¹และอยู่มาพอสิ้นปีแล้วเมื่อบรรดากษัตริย์ยกกองทัพออกไปรบ โยอาบก็นำกำลังกองทัพไปกวาดล้างแผ่นดินของคนอัมโมน และมาล้อมเมืองรับบาห์ไว้ แต่ดาวิดประทับที่เยรูซาเล็ม และโยอาบก็โจมตีเมืองรับบาห์ และคว่ำเมืองนั้นเสีย

¹It happened, at the time of the return of the year, at the time when kings go out, that Joab led forth the army, and wasted the country of the children of Ammon, and came and besieged Rabbah. But David stayed at Jerusalem. Joab struck Rabbah, and overthrew it.

²และดาวิดทรงถอดมงกุฎจากพระเศียรของกษัตริย์ของเขาทั้งหลาย พระองค์ทรงทราบว่ามงกุฎนั้นมีทองคำหนักหนึ่งตะลันต์ และมีเพชรพลอยต่างๆ ซึ่งต่อมาอยู่บนพระเศียรของดาวิด และพระองค์ทรงริบของจากเมืองนั้นได้ข้าวของเป็นอันมาก

²David took the crown of their king from off his head, and found it to weigh a talent of gold, and there were precious stones in it; and it was set on David’s head: and he brought forth the spoil of the city, exceeding much.

³พระองค์ทรงนำประชาชนที่อยู่ในเมืองนั้นออกมา ตั้งเขาให้ทำงานหนักอยู่กับเลื่อยและเหล็กขุดและขวาน และดาวิดทรงกระทำเช่นนั้นแก่หัวเมืองทั้งสิ้นของคนอัมโมน แล้วดาวิดกับประชาชนทั้งปวงก็กลับสู่เยรูซาเล็ม

³He brought forth the people who were therein, and cut them with saws, and with iron picks, and with axes. David did so to all the cities of the children of Ammon. David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.

⁴และอยู่มาภายหลังเกิดสงครามขึ้นกับคนฟีลิสเตียที่เมืองเกเซอร์ แล้วสิบเบคัยคนหุชาห์ได้สังหารสิปปัยผู้เป็นลูกหลานของคนยักษ์เสีย และคนฟีลิสเตียก็ถูกปราบปราม

⁴It happened after this, that there arose war at Gezer with the Philistines: then Sibbecai the Hushathite killed Sippai, of the sons of the giant; and they were subdued.

⁵และมีสงครามกับคนฟีลิสเตียอีก และเอลฮานันบุตรชายยาอีร์ได้ฆ่าลามีบุตรชายของโกลิอัทชาวกัทเสีย ผู้มีหอกที่มีด้ามโตเท่าไม้กระพั่นทอผ้า

⁵There was again war with the Philistines; and Elhanan the son of Jair killed Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam.

⁶และมีสงครามที่เมืองกัทอีก มีชายคนหนึ่งรูปร่างใหญ่โต ผู้ที่มือข้างหนึ่งมีนิ้วหกนิ้ว และนิ้วเท้าข้างละหกนิ้ว จำนวนยี่สิบสี่นิ้ว และเขาเป็นบุตรชายของคนยักษ์ด้วย

⁶There was again war at Gath, where there was a man of great stature, whose fingers and toes were twenty-four, six on each hand, and six on each foot; and he also was born to the giant.

⁷และเมื่อเขาท้าทายอิสราเอล โยนาธานบุตรชายชิเมอีพระเชษฐาของดาวิดก็ประหารเขาเสีย

⁷When he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea David’s brother killed him.

⁸คนเหล่านี้บังเกิดแก่คนยักษ์ในเมืองกัท และเขาล้มตายด้วยพระหัตถ์ของดาวิด และด้วยมือผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์

⁸These were born to the giant in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.
