¹ฝ่ายอาหับมีโอรสเจ็ดสิบองค์ในสะมาเรีย เยฮูจึงทรงพระอักษรส่งไปยังสะมาเรียถึงบรรดาผู้ปกครองเมืองยิสเรเอลนั้น ถึงพวกผู้ใหญ่ และถึงบรรดาพี่เลี้ยงแห่งโอรสของอาหับว่า

¹Now Ahab had seventy sons in Samaria. Jehu wrote letters, and sent to Samaria, to the rulers of Jezreel, even the elders, and to those who brought up the sons of Ahab, saying,

²"เพราะบรรดาโอรสของนายของท่านอยู่กับท่าน และท่านมีรถรบและม้า และเมืองที่มีป้อมด้วยและอาวุธ พอจดหมายนี้มาถึงท่าน

²“Now as soon as this letter comes to you, since your master’s sons are with you, and there are with you chariots and horses, a fortified city also, and armor.

³จงคัดเลือกโอรสนายของท่านองค์ที่ดีที่สุด และเหมาะสมที่สุด จงตั้งท่านไว้บนพระที่นั่งของพระชนกของท่าน และจงสู้รบเพื่อราชวงศ์นายของท่าน"

³Select the best and fittest of your master’s sons, set him on his father’s throne, and fight for your master’s house.”

⁴แต่เขาทั้งหลายกลัวอย่างที่สุด และพูดว่า "ดูเถิด กษัตริย์สององค์ยังต้านทานพระองค์ไม่ได้แล้ว เราจะต่อสู้พระองค์ได้อย่างไร"

⁴But they were exceedingly afraid, and said, “Behold, the two kings didn’t stand before him! How then shall we stand?”

⁵ฉะนั้นผู้ที่ปกครองดูแลพระราชวัง และผู้ที่ปกครองดูแลบ้านเมือง พร้อมทั้งพวกผู้ใหญ่และพวกพี่เลี้ยงของราชโอรส ก็ใช้คนให้ไปทูลเยฮูว่า "ข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายเป็นผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์ และข้าพระองค์จะกระทำทุกอย่างที่พระองค์ตรัสสั่งแก่ข้าพระองค์ ข้าพระองค์จะไม่ตั้งกษัตริย์ผู้หนึ่งผู้ใด ขอทรงกระทำตามที่ชอบพระทัยในสายพระเนตรของพระองค์เถิด"

⁵He who was over the household, and he who was over the city, the elders also, and those who raised the children, sent to Jehu, saying, “We are your servants, and will do all that you ask us. We will not make any man king. You do that which is good in your eyes.”

⁶แล้วพระองค์ทรงมีลายพระหัตถ์ไปถึงเขาฉบับที่สองว่า "ถ้าท่านทั้งหลายอยู่ฝ่ายเรา และถ้าท่านพร้อมที่จะเชื่อฟังเสียงของเรา จงนำศีรษะของบรรดาโอรสนายของท่านมาหาเราที่ยิสเรเอลพรุ่งนี้เวลานี้" ฝ่ายโอรสของกษัตริย์เจ็ดสิบองค์ด้วยกัน อยู่กับคนใหญ่คนโตในเมือง ผู้ซึ่งได้ชุบเลี้ยงท่านทั้งหลายมา

⁶Then he wrote a letter the second time to them, saying, “If you are on my side, and if you will listen to my voice, take the heads of the men your master’s sons, and come to me to Jezreel by tomorrow this time.” Now the king’s sons, being seventy persons, were with the great men of the city, who brought them up.

⁷และอยู่มาเมื่อลายพระหัตถ์มาถึงเขาทั้งหลาย เขาก็จับโอรสของกษัตริย์ฆ่าเสียเจ็ดสิบองค์ด้วยกัน เอาศีรษะใส่ตะกร้าส่งไปยังพระองค์ที่ยิสเรเอล

⁷It happened, when the letter came to them, that they took the king’s sons, and killed them, even seventy persons, and put their heads in baskets, and sent them to him to Jezreel.

⁸เมื่อผู้สื่อสารมาทูลพระองค์ว่า "เขานำศีรษะโอรสของกษัตริย์มาแล้วพระเจ้าข้า" พระองค์ตรัสว่า "จงกองไว้เป็นสองกองตรงทางเข้าประตูเมืองจนถึงรุ่งเช้า"

⁸A messenger came, and told him, “They have brought the heads of the king’s sons.” He said, “Lay them in two heaps at the entrance of the gate until the morning.”

