¹Now the feast of unleavened bread, which is called the Passover, drew near.

²The chief priests and the scribes sought how they might put him to death, for they feared the people.

³அப்பொழுது பன்னிருவரில் ஒருவனாகிய ஸ்காரியோத்தென்னும் மறுபேர்கொண்ட யூதாசுக்குள் சாத்தான் புகுந்தான்.

³Satan entered into Judas, who was surnamed Iscariot, who was numbered with the twelve.

⁴அவன் பிரதான ஆசாரியர்களிடத்திலும் சேனைத்தலைவர்களிடத்திலும் போய், அவரைக் காட்டிக்கொடுக்கும் வகையைக்குறித்து அவர்களோடே ஆலோசனைபண்ணினான்.

⁴He went away, and talked with the chief priests and captains about how he might deliver him to them.

⁵அவர்கள் சந்தோஷப்பட்டு, அவனுக்குப் பணங்கொடுக்க உடன்பட்டார்கள்.

⁵They were glad, and agreed to give him money.

⁸He sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat.”

⁹They said to him, “Where do you want us to prepare?”

¹⁰He said to them, “Behold, when you have entered into the city, a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you. Follow him into the house which he enters.

¹¹ Tell the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, “Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?”’

¹² He will show you a large, furnished upper room. Make preparations there.”

¹³They went, found things as he had told them, and they prepared the Passover.

¹⁴When the hour had come, he sat down with the twelve apostles.

¹⁶ for I tell you, I will no longer by any means eat of it until it is fulfilled in the Kingdom of God.”

¹⁷He received a cup, and when he had given thanks, he said, “Take this, and share it among yourselves,

¹⁸ for I tell you, I will not drink at all again from the fruit of the vine, until the Kingdom of God comes.”

¹⁹He took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and gave to them, saying, “This is my body which is given for you. Do this in memory of me.”

²⁰Likewise, he took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.

²¹ But behold, the hand of him who betrays me is with me on the table.

²² The Son of Man indeed goes, as it has been determined, but woe to that man through whom he is betrayed!”

²³They began to question among themselves, which of them it was who would do this thing.

²⁴அன்றியும் தங்களில் எவன் பெரியவனாயிருப்பான் என்று அவர்களுக்குள்ளே வாக்குவாதம் உண்டாயிற்று.

²⁴There arose also a contention among them, which of them was considered to be greatest.

²⁵அவர் அவர்களை நோக்கி: புறஜாதியாரின் ராஜாக்கள் அவர்களை ஆளுகிறார்கள்; அவர்கள்மேல் அதிகாரம் செலுத்துகிறவர்களும் உபகாரிகள் என்னப்படுகிறார்கள்.

²⁵He said to them, “The kings of the nations lord it over them, and those who have authority over them are called ‘benefactors.’

²⁶உங்களுக்குள்ளே அப்படியிருக்கக்கூடாது; உங்களில் பெரியவன் சிறியவனைப்போலவும், தலைவன் பணிவிடைக்காரனைப்போலவும் இருக்கக்கடவன்.

²⁶ But not so with you. But one who is the greater among you, let him become as the younger, and one who is governing, as one who serves.

²⁷ For who is greater, one who sits at the table, or one who serves? Isn’t it he who sits at the table? But I am in the midst of you as one who serves.

²⁸ But you are those who have continued with me in my trials.

²⁹ I confer on you a kingdom, even as my Father conferred on me,

³⁰ that you may eat and drink at my table in my Kingdom. You will sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”

³¹The Lord said, “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan asked to have you, that he might sift you as wheat,

³² but I prayed for you, that your faith wouldn’t fail. You, when once you have turned again, establish your brothers The word for “brothers” here may be also correctly translated “brothers and sisters” or “siblings.” .”

³³அதற்கு அவன்: ஆண்டவரே, காவலிலும் சாவிலும் உம்மைப் பின்பற்றிவர, ஆயத்தமாயிருக்கிறேன் என்றான்.

³³He said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death!”

³⁴அவர் அவனை நோக்கி: பேதுருவே, இன்றைக்குச் சேவல் கூவுகிறதற்கு முன்னே நீ என்னை அறிந்திருக்கிறதை மூன்றுதரம் மறுதலிப்பாய் என்று உனக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றார்.

³⁴He said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will by no means crow today until you deny that you know me three times.”

³⁵He said to them, “When I sent you out without purse, and wallet, and shoes, did you lack anything?” They said, “Nothing.”

³⁶Then he said to them, “But now, whoever has a purse, let him take it, and likewise a wallet. Whoever has none, let him sell his cloak, and buy a sword.

