¹பிலேயாம் பாலாகை நோக்கி: நீர் இங்கே எனக்கு ஏழு பலிபீடங்களைக் கட்டி, ஏழு காளைகளையும் ஏழு ஆட்டுக்கடாக்களையும் இங்கே எனக்கு ஆயத்தப்படுத்தும் என்றான்.

¹Balaam said to Balak, “Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven bulls and seven rams.”

²பிலேயாம் சொன்னபடியே பாலாக் செய்தான்; பாலாகும் பிலேயாமும் ஒவ்வொரு பீடத்தில் ஒவ்வொரு காளையையும் ஒவ்வொரு ஆட்டுக்கடாவையும் பலியிட்டார்கள்.

²Balak did as Balaam had spoken; and Balak and Balaam offered on every altar a bull and a ram.

³பின்பு பிலேயாம் பாலாகை நோக்கி: உம்முடைய சர்வாங்கதகனபலியண்டையில் நில்லும், நான் போய்வருகிறேன்; கர்த்தர் வந்து என்னைச் சந்திக்கிறதாயிருக்கும்; அவர் எனக்கு வெளிப்படுத்துவதை உமக்கு அறிவிப்பேன் என்று சொல்லி, ஒரு மேட்டின்மேல் ஏறினான்.

³Balaam said to Balak, “Stand by your burnt offering, and I will go: perhaps Yahweh will come to meet me; and whatever he shows me I will tell you.” He went to a bare height.

⁴தேவன் பிலேயாமைச் சந்தித்தார்; அப்பொழுது அவன் அவரை நோக்கி: நான் ஏழு பலிபீடங்களை ஆயத்தம்பண்ணி, ஒவ்வொரு பலிபீடத்தில் ஒவ்வொரு காளையையும் ஒவ்வொரு ஆட்டுக்கடாவையும் பலியிட்டேன் என்றான்.

⁴God met Balaam: and he said to him, “I have prepared the seven altars, and I have offered up a bull and a ram on every altar.”

⁵கர்த்தர் பிலேயாமின் வாயிலே வாக்கு அருளி: நீ பாலாகினிடத்தில் திரும்பிப் போய், இவ்விதமாய்ச் சொல்லக்கடவாய் என்றார்.

⁵Yahweh put a word in Balaam’s mouth, and said, “Return to Balak, and thus you shall speak.”

⁶அவனிடத்துக்கு அவன் திரும்பிப்போனான்; பாலாக் மோவாபுடைய சகல பிரபுக்களோடுங்கூட தன் சர்வாங்கதகனபலியண்டையிலே நின்று கொண்டிருந்தான்.

⁶He returned to him, and behold, he was standing by his burnt offering, he, and all the princes of Moab.

⁷அப்பொழுது அவன் தன் வாக்கியத்தை எடுத்துரைத்து: மோவாபின் ராஜாவாகிய பாலாக் என்னைக் கிழக்கு மலைகளிலுள்ள ஆராமிலிருந்து வரவழைத்து: நீ வந்து எனக்காக யாக்கோபைச் சபிக்கவேண்டும்; நீ வந்து இஸ்ரவேலை வெறுத்துவிடவேண்டும் என்று சொன்னான்.

⁷He took up his parable, and said, “From Aram has Balak brought me, the king of Moab from the mountains of the East. Come, curse Jacob for me. Come, defy Israel.

⁸தேவன் சபிக்காதவனை நான் சபிப்பதெப்படி? கர்த்தர் வெறுக்காதவனை நான் வெறுப்பதெப்படி?

⁸How shall I curse whom God has not cursed? How shall I defy whom Yahweh has not defied?

⁹கன்மலையுச்சியிலிருந்து நான் அவனைக் கண்டு, குன்றுகளிலிருந்து அவனைப் பார்க்கிறேன்; அந்த ஜனங்கள் ஜாதிகளோடே கலவாமல் தனியே வாசமாயிருப்பார்கள்.

⁹For from the top of the rocks I see him. From the hills I see him. Behold, it is a people that dwells alone, and shall not be reckoned among the nations.

