¹ประชาชนทั้งสิ้นแห่งยูดาห์จึงตั้งอุสซียาห์ ผู้ซึ่งมีพระชนมายุสิบหกพรรษา ให้เป็นกษัตริย์แทนอามาซิยาห์ราชบิดาของพระองค์

¹All the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the place of his father Amaziah.

²พระองค์ทรงสร้างเมืองเอโลทและให้กลับขึ้นแก่ยูดาห์ หลังจากที่กษัตริย์ทรงล่วงหลับไปอยู่กับบรรพบุรุษของพระองค์

²He built Eloth, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.

³เมื่ออุสซียาห์ทรงเริ่มครอบครองนั้นมีพระชนมายุสิบหกพรรษา และพระองค์ทรงครอบครองในกรุงเยรูซาเล็มห้าสิบสองปี พระมารดาของพระองค์ทรงพระนามว่า เยโคลียาห์ ชาวเยรูซาเล็ม

³Sixteen years old was Uzziah when he began to reign; and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Jechiliah, of Jerusalem.

⁴และพระองค์ทรงกระทำสิ่งที่ถูกต้องในสายพระเนตรของพระเยโฮวาห์ ตามที่อามาซิยาห์ราชบิดาของพระองค์ได้ทรงกระทำทุกประการ

⁴He did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, according to all that his father Amaziah had done.

⁵และพระองค์ทรงแสวงหาพระเจ้าในสมัยของเศคาริยาห์ ผู้เข้าใจในนิมิตต่างๆจากพระเจ้า และตราบใดที่พระองค์แสวงหาพระเยโฮวาห์ พระเจ้าทรงกระทำให้พระองค์เจริญ

⁵He set himself to seek God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the vision of God: and as long as he sought Yahweh, God made him to prosper.

⁶พระองค์เสด็จออกไปทำสงครามต่อสู้กับคนฟีลิสเตีย และพังกำแพงเมืองกัท และกำแพงเมืองยับเนห์ และกำแพงเมืองอัชโดด และพระองค์ทรงสร้างหัวเมืองในเขตแดนอัชโดด และที่อื่นๆอีกท่ามกลางคนฟีลิสเตีย

⁶He went forth and warred against the Philistines, and broke down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod; and he built cities in the country of Ashdod, and among the Philistines.

⁷พระเจ้าทรงช่วยพระองค์ในการต่อสู้คนฟีลิสเตีย และต่อสู้คนอาระเบียซึ่งอาศัยอยู่ในกูร์บาอัล และต่อสู้กับคนเมอูนิม

⁷God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians who lived in Gur Baal, and the Meunim.

⁸ชนอัมโมนได้ถวายบรรณาการแก่อุสซียาห์ และพระนามของพระองค์ก็แผ่แพร่ออกไปถึงเขตแดนอียิปต์ เพราะพระองค์ทรงเข้มแข็งขึ้นยิ่งนัก

⁸The Ammonites gave tribute to Uzziah: and his name spread abroad even to the entrance of Egypt; for he grew exceeding strong.

⁹ยิ่งกว่านั้นอีกอุสซียาห์ทรงสร้างป้อมในเยรูซาเล็มที่ประตูมุม ที่ประตูหุบเขาและที่หัวเลี้ยว และป้องกันไว้แข็งแรง

⁹Moreover Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the corner gate, and at the valley gate, and at the turning of the wall, and fortified them.

¹⁰และพระองค์ทรงสร้างป้อมในถิ่นทุรกันดาร ทรงขุดบ่อน้ำหลายแห่ง เพราะพระองค์ทรงมีฝูงสัตว์ใหญ่โต ทั้งในหุบเขาและในที่ราบ และทรงมีชาวนาและคนแต่งต้นองุ่นในเนินเขา และในคารเมล เพราะพระองค์ทรงรักเกษตรกรรม

¹⁰He built towers in the wilderness, and dug out many cisterns, for he had much livestock; in the lowland also, and in the plain: and he had farmers and vineyard keepers in the mountains and in the fruitful fields; for he loved farming.

¹¹ยิ่งกว่านั้นอีกอุสซียาห์ทรงมีกองทหาร ซึ่งออกไปทำศึกเป็นกองๆตามจำนวนที่เยอีเอลราชเลขาได้รวบรวมไว้ด้วยกันกับมาอาเสอาห์เจ้าหน้า ที่ภายใต้การควบคุมของฮานันยาห์ ผู้บังคับกองพลคนหนึ่งของกษัตริย์

¹¹Moreover Uzziah had an army of fighting men, who went out to war by bands, according to the number of their reckoning made by Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the officer, under the hand of Hananiah, one of the king’s captains.

¹²จำนวนประมุขของบรรพบุรุษทั้งหมดแห่งพวกทแกล้วทหารคือ สองพันหกร้อยคน

¹²The whole number of the heads of fathers’ households, even the mighty men of valor, was two thousand and six hundred.

¹³ใต้บังคับบัญชาของคนเหล่านี้ มีกองทัพพลสามแสนเจ็ดพันห้าร้อยคน ผู้ทำสงครามได้ด้วยกำลังมาก เพื่อช่วยกษัตริย์ให้ต่อสู้กับศัตรู

¹³Under their hand was an army, three hundred thousand and seven thousand and five hundred, who made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.

¹⁴และอุสซียาห์ทรงเตรียมโล่ หอก หมวกเหล็ก เสื้อเกราะ ธนู และก้อนหินสำหรับสลิงไว้สำหรับกองทัพ

¹⁴Uzziah prepared for them, even for all the army, shields, and spears, and helmets, and coats of mail, and bows, and stones for slinging.

