¹Now king David was old and stricken in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he couldn’t keep warm.

²เพราะฉะนั้นบรรดาข้าราชการของพระองค์จึงกราบทูลว่า "ขอเสาะหาหญิงสาวพรหมจารีมาถวายกษัตริย์เจ้านายของข้าพระองค์ และขอให้เธออยู่งานเฉพาะพระพักตร์พระองค์ และดูแลพระองค์ ให้เธอนอนในพระทรวงของพระองค์ เพื่อกษัตริย์เจ้านายของข้าพระองค์จะได้ทรงอบอุ่น"

²Therefore his servants said to him, “Let there be sought for my lord the king a young virgin. Let her stand before the king, and cherish him; and let her lie in your bosom, that my lord the king may keep warm.”

³So they sought for a beautiful young lady throughout all the borders of Israel, and found Abishag the Shunammite, and brought her to the king.

⁴หญิงสาวคนนั้นงามยิ่งนัก เธอได้ดูแลกษัตริย์และอยู่ปรนนิบัติพระองค์ แต่กษัตริย์หาทรงร่วมกับเธอไม่

⁴The young lady was very beautiful; and she cherished the king, and ministered to him; but the king didn’t know her intimately.

⁵ฝ่ายอาโดนียาห์ โอรสของพระนางฮักกีทได้ยกตัวเองขึ้นกล่าวว่า "เราเองจะเป็นกษัตริย์" และท่านได้เตรียมรถรบและพลม้า กับพลวิ่งนำหน้าห้าสิบคนไว้เพื่อตนเอง

⁵Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, “I will be king.” Then he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.

⁶His father had not displeased him at any time in saying, “Why have you done so?” and he was also a very handsome man; and he was born after Absalom.

⁷He conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the priest: and they following Adonijah helped him.

⁸But Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty men who belonged to David, were not with Adonijah.

⁹อาโดนียาห์ได้ถวายแกะ วัว และสัตว์อ้วนพีเป็นเครื่องบูชา ณ ศิลาแห่งโศเฮเลทซึ่งอยู่ข้างๆเอนโรเกล และท่านได้เชิญพี่น้องทั้งสิ้นของท่าน คือราชโอรสของกษัตริย์ และประชาชนทั้งสิ้นแห่งยูดาห์ที่เป็นข้าราชการของกษัตริย์

⁹Adonijah killed sheep and cattle and fatlings by the stone of Zoheleth, which is beside En Rogel; and he called all his brothers, the king’s sons, and all the men of Judah, the king’s servants:

¹⁰แต่ท่านมิได้เชิญนาธันผู้พยากรณ์ หรือเบไนยาห์ หรือพวกทแกล้วทหาร หรือซาโลมอนอนุชาของท่าน

¹⁰but Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty men, and Solomon his brother, he didn’t call.

¹¹แล้วนาธันก็ทูลพระนางบัทเชบาพระชนนีของซาโลมอนว่า "พระองค์ไม่ทรงได้ยินหรือว่า อาโดนียาห์ โอรสของพระนางฮักกีทได้ทรงราชย์แล้ว และดาวิดเจ้านายของข้าพระองค์ก็มิได้ทรงทราบเรื่อง

¹¹Then Nathan spoke to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, saying, “Haven’t you heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith reigns, and David our lord doesn’t know it?

¹²เพราะฉะนั้นขอข้าพระองค์ถวายคำปรึกษา เพื่อพระองค์จะได้ทรงช่วยชีวิตของพระองค์ และชีวิตของซาโลมอนโอรสของพระองค์ไว้

¹²Now therefore come, please let me give you counsel, that you may save your own life, and the life of your son Solomon.

¹³ขอเสด็จเข้าเฝ้ากษัตริย์ดาวิด และกราบทูลพระองค์ว่า `กษัตริย์เจ้านายของหม่อมฉัน พระองค์ได้ทรงปฏิญาณกับสาวใช้ของพระองค์ไว้มิใช่หรือว่า "ซาโลมอนบุตรของเจ้าจะครองสมบัติต่อจากเราแน่นอน และจะนั่งบนบัลลังก์ของเรา" มิใช่หรือ ไฉนอาโดนียาห์จึงทรงครองเล่าเพคะ'

¹³Go in to king David, and tell him, ‘Didn’t you, my lord, king, swear to your handmaid, saying, Assuredly Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne? Why then does Adonijah reign?’

