1และบรรดาตระกูลคนอิสราเอลก็มาหาดาวิดที่เมืองเฮโบรนทูลว่า "ดูเถิด ข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายเป็นกระดูกและเนื้อของพระองค์
1Then came all the tribes of Israel to David to Hebron, and spoke, saying, “Behold, we are your bone and your flesh.
2ในอดีตเมื่อซาอูลเป็นกษัตริย์ปกครองเหนือเหล่าข้าพระองค์ พระองค์ทรงเป็นผู้นำอิสราเอลออกไปและเข้ามา และพระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสแก่พระองค์ว่า `เจ้าจะเลี้ยงดูอิสราเอลประชาชนของเรา และเจ้าจะเป็นเจ้าเหนือคนอิสราเอล'"
2In times past, when Saul was king over us, it was you who led out and brought in Israel. Yahweh said to you, ‘You shall be shepherd of my people Israel, and you shall be prince over Israel.’”
3ดังนั้นพวกผู้ใหญ่ของคนอิสราเอลก็มาเฝ้ากษัตริย์ที่เมืองเฮโบรน และกษัตริย์ดาวิดทรงกระทำพันธสัญญากับเขาทั้งหลายที่เมืองเฮโบรนต่อพระพักตร์พระเยโฮวาห์ และเขาทั้งหลายก็เจิมตั้งดาวิดให้เป็นกษัตริย์เหนืออิสราเอล
3So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a covenant with them in Hebron before Yahweh; and they anointed David king over Israel.
4ดาวิดมีพระชนมายุสามสิบพรรษาเมื่อเริ่มการปกครอง และพระองค์ทรงปกครองอยู่สี่สิบปี
4David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.
5ทรงปกครองเหนือยูดาห์ที่เฮโบรนเจ็ดปีหกเดือน และที่กรุงเยรูซาเล็มทรงปกครองเหนือบรรดาอิสราเอลและยูดาห์อีกสามสิบสามปี
5In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months; and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three years over all Israel and Judah.
6กษัตริย์และคนของพระองค์ได้ยกทัพไปยังเยรูซาเล็ม รบกับคนเยบุส ชาวแผ่นดินนั้นผู้ที่กล่าวกับดาวิดว่า "แกยกเข้ามาที่นี่ไม่ได้ดอก คนตาบอดและคนง่อยก็จะป้องกันไว้ได้" ด้วยคิดว่า "ดาวิดคงเข้ามาที่นี่ไม่ได้"
6The king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who spoke to David, saying, “Unless you take away the blind and the lame, you shall not come in here”; thinking, “David can’t come in here.”
7แต่อย่างไรก็ตาม ดาวิดทรงยึดที่กำบังเข้มแข็งชื่อศิโยนได้ คือเมืองของดาวิด
7Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion; the same is the city of David.
8ในวันนั้นดาวิดตรัสว่า "ผู้ใดจะขึ้นไปตามทางน้ำไหลและโจมตีคนเยบุส คนง่อยและคนตาบอด ผู้ซึ่งจิตใจของดาวิดเกลียดชัง ผู้นั้นจะเป็นผู้บัญชาการทหาร" เพราะฉะนั้นเขาจึงว่ากันว่า "อย่าให้คนตาบอดและคนง่อยเข้ามาในพระนิเวศ"
8David said on that day, “Whoever strikes the Jebusites, let him get up to the watercourse, and strike the lame and the blind, who are hated by David’s soul.” Therefore they say, “The blind and the lame can’t come into the house.”
9ดาวิดก็ทรงประทับอยู่ในที่กำบังเข้มแข็ง และเรียกที่นั้นว่า เมืองของดาวิด และดาวิดทรงสร้างเมืองรอบตั้งแต่มิลโลเข้าไปข้างใน
9David lived in the stronghold, and called it the city of David. David built around from Millo and inward.
10และดาวิดทรงเจริญยิ่งๆขึ้นไปเพราะว่าพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าจอมโยธาทรงสถิตกับพระองค์
10David grew greater and greater; for Yahweh, the God of Armies, was with him.
11ฮีรามกษัตริย์เมืองไทระได้ส่งผู้สื่อสารมาหาดาวิด และได้ส่งไม้สนสีดาร์ พวกช่างไม้และพวกช่างก่อมาสร้างพระราชวังของดาวิด
11Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and masons; and they built David a house.
