¹พี่น้องทั้งหลาย ในที่สุดนี้ เราขอวิงวอนและเตือนสติท่านในพระเยซูเจ้าว่า ท่านได้เรียนจากเราแล้วว่าควรจะประพฤติอย่างไร จึงจะเป็นที่ชอบพระทัยพระเจ้า ขอให้ท่านประพฤติอย่างนั้นยิ่งๆขึ้นไป

¹Finally then, brothers, we beg and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, that you abound more and more.

²เพราะท่านทั้งหลายทราบคำบัญชาซึ่งเราได้ให้ไว้กับท่านโดยพระเยซูเจ้าแล้ว

²For you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus.

³เพราะนี่แหละเป็นพระประสงค์ของพระเจ้า คือให้ท่านเป็นคนบริสุทธิ์ เว้นเสียจากการล่วงประเวณี

³For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality,

⁴เพื่อให้ทุกคนในพวกท่านรู้จักที่จะรักษาภาชนะของตนในทางบริสุทธิ์ และในทางที่มีเกียรติ

⁴that each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor,

⁵มิใช่ด้วยราคะตัณหาเหมือนอย่างคนต่างชาติที่ไม่รู้จักพระเจ้า

⁵not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who don’t know God;

⁶เพื่อไม่ให้ผู้ใดทำล่วงเกินและลักลอบต่อพี่น้องในเรื่องใดๆเลย เพราะว่าองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงเป็นผู้ทรงสนองโทษต่อบรรดาคนที่กระทำอย่างนั้น เหมือนอย่างที่เราได้บอกไว้ก่อนแล้วและได้เป็นพยานแล้วด้วย

⁶that no one should take advantage of and wrong a brother or sister in this matter; because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as also we forewarned you and testified.

⁷เพราะพระเจ้ามิได้ทรงเรียกเราให้เป็นคนลามก แต่ทรงเรียกเราให้เป็นคนบริสุทธิ์

⁷For God called us not for uncleanness, but in sanctification.

⁸เหตุฉะนั้นคนที่ปัดทิ้ง มิได้ปัดทิ้งมนุษย์ แต่ได้ปัดทิ้งพระเจ้า ผู้ทรงโปรดประทานพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์ของพระองค์ให้แก่เราทั้งหลายด้วย

⁸Therefore he who rejects this doesn’t reject man, but God, who has also given his Holy Spirit to you.

⁹ส่วนเรื่องการรักพี่น้องทั้งหลายนั้น ไม่จำเป็นที่จะให้ข้าพเจ้าเขียนถึงท่าน เพราะว่าตัวท่านเองก็รับคำสอนจากพระเจ้าแล้วว่าให้รักซึ่งกันและกัน

⁹But concerning brotherly love, you have no need that one write to you. For you yourselves are taught by God to love one another,

¹⁰ความจริงท่านได้ประพฤติต่อบรรดาพี่น้องทั่วแคว้นมาซิโดเนียเช่นนั้นอยู่ แต่พี่น้องทั้งหลาย เราขอวิงวอนท่านให้มีความรักทวีขึ้นอีก

¹⁰for indeed you do it toward all the brothers who are in all Macedonia. But we exhort you, brothers, that you abound more and more;

¹¹และจงตั้งเป้าว่าจะอยู่อย่างสงบ และทำกิจธุระส่วนของตน และทำการงานด้วยมือของตนเอง เหมือนอย่างที่เรากำชับท่านแล้ว

¹¹and that you make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, even as we instructed you;

¹²เพื่อท่านจะได้ประพฤติตามอย่างที่สมควรต่อหน้าคนเหล่านั้นที่อยู่ภายนอก และเพื่อท่านจะไม่ขาดสิ่งใดเลย

¹²that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and may have need of nothing.

¹³แต่พี่น้องทั้งหลาย ข้าพเจ้าไม่อยากให้ท่านไม่ทราบถึงเรื่องคนเหล่านั้นที่ล่วงหลับไปแล้ว เพื่อท่านจะไม่เป็นทุกข์โศกเศร้าอย่างคนอื่นๆที่ไม่มีความหวัง

¹³But we don’t want you to be ignorant, brothers, concerning those who have fallen asleep, so that you don’t grieve like the rest, who have no hope.

¹⁴เพราะถ้าเราเชื่อว่าพระเยซูทรงสิ้นพระชนม์ และทรงคืนพระชนม์แล้ว เช่นเดียวกันบรรดาคนที่ล่วงหลับไปในพระเยซูนั้น พระเจ้าจะทรงนำคนเหล่านั้นมากับพระองค์ด้วย

¹⁴For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.

¹⁵ในข้อนี้เราขอบอกให้ท่านทราบตามพระวจนะขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าว่า เราผู้ยังเป็นอยู่และเหลืออยู่จนถึงองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าเสด็จมา จะล่วงหน้าไปก่อนคนเหล่านั้นที่ล่วงหลับไปแล้วก็หามิได้

¹⁵For this we tell you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left to the coming of the Lord, will in no way precede those who have fallen asleep.

¹⁶ด้วยว่าองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าเองจะเสด็จมาจากสวรรค์ ด้วยเสียงกู่ก้อง ด้วยสำเนียงของเทพบดี และด้วยเสียงแตรของพระเจ้า และคนทั้งปวงที่ตายแล้วในพระคริสต์จะเป็นขึ้นมาก่อน

¹⁶For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with God’s trumpet. The dead in Christ will rise first,

¹⁷หลังจากนั้นเราทั้งหลายซึ่งยังเป็นอยู่และเหลืออยู่ จะถูกรับขึ้นไปในเมฆพร้อมกับคนเหล่านั้น เพื่อจะได้พบองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าในฟ้าอากาศ อย่างนั้นแหละเราก็จะอยู่กับองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าเป็นนิตย์

¹⁷then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air. So we will be with the Lord forever.

¹⁸เหตุฉะนั้นจงปลอบใจกันและกันด้วยถ้อยคำเหล่านี้เถิด

¹⁸Therefore comfort one another with these words.
