¹Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the chosen ones who are living as foreigners in the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,

²ซึ่งทรงเลือกไว้แล้วตามที่พระเจ้าพระบิดาได้ทรงล่วงรู้ไว้ก่อน โดยพระวิญญาณได้ทรงชำระ ให้บังเกิดความนบนอบเชื่อฟัง และให้รับการประพรมด้วยพระโลหิตของพระเยซูคริสต์ ขอให้พระคุณและสันติสุขบังเกิดทวีคูณแก่ท่านทั้งหลายเถิด

²according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, that you may obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with his blood: Grace to you and peace be multiplied.

³จงถวายสรรเสริญแด่พระเจ้าพระบิดาแห่งพระเยซูคริสต์องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าของเรา ผู้ได้ทรงพระมหากรุณาแก่เรา ทรงโปรดให้เราบังเกิดใหม่ เข้าสู่ความหวังใจอันมีชีวิตอยู่ โดยการคืนพระชนม์จากความตายของพระเยซูคริสต์

³Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy became our father again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

⁴และเพื่อให้ได้รับมรดกซึ่งไม่รู้เปื่อยเน่า ปราศจากมลทินและไม่ร่วงโรย ซึ่งได้รักษาไว้ในสวรรค์เพื่อท่านทั้งหลาย

⁴to an incorruptible and undefiled inheritance that doesn’t fade away, reserved in Heaven for you,

⁵ซึ่งเป็นผู้ที่ฤทธิ์เดชของพระเจ้าได้ทรงคุ้มครองไว้ด้วยความเชื่อให้ถึงความรอด ซึ่งพร้อมแล้วที่จะปรากฏในวาระสุดท้าย

⁵who by the power of God are guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

⁶ในความรอดนั้นท่านทั้งหลายชื่นชมยินดีเป็นอย่างยิ่ง ถึงแม้ว่าเดี๋ยวนี้จำเป็นที่ท่านจะต้องเป็นทุกข์ใจชั่วขณะหนึ่ง ด้วยการถูกทดลองต่างๆ

⁶Wherein you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been put to grief in various trials,

⁷เพื่อการลองดูความเชื่อของท่าน อันประเสริฐยิ่งกว่าทองคำซึ่งพินาศไปได้ ถึงแม้ว่าความเชื่อนั้นถูกลองด้วยไฟ จะได้เป็นเหตุให้เกิดความสรรเสริญ เกิดเกียรติและสง่าราศี ในเวลาที่พระเยซูคริสต์จะเสด็จมาปรากฏ

⁷that the proof of your faith, which is more precious than gold that perishes even though it is tested by fire, may be found to result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ—

⁸พระองค์ผู้ที่ท่านทั้งหลายยังไม่ได้เห็น แต่ท่านยังรักพระองค์อยู่ แม้ว่าขณะนี้ท่านไม่เห็นพระองค์ แต่ท่านยังเชื่อและชื่นชม ด้วยความปีติยินดีเป็นล้นพ้นเหลือที่จะกล่าวได้ และเต็มเปี่ยมด้วยสง่าราศี

⁸whom not having known you love; in whom, though now you don’t see him, yet believing, you rejoice greatly with joy unspeakable and full of glory—

⁹แล้วจิตวิญญาณของท่านทั้งหลายจึงได้รับความรอดเป็นผลสุดท้ายแห่งความเชื่อ

⁹receiving the result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

¹⁰พวกศาสดาพยากรณ์ก็ได้อุตส่าห์สืบค้นหาในความรอดนั้น และได้พยากรณ์ถึงพระคุณซึ่งจะบังเกิดแก่ท่านทั้งหลาย

¹⁰Concerning this salvation, the prophets sought and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that would come to you,

¹¹เขาได้สืบค้นหาสิ่งใดและเวลาซึ่งพระวิญญาณของพระคริสต์ ผู้ทรงสถิตอยู่ในตัวเขาได้ ทรงบ่งไว้ เมื่อพระวิญญาณนั้นได้พยากรณ์ล่วงหน้าถึงความทุกข์ทรมานของพระคริสต์ และถึงสง่าราศีที่จะมาภายหลัง

¹¹searching for who or what kind of time the Spirit of Christ, which was in them, pointed to, when he predicted the sufferings of Christ, and the glories that would follow them.

¹²ก็ทรงโปรดเผยให้พวกศาสดาพยากรณ์เหล่านั้นทราบว่า ที่เขาเหล่านั้นได้ปรนนิบัติในเหตุการณ์ทั้งปวงนั้น ไม่ใช่สำหรับเขาเอง แต่สำหรับเราทั้งหลาย บัดนี้คนเหล่านั้นที่ประกาศข่าวประเสริฐแก่ท่านทั้งหลาย ก็ได้กล่าวสิ่งเหล่านั้นแก่ท่านแล้วโดยพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์ ที่ทรงโปรดประทานจากสวรรค์ เป็นสิ่งซึ่งพวกทูตสวรรค์ปรารถนาจะได้ดู

¹²To them it was revealed, that not to themselves, but to you, they ministered these things, which now have been announced to you through those who preached the Good News to you by the Holy Spirit sent out from heaven; which things angels desire to look into.

