim.
21அங்கே பெலிஸ்தர் தங்கள் விக்கிரகங்களைவிட்டு ஓடிப்போனார்கள்; அவைகளைத் தாவீதும் அவன் மனுஷரும் சுட்டெரித்தார்கள்.
21They left their images there; and David and his men took them away.
22பெலிஸ்தர் திரும்பவும் வந்து, ரெப்பாயீம் பள்ளத்தாக்கிலே இறங்கினார்கள்.
22The Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
23தாவீது கர்த்தரிடத்தில் விசாரித்ததற்கு, அவர்: நீ நேராய்ப் போகாமல், அவர்களுக்குப் பின்னாலே சுற்றி, முசுக்கட்டைச் செடிகளுக்கு எதிரேயிருந்து, அவர்கள்மேல் பாய்ந்து,
23When David inquired of Yahweh, he said, “You shall not go up. Circle around behind them, and attack them over against the mulberry trees.
24முசுக்கட்டைச் செடிகளின் நுனிகளிலே செல்லுகிற இரைச்சலை நீ கேட்கும்போது, சீக்கிரமாய் எழும்பிப்போ; அப்பொழுது பெலிஸ்தரின் பாளயத்தை முறிய அடிக்க, கர்த்தர் உனக்கு முன்பாகப் புறப்பட்டிருப்பார் என்றார்.
24It shall be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then you shall stir yourself up; for then Yahweh has gone out before you to strike the army of the Philistines.”
25கர்த்தர் தாவீதுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபிரகாரம் அவன் செய்து, பெலிஸ்தரைக் கேபா துவக்கிக் கேசேர் எல்லைமட்டும் முறிய அடித்தான்.
25David did so, as Yahweh commanded him, and struck the Philistines from Geba until you come to Gezer.
