¹Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and our brother Sosthenes,

²เรียน คริสตจักรของพระเจ้าที่เมืองโครินธ์ ผู้ได้รับการชำระให้บริสุทธิ์แล้วในพระเยซูคริสต์ ซึ่งพระองค์ได้ทรงเรียกให้เป็นวิสุทธิชน ด้วยกันกับคนทั้งปวงในทุกตำบลที่ออกพระนามพระเยซูคริสต์องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าของเราและของเขา

²to the assembly of God which is at Corinth; those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place, both theirs and ours:

³ขอพระคุณและสันติสุขจากพระเจ้าพระบิดาของเราและจากพระเยซูคริสต์เจ้า จงดำรงอยู่กับท่านทั้งหลายเถิด

³Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

⁴ข้าพเจ้าขอบพระคุณพระเจ้าของข้าพเจ้าในเรื่องท่านทั้งหลายเสมอ เพราะพระคุณของพระเจ้าซึ่งทรงประทานแก่ท่านทั้งหลายโดยพระเยซูคริสต์

⁴I always thank my God concerning you, for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus;

⁵เพราะท่านทั้งหลายพรั่งพร้อมด้วยทุกสิ่งทุกอย่างโดยพระองค์ คือพร้อมด้วยวาจาและความรู้ทุกอย่าง

⁵that in everything you were enriched in him, in all speech and all knowledge;

⁶ด้วยว่าพยานเรื่องพระคริสต์นั้นเป็นที่รับรองแน่นอนในพวกท่านแล้ว

⁶even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:

⁷เพื่อว่าท่านทั้งหลายจึงมิได้ขาดของประทานเลย ในขณะที่ท่านรอคอยการเสด็จมาของพระเยซูคริสต์องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าของเรา

⁷so that you come behind in no gift; waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ;

⁸พระองค์จะทรงให้ท่านมั่นคงอยู่จนถึงที่สุด เพื่อให้ท่านปราศจากที่ติในวันของพระเยซูคริสต์องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าของเรา

⁸who will also confirm you until the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

⁹พระเจ้าทรงสัตย์ซื่อ พระองค์ได้ทรงเรียกท่านให้สัมพันธ์สนิทกับพระบุตรของพระองค์ คือพระเยซูคริสต์องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าของเรา

⁹God is faithful, through whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord.

¹⁰พี่น้องทั้งหลาย ข้าพเจ้าจึงวิงวอนท่านในพระนามของพระเยซูคริสต์องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าของเรา ขอให้ท่านเห็นพร้อมกันในทางวาจา และไม่มีการแตกแยกกันระหว่างพวกท่าน แต่ขอให้ท่านเป็นน้ำหนึ่งใจเดียวกันในทางความคิดและตัดสินอย่างเดียวกัน

¹⁰Now I beg you, brothers, The word for “brothers” here and where context allows may also be correctly translated “brothers and sisters” or “siblings.” through the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfected together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

¹¹พี่น้องทั้งหลายของข้าพเจ้า คนในครอบครัวของนางคะโลเอได้เล่าเรื่องของท่านให้ข้าพเจ้าฟังว่า เกิดมีการทุ่มเถียงกันในระหว่างพวกท่าน

¹¹For it has been reported to me concerning you, my brothers, by those who are from Chloe’s household, that there are contentions among you.

¹²ข้าพเจ้าจึงหมายความว่า พวกท่านต่างก็กล่าวว่า "ข้าพเจ้าเป็นศิษย์เปาโล" หรือ "ข้าพเจ้าเป็นศิษย์อปอลโล" หรือ "ข้าพเจ้าเป็นศิษย์เคฟาส" หรือ "ข้าพเจ้าเป็นศิษย์พระคริสต์"

¹²Now I mean this, that each one of you says, “I follow Paul,” “I follow Apollos,” “I follow Cephas,” and, “I follow Christ.”

¹³พระคริสต์แบ่งออกเป็นหลายองค์แล้วหรือ เขาได้ตรึงเปาโลเพื่อท่านทั้งหลายหรือ ท่านได้รับบัพติศมาในนามของเปาโลหรือ

¹³Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized into the name of Paul?

¹⁴ข้าพเจ้าขอบพระคุณพระเจ้าที่ข้าพเจ้ามิได้ให้บัพติศมาแก่ผู้หนึ่งผู้ใดในพวกท่าน เว้นแต่คริสปัสและกายอัส

¹⁴I thank God that I baptized none of you, except Crispus and Gaius,

¹⁵ดังนั้น จึงไม่มีผู้ใดกล่าวได้ว่า ข้าพเจ้าได้ทำพิธีบัพติศมาในนามของข้าพเจ้าเอง

¹⁵so that no one should say that I had baptized you into my own name.

¹⁶ข้าพเจ้าได้ให้บัพติศมาแก่ครอบครัวของสเทฟานัสด้วย แต่นอกจากคนเหล่านั้นแล้ว ข้าพเจ้าไม่ทราบว่าข้าพเจ้าได้ให้บัพติศมาแก่ผู้ใดอีกบ้าง

¹⁶(I also baptized the household of Stephanas; besides them, I don’t know whether I baptized any other.)