¹⁵ในเยรูซาเล็มพระองค์ทรงกระทำเครื่องกลไกโดยคนช่างประดิษฐ์ทำขึ้น ไว้บนป้อมและตามมุม เพื่อยิงลูกธนูและโยนก้อนหินใหญ่ๆ และพระนามของพระองค์ก็ลือไปไกล เพราะพระองค์ทรงรับความช่วยเหลืออย่างมหัศจรรย์จนพระองค์เข้มแข็ง

¹⁵He made in Jerusalem engines, invented by skillful men, to be on the towers and on the battlements, with which to shoot arrows and great stones. His name spread far abroad; for he was marvelously helped, until he was strong.

¹⁶แต่เมื่อพระองค์ทรงแข็งแรงแล้ว พระองค์ก็มีพระทัยผยองขึ้นจึงทรงกระทำความเสียหาย เพราะพระองค์ละเมิดต่อพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของพระองค์ และเข้าไปในพระวิหารของพระเยโฮวาห์เพื่อเผาเครื่องหอมบนแท่นเครื่องหอม

¹⁶But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up, so that he did corruptly, and he trespassed against Yahweh his God; for he went into Yahweh’s temple to burn incense on the altar of incense.

¹⁷แต่อาซาริยาห์ปุโรหิตได้เข้าไปติดตามพระองค์พร้อมกับปุโรหิตของพระเยโฮวาห์แปดสิบคนผู้ซึ่งเก่งกล้า

¹⁷Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him eighty priests of Yahweh, who were valiant men:

¹⁸และเขาทั้งหลายได้ขัดขวางกษัตริย์อุสซียาห์และทูลพระองค์ว่า "ข้าแต่อุสซียาห์ มิใช่หน้าที่ขอพระองค์ที่จะเผาเครื่องหอมถวายแด่พระเยโฮวาห์ แต่เป็นหน้าที่ของปุโรหิตลูกหลานของอาโรน ผู้ซึ่งชำระไว้ให้บริสุทธิ์เพื่อเผาเครื่องหอม ขอเชิญพระองค์เสด็จออกไปจากสถานบริสุทธิ์นี้ เพราะพระองค์ได้ทรงล่วงเกิน และพระองค์จะไม่ได้รับเกียรติอันใดจากพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าเลย"

¹⁸and they resisted Uzziah the king, and said to him, “It isn’t for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to Yahweh, but for the priests the sons of Aaron, who are consecrated to burn incense. Go out of the sanctuary; for you have trespassed; neither shall it be for your honor from Yahweh God.”

¹⁹แล้วอุสซียาห์ทรงกริ้ว พระองค์มีกระถางไฟอยู่ในพระหัตถ์จะทรงเผาเครื่องหอม และเมื่อพระองค์ทรงกริ้วต่อพวกปุโรหิต โรคเรื้อนก็เกิดขึ้นมาที่พระนลาฏต่อหน้าปุโรหิตในพระนิเวศของพระเยโฮวาห์ข้างแท่นเผาเครื่องหอม

¹⁹Then Uzziah was angry; and he had a censer in his hand to burn incense; and while he was angry with the priests, the leprosy broke forth in his forehead before the priests in the house of Yahweh, beside the altar of incense.

²⁰และอาซาริยาห์ปุโรหิตใหญ่ และบรรดาปุโรหิตทั้งปวงมองดูพระองค์ และดูเถิด พระองค์ทรงเป็นโรคเรื้อนที่พระนลาฏ และเขาทั้งหลายก็ผลักพระองค์ออกไปจากที่นั่น และพระองค์เองก็ทรงรีบเสด็จออกไป เพราะว่าพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงลงโทษพระองค์แล้ว

²⁰Azariah the chief priest, and all the priests, looked on him, and behold, he was leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out quickly from there; yes, himself hurried also to go out, because Yahweh had struck him.

²¹และกษัตริย์อุสซียาห์ก็ทรงเป็นโรคเรื้อนจนวันสิ้นพระชนม์ และเพราะเป็นโรคเรื้อนก็ทรงประทับในวังต่างหาก เพราะพระองค์ทรงถูกตัดขาดจากพระนิเวศของพระเยโฮวาห์ และโยธามโอรสของพระองค์เป็นผู้ดูแลราชสำนักปกครองประชาชนแห่งแผ่นดินนั้น

²¹Uzziah the king was a leper to the day of his death, and lived in a separate house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the house of Yahweh: and Jotham his son was over the king’s house, judging the people of the land.

²²ส่วนพระราชกิจนอกนั้นของอุสซียาห์ ตั้งแต่ต้นจนปลาย อิสยาห์ผู้พยากรณ์ บุตรชายอามอส ได้บันทึกไว้

²²Now the rest of the acts of Uzziah, first and last, Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, wrote.

²³และอุสซียาห์ก็ทรงล่วงหลับไปอยู่กับบรรพบุรุษของพระองค์ และเขาก็ฝังพระศพไว้กับบรรพบุรุษของพระองค์ในนาที่ฝังศพอันเป็นของกษัตริย์ เพราะเขาทั้งหลายว่า "พระองค์ทรงเป็นโรคเรื้อน" และโยธามโอรสของพระองค์ก็ครอบครองแทนพระองค์

²³So Uzziah slept with his fathers; and they buried him with his fathers in the field of burial which belonged to the kings; for they said, “He is a leper.” Jotham his son reigned in his place.