¹⁴ดูเถิด ขณะที่พระองค์กราบทูลกษัตริย์อยู่ ข้าพระองค์จะตามเข้าไปเฝ้า และสนับสนุนพระเสาวนีย์ของพระองค์"

¹⁴Behold, while you yet talk there with the king, I also will come in after you, and confirm your words.”

¹⁵แล้วพระนางบัทเชบาก็เข้าไปเฝ้ากษัตริย์ที่ห้องบรรทม กษัตริย์ทรงพระชรามาก และอาบีชากชาวชูเนมก็กำลังอยู่ปรนนิบัติกษัตริย์

¹⁵Bathsheba went in to the king into the room. The king was very old; and Abishag the Shunammite was ministering to the king.

¹⁶เมื่อพระนางบัทเชบากราบถวายบังคมกษัตริย์แล้ว กษัตริย์ก็ตรัสถามว่า "เจ้าประสงค์สิ่งใด"

¹⁶Bathsheba bowed, and showed respect to the king. The king said, “What would you like?”

¹⁷She said to him, “My lord, you swore by Yahweh “Yahweh” is God’s proper Name, sometimes rendered “LORD” (all caps) in other translations. your God The Hebrew word rendered “God” is “Elohim.” to your handmaid, ‘Assuredly Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne.’

¹⁸ดูเถิด บัดนี้อาโดนียาห์ทรงราชย์แล้ว แม้ว่าพระองค์คือกษัตริย์เจ้านายของหม่อมฉันก็หาทรงทราบไม่

¹⁸Now, behold, Adonijah reigns; and you, my lord the king, don’t know it.

¹⁹He has slain cattle and fatlings and sheep in abundance, and has called all the sons of the king, and Abiathar the priest, and Joab the captain of the army; but he hasn’t called Solomon your servant.

²⁰ข้าแต่กษัตริย์เจ้านายของหม่อมฉัน อิสราเอลทั้งสิ้นก็เพ่งดูพระองค์ เพื่อพระองค์จะตรัสแก่เขาว่า จะทรงให้ผู้ใดนั่งบนบัลลังก์ของกษัตริย์เจ้านายของหม่อมฉันแทนพระองค์

²⁰You, my lord the king, the eyes of all Israel are on you, that you should tell them who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.

²¹มิฉะนั้นจะเป็นดังนี้ คือเมื่อกษัตริย์เจ้านายของหม่อมฉันล่วงลับไปอยู่กับบรรพบุรุษของพระองค์แล้ว หม่อมฉันและซาโลมอนบุตรของหม่อมฉันก็จะตกเป็นฝ่ายผิด"

²¹Otherwise it will happen, when my lord the king shall sleep with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon shall be counted offenders.”

²²ดูเถิด ขณะเมื่อพระนางกำลังกราบทูลกษัตริย์อยู่ นาธันผู้พยากรณ์ก็เข้ามา

²²Behold, while she yet talked with the king, Nathan the prophet came in.

²³เขาทั้งหลายจึงกราบทูลกษัตริย์ว่า "ดูเถิด นาธันผู้พยากรณ์" เมื่อนาธันเข้ามาต่อพระพักตร์กษัตริย์ เขาก็ซบหน้าลงถึงพื้นถวายคำนับกษัตริย์

²³They told the king, saying, “Behold, Nathan the prophet!” When he had come in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.

²⁴และนาธันกราบทูลว่า "ข้าแต่กษัตริย์เจ้านายของข้าพระองค์ พระองค์รับสั่งไว้หรือว่า `อาโดนียาห์จะครองต่อจากเรา และจะนั่งบนบัลลังก์ของเรา'

²⁴Nathan said, “My lord, king, have you said, ‘Adonijah shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne?’