¹³เหตุฉะนั้น ท่านทั้งหลายจงเตรียมตัวเตรียมใจของท่านไว้ให้ดี และจงข่มใจ ตั้งความหวังให้เต็มเปี่ยมในพระคุณซึ่งจะทรงโปรดประทานแก่ท่านเมื่อพระเยซูคริสต์จะทรงสำแดงพระองค์

¹³Therefore prepare your minds for action, literally, “gird up the waist of your mind” or “put on the belt of the waist of your mind” be sober and set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ—

¹⁴ดุจดังเป็นบุตรที่เชื่อฟัง ขออย่าได้ประพฤติตามราคะตัณหาอย่างที่เกิดจากความโง่เขลาของท่านในกาลก่อน

¹⁴as children of obedience, not conforming yourselves according to your former lusts as in your ignorance,

¹⁵แต่พระองค์ผู้ได้ทรงเรียกท่านทั้งหลายนั้นบริสุทธิ์ฉันใด ท่านทั้งหลายจงเป็นคนบริสุทธิ์ในบรรดาการประพฤติทุกอย่างด้วยฉันนั้น

¹⁵but just as he who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all of your behavior;

¹⁶ดังที่มีคำเขียนไว้แล้วว่า `ท่านทั้งหลายจงเป็นคนบริสุทธิ์ เพราะเราเป็นผู้บริสุทธิ์'

¹⁶because it is written, “You shall be holy; for I am holy.” Leviticus 11:44-45

¹⁷และถ้าท่านอธิษฐานขอต่อพระบิดา ผู้ทรงพิพากษาทุกคนตามการประพฤติของเขาโดยไม่เห็นแก่หน้าคนใดเลย จงประพฤติตนด้วยความยำเกรงตลอดเวลาที่ท่านอยู่ในโลกนี้

¹⁷If you call on him as Father, who without respect of persons judges according to each man’s work, pass the time of your living as foreigners here in reverent fear:

¹⁸ท่านรู้ว่า พระองค์ได้ทรงไถ่ท่านทั้งหลายออกจากการประพฤติอันหาสาระมิได้ ซึ่งท่านได้รับเป็นประเพณีต่อจากบรรพบุรุษของท่าน มิได้ไถ่ไว้ด้วยสิ่งที่เสื่อมสลายได้ เช่นเงินและทอง

¹⁸knowing that you were redeemed, not with corruptible things, with silver or gold, from the useless way of life handed down from your fathers,

¹⁹แต่ทรงไถ่ด้วยพระโลหิตอันมีราคามากของพระคริสต์ ดังเลือดลูกแกะที่ปราศจากตำหนิหรือจุดด่างพร้อย

¹⁹but with precious blood, as of a faultless and pure lamb, the blood of Christ;

²⁰แท้จริงพระเจ้าได้ทรงดำริพระคริสต์นั้นไว้ก่อนทรงสร้างโลก แต่ทรงให้พระคริสต์ปรากฏพระองค์ในวาระสุดท้ายนี้ เพื่อท่านทั้งหลาย

²⁰who was foreknown indeed before the foundation of the world, but was revealed at the end of times for your sake,

²¹เพราะพระคริสต์ท่านจึงเชื่อในพระเจ้า ผู้ทรงบันดาลพระคริสต์ให้ฟื้นจากความตาย และทรงประทานสง่าราศีแก่พระองค์ เพื่อให้ความเชื่อและความหวังใจของท่านดำรงอยู่ในพระเจ้า

²¹who through him are believers in God, who raised him from the dead, and gave him glory; so that your faith and hope might be in God.

²²ที่ท่านทั้งหลายได้ชำระจิตใจของท่านให้บริสุทธิ์แล้ว ด้วยการเชื่อฟังความจริงโดยพระวิญญาณ จนมีใจรักพวกพี่น้องอย่างจริงใจ ท่านทั้งหลายจงรักกันให้มากด้วยน้ำใสใจจริง

²²Seeing you have purified your souls in your obedience to the truth through the Spirit in sincere brotherly affection, love one another from the heart fervently:

²³ด้วยว่าท่านทั้งหลายได้บังเกิดใหม่ ไม่ใช่จากพืชที่จะเปื่อยเน่าเสีย แต่จากพืชอันไม่รู้เปื่อยเน่า คือด้วยพระวจนะของพระเจ้าอันทรงชีวิตและดำรงอยู่เป็นนิตย์

²³having been born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, through the word of God, which lives and remains forever.

²⁴เพราะว่า `บรรดาเนื้อหนังก็เป็นเสมือนต้นหญ้า และบรรดาสง่าราศีของมนุษย์ก็เป็นเสมือนดอกหญ้า ต้นหญ้าเหี่ยวแห้งไป และดอกก็ร่วงโรยไป

²⁴For, “All flesh is like grass, and all of man’s glory like the flower in the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls;

²⁵แต่พระวจนะขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้ายั่งยืนอยู่เป็นนิตย์' พระวจนะนั้นคือข่าวประเสริฐที่ได้ประกาศให้ท่านทั้งหลายทราบแล้ว

²⁵but the Lord’s word endures forever.” Isaiah 40:6-8 This is the word of Good News which was preached to you.