¹⁰யாக்கோபின் தூளை எண்ணத்தக்கவன் யார்? இஸ்ரவேலின் காற்பங்கை எண்ணுகிறவன் யார்? நீதிமான் மரிப்பதுபோல் நான் மரிப்பேனாக, என் முடிவு அவன் முடிவுபோல் இருப்பதாக என்றான்.

¹⁰Who can count the dust of Jacob, or number the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous! Let my last end be like his!”

¹¹அப்பொழுது பாலாக் பிலேயாமை நோக்கி: நீர் எனக்கு என்ன செய்தீர்; என் சத்துருக்களைச் சபிக்கும்படி உம்மை அழைப்பித்தேன்; நீர் அவர்களை ஆசீர்வதிக்கவே ஆசீர்வதித்தீர் என்றான்.

¹¹Balak said to Balaam, “What have you done to me? I took you to curse my enemies, and behold, you have blessed them altogether.”

¹²அதற்கு அவன்: கர்த்தர் என் வாயில் அருளினதையே சொல்வது என் கடமையல்லவா என்றான்.

¹²He answered and said, “Must I not take heed to speak that which Yahweh puts in my mouth?”

¹³பின்பு பாலாக் அவனை நோக்கி: நீர் அவர்களைப் பார்க்கத்தக்க வேறொரு இடத்திற்கு என்னோடேகூட வாரும்; அங்கே அவர்கள் எல்லாரையும் பாராமல், அவர்களுடைய கடைசிப் பாளயத்தை மாத்திரம் பார்ப்பீர்; அங்கேயிருந்து எனக்காக அவர்களைச் சபிக்கவேண்டும் என்று சொல்லி,

¹³Balak said to him, “Please come with me to another place, where you may see them; you shall see but the utmost part of them, and shall not see them all: and curse me them from there.”

¹⁴அவனைப் பிஸ்காவின் கொடுமுடியில் இருக்கிற சோப்பீமின் வெளியிலே அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோய், ஏழு பலிபீடங்களைக் கட்டி, ஒவ்வொரு பீடத்தில் ஒவ்வொரு காளையையும் ஒவ்வொரு ஆட்டுக்கடாவையும் பலியிட்டான்.

¹⁴He took him into the field of Zophim, to the top of Pisgah, and built seven altars, and offered up a bull and a ram on every altar.

¹⁵அப்பொழுது பிலேயாம் பாலாகை நோக்கி: இங்கே உம்முடைய சர்வாங்கதகனபலியண்டையில் நில்லும்; நான் அங்கே போய்க் கர்த்தரைச் சந்தித்துவருகிறேன் என்றான்.

¹⁵He said to Balak, “Stand here by your burnt offering, while I meet over there.”

¹⁶கர்த்தர் பிலேயாமைச் சந்தித்து, அவன் வாயிலே வசனத்தை அருளி; நீ பாலாகினிடத்திற்குத் திரும்பிப்போய், இவ்விதமாய்ச் சொல்லக்கடவாய் என்றார்.

¹⁶Yahweh met Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and said, “Return to Balak, and say this.”

¹⁷அவனிடத்திற்கு அவன் வருகிறபோது, அவன் மோவாபின் பிரபுக்களோடுங்கூடத் தன்னுடைய சர்வாங்கதகனபலியண்டையிலே நின்று கொண்டிருந்தான்; பாலாக் அவனை நோக்கி: கர்த்தர் என்ன சொன்னார் என்று கேட்டான்.

¹⁷He came to him, and behold, he was standing by his burnt offering, and the princes of Moab with him. Balak said to him, “What has Yahweh spoken?”

¹⁸அப்பொழுது அவன் தன் வாக்கியத்தை எடுத்துரைத்து: பாலாகே, எழுந்திருந்து கேளும்; சிப்போரின் குமாரனே, எனக்குச் செவிகொடும்.

¹⁸He took up his parable, and said, “Rise up, Balak, and hear! Listen to me, you son of Zippor.

¹⁹பொய் சொல்ல தேவன் ஒரு மனிதன் அல்ல; மனம்மாற அவர் ஒரு மனுபுத்திரனும் அல்ல; அவர் சொல்லியும் செய்யாதிருப்பாரா? அவர் வசனித்தும் நிறைவேற்றாதிருப்பாரா?

¹⁹God is not a man, that he should lie, nor the son of man, that he should repent. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not make it good?

