¹ฉะนั้น โดยเหตุที่พระคริสต์ได้ทรงทนทุกข์ทรมานในเนื้อหนังเพื่อเราทั้งหลายแล้ว ท่านทั้งหลายก็จงมีความคิดอย่างเดียวกันไว้เป็นเครื่องอาวุธด้วย เพราะว่าผู้ที่ได้ทนทุกข์ทรมานในเนื้อหนังก็ไม่สัมพันธ์กับบาปแล้ว

¹Forasmuch then as Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind; for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin;

²เพื่อเขาจะได้ไม่ดำเนินชีวิตที่ยังเหลืออยู่ในเนื้อหนังตามใจปรารถนาของมนุษย์ แต่ตามพระประสงค์ของพระเจ้า

²that you no longer should live the rest of your time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.

³ด้วยว่าเวลาที่ผ่านไปในชีวิตของเราแล้วนั้น น่าจะเพียงพอสำหรับการกระทำสิ่งที่คนต่างชาติชอบกระทำ คราวเมื่อเราได้ดำเนินตามกิเลสตัณหา ตามใจปรารถนาอันชั่ว เมาเหล้าองุ่น เฮฮาเอะอะเอ็ดตะโรกัน เลี้ยงกันอย่างหรูหราฟุ่มเฟือย

³For we have spent enough of our past time doing the desire of the Gentiles, and having walked in lewdness, lusts, drunken binges, orgies, carousings, and abominable idolatries.

⁴เขาประหลาดใจที่บัดนี้ท่านทั้งหลายไม่ได้ประพฤติเหลวไหลมากเหมือนอย่างเขา เขาก็กล่าวร้ายท่าน

⁴They think it is strange that you don’t run with them into the same excess of riot, blaspheming:

⁵คนเหล่านั้นจะต้องให้การแก่พระองค์ผู้พร้อมแล้วที่จะทรงพิพากษาทั้งคนเป็นและคนตาย

⁵who will give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.

⁶ด้วยเหตุนี้เอง ข่าวประเสริฐจึงได้ประกาศแม้แก่คนที่ตายไปแล้ว เพื่อเขาจะได้ถูกพิพากษาตามอย่างมนุษย์ในเนื้อหนัง แต่มีชีวิตอยู่ตามอย่างพระเจ้าฝ่ายจิตวิญญาณ

⁶For to this end the Good News was preached even to the dead, that they might be judged indeed as men in the flesh, but live as to God in the spirit.

⁷แต่สิ่งทั้งปวงใกล้จะถึงวาระที่สุดแล้ว เหตุฉะนั้นท่านทั้งหลายจงสำแดงกิริยาเสงี่ยมเจียมตัว และจงเฝ้าระวังในการอธิษฐาน

⁷But the end of all things is near. Therefore be of sound mind, self-controlled, and sober in prayer.

⁸ยิ่งกว่าอะไรทั้งหมดก็จงรักซึ่งกันและกันให้มาก ด้วยว่าความรักก็ปกปิดความผิดไว้มากหลาย

⁸And above all things be earnest in your love among yourselves, for love covers a multitude of sins.

⁹ท่านทั้งหลายจงต้อนรับเลี้ยงดูซึ่งกันและกันโดยไม่บ่น

⁹Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.

¹⁰ตามซึ่งทุกคนได้รับของประทานแล้ว ก็ให้เจือจานของประทานนั้นแก่กันและกัน เหมือนอย่างเจ้าหน้าที่อันดีสำหรับพระคุณต่างๆของพระเจ้า

¹⁰As each has received a gift, employ it in serving one another, as good managers of the grace of God in its various forms.