⁹อยู่มาพอรุ่งเช้าพระองค์เสด็จออกไปประทับยืน ตรัสกับประชาชนทั้งปวงว่า "ท่านทั้งหลายเป็นผู้ไร้ความผิด ดูเถิด ส่วนเราได้กบฏต่อนายของเราและประหารพระองค์เสีย แต่ผู้ใดเล่าที่ฆ่าบรรดาคนเหล่านี้

⁹It happened in the morning, that he went out, and stood, and said to all the people, “You are righteous. Behold, I conspired against my master, and killed him; but who struck all these?

¹⁰จงทราบเถิดว่าพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์ ซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสเกี่ยวกับราชวงศ์ของอาหับ จะไม่ตกดินแต่อย่างไรเลย เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงกระทำตามที่พระองค์ตรัสโดยเอลียาห์ผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์"

¹⁰Know now that nothing shall fall to the earth of the word of Yahweh, which Yahweh spoke concerning the house of Ahab. For Yahweh has done that which he spoke by his servant Elijah.”

¹¹เยฮูทรงประหารราชวงศ์ของอาหับที่เหลืออยู่ในยิสเรเอลทั้งสิ้น คนใหญ่คนโตทุกคนของพระองค์ และญาติพี่น้องของพระองค์ และปุโรหิตของพระองค์ ดังนี้แหละไม่เหลือไว้สักคนเดียวเลย

¹¹So Jehu struck all that remained of the house of Ahab in Jezreel, with all his great men, his familiar friends, and his priests, until he left him none remaining.

¹²แล้วพระองค์ก็ทรงลุกขึ้นเสด็จออกไปยังสะมาเรีย เมื่อพระองค์ประทับที่โรงตัดขนแกะตามทางที่เสด็จ

¹²He arose and departed, and went to Samaria. As he was at the shearing house of the shepherds on the way,

¹³เยฮูทรงพบพระญาติของอาหัสยาห์กษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ และพระองค์ตรัสถามว่า "ท่านทั้งหลายคือใคร" และเขาทั้งหลายทูลตอบว่า "ข้าพเจ้าทั้งหลายคือญาติของอาหัสยาห์ และข้าพเจ้าทั้งหลายลงมาเยี่ยมบรรดาโอรสของกษัตริย์และโอรสของราชมารดา"

¹³Jehu met with the brothers of Ahaziah king of Judah, and said, “Who are you?” They answered, “We are the brothers of Ahaziah. We are going down to greet the children of the king and the children of the queen.”

¹⁴พระองค์รับสั่งว่า "จับเขาทั้งเป็น" เขาทั้งหลายก็จับเขาทั้งเป็นและประหารเขาเสียที่บ่อโรงตัดขนแกะสี่สิบสองคนด้วยกัน ไม่เหลือไว้สักคนเดียว

¹⁴He said, “Take them alive!” They took them alive, and killed them at the pit of the shearing house, even forty-two men. He didn’t leave any of them.

¹⁵และเมื่อพระองค์เสด็จจากที่นั่นก็ทรงพบเยโฮนาดับบุตรชายเรคาบมาหาพระองค์ พระองค์ทรงต้อนรับเขาและตรัสกับเขาว่า "จิตใจของท่านซื่อตรงต่อจิตใจของฉัน อย่างจิตใจของฉันตรงต่อจิตใจของท่านหรือ" และเยโฮนาดับทูลว่า "ตรง พระเจ้าข้า" เยฮูตรัสว่า "ถ้าตรงก็ยื่นมือมาให้เรา" เขาจึงยื่นมือของเขา และเยฮูก็จับเขาขึ้นมาบนรถรบ

¹⁵When he had departed from there, he met Jehonadab the son of Rechab coming to meet him. He greeted him, and said to him, “Is your heart right, as my heart is with your heart?” Jehonadab answered, “It is.” “If it is, give me your hand.” He gave him his hand; and he took him up to him into the chariot.

¹⁶พระองค์ตรัสว่า "มากับเราเถิด และดูความร้อนรนของเราเพื่อพระเยโฮวาห์" พระองค์จึงให้เขานั่งรถรบของพระองค์ไป

¹⁶He said, “Come with me, and see my zeal for Yahweh.” So they made him ride in his chariot.

¹⁷และเมื่อพระองค์มาถึงสะมาเรีย พระองค์ทรงประหารคนทั้งปวงที่เป็นราชวงศ์ของอาหับที่เหลืออยู่ในสะมาเรียเสีย จนพระองค์ทรงทำลายอาหับเสียสิ้น ตามพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์ซึ่งพระองค์ตรัสกับเอลียาห์

¹⁷When he came to Samaria, he struck all who remained to Ahab in Samaria, until he had destroyed him, according to the word of Yahweh, which he spoke to Elijah.

