1อยู่มาในวันที่สามเมื่อดาวิดกับคนของท่านมาถึงเมืองศิกลากปรากฏว่าคนอามาเลขได้มาปล้นทางภาคใต้กับปล้นศิกลากแล้ว เขาชนะศิกลากและเผาเสียด้วยไฟ
1It happened, when David and his men had come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had made a raid on the South, and on Ziklag, and had struck Ziklag, and burned it with fire,
2และจับผู้หญิงกับทุกคนที่อยู่ในนั้นไปเป็นเชลยทั้งผู้ใหญ่และเด็ก ไม่ได้ฆ่าผู้ใดเลย แต่กวาดต้อนไปตามทางของเขา
2and had taken captive the women and all who were therein, both small and great. They didn’t kill any, but carried them off, and went their way.
3เมื่อดาวิดกับคนของท่านมาที่ตัวเมือง ดูเถิด เมืองนั้นถูกเผาด้วยไฟ และภรรยากับบุตรชายบุตรสาวของเขาก็ถูกกวาดไปเป็นเชลย
3When David and his men came to the city, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captive.
4แล้วดาวิดกับประชาชนที่อยู่กับท่านก็ร้องไห้เสียงดังจนเขาไม่มีกำลังจะร้องไห้อีก
4Then David and the people who were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep.
5อาหิโนอัมชาวยิสเรเอล และอาบีกายิลแม่ม่ายของนาบาลชาวคารเมล ภรรยาทั้งสองของดาวิดก็ถูกกวาดไปเป็นเชลยด้วย
5David’s two wives were taken captive, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite.
6และดาวิดก็เป็นทุกข์หนักเพราะประชาชนพูดกันว่าจะขว้างท่านเสียด้วยก้อนหินด้วยจิตใจของประชาชนต่างก็ขมขื่นมาก เพราะบุตรชายและบุตรสาวของเขา แต่ดาวิดก็มีกำลังขึ้นในพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่าน
6David was greatly distressed; for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David strengthened himself in Yahweh his God.
7ดาวิดจึงพูดกับอาบียาธาร์ปุโรหิตบุตรชายของอาหิเมเลคว่า "ขอนำเอโฟดมาให้ข้าพเจ้า" อาบียาธาร์ก็นำเอโฟดมาให้ดาวิด
7David said to Abiathar the priest, the son of Ahimelech, “Please bring me here the ephod.” Abiathar brought the ephod to David.
8และดาวิดทูลถามพระเยโฮวาห์ว่า "สมควรที่ข้าพระองค์จะติดตามกองปล้นนี้หรือ ข้าพระองค์จะขับทันเขาหรือ" พระองค์ตอบท่านว่า "จงติดตามเถิด เจ้าจะไปทันเขาแน่ และจะเอาสิ่งสารพัดกลับคืนแน่"
8David inquired of Yahweh, saying, “If I pursue after this troop, shall I overtake them?” He answered him, “Pursue; for you shall surely overtake them, and shall without fail recover all.”
9ดาวิดก็ยกออกติดตามพร้อมกับคนที่อยู่กับท่านหกร้อยนั้น และเขามาถึงลำธารเบโสร์ คนที่ล้าหลังก็พักอยู่ที่นั่น
9So David went, he and the six hundred men who were with him, and came to the brook Besor, where those who were left behind stayed.
10แต่ดาวิดติดตามต่อไป ทั้งตัวท่านและคนสี่ร้อย สองร้อยที่อ่อนเพลียเกินที่จะข้ามลำธารเบโสร์ก็หยุดพักอยู่
10But David pursued, he and four hundred men; for two hundred stayed behind, who were so faint that they couldn’t go over the brook Besor.
11เขาทั้งหลายพบชาวอียิปต์คนหนึ่งอยู่ที่กลางแจ้ง จึงนำเขามาหาดาวิด ให้ขนมปังและเขาก็รับประทานและให้น้ำเขาดื่ม
11They found an Egyptian in the field, and brought him to David, and gave him bread, and he ate; and they gave him water to drink.