¹¹ถ้าผู้หนึ่งผู้ใดจะกล่าวสั่งสอน ก็ให้กล่าวตามพระโอวาทของพระเจ้า ถ้าคนใดรับการปรนนิบัติ ก็ให้ปรนนิบัติตามกำลังซึ่งพระเจ้าทรงโปรดประทานนั้น เพื่อว่าพระเจ้าจะทรงได้รับเกียรติในการทั้งปวงโดยพระเยซูคริสต์ การสรรเสริญและไอศวรรยานุภาพจงมีแด่พระองค์ตลอดไปเป็นนิตย์ เอเมน

¹¹If anyone speaks, let it be as it were the very words of God. If anyone serves, let it be as of the strength which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

¹²ท่านที่รัก อย่าประหลาดใจที่ท่านต้องได้รับความทุกข์ยากอย่างแสนสาหัสเป็นการลองใจ เหมือนหนึ่งว่าเหตุการณ์อันประหลาดได้เกิดขึ้นกับท่าน

¹²Beloved, don’t be astonished at the fiery trial which has come upon you, to test you, as though a strange thing happened to you.

¹³แต่ว่าท่านทั้งหลายจงชื่นชมยินดีในการที่ท่านได้มีส่วนร่วมในความทุกข์ยากของพระคริสต์ เพื่อว่าเมื่อสง่าราศีของพระองค์ปรากฏขึ้น ท่านทั้งหลายก็จะได้ชื่นชมยินดีเป็นอันมากด้วย

¹³But because you are partakers of Christ’s sufferings, rejoice; that at the revelation of his glory you also may rejoice with exceeding joy.

¹⁴ถ้าท่านถูกด่าว่าเพราะพระนามของพระคริสต์ ท่านก็เป็นสุข ด้วยว่าพระวิญญาณแห่งสง่าราศีและของพระเจ้าทรงสถิตอยู่กับท่าน ฝ่ายเขาก็กล่าวร้ายพระองค์ แต่ฝ่ายท่านก็ถวายเกียรติยศแด่พระองค์

¹⁴If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed; because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. On their part he is blasphemed, but on your part he is glorified.

¹⁵แต่ว่าอย่าให้มีผู้ใดในพวกท่านได้รับโทษฐานเป็นผู้ฆ่าคน หรือเป็นขโมย หรือเป็นคนทำร้าย หรือเป็นคนที่เที่ยวยุ่งกับธุระของคนอื่น

¹⁵For let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evil doer, or a meddler in other men’s matters.

¹⁶แต่ถ้าผู้ใดถูกการร้ายเพราะเป็นคริสเตียน ก็อย่าให้ผู้นั้นมีความละอายเลย แต่ให้เขาถวายพระเกียรติแด่พระเจ้าเพราะเหตุนั้น

¹⁶But if one of you suffers for being a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God in this matter.

¹⁷ด้วยว่าถึงเวลาแล้วที่การพิพากษาจะต้องเริ่มตั้งต้นที่ครอบครัวของพระเจ้า และถ้าการพิพากษานั้นเริ่มต้นที่พวกเราก่อน ปลายทางของคนเหล่านั้นที่ไม่เชื่อฟังข่าวประเสริฐของพระเจ้าจะเป็นอย่างไร

¹⁷For the time has come for judgment to begin with the household of God. If it begins first with us, what will happen to those who don’t obey the Good News of God?

¹⁸และถ้าคนชอบธรรมจะรอดพ้นไปได้อย่างยากเย็นแล้ว คนอธรรมและคนบาปจะไปอยู่ที่ไหน

¹⁸“If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will happen to the ungodly and the sinner?” Proverbs 11:31

¹⁹เหตุฉะนั้น ให้คนทั้งหลายที่ทนความทุกข์ยากตามพระประสงค์ของพระเจ้า ฝากจิตวิญญาณของตนไว้กับพระองค์ด้วยการประพฤติดี เหมือนหนึ่งฝากไว้กับพระองค์ผู้ทรงสร้างอันสัตย์ซื่อ

¹⁹Therefore let them also who suffer according to the will of God in doing good entrust their souls to him, as to a faithful Creator.