¹⁸แล้วเยฮูทรงประชุมบรรดาประชาชนทั้งสิ้น และตรัสกับเขาทั้งหลายว่า "อาหับปรนนิบัติพระบาอัลแต่เล็กน้อย แต่เยฮูจะปรนนิบัติพระองค์มาก

¹⁸Jehu gathered all the people together, and said to them, “Ahab served Baal a little; but Jehu will serve him much.

¹⁹ฉะนั้นบัดนี้จงเรียกผู้พยากรณ์ของพระบาอัลมาให้หมด ทั้งบรรดาผู้รับใช้และปุโรหิตของท่าน อย่าให้ผู้ใดขาดไปเลย เพราะเราจะมีสัตวบูชาอย่างใหญ่โตที่จะถวายแก่พระบาอัล ผู้ใดขาดจะมีชีวิตอยู่ไม่ได้" แต่เยฮูทรงกระทำเป็นอุบายเพื่อจะทำลายผู้นับถือพระบาอัล

¹⁹Now therefore call to me all the prophets of Baal, all of his worshippers, and all of his priests. Let none be absent; for I have a great sacrifice to Baal. Whoever is absent, he shall not live.” But Jehu did it in subtlety, intending that he might destroy the worshippers of Baal.

²⁰และเยฮูตรัสสั่งว่า "จงจัดประชุมอันศักดิ์สิทธิ์สำหรับพระบาอัล" เขาก็ป่าวร้องเรียกประชุมเช่นนั้น

²⁰Jehu said, “Sanctify a solemn assembly for Baal!” They proclaimed it.

²¹และเยฮูทรงใช้ให้ไปทั่วอิสราเอล และผู้นับถือพระบาอัลก็มาทั้งหมดจึงไม่มีเหลือสักคนหนึ่งที่ไม่ได้มา และเขาทั้งหลายก็เข้าไปในนิเวศของพระบาอัล และนิเวศของพระบาอัลก็เต็มแน่น

²¹Jehu sent through all Israel; and all the worshippers of Baal came, so that there was not a man left that didn’t come. They came into the house of Baal; and the house of Baal was filled from one end to another.

²²พระองค์ตรัสสั่งผู้ที่ดูแลตู้เสื้อว่า "จงเอาเสื้อสำหรับบรรดาผู้นับถือพระบาอัลออกมา" เขาก็เอาเสื้อออกมาให้เขาทั้งหลาย

²²He said to him who was over the vestry, “Bring out robes for all the worshippers of Baal!” He brought robes out to them.

²³แล้วเยฮูเสด็จเข้าไปในนิเวศของพระบาอัล พร้อมกับเยโฮนาดับบุตรชายเรคาบ พระองค์ตรัสกับผู้นับถือพระบาอัลว่า "จงค้นดู ดูให้ดีว่าไม่มีผู้รับใช้ของพระเยโฮวาห์อยู่ในหมู่พวกท่าน ให้มีแต่ผู้นับถือพระบาอัลเท่านั้น"

²³Jehu went with Jehonadab the son of Rechab into the house of Baal. Then he said to the worshippers of Baal, “Search, and look that there are here with you none of the servants of Yahweh, but the worshippers of Baal only.”

²⁴แล้วเขาทั้งหลายเข้าไปถวายเครื่องสัตวบูชาและเครื่องเผาบูชา เยฮูทรงวางคนแปดสิบคนไว้ภายนอก และตรัสว่า "ชายคนใดที่ปล่อยให้คนหนึ่งคนใดซึ่งเรามอบไว้ในมือเจ้าหนีรอดไปได้ เขาต้องเสียชีวิตของเขาแทน"

²⁴They went in to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings. Now Jehu had appointed him eighty men outside, and said, “If any of the men whom I bring into your hands escape, he who lets him go, his life shall be for the life of him.”

²⁵และอยู่มาเมื่อพระองค์เสร็จการถวายเครื่องเผาบูชา เยฮูรับสั่งแก่ทหารรักษาพระองค์และพวกนายทหารว่า "จงเข้าไปฆ่าเขาเสีย อย่าให้รอดสักคนเดียว" เมื่อเขาฆ่าเขาทั้งหลายเสียด้วยคมดาบแล้ว ทหารรักษาพระองค์และพวกนายทหารก็โยนศพเขาทั้งหลายออกไปข้างนอก แล้วก็ไปที่เมืองแห่งนิเวศของพระบาอัล

²⁵It happened, as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, that Jehu said to the guard and to the captains, “Go in, and kill them! Let none escape.” They struck them with the edge of the sword; and the guard and the captains cast them out, and went to the city of the house of Baal.

