1พี่น้องทั้งหลาย ในที่สุดนี้จงอธิษฐานเพื่อเรา เพื่อว่าพระวจนะขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าจะได้แผ่ไป และจะได้รับเกียรติยศเหมือนอย่างที่ได้เป็นไปในหมู่พวกท่านแล้ว
1Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may spread rapidly and be glorified, even as also with you;
2และเพื่อเราจะได้พ้นจากคนพาลชั่วร้าย เพราะว่าไม่ใช่ทุกคนเชื่อ
2and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and evil men; for not all have faith.
3แต่ว่าองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงสัตย์ซื่อ จะทรงเสริมกำลังท่านทั้งหลาย และทรงป้องกันท่านไว้ให้พ้นจากการชั่วร้าย
3But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you, and guard you from the evil one.
4เรามีความมั่นใจในองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าเกี่ยวกับท่านว่า ท่านกำลังประพฤติและจะประพฤติต่อไปตามที่เรากำชับท่าน
4We have confidence in the Lord concerning you, that you both do and will do the things we command.
5ขอองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงนำใจของท่านทั้งหลายให้เข้าในความรักของพระเจ้า และอดทนในการรอคอยพระคริสต์
5May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patience of Christ.
6บัดนี้ พี่น้องทั้งหลาย เราขอกำชับท่านในพระนามของพระเยซูคริสต์องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าของเราว่า จงปลีกตัวของท่านออกไปจากพี่น้องทุกคนที่อยู่อย่างเกะกะ และไม่ประพฤติตามโอวาทซึ่งเขาได้รับจากเรา
6Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw yourselves from every brother who walks in rebellion, and not after the tradition which they received from us.
7เพราะว่าตัวท่านเองก็รู้อยู่ว่าท่านควรจะทำตามเราอย่างไร เพราะเรามิได้ประพฤติเกะกะเลยเมื่อเราอยู่ในหมู่พวกท่าน
7For you know how you ought to imitate us. For we didn’t behave ourselves rebelliously among you,
8และเรามิได้ทานอาหารผู้ใดเปล่าๆ แต่เราได้ทำการหนักด้วยความพากเพียรทั้งกลางวันและกลางคืน เพื่อเราจะไม่เป็นภาระแก่คนหนึ่งคนใดในพวกท่าน
8neither did we eat bread from anyone’s hand without paying for it, but in labor and travail worked night and day, that we might not burden any of you;
9มิใช่เพราะเราไม่มีสิทธิ์ แต่ว่าเพื่อทำตัวเป็นแบบอย่างให้ท่านทั้งหลายทำตามเรา
9not because we don’t have the right, but to make ourselves an example to you, that you should imitate us.
10แม้เมื่อเราอยู่กับพวกท่าน เราก็ได้กำชับท่านอย่างนี้ว่า ถ้าผู้ใดไม่ยอมทำงาน ก็อย่าให้เขากิน
10For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: “If anyone will not work, neither let him eat.”
11เพราะเราได้ยินว่า มีบางคนในพวกท่านอยู่อย่างเกะกะ ไม่ทำงานอะไรเลย แต่ชอบยุ่งกับธุระของคนอื่น
11For we hear of some who walk among you in rebellion, who don’t work at all, but are busybodies.
12เราจึงกำชับและเตือนสติคนเช่นนั้นโดยพระเยซูคริสต์องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าของเราว่า ให้เขาทำงานด้วยใจสงบ และกินอาหารของตนเอง
12Now those who are that way, we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.
13พี่น้องทั้งหลาย ท่านอย่าอ่อนใจที่จะกระทำการดีเลย
13But you, brothers, don’t be weary in doing well.
14ถ้าผู้ใดไม่เชื่อฟังถ้อยคำของเราในจดหมายฉบับนี้ จงจดจำคนนั้นไว้ อย่าสมาคมกับเขาเลย เพื่อเขาจะได้อาย
14If any man doesn’t obey our word in this letter, note that man, that you have no company with him, to the end that he may be ashamed.
15อย่าถือว่าเขาเป็นศัตรู แต่จงเตือนสติเขาฉันพี่น้องคนหนึ่ง
15Don’t count him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.
16บัดนี้ ขอให้องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าแห่งสันติสุข ทรงโปรดประทานสันติสุขให้แก่ท่านทั้งหลายทุกเวลาและทุกทาง ขอให้องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าดำรงอยู่กับท่านทุกคนเถิด
16Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in all ways. The Lord be with you all.
17นี่แหละเป็นคำคำนับของข้าพเจ้าคือ เปาโล ที่เขียนด้วยมือของข้าพเจ้าเอง ซึ่งเป็นเครื่องหมายในจดหมายทุกฉบับ ข้าพเจ้าจึงเขียนเช่นนี้