²⁵เพราะวันนี้เธอได้ลงไปถวายวัว สัตว์อ้วนพีและแกะเป็นอันมาก และได้เชื้อเชิญบรรดาโอรสของกษัตริย์ ทั้งผู้บัญชาการกองทัพ และอาบียาธาร์ปุโรหิต และดูเถิด เขาทั้งหลายกำลังกินดื่มต่อหน้าเธอและกล่าวว่า `ขอกษัตริย์อาโดนียาห์ทรงพระเจริญ'

²⁵For he is gone down this day, and has slain cattle and fatlings and sheep in abundance, and has called all the king’s sons, and the captains of the army, and Abiathar the priest. Behold, they are eating and drinking before him, and say, ‘Long live king Adonijah!’

²⁶แต่ส่วนข้าพระองค์ผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์ และศาโดกปุโรหิต กับเบไนยาห์บุตรชายเยโฮยาดา และซาโลมอนผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์เธอหาได้เชิญไม่

²⁶But he hasn’t called me, even me your servant, and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and your servant Solomon.

²⁷เหตุการณ์ทั้งนี้บังเกิดขึ้นโดยกษัตริย์เจ้านายของข้าพระองค์หรือ และพระองค์มิได้ตรัสบอกแก่ผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์ว่า จะทรงให้ผู้ใดนั่งบนบัลลังก์ของกษัตริย์เจ้านายของข้าพระองค์ต่อจากพระองค์"

²⁷Is this thing done by my lord the king, and you haven’t shown to your servants who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?”

²⁸แล้วกษัตริย์ดาวิดตรัสตอบว่า "จงเรียกบัทเชบาให้มาหาเรา" พระนางก็เสด็จเข้ามาเฝ้าต่อพระพักตร์กษัตริย์ และประทับยืนอยู่ต่อพระพักตร์กษัตริย์

²⁸Then king David answered, “Call to me Bathsheba.” She came into the king’s presence, and stood before the king.

²⁹แล้วกษัตริย์ทรงปฏิญาณว่า "พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงพระชนม์อยู่แน่ฉันใด คือพระองค์ผู้ทรงไถ่ชีวิตของเราจากบรรดาความทุกข์ยาก

²⁹The king swore, and said, “As Yahweh lives, who has redeemed my soul out of all adversity,

³⁰เราได้ปฏิญาณต่อเจ้าในพระนามพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอลว่า `ซาโลมอนบุตรของเจ้าจะครองสมบัติต่อจากเราแน่นอน และเธอจะนั่งบนบัลลังก์ของเราแทนเรา' เราก็จะกระทำอย่างนั้นวันนี้แหละ"

³⁰most certainly as I swore to you by Yahweh, the God of Israel, saying, ‘Assuredly Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne in my place;’ most certainly so will I do this day.”

³¹แล้วพระนางบัทเชบาก็ซบพระพักตร์ลงถึงดินถวายบังคมกษัตริย์ และกราบทูลว่า "ขอกษัตริย์ดาวิดเจ้านายของหม่อมฉันจงทรงพระเจริญเป็นนิตย์"

³¹Then Bathsheba bowed with her face to the earth, and showed respect to the king, and said, “Let my lord king David live forever!”

³²กษัตริย์ดาวิดรับสั่งว่า "จงเรียกศาโดกปุโรหิต และนาธันผู้พยากรณ์ กับเบไนยาห์บุตรชายเยโฮยาดามาหาเรา" เขาทั้งหลายจึงเข้ามาเฝ้ากษัตริย์

³²King David said, “Call to me Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada.” They came before the king.

³³และกษัตริย์ตรัสสั่งเขาทั้งหลายว่า "จงพาข้าราชการของเจ้านายของเจ้าไปจัดให้ซาโลมอนโอรสของเราขึ้นขี่ล่อของเรา และนำเขาลงไปที่กีโฮน

³³The king said to them, “Take with you the servants of your lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride on my own mule, and bring him down to Gihon.

³⁴Let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king over Israel. Blow the trumpet, and say, ‘Long live king Solomon!’