²⁰இதோ, ஆசீர்வதிக்கக் கட்டளைபெற்றேன்; அவர் ஆசீர்வதிக்கிறார், அதை நான் திருப்பக்கூடாது.

²⁰Behold, I have received a command to bless. He has blessed, and I can’t reverse it.

²¹அவர் யாக்கோபிலே அக்கிரமத்தைக் காண்கிறதும் இல்லை, இஸ்ரவேலிலே குற்றம் பார்க்கிறதும் இல்லை; அவர்களுடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் அவர்களோடே இருக்கிறார்; ராஜாவின் ஜயகெம்பீரம் அவர்களுக்குள்ளே இருக்கிறது.

²¹He has not seen iniquity in Jacob. Neither has he seen perverseness in Israel. Yahweh his God is with him. The shout of a king is among them.

²²தேவன் அவர்களை எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணினார்; காண்டாமிருகத்துக்கொத்த பெலன் அவர்களுக்கு உண்டு.

²²God brings them out of Egypt. He has as it were the strength of the wild ox.

²³யாக்கோபுக்கு விரோதமான மந்திரவாதம் இல்லை, இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு விரோதமான குறிசொல்லுதலும் இல்லை; தேவன் என்னென்ன செய்தார் என்று கொஞ்சக்காலத்திலே யாக்கோபையும் இஸ்ரவேலையும் குறித்துச் சொல்லப்படும்.

²³Surely there is no enchantment with Jacob; Neither is there any divination with Israel. Now it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What has God done!

²⁴அந்த ஜனம் துஷ்ட சிங்கம்போல எழும்பும், பால சிங்கம்போல நிமிர்ந்து நிற்கும்; அது தான் பிடித்த இரையைப்பட்சித்து, வெட்டுண்டவர்களின் இரத்தத்தைக் குடிக்குமட்டும் படுத்துக்கொள்வதில்லை என்றான்.

²⁴Behold, the people rises up as a lioness, As a lion he lifts himself up. He shall not lie down until he eat of the prey, and drinks the blood of the slain.”

²⁵அப்பொழுது பாலாக் பிலேயாமை நோக்கி: நீர் அவர்களைச் சபிக்கவும் வேண்டாம், அவர்களை ஆசீர்வதிக்கவும் வேண்டாம் என்றான்.

²⁵Balak said to Balaam, “Neither curse them at all, nor bless them at all.”

²⁶அதற்குப் பிலேயாம் பாலாகைப் பார்த்து: கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறபடியெல்லாம் செய்வேன் என்று உம்மோடே நான் சொல்லவில்லையா என்றான்.

²⁶But Balaam answered Balak, “Didn’t I tell you, saying, ‘All that Yahweh speaks, that I must do?’”

²⁷அப்பொழுது பாலாக் பிலேயாமை நோக்கி: வாரும், வேறொரு இடத்திற்கு உம்மை அழைத்துக்கொண்டு போகிறேன்; நீர் அங்கேயிருந்தாவது எனக்காக அவர்களைச் சபிக்கிறது தேவனுக்குப் பிரியமாயிருக்கும் என்று சொல்லி,

²⁷Balak said to Balaam, “Come now, I will take you to another place; perhaps it will please God that you may curse me them from there.”

²⁸அவனை எஷிமோனுக்கு எதிராயிருக்கிற பேயோரின் கொடுமுடிக்கு அழைத்துக்கொண்டு போனான்.

²⁸Balak took Balaam to the top of Peor, that looks down on the desert.

²⁹அப்பொழுது பிலேயாம் பாலாகை நோக்கி: இங்கே எனக்கு ஏழு பலிபீடங்களைக் கட்டி, இங்கே எனக்கு ஏழு காளைகளையும் ஏழு ஆட்டுக்கடாக்களையும் ஆயத்தம்பண்ணும் என்றான்.

²⁹Balaam said to Balak, “Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven bulls and seven rams.”

³⁰பிலேயாம் சொன்னபடி பாலாக் செய்து, ஒவ்வொரு பீடத்தில் ஒவ்வொரு காளையையும் ஒவ்வொரு ஆட்டுக்கடாவையும் பலியிட்டான்.

³⁰Balak did as Balaam had said, and offered up a bull and a ram on every altar.