12และให้ขนมมะเดื่อแผ่นหนึ่งกับช่อองุ่นแห้งสองช่อ เมื่อเขารับประทานแล้ว จิตใจของเขาก็ฟื้นขึ้น เพราะเขาไม่ได้รับประทานขนมปังหรือดื่มน้ำมาสามวันสามคืนแล้ว
12They gave him a piece of a cake of figs, and two clusters of raisins. when he had eaten, his spirit came again to him; for he had eaten no bread, nor drunk any water, three days and three nights.
13และดาวิดถามเขาว่า "เจ้าเป็นคนพวกไหน และเจ้ามาจากไหน" เขาตอบว่า "ข้าพเจ้าเป็นคนหนุ่มชาวอียิปต์ เป็นคนใช้ของคนอามาเลขคนหนึ่ง เมื่อสามวันมาแล้วข้าพเจ้าป่วย นายข้าพเจ้าจึงทิ้งข้าพเจ้าไว้
13David asked him, “To whom do you belong? Where are you from?” He said, “I am a young man of Egypt, servant to an Amalekite; and my master left me, because three days ago I fell sick.
14เรามาปล้นที่ถิ่นใต้ของคนเคเรธี และปล้นที่ส่วนของยูดาห์ และที่ถิ่นใต้ของคาเลบ และเราเผาเมืองศิกลากเสียด้วยไฟ"
14We made a raid on the South of the Cherethites, and on that which belongs to Judah, and on the South of Caleb; and we burned Ziklag with fire.”
15ดาวิดถามเขาว่า "เจ้าจะพาเราลงไปถึงกองปล้นนี้หรือไม่" เขาตอบว่า "ขอปฏิญาณแก่ข้าพเจ้าในพระนามของพระเจ้าว่า จะไม่ฆ่าข้าพเจ้า และท่านจะไม่มอบข้าพเจ้าไว้ในมือนายของข้าพเจ้า ข้าพเจ้าจึงจะพาท่านไปที่กองปล้นนั้น"
15David said to him, “Will you bring me down to this troop?” He said, “Swear to me by God that you will neither kill me, nor deliver me up into the hands of my master, and I will bring you down to this troop.”
16เมื่อเขาพาท่านลงไปแล้ว ดูเถิด ก็พบเขาทั้งหลายแผ่กันอยู่เต็มดินไปหมด ต่างกินและดื่มและเต้นรำเพราะเขาริบได้ข้าวของมากมายมาจากแผ่นดินฟีลิสเตียและจากแผ่นดินยูดาห์
16When he had brought him down, behold, they were spread around over all the ground, eating, drinking, and dancing, because of all the great spoil that they had taken out of the land of the Philistines, and out of the land of Judah.
17และดาวิดก็ฆ่าฟันเขาตั้งแต่โพล้เพล้จนถึงเวลาเย็นของวันรุ่งขึ้น ไม่มีชายคนใดหนีรอดไปได้สักคนเดียว เว้นแต่ชายสี่ร้อยคนซึ่งขี่อูฐหนีไป
17David struck them from the twilight even to the evening of the next day. Not a man of them escaped from there, except four hundred young men, who rode on camels and fled.
18ดาวิดได้สิ่งของต่างๆที่คนอามาเลขริบคืนมาทั้งหมด และดาวิดช่วยภรรยาทั้งสองของท่านรอดได้
18David recovered all that the Amalekites had taken; and David rescued his two wives.
19ไม่มีอะไรขาดจากท่านไปเลย ไม่ว่าเล็กหรือใหญ่ บุตรชายหรือบุตรสาว ในสิ่งที่ริบไปหรือสิ่งที่เขาเหล่านั้นเอาไป ดาวิดได้คืนมาหมด
19There was nothing lacking to them, neither small nor great, neither sons nor daughters, neither spoil, nor anything that they had taken to them. David brought back all.
20ดาวิดยังจับได้บรรดาฝูงแพะแกะฝูงวัว และเขาไล่ต้อนฝูงสัตว์ไปข้างหน้าท่านกล่าวว่า "นี่เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของดาวิดริบมา"
20David took all the flocks and the herds, which they drove before those other livestock, and said, “This is David’s spoil.”