³⁵แล้วท่านทั้งหลายจงติดตามเขาขึ้นมา และเขาจะมานั่งบนบัลลังก์ของเรา เพราะว่าเขาจะได้เป็นกษัตริย์แทนเรา เราได้กำหนดตั้งเขาไว้ให้เป็นผู้ครอบครองเหนืออิสราเอลและเหนือยูดาห์"

³⁵Then you shall come up after him, and he shall come and sit on my throne; for he shall be king in my place. I have appointed him to be prince over Israel and over Judah.”

³⁶และเบไนยาห์บุตรชายเยโฮยาดาได้กราบทูลตอบกษัตริย์ว่า "เอเมน ขอพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าแห่งกษัตริย์เจ้านายของข้าพระองค์ตรัสดังนั้นเทอญ

³⁶Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king, and said, “Amen. May Yahweh, the God of my lord the king, say so.

³⁷พระเยโฮวาห์ได้ทรงสถิตกับกษัตริย์เจ้านายของข้าพระองค์มาแล้วฉันใด ก็ขอทรงสถิตกับซาโลมอนฉันนั้น และขอทรงกระทำให้พระที่นั่งของพระองค์ใหญ่ยิ่งกว่าพระที่นั่งของกษัตริย์ดาวิดเจ้านายของข้าพระองค์"

³⁷As Yahweh has been with my lord the king, even so may he be with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord king David.”

³⁸ดังนั้นศาโดกปุโรหิต นาธันผู้พยากรณ์ และเบไนยาห์บุตรชายเยโฮยาดา และคนเคเรธีกับคนเปเลทได้ลงไปจัดให้ซาโลมอนประทับบนล่อพระที่นั่งของกษัตริย์ดาวิดและได้นำท่านมาถึงกีโฮน

³⁸So Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites, went down, and caused Solomon to ride on king David’s mule, and brought him to Gihon.

³⁹แล้วศาโดกปุโรหิตได้นำเขาสัตว์ที่บรรจุน้ำมันมาจากพลับพลา และเจิมตั้งซาโลมอนไว้ และเขาทั้งหลายก็เป่าแตร และประชาชนทั้งปวงกล่าวว่า "ขอกษัตริย์ซาโลมอนทรงพระเจริญ"

³⁹Zadok the priest took the horn of oil out of the Tent, and anointed Solomon. They blew the trumpet; and all the people said, “Long live king Solomon!”

⁴⁰และประชาชนทั้งปวงก็ตามเสด็จไปเป่าปี่และเปรมปรีดิ์ด้วยความชื่นบานยิ่งนัก แผ่นดินก็แยกด้วยเสียงของเขาทั้งหลาย

⁴⁰All the people came up after him, and the people piped with pipes, and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth shook with their sound.

⁴¹อาโดนียาห์และบรรดาแขกที่อยู่กับท่านเมื่อรับประทานเสร็จแล้วก็ได้ยินเสียงนั้น และเมื่อโยอาบได้ยินเสียงแตรก็พูดว่า "เสียงอึกทึกครึกโครมนี้ที่ในกรุงหมายความว่ากระไร"

⁴¹Adonijah and all the guests who were with him heard it as they had made an end of eating. When Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said, “Why is this noise of the city being in an uproar?”

⁴²While he yet spoke, behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came: and Adonijah said, “Come in; for you are a worthy man, and bring good news.”

⁴³Jonathan answered Adonijah, “Most certainly our lord king David has made Solomon king.

⁴⁴และกษัตริย์ได้รับสั่งให้ศาโดกปุโรหิต นาธันผู้พยากรณ์ และเบไนยาห์บุตรชายเยโฮยาดา กับคนเคเรธีและคนเปเลทตามซาโลมอนไป และเขาทั้งหลายก็ได้จัดให้ซาโลมอนประทับบนล่อพระที่นั่งของกษัตริย์

⁴⁴The king has sent with him Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and they have caused him to ride on the king’s mule.