³⁷அக்கிரமக்காரரில் ஒருவனாக எண்ணப்பட்டார் என்று எழுதியிருக்கிற வாக்கியம் என்னிடத்தில் நிறைவேறவேண்டியதென்று உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன். என்னைப்பற்றிய காரியங்கள் முடிவு பெறுங்காலம் வந்திருக்கிறது என்றார்.

³⁷ For I tell you that this which is written must still be fulfilled in me: ‘He was counted with transgressors.’ Isaiah 53:12 For that which concerns me has an end.”

³⁸அதற்கு அவர்கள்: ஆண்டவரே, இதோ, இங்கே இரண்டு பட்டயம் இருக்கிறது என்றார்கள். அவர்: போதும் என்றார்.

³⁸They said, “Lord, behold, here are two swords.” He said to them, “That is enough.”

³⁹He came out, and went, as his custom was, to the Mount of Olives. His disciples also followed him.

⁴⁰When he was at the place, he said to them, “Pray that you don’t enter into temptation.”

⁴¹He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and he knelt down and prayed,

⁴²பிதாவே, உமக்குச் சித்தமானால் இந்தப் பாத்திரம் என்னைவிட்டு நீங்கும்படி செய்யும்; ஆயினும் என்னுடைய சித்தத்தின்படியல்ல, உம்முடைய சித்தத்தின்படியே ஆகக்கடவது என்று ஜெபம்பண்ணினார்.

⁴²saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”

⁴³அப்பொழுது வானத்திலிருந்து ஒரு தூதன் தோன்றி, அவரைப் பலப்படுத்தினான்.

⁴³An angel from heaven appeared to him, strengthening him.

⁴⁴அவர் மிகவும் வியாகுலப்பட்டு, அதிக ஊக்கத்தோடே ஜெபம்பண்ணினார். அவருடைய வேர்வை இரத்தத்தின் பெருந்துளிகளாய்த் தரையிலே விழுந்தது.

⁴⁴Being in agony he prayed more earnestly. His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down on the ground.

⁴⁵அவர் ஜெபம்பண்ணி முடித்து, எழுந்திருந்து, தம்முடைய சீஷரிடத்தில் வந்து, அவர்கள் துக்கத்தினாலே நித்திரைபண்ணுகிறதைக் கண்டு:

⁴⁵When he rose up from his prayer, he came to the disciples, and found them sleeping because of grief,

⁴⁶and said to them, “Why do you sleep? Rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation.”

⁴⁷While he was still speaking, behold, a multitude, and he who was called Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them. He came near to Jesus to kiss him.

⁴⁸இயேசு அவனை நோக்கி: யூதாசே, முத்தத்தினாலேயா மனுஷகுமாரனைக் காட்டிக்கொடுக்கிறாய் என்றார்.

⁴⁸But Jesus said to him, “Judas, do you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?”

⁴⁹அவரைச் சூழநின்றவர்கள் நடக்கப்போகிறதைக் கண்டு: ஆண்டவரே, பட்டயத்தினாலே வெட்டுவோமா என்றார்கள்.

⁴⁹When those who were around him saw what was about to happen, they said to him, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?”

⁵⁰அந்தப்படியே அவர்களில் ஒருவன் பிரதான ஆசாரியனுடைய வேலைக்காரனை வலதுகாதற வெட்டினான்.

⁵⁰A certain one of them struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.

⁵¹அப்பொழுது இயேசு: இம்மட்டில் நிறுத்துங்கள் என்று சொல்லி, அவனுடைய காதைத்தொட்டு, அவனைச் சொஸ்தப்படுத்தினார்.

⁵¹But Jesus answered, “Let me at least do this” —and he touched his ear, and healed him.

⁵²பின்பு இயேசு தமக்கு விரோதமாய் வந்த பிரதான ஆசாரியர்களையும் தேவாலயத்துச் சேனைத்தலைவர்களையும் மூப்பர்களையும் நோக்கி: ஒரு கள்ளனைப்பிடிக்கப் புறப்பட்டு வருகிறதுபோல, நீங்கள் பட்டயங்களையும் தடிகளையும் எடுத்துப் புறப்பட்டு வந்தீர்களே.

⁵²Jesus said to the chief priests, captains of the temple, and elders, who had come against him, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs?

⁵³ When I was with you in the temple daily, you didn’t stretch out your hands against me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness.”

⁵⁴அவர்கள் அவரைப் பிடித்தபின்பு, பிரதான ஆசாரியனுடைய வீட்டில் கொண்டுபோய்விட்டார்கள். பேதுருவும் தூரத்திலே பின்சென்றான்.

⁵⁴They seized him, and led him away, and brought him into the high priest’s house. But Peter followed from a distance.

⁵⁵அவர்கள் முற்றத்தின் நடுவிலே நெருப்பை மூட்டி, அதைச் சுற்றி உட்கார்ந்தபோது, பேதுருவும் அவர்கள் நடுவிலே உட்கார்ந்தான்.

