1அப்பொழுது சூகியனான பில்தாத் பிரதியுத்தரமாக:
1Then Bildad the Shuhite answered,
2அதிகாரமும் பயங்கரமும் அவரிடத்தில் இருக்கிறது; அவர் தமது உன்னதமான ஸ்தலங்களில் சமாதானத்தை உண்டாக்குகிறார்.
2“Dominion and fear are with him. He makes peace in his high places.
3அவருடைய சேனைகளுக்குத் தொகையுண்டோ? அவருடைய வெளிச்சம் யார்மேல் உதிக்காமலிருக்கிறது?
3Can his armies be counted? On whom does his light not arise?
4இப்படியிருக்க, மனுஷன் தேவனுக்கு முன்பாக நீதிமானாயிருப்பது எப்படி? ஸ்திரீயினிடத்தில் பிறந்தவன் சுத்தமாயிருப்பது எப்படி?
4How then can man be just with God? Or how can he who is born of a woman be clean?
5சந்திரனை அண்ணாந்துபாரும், அதுவும் பிரகாசியாமலிருக்கிறது; நட்சத்திரங்களும் அவர் பார்வைக்குச் சுத்தமானவைகள் அல்ல.
5Behold, even the moon has no brightness, and the stars are not pure in his sight;
6புழுவாயிருக்கிற மனிதனும், பூச்சியாயிருக்கிற மனுபுத்திரனும் எம்மாத்திரம் என்றான்.
6How much less man, who is a worm, the son of man, who is a worm!”
