¹ข้าพเจ้าไม่จำเป็นต้องเขียนถึงท่านในเรื่องการสงเคราะห์วิสุทธิชน

¹It is indeed unnecessary for me to write to you concerning the service to the saints,

²เพราะข้าพเจ้ารู้ว่าใจของท่านพร้อมอยู่แล้ว ข้าพเจ้าจึงพูดอวดเรื่องพวกท่านกับพวกมาซิโดเนียว่า พวกอาคายาได้จัดเตรียมไว้พร้อมแล้วตั้งแต่ปีกลาย และความกระตือรือร้นของพวกท่านก็เร้าใจคนเป็นอันมาก

²for I know your readiness, of which I boast on your behalf to them of Macedonia, that Achaia has been prepared for a year past. Your zeal has stirred up very many of them.

³แต่ข้าพเจ้าได้ให้พี่น้องเหล่านั้นไป เพื่อมิให้การอวดของเราเรื่องท่านในข้อนั้นเป็นการเปล่าประโยชน์ และเพื่อให้ท่านจัดเตรียมไว้ให้พร้อมตามที่ข้าพเจ้าได้กล่าวแล้วนั้น

³But I have sent the brothers that our boasting on your behalf may not be in vain in this respect, that, just as I said, you may be prepared,

⁴มิฉะนั้นแล้ว ถ้าชาวมาซิโดเนียบางคนมากับข้าพเจ้า และเห็นว่าท่านมิได้เตรียมพร้อมตามที่เราได้อวดไว้นั้น (อย่าว่าแต่ท่านจะขายหน้าเลย) เราเองก็จะขายหน้าด้วย

⁴so that I won’t by any means, if there come with me any of Macedonia and find you unprepared, we (to say nothing of you) should be disappointed in this confident boasting.

⁵เหตุฉะนั้นข้าพเจ้าจึงเห็นว่า สมควรจะวิงวอนให้พี่น้องเหล่านั้นไปหาท่านก่อนข้าพเจ้า และให้จัดเตรียมของถวายของท่านไว้ ตามที่ท่านได้สัญญาไว้แล้ว เพื่อของถวายนั้นจะมีอยู่พร้อม และจะเป็นของถวายที่ให้ด้วยใจศรัทธา มิใช่ให้ด้วยการฝืนใจ

⁵I thought it necessary therefore to entreat the brothers that they would go before to you, and arrange ahead of time the generous gift that you promised before, that the same might be ready as a matter of generosity, and not of greediness.

⁶นี่แหละ คนที่หว่านเพียงเล็กน้อยก็จะเกี่ยวเก็บได้เพียงเล็กน้อย คนที่หว่านมากก็จะเกี่ยวเก็บได้มาก

⁶Remember this: he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly. He who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.

⁷ทุกคนจงให้ตามที่เขาได้คิดหมายไว้ในใจ มิใช่ให้ด้วยนึกเสียดาย มิใช่ให้ด้วยการฝืนใจ เพราะว่าพระเจ้าทรงรักคนนั้นที่ให้ด้วยใจยินดี

⁷Let each man give according as he has determined in his heart; not grudgingly, or under compulsion; for God loves a cheerful giver.

⁸และพระเจ้าทรงฤทธิ์สามารถประทานพระคุณอันอุดมทุกอย่างแก่ท่านทั้งหลาย เพื่อให้ท่านมีทุกสิ่งทุกอย่างเพียงพอสำหรับตัวเสมอ ทั้งจะมีสิ่งของบริบูรณ์สำหรับงานที่ดีทุกอย่างด้วย

⁸And God is able to make all grace abound to you, that you, always having all sufficiency in everything, may abound to every good work.

⁹(ตามที่เขียนไว้ว่า `เขาแจกจ่าย เขาได้ให้แก่คนยากจน ความชอบธรรมของเขาดำรงเป็นนิตย์'

⁹As it is written, “He has scattered abroad, he has given to the poor. His righteousness remains forever.” Psalm 112:9

¹⁰ฝ่ายพระองค์ผู้ประทานพืชแก่คนที่หว่าน และประทานอาหารแก่คนที่กิน จะทรงโปรดให้พืชของท่านที่หว่านนั้นทวีขึ้นเป็นอันมาก และจะทรงให้ผลแห่งความชอบธรรมของท่านเจริญยิ่งขึ้น)

¹⁰Now may he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food, supply and multiply your seed for sowing, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;

¹¹โดยทรงให้ท่านทั้งหลายมีสิ่งสารพัดมั่งคั่งบริบูรณ์ขึ้น เพื่อให้ท่านมีแจกจ่ายอย่างใจกว้างขวาง ซึ่งจะให้เกิดการขอบพระคุณพระเจ้า

¹¹you being enriched in everything to all liberality, which works through us thanksgiving to God.

¹²เพราะว่าการรับใช้ในการปรนนิบัตินั้นมิใช่จะช่วยวิสุทธิชนซึ่งขัดสนเท่านั้น แต่ยังเป็นเหตุให้มีการขอบพระคุณพระเจ้าเป็นอันมากด้วย

¹²For this service of giving that you perform not only makes up for lack among the saints, but abounds also through many givings of thanks to God;

¹³และเนื่องจากผลแห่งการรับใช้นั้น เขาจึงถวายเกียรติยศแด่พระเจ้า โดยเหตุที่ท่านทั้งหลายยอมฟังและตั้งใจอยู่ในอำนาจข่าวประเสริฐของพระคริสต์ และเพราะเหตุท่านได้แจกจ่ายแก่เขาและแก่คนทั้งปวงด้วยใจกว้างขวาง

¹³seeing that through the proof given by this service, they glorify God for the obedience of your confession to the Good News of Christ, and for the liberality of your contribution to them and to all;

¹⁴เขาก็จะวิงวอนขอพระพรให้แก่ท่านทั้งหลายและปรารถนาท่านเป็นอันมาก เพราะเหตุพระคุณของพระเจ้าซึ่งสถิตอยู่ในท่านอย่างเหลือล้น

¹⁴while they themselves also, with supplication on your behalf, yearn for you by reason of the exceeding grace of God in you.

¹⁵จงขอบพระคุณพระเจ้าเพราะของประทานซึ่งพระองค์ทรงประทานนั้นที่เหลือจะพรรณนาได้

¹⁵Now thanks be to God for his unspeakable gift!