¹⁷เพราะว่าพระคริสต์มิได้ทรงใช้ข้าพเจ้าไปเพื่อให้เขารับบัพติศมา แต่เพื่อให้ประกาศข่าวประเสริฐ แต่มิใช่ด้วยชั้นเชิงฉลาดในการพูด เกรงว่าเรื่องกางเขนของพระคริสต์จะหมดฤทธิ์เดช

¹⁷For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the Good News—not in wisdom of words, so that the cross of Christ wouldn’t be made void.

¹⁸คนทั้งหลายที่กำลังจะพินาศก็เห็นว่าการประกาศเรื่องกางเขนเป็นเรื่องโง่ แต่พวกเราที่รอดเห็นว่าเป็นฤทธานุภาพของพระเจ้า

¹⁸For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are dying, but to us who are saved it is the power of God.

¹⁹เพราะมีคำเขียนไว้แล้วว่า `เราจะทำลายสติปัญญาของคนมีปัญญา และจะทำให้ความเข้าใจของคนที่เข้าใจสูญสิ้นไป'

¹⁹For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, I will bring the discernment of the discerning to nothing.” Isaiah 29:14

²⁰คนมีปัญญาอยู่ที่ไหน บัณฑิตอยู่ที่ไหน นักโต้ปัญหาแห่งยุคนี้อยู่ที่ไหน พระเจ้ามิได้ทรงกระทำปัญญาของโลกนี้ให้โฉดเขลาไปแล้วหรือ

²⁰Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the lawyer of this world? Hasn’t God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

²¹เพราะตามที่ทรงกำหนดไว้ตามพระสติปัญญาของพระเจ้า โลกไม่รู้จักพระเจ้าได้โดยปัญญาของตน พระเจ้าจึงทรงโปรดช่วยคนที่เชื่อให้รอด โดยการประกาศเรื่องที่ถือว่าโง่ๆ

²¹For seeing that in the wisdom of God, the world through its wisdom didn’t know God, it was God’s good pleasure through the foolishness of the preaching to save those who believe.

²²ด้วยว่าพวกยิวขอเห็นหมายสำคัญและพวกกรีกเสาะหาปัญญา

²²For Jews ask for signs, Greeks seek after wisdom,

²³แต่พวกเราประกาศเรื่องพระคริสต์ผู้ทรงถูกตรึงที่กางเขนนั้น อันเป็นสิ่งที่ให้พวกยิวสะดุด และพวกกรีกถือว่าเป็นเรื่องโง่

²³but we preach Christ crucified; a stumbling block to Jews, and foolishness to Greeks,

²⁴แต่สำหรับผู้ที่พระเจ้าทรงเรียกนั้น ทั้งพวกยิวและพวกกรีกต่างถือว่า พระคริสต์ทรงเป็นฤทธานุภาพและพระปัญญาของพระเจ้า

²⁴but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.

²⁵เพราะความเขลาของพระเจ้ายังมีปัญญายิ่งกว่าปัญญาของมนุษย์ และความอ่อนแอของพระเจ้าก็ยังเข้มแข็งยิ่งกว่ากำลังของมนุษย์

²⁵Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

²⁶พี่น้องทั้งหลาย จงพิจารณาดูว่า พวกท่านที่พระเจ้าได้ทรงเรียกมานั้นเป็นคนพวกไหน มีน้อยคนที่โลกนิยมว่ามีปัญญา มีน้อยคนที่มีอำนาจ มีน้อยคนที่มีตระกูลสูง

²⁶For you see your calling, brothers, that not many are wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, and not many noble;

²⁷แต่พระเจ้าได้ทรงเลือกสิ่งที่โลกถือว่าโง่เขลา เพื่อจะทำให้คนมีปัญญาอับอาย และพระเจ้าได้ทรงเลือกสิ่งที่โลกถือว่าอ่อนแอ เพื่อทำให้คนที่แข็งแรงอับอาย

²⁷but God chose the foolish things of the world that he might put to shame those who are wise. God chose the weak things of the world, that he might put to shame the things that are strong;

²⁸พระเจ้าได้ทรงเลือกสิ่งที่โลกถือว่าต่ำต้อย และสิ่งที่ถูกดูหมิ่น ทั้งทรงเลือกสิ่งเหล่านั้นซึ่งยังมิได้เกิดเป็นตัวจริงด้วย เพื่อจะได้ทำลายสิ่งซึ่งเป็นตัวจริงอยู่แล้ว

²⁸and God chose the lowly things of the world, and the things that are despised, and the things that are not, that he might bring to nothing the things that are:

²⁹เพื่อมิให้เนื้อหนังใดๆอวดต่อพระพักตร์พระองค์ได้

²⁹that no flesh should boast before God.

³⁰โดยพระองค์ท่านจึงอยู่ในพระเยซูคริสต์ เพราะพระเจ้าทรงตั้งพระองค์ให้เป็นปัญญา ความชอบธรรม การแยกตั้งไว้ และการไถ่โทษ สำหรับเราทั้งหลาย

³⁰But of him, you are in Christ Jesus, who was made to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption:

³¹เพื่อให้เป็นไปตามที่เขียนว่า `ให้ผู้โอ้อวด อวดองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า'

³¹that, according as it is written, “He who boasts, let him boast in the Lord.” Jeremiah 9:24