⁵⁵When they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard, and had sat down together, Peter sat among them.

⁵⁶அப்பொழுது ஒரு வேலைக்காரி அவன் நெருப்பண்டையிலே உட்கார்ந்திருக்கக்கண்டு, அவனை உற்றுப்பார்த்து: இவனும் அவனோடிருந்தான் என்றாள்.

⁵⁶A certain servant girl saw him as he sat in the light, and looking intently at him, said, “This man also was with him.”

⁵⁷அதற்கு அவன்: ஸ்திரீயே, அவனை அறியேன் என்று மறுதலித்தான்.

⁵⁷He denied Jesus, saying, “Woman, I don’t know him.”

⁵⁸சற்றுநேரத்துக்குப்பின்பு வேறொருவன் அவனைக் கண்டு: நீயும் அவர்களில் ஒருவன் என்றான். அதற்குப் பேதுரு: மனுஷனே, நான் அல்ல என்றான்.

⁵⁸After a little while someone else saw him, and said, “You also are one of them!” But Peter answered, “Man, I am not!”

⁵⁹ஏறக்குறைய ஒருமணி நேரத்துக்குப்பின்பு வேறொருவன் அவனைப் பார்த்து: மெய்யாகவே இவனும் அவனோடிருந்தான், இவன் கலிலேயன்தான் என்று சாதித்தான்.

⁵⁹After about one hour passed, another confidently affirmed, saying, “Truly this man also was with him, for he is a Galilean!”

⁶⁰அதற்குப் பேதுரு: மனுஷனே, நீ சொல்லுகிறதை அறியேன் என்றான். அவன் இப்படிச் சொன்னவுடனே சேவல் கூவிற்று.

⁶⁰But Peter said, “Man, I don’t know what you are talking about!” Immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.

⁶¹அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் திரும்பி, பேதுருவை நோக்கிப் பார்த்தார். சேவல் கூவுகிறதற்கு முன்னே நீ என்னை மூன்றுதரம் மறுதலிப்பாய் என்று கர்த்தர் தன்னிடத்தில் சொன்ன வசனத்தை உடனே பேதுரு நினைவுகூர்ந்து,

⁶¹The Lord turned, and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the Lord’s word, how he said to him, “Before the rooster crows you will deny me three times.”

⁶²வெளியே போய், மனங்கசந்து அழுதான்.

⁶²He went out, and wept bitterly.

⁶³இயேசுவைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்ட மனுஷர் அவரைப் பரியாசம்பண்ணி, அடித்து,

⁶³The men who held Jesus mocked him and beat him.

⁶⁴அவருடைய கண்களைக் கட்டி, அவருடைய முகத்தில் அறைந்து: உன்னை அடித்தவன் யார், அதை ஞானதிருஷ்டியினால் சொல் என்று அவரைக் கேட்டதுமன்றி,

⁶⁴Having blindfolded him, they struck him on the face and asked him, “Prophesy! Who is the one who struck you?”

⁶⁵They spoke many other things against him, insulting him.

⁶⁶As soon as it was day, the assembly of the elders of the people was gathered together, both chief priests and scribes, and they led him away into their council, saying,

⁶⁷நீ கிறிஸ்துவா? அதை எங்களுக்குச் சொல் என்றார்கள். அதற்கு அவர்: நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொன்னாலும் நம்பமாட்டீர்கள்.

⁶⁷“If you are the Christ, tell us.” But he said to them, “If I tell you, you won’t believe,

⁶⁸நான் உங்களிடத்தில் வினாவினாலும் எனக்கு மாறுத்தரம் சொல்லமாட்டீர்கள், என்னை விடுதலைபண்ணவுமாட்டீர்கள்.

⁶⁸ and if I ask, you will in no way answer me or let me go.

⁶⁹இதுமுதல் மனுஷகுமாரன் சர்வவல்லமையுள்ள தேவனுடைய வலதுபாரிசத்தில் வீற்றிருப்பார் என்றார்.

⁶⁹ From now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God.”

⁷⁰அதற்கு அவர்களெல்லாரும்: அப்படியானால், நீ தேவனுடைய குமாரனா என்று கேட்டார்கள். அதற்கு அவர்: நீங்கள் சொல்லுகிறபடியே நான் அவர்தான் என்றார்.

⁷⁰They all said, “Are you then the Son of God?” He said to them, “You say it, because I am.”

⁷¹அப்பொழுது அவர்கள்: இனி வேறு சாட்சி நமக்கு வேண்டுவதென்ன? நாமே இவனுடைய வாயினாலே கேட்டோமே என்றார்கள்.

⁷¹They said, “Why do we need any more witness? For we ourselves have heard from his own mouth!”