12และดาวิดทรงทราบว่า พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงสถาปนาพระองค์ให้เป็นกษัตริย์เหนืออิสราเอล และพระองค์ได้ทรงยกย่องราชอาณาจักรของพระองค์ด้วยเห็นแก่อิสราเอลประชาชนของพระองค์
12David perceived that Yahweh had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel’s sake.
13ภายหลังที่พระองค์เสด็จจากเฮโบรน ดาวิดทรงได้นางสนมและมเหสีจากเยรูซาเล็มเพิ่มขึ้นอีก และบังเกิดราชโอรสและราชธิดาแก่ดาวิดอีก
13David took him more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he had come from Hebron; and there were yet sons and daughters born to David.
14ต่อไปนี้เป็นชื่อของผู้ที่บังเกิดกับพระองค์ในเยรูซาเล็ม คือ ชัมมุอา โชบับ นาธัน ซาโลมอน
14These are the names of those who were born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,
15อิบฮาร์ เอลีชูอา เนเฟก ยาเฟีย
15and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
16เอลีชามา เอลียาดา และเอลีเฟเลท
16and Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphelet.
17เมื่อคนฟีลิสเตียได้ยินข่าวว่าดาวิดได้รับการเจิมเป็นกษัตริย์เหนืออิสราเอล คนฟีลิสเตียทั้งปวงก็ขึ้นไปแสวงหาดาวิด แต่ดาวิดทรงได้ยินข่าวนั้นจึงลงไปยังที่กำบังเข้มแข็ง
17When the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the stronghold.
18ฝ่ายคนฟีลิสเตียยกขึ้นมาและขยายแนวออกที่หุบเขาเรฟาอิม
18Now the Philistines had come and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
19และดาวิดทรงทูลถามพระเยโฮวาห์ว่า "ควรที่ข้าพระองค์จะยกขึ้นไปสู้รบกับคนฟีลิสเตียหรือ พระองค์จะทรงมอบเขาไว้ในมือข้าพระองค์หรือไม่" และพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงตอบดาวิดว่า "จงขึ้นไปเถิด เพราะเราจะมอบคนฟีลิสเตียไว้ในมือของเจ้าเป็นแน่"
19David inquired of Yahweh, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hand?” Yahweh said to David, “Go up; for I will certainly deliver the Philistines into your hand.”
20ดาวิดเสด็จมายังบาอัลเปราซิม และดาวิดทรงชนะคนฟีลิสเตียที่นั่น พระองค์ตรัสว่า "พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงทะลวงข้าศึกของข้าพเจ้าดังกระแสน้ำที่พุ่งใส่" เพราะฉะนั้นจึงเรียกชื่อตำบลนั้นว่า บาอัลเปราซิม
20David came to Baal Perazim, and David struck them there; and he said, “Yahweh has broken my enemies before me, like the breach of waters.” Therefore he called the name of that place Baal Perazim.
21และคนฟีลิสเตียได้ทิ้งรูปเคารพที่นั่น ดาวิดกับข้าราชการของพระองค์ก็เผาเสีย
21They left their images there; and David and his men took them away.
22คนฟีลิสเตียยกขึ้นมาอีกและขยายแนวอยู่ในหุบเขาเรฟาอิม
22The Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
23และเมื่อดาวิดทูลถามพระเยโฮวาห์ พระองค์ตรัสว่า "เจ้าอย่าขึ้น จงอ้อมไปข้างหลังของเขา และโจมตีเขาตรงข้ามกับหมู่ต้นหม่อน
23When David inquired of Yahweh, he said, “You shall not go up. Circle around behind them, and attack them over against the mulberry trees.
24และเมื่อเจ้าได้ยินเสียงกระบวนทัพเดินอยู่ที่ยอดหมู่ต้นหม่อนเจ้าจงรีบรุกไป เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์เสด็จไปข้างหน้าเพื่อจะโจมตีกองทัพของคนฟีลิสเตีย"
24It shall be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then you shall stir yourself up; for then Yahweh has gone out before you to strike the army of the Philistines.”
25และดาวิดทรงกระทำตามที่พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงบัญชาไว้ และได้โจมตีคนฟีลิสเตียจากเกบาถึงเกเซอร์
25David did so, as Yahweh commanded him, and struck the Philistines from Geba until you come to Gezer.