²⁶เขานำเอาเสาศักดิ์สิทธิ์ซึ่งอยู่ในนิเวศของพระบาอัลออกมาเผาเสีย

²⁶They brought out the pillars that were in the house of Baal, and burned them.

²⁷และเขาทั้งหลายทลายเสาศักดิ์สิทธิ์แห่งพระบาอัล และทลายนิเวศของพระบาอัลและกระทำให้เป็นส้วมจนทุกวันนี้

²⁷They broke down the pillar of Baal, and broke down the house of Baal, and made it a latrine, to this day.

²⁸เยฮูทรงกวาดล้างพระบาอัลจากอิสราเอลดังนี้แหละ

²⁸Thus Jehu destroyed Baal out of Israel.

²⁹แต่เยฮูมิได้ทรงหันจากบาปทั้งหลายของเยโรโบอัมบุตรชายเนบัท ซึ่งพระองค์ทรงกระทำให้อิสราเอลทำบาปด้วย คือวัวทองคำซึ่งอยู่ในเมืองเบธเอลและในเมืองดาน

²⁹However from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin, Jehu didn’t depart from after them, the golden calves that were in Bethel, and that were in Dan.

³⁰และพระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสกับเยฮูว่า "เพราะเจ้าได้ทำดีในการที่กระทำสิ่งที่ถูกต้องในสายตาของเรา และได้กระทำต่อราชวงศ์อาหับตามทุกอย่างที่อยู่ในใจของเรา ลูกหลานของเจ้าชั่วอายุที่สี่จะได้นั่งบนบัลลังก์แห่งอิสราเอล"

³⁰Yahweh said to Jehu, “Because you have done well in executing that which is right in my eyes, and have done to the house of Ahab according to all that was in my heart, your sons of the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel.”

³¹แต่เยฮูมิได้ทรงระมัดระวังที่จะดำเนินตามพระราชบัญญัติของพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอลด้วยสิ้นสุดพระทัยของพระองค์ พระองค์มิได้ทรงหันเสียจากบาปทั้งหลายของเยโรโบอัม ซึ่งพระองค์ทรงกระทำให้อิสราเอลทำบาปด้วย

³¹But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of Yahweh, the God of Israel, with all his heart. He didn’t depart from the sins of Jeroboam, with which he made Israel to sin.

³²ในสมัยนั้นพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงเริ่มตัดส่วนของอิสราเอลออก ฮาซาเอลได้รบชนะตามบรรดาพรมแดนอิสราเอล

³²In those days Yahweh began to cut off from Israel; and Hazael struck them in all the borders of Israel;

³³ตั้งแต่แม่น้ำจอร์แดนฟากตะวันออก ทั่วแผ่นดินกิเลอาด คนกาด คนรูเบนและคนมนัสเสห์ ตั้งแต่อาโรเออร์ ซึ่งอยู่ข้างที่ลุ่มแม่น้ำอารโนน คือกิเลอาดและบาชาน

³³from the Jordan eastward, all the land of Gilead, the Gadites, and the Reubenites, and the Manassites, from Aroer, which is by the valley of the Arnon, even Gilead and Bashan.

³⁴ส่วนพระราชกิจนอกนั้นของเยฮู และบรรดาสิ่งซึ่งพระองค์ทรงกระทำ และยุทธพลังทั้งสิ้นของพระองค์ มิได้บันทึกไว้ในหนังสือพงศาวดารแห่งกษัตริย์ประเทศอิสราเอลหรือ

³⁴Now the rest of the acts of Jehu, and all that he did, and all his might, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

³⁵เยฮูจึงทรงล่วงหลับไปอยู่กับบรรพบุรุษของพระองค์ และเขาก็ฝังไว้ในกรุงสะมาเรีย และเยโฮอาหาสโอรสของพระองค์ได้เสวยราชย์แทนพระองค์

³⁵Jehu slept with his fathers; and they buried him in Samaria. Jehoahaz his son reigned in his place.

³⁶เวลาที่เยฮูทรงครอบครองเหนืออิสราเอลในสะมาเรียนั้นเป็นยี่สิบแปดปี

³⁶The time that Jehu reigned over Israel in Samaria was twenty-eight years.