21แล้วดาวิดกลับมายังคนสองร้อยผู้ที่อ่อนเพลียเกินที่จะตามดาวิดไป ซึ่งให้พักอยู่ที่ลำธารเบโสร์ และเขาก็ออกไปต้อนรับดาวิดและต้อนรับประชาชนที่อยู่กับท่าน เมื่อดาวิดเข้ามาใกล้ประชาชน ท่านก็คำนับเขาทั้งหลาย
21David came to the two hundred men, who were so faint that they could not follow David, whom also they had made to stay at the brook Besor; and they went forth to meet David, and to meet the people who were with him. When David came near to the people, he greeted them.
22คนชั่วและคนอันธพาลทั้งสิ้นในพวกพลที่ติดตามดาวิดไปจึงกล่าวว่า "เพราะเขาไม่ไปกับเรา เราจะไม่ให้สิ่งที่เราริบมาได้แก่เขาเลย นอกจากให้ต่างคนมาพาภรรยาและบุตรของเขาไปก็แล้วกัน"
22Then all the wicked men and base fellows, of those who went with David, answered and said, “Because they didn’t go with us, we will not give them anything of the spoil that we have recovered, except to every man his wife and his children, that he may lead them away, and depart.”
23แต่ดาวิดกล่าวว่า "พี่น้องทั้งหลายของข้าพเจ้าเอ๋ย ท่านอย่าทำอย่างนั้นกับสิ่งซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงมอบแก่เรา ผู้ได้ทรงพิทักษ์รักษาเราไว้ และทรงมอบกองปล้นซึ่งมาต่อสู้กับเราไว้ในมือของเรา
23Then David said, “You shall not do so, my brothers, with that which Yahweh has given to us, who has preserved us, and delivered the troop that came against us into our hand.
24ในเรื่องนี้ใครจะฟังเสียงของท่าน เพราะคนที่ลงไปรบได้ส่วนแบ่งของเขาอย่างไร คนที่เฝ้ากองสัมภาระอยู่ก็ควรได้ส่วนแบ่งอย่างนั้น ให้เขาทั้งหลายรับส่วนแบ่งเหมือนกัน"
24Who will listen to you in this matter? For as his share is who goes down to the battle, so shall his share be who tarries by the baggage: they shall share alike.”
25ตั้งแต่นั้นเป็นต้นไป ดาวิดก็ตั้งข้อนี้ให้เป็นกฎเกณฑ์และกฎแก่อิสราเอลจนทุกวันนี้
25It was so from that day forward, that he made it a statute and an ordinance for Israel to this day.
26เมื่อดาวิดมาถึงเมืองศิกลากแล้ว ก็ส่งของที่ริบได้นั้นส่วนหนึ่งไปให้เพื่อน ซึ่งเป็นพวกผู้ใหญ่ในยูดาห์กล่าวว่า "ดูเถิด นี่เป็นของขวัญฝากมาให้ท่านซึ่งเป็นส่วนของของริบจากศัตรูของพระเยโฮวาห์"
26When David came to Ziklag, he sent of the spoil to the elders of Judah, even to his friends, saying, “Behold, a present for you of the spoil of the enemies of Yahweh.”
27คือแก่คนที่อยู่ในเบธเอล ในราโมททางภาคใต้ ในยัททีร
27He sent it to those who were in Bethel, and to those who were in Ramoth of the South, and to those who were in Jattir,
28ในอาโรเออร์ ในสิฟโมท ในเอชเทโมอา
28and to those who were in Aroer, and to those who were in Siphmoth, and to those who were in Eshtemoa,
29ในราคาล ในหัวเมืองของคนเยราเมเอล ในหัวเมืองของคนเคไนต์
29and to those who were in Racal, and to those who were in the cities of the Jerahmeelites, and to those who were in the cities of the Kenites,
30ในโฮรมาห์ ในโคราชาน ในอาธาค
30and to those who were in Hormah, and to those who were in Borashan, and to those who were in Athach,
31ในเฮโบรน คือให้แก่ทุกตำบลที่ดาวิดกับคนของท่านได้เคยไปๆมาๆ
31and to those who were in Hebron, and to all the places where David himself and his men used to stay.