⁴⁵และศาโดกปุโรหิต กับนาธันผู้พยากรณ์ได้เจิมตั้งท่านไว้ให้เป็นกษัตริย์ ณ กีโฮน และเขาทั้งหลายก็ขึ้นมาจากที่นั่นด้วยความเปรมปรีดิ์ เพราะฉะนั้นในกรุงจึงอึกทึกครึกโครม นี่เป็นเสียงที่ท่านทั้งหลายได้ยิน

⁴⁵Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king in Gihon. They have come up from there rejoicing, so that the city rang again. This is the noise that you have heard.

⁴⁶ซาโลมอนได้ทรงประทับบนพระราชบัลลังก์ด้วย

⁴⁶Also, Solomon sits on the throne of the kingdom.

⁴⁷ยิ่งกว่านั้นอีกบรรดาข้าราชการของกษัตริย์ก็เข้าไปถวายพระพรแด่กษัตริย์ดาวิดเจ้านายของเราว่า `ขอพระเจ้าทรงกระทำให้พระนามของซาโลมอนบันลือไปยิ่งกว่าพระนามของพระองค์ และขอทรงกระทำให้บัลลังก์ของซาโลมอนใหญ่ยิ่งกว่าบัลลังก์ของพระองค์' แล้วกษัตริย์ก็ทรงโน้มพระกายลงบนแท่นที่บรรทม

⁴⁷Moreover the king’s servants came to bless our lord king David, saying, ‘May your God make the name of Solomon better than your name, and make his throne greater than your throne;’ and the king bowed himself on the bed.

⁴⁸และกษัตริย์ก็ตรัสด้วยว่า `สาธุการแด่พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของอิสราเอล ผู้ได้ทรงประทานให้มีคนหนึ่งนั่งบนบัลลังก์ของเราในวันนี้ ด้วยตาของเราเองได้เห็นแล้ว'"

⁴⁸Also thus said the king, ‘Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, who has given one to sit on my throne this day, my eyes even seeing it.’”

⁴⁹แล้วบรรดาแขกทั้งปวงของอาโดนียาห์ก็กลัว และลุกขึ้น ต่างคนต่างไปตามทางของตน

⁴⁹All the guests of Adonijah were afraid, and rose up, and each man went his way.

⁵⁰ฝ่ายอาโดนียาห์ก็กลัวซาโลมอน จึงลุกขึ้นไปจับเชิงงอนของแท่นบูชา

⁵⁰Adonijah feared because of Solomon; and he arose, and went, and caught hold on the horns of the altar.

⁵¹มีคนไปกราบทูลซาโลมอนว่า "ดูเถิด อาโดนียาห์กลัวกษัตริย์ซาโลมอน เพราะดูเถิด เธอจับเชิงงอนที่แท่นบูชาอยู่กล่าวว่า `ขอกษัตริย์ซาโลมอนได้ปฏิญาณแก่ข้าพเจ้าในวันนี้ว่า พระองค์จะไม่ประหารผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์เสียด้วยดาบ'"

⁵¹It was told Solomon, saying, “Behold, Adonijah fears king Solomon; for, behold, he has laid hold on the horns of the altar, saying, ‘Let king Solomon swear to me first that he will not kill his servant with the sword.’”

⁵²และซาโลมอนตรัสว่า "ถ้าแม้เขาสำแดงตัวได้ว่าเป็นคนที่สมควร ผมสักเส้นเดียวของเขาจะไม่ตกลงยังพื้นดิน แต่ถ้าพบความชั่วอยู่ในตัวเขา เขาจะต้องถึงแก่ความตาย"

⁵²Solomon said, “If he shows himself a worthy man, not a hair of him shall fall to the earth; but if wickedness be found in him, he shall die.”

⁵³กษัตริย์ซาโลมอนตรัสสั่งให้คนไปนำท่านลงมาจากแท่นบูชา และท่านก็มากราบลงต่อกษัตริย์ซาโลมอน และซาโลมอนตรัสแก่ท่านว่า "จงกลับไปวังของท่านเถิด"

⁵³So king Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the altar. He came and bowed down to king Solomon; and Solomon said to him, “Go to your house.”
