¹ผู้ใดเชื่อว่าพระเยซูทรงเป็นพระคริสต์ ผู้นั้นก็บังเกิดจากพระเจ้า และทุกคนที่รักพระองค์ผู้ทรงให้กำเนิดนั้นก็รักคนที่บังเกิดจากพระองค์ด้วย

¹Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God. Whoever loves the Father also loves the child who is born of him.

²เมื่อเราทั้งหลายรักพระเจ้าแล้ว และได้ประพฤติตามพระบัญญัติของพระองค์ เราจึงรู้ว่าเรารักคนทั้งหลายที่เป็นบุตรของพระเจ้า

²By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep his commandments.

³เพราะนี่แหละเป็นความรักต่อพระเจ้า คือที่เราทั้งหลายประพฤติตามพระบัญญัติของพระองค์ และพระบัญญัติของพระองค์นั้นไม่เป็นที่หนักใจ

³For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. His commandments are not grievous.

⁴ด้วยว่าผู้ใดๆที่บังเกิดจากพระเจ้า ก็มีชัยชนะแก่โลก และนี่แหละเป็นชัยชนะซึ่งได้มีชัยแก่โลก คือความเชื่อของเราทั้งหลาย

⁴For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world: your faith.

⁵ใครเล่าชนะโลก เว้นไว้แต่ผู้ที่เชื่อว่าพระเยซูทรงเป็นพระบุตรของพระเจ้า

⁵Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

⁶นี่แหละคือผู้ที่ได้มาโดยน้ำและพระโลหิต คือพระเยซูคริสต์ ไม่ใช่ด้วยน้ำสิ่งเดียว แต่ด้วยน้ำและพระโลหิต และพระวิญญาณทรงเป็นพยานเพราะพระวิญญาณทรงเป็นความจริง

⁶This is he who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and the blood. It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.

⁷เพราะมีพยานอยู่สามพยานในสวรรค์ คือพระบิดา พระวาทะ และพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์ และพยานทั้งสามนี้เป็นองค์เดียวกัน

⁷For there are three who testify Only a few recent manuscripts add “in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. And there are three that testify on earth” :

⁸มีพยานอยู่สามพยานในแผ่นดินโลก คือพระวิญญาณ น้ำ และพระโลหิต และพยานทั้งสามนี้สอดคล้องกัน

⁸the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and the three agree as one.

⁹ถ้าเรายังรับพยานหลักฐานของมนุษย์ พยานหลักฐานของพระเจ้าก็ยิ่งใหญ่กว่า เพราะว่าพยานหลักฐานของพระเจ้านั้น คือพระองค์ได้ทรงเป็นพยานอ้างถึงพระบุตรของพระองค์

⁹If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for this is God’s testimony which he has testified concerning his Son.

¹⁰ผู้ที่เชื่อในพระบุตรของพระเจ้าก็มีพยานอยู่ในตัว ผู้ที่ไม่เชื่อพระเจ้าก็ได้กระทำให้พระองค์เป็นผู้ตรัสมุสา เพราะเขามิได้เชื่อพยานหลักฐานที่พระเจ้าได้ทรงเป็นพยานอ้างถึงพระบุตรของพระองค์

¹⁰He who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. He who doesn’t believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning his Son.

¹¹และพยานหลักฐานนั้นก็คือว่า พระเจ้าได้ทรงโปรดประทานชีวิตนิรันดร์ให้เราทั้งหลาย และชีวิตนี้มีอยู่ในพระบุตรของพระองค์

¹¹The testimony is this, that God gave to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

¹²ผู้ที่มีพระบุตรก็มีชีวิต ผู้ที่ไม่มีพระบุตรของพระเจ้าก็ไม่มีชีวิต

¹²He who has the Son has the life. He who doesn’t have God’s Son doesn’t have the life.

¹³ข้อความเหล่านี้ข้าพเจ้าได้เขียนถึงท่านทั้งหลายที่เชื่อในพระนามของพระบุตรของพระเจ้า เพื่อท่านทั้งหลายจะได้รู้ว่าท่านมีชีวิตนิรันดร์ และเพื่อท่านจะได้เชื่อในพระนามของพระบุตรของพระเจ้า

¹³These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

¹⁴และนี่คือความมั่นใจที่เรามีต่อพระองค์ คือถ้าเราทูลขอสิ่งใดตามพระประสงค์ของพระองค์ พระองค์ก็ทรงโปรดฟังเรา

¹⁴This is the boldness which we have toward him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us.

¹⁵และถ้าเรารู้ว่า พระองค์ทรงโปรดฟังเรา เมื่อเราทูลขอสิ่งใดๆ เราก็รู้ว่าเราได้รับตามที่เราทูลขอจากพระองค์นั้น

¹⁵And if we know that he listens to us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him.

¹⁶ถ้าผู้ใดเห็นพี่น้องของตนกระทำบาปอย่างหนึ่งอย่างใดที่ไม่นำไปสู่ความตาย ผู้นั้นจงทูลขอ และพระองค์ก็จะทรงประทานชีวิตแก่ผู้นั้นที่ได้กระทำบาปซึ่งไม่ได้นำไปสู่ความตาย บาปที่นำไปสู่ความตายก็มี ข้าพเจ้ามิได้ว่าให้เขาอธิษฐานในเรื่องบาปอย่างนั้น

¹⁶If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin not leading to death, he shall ask, and God will give him life for those who sin not leading to death. There is a sin leading to death. I don’t say that he should make a request concerning this.

¹⁷การอธรรมทุกอย่างเป็นบาป แต่บาปที่ไม่ได้นำไปสู่ความตายก็มีอยู่

¹⁷All unrighteousness is sin, and there is a sin not leading to death.

¹⁸เราทั้งหลายรู้แล้วว่า คนใดที่บังเกิดจากพระเจ้าไม่ได้กระทำบาป แต่ว่าคนที่บังเกิดจากพระเจ้าได้ระวังรักษาตัว และมารชั่วร้ายนั้นไม่ได้แตะต้องคนนั้นเลย

¹⁸We know that whoever is born of God doesn’t sin, but he who was born of God keeps himself, and the evil one doesn’t touch him.

¹⁹เราทั้งหลายรู้ว่าเราเป็นของพระเจ้า และชาวโลกทั้งสิ้นอยู่ใต้อานุภาพของความชั่วร้าย

¹⁹We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.

²⁰และเราทั้งหลายรู้ว่าพระบุตรของพระเจ้าเสด็จมาแล้ว และได้ทรงประทานความเข้าใจให้เรา เพื่อให้เรารู้จักพระองค์ผู้เที้ยงแท้ และเราทั้งหลายอยู่ในพระองค์ผู้เที่ยงแท้นั้น คืออยู่ในพระเยซูคริสต์พระบุตรของพระองค์ นี่แหละเป็นพระเจ้าเที่ยงแท้ และเป็นชีวิตนิรันดร์

²⁰We know that the Son of God has come, and has given us an understanding, that we know him who is true, and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

²¹ลูกเล็กๆทั้งหลายเอ๋ย จงระวังรักษาตัว อย่าเกี่ยวข้องกับรูปเคารพ เอเมน

²¹Little children, keep yourselves from idols.
