¹ยังมีชายคนหนึ่งชื่อโครเนลิอัส อาศัยอยู่ในเมืองซีซารียา เป็นนายร้อยอยู่ในกองทหารที่เรียกว่ากองอิตาเลีย

¹Now there was a certain man in Caesarea, Cornelius by name, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment,

²เป็นคนมีศรัทธามาก คือท่านและทั้งครอบครัวเป็นคนยำเกรงพระเจ้า ท่านเคยให้ทานมากมายแก่ประชาชน และอธิษฐานต่อพระเจ้าเสมอ

²a devout man, and one who feared God with all his house, who gave gifts for the needy generously to the people, and always prayed to God.

³เวลาประมาณบ่ายสามโมงนายร้อยนั้นเห็นนิมิตแจ่มกระจ่าง คือเห็นทูตสวรรค์องค์หนึ่งของพระเจ้า เข้ามาหาท่านและกล่าวแก่ท่านว่า "โครเนลิอัสเอ๋ย"

³At about the ninth hour of the day 3:00 PM , he clearly saw in a vision an angel of God coming to him, and saying to him, “Cornelius!”

⁴และเมื่อโครเนลิอัสเขม้นดูทูตสวรรค์องค์นั้นด้วยความตกใจกลัว จึงถามว่า "นี่เป็นประการใด พระองค์เจ้าข้า" ทูตสวรรค์จึงตอบท่านว่า "คำอธิษฐานและทานของท่านนั้น ได้ขึ้นไปเป็นที่ระลึกถึงจำเพาะพระพักตร์พระเจ้าแล้ว

⁴He, fastening his eyes on him, and being frightened, said, “What is it, Lord?” He said to him, “Your prayers and your gifts to the needy have gone up for a memorial before God.

⁵บัดนี้จงใช้คนไปยังเมืองยัฟฟาเชิญซีโมนที่เรียกว่าเปโตรมา

⁵Now send men to Joppa, and get Simon, who is surnamed Peter.

⁶เปโตรอาศัยอยู่กับคนหนึ่งชื่อซีโมนเป็นช่างฟอกหนัง บ้านของเขาอยู่ริมฝั่งทะเล เปโตรจะบอกท่านว่าท่านควรจะทำอะไร"

⁶He lodges with one Simon, a tanner, whose house is by the seaside. TR adds “This one will tell you what it is necessary for you to do.” ”

⁷ครั้นทูตสวรรค์ที่ได้พูดกับโครเนลิอัสไปแล้ว ท่านได้เรียกคนใช้สองคนกับทหารคนหนึ่งซึ่งเป็นคนมีศรัทธามาก ที่เคยปรนนิบัติท่านเสมอ

⁷When the angel who spoke to him had departed, Cornelius called two of his household servants and a devout soldier of those who waited on him continually.

⁸และเมื่อโครเนลิอัสได้เล่าเหตุการณ์ทั้งปวงให้คนเหล่านั้นฟังแล้ว ท่านจึงใช้เขาไปยังเมืองยัฟฟา

⁸Having explained everything to them, he sent them to Joppa.

⁹วันรุ่งขึ้นคนเหล่านั้นกำลังเดินทางไปใกล้เมืองยัฟฟาแล้ว ประมาณเวลาเที่ยงวันเปโตรก็ขึ้นไปบนหลังคาบ้านเพื่อจะอธิษฐาน

⁹Now on the next day as they were on their journey, and got close to the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray at about noon.

¹⁰ก็หิวอยากจะรับประทานอาหาร แต่ในระหว่างที่เขายังจัดอาหารอยู่ เปโตรได้เคลิ้มไป

¹⁰He became hungry and desired to eat, but while they were preparing, he fell into a trance.

¹¹และได้เห็นท้องฟ้าแหวกออกเป็นช่อง มีภาชนะอย่างหนึ่งเหมือนผ้าผืนใหญ่ ผูกติดกันทั้งสี่มุมหย่อนลงมายังพื้นโลก

¹¹He saw heaven opened and a certain container descending to him, like a great sheet let down by four corners on the earth,

¹²ในนั้นมีสัตว์ทุกอย่างที่อยู่บนแผ่นดิน คือสัตว์สี่เท้า สัตว์ป่า สัตว์เลื้อยคลานและนกที่อยู่ในท้องฟ้า

¹²in which were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, wild animals, reptiles, and birds of the sky.

¹³มีพระสุรเสียงมาว่าแก่ท่านว่า "เปโตรเอ๋ย จงลุกขึ้นฆ่ากินเถิด"

¹³A voice came to him, “Rise, Peter, kill and eat!”

¹⁴ฝ่ายเปโตรจึงทูลว่า "มิได้ พระองค์เจ้าข้า เพราะว่าสิ่งซึ่งเป็นของต้องห้ามหรือของมลทินนั้น ข้าพระองค์ไม่เคยได้รับประทานเลย"

¹⁴But Peter said, “Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean.”

¹⁵แล้วจึงมีพระสุรเสียงอีกเป็นครั้งที่สองว่าแก่ท่านว่า "ซึ่งพระเจ้าได้ทรงชำระแล้ว อย่าว่าเป็นของต้องห้าม"

¹⁵A voice came to him again the second time, “What God has cleansed, you must not call unclean.”

¹⁶เห็นอย่างนั้นถึงสามครั้ง แล้วสิ่งนั้นก็ถูกรับขึ้นไปอีกในท้องฟ้า

¹⁶This was done three times, and immediately the vessel was received up into heaven.

¹⁷เมื่อเปโตรยังคิดสงสัยเรื่องนิมิตที่เห็นนั้นว่ามีความหมายอย่างไร ดูเถิด คนที่โครเนลิอัสใช้ไปนั้น เมื่อถามหาและพบบ้านของซีโมนแล้วก็มายืนอยู่หน้าประตูรั้ว

¹⁷Now while Peter was very perplexed in himself what the vision which he had seen might mean, behold, the men who were sent by Cornelius, having made inquiry for Simon’s house, stood before the gate,

¹⁸และร้องถามว่า ซีโมนที่เรียกว่าเปโตรอยู่ที่นั่นหรือไม่

¹⁸and called and asked whether Simon, who was surnamed Peter, was lodging there.

¹⁹เมื่อเปโตรตริตรองเรื่องนิมิตนั้น พระวิญญาณก็ตรัสกับท่านว่า "ดูเถิด ชายสามคนตามหาเจ้า

¹⁹While Peter was pondering the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Behold, three Reading from TR and NU. MT omits “three” men seek you.

²⁰จงลุกขึ้นลงไปข้างล่างและไปกับเขาเถิด อย่าลังเลใจเลย เพราะว่าเราได้ใช้เขามา"

²⁰But arise, get down, and go with them, doubting nothing; for I have sent them.”

²¹เปโตรจึงลงไปหาคนเหล่านั้นซึ่งโครเนลิอัสได้ใช้มากล่าวว่า "ดูเถิด ข้าพเจ้าเป็นคนที่ท่านมาหานั้น ท่านมาธุระอะไร"

²¹Peter went down to the men, and said, “Behold, I am he whom you seek. Why have you come?”

²²เขาจึงตอบว่า "นายร้อยโครเนลิอัส เป็นคนชอบธรรมและเกรงกลัวพระเจ้า และเป็นคนมีชื่อเสียงดีในบรรดาชาวยิว โครเนลิอัสผู้นั้นได้รับคำเตือนจากพระเจ้าโดยผ่านทูตสวรรค์บริสุทธิ์ ให้มาเชิญท่านไปที่บ้านเพื่อจะฟังถ้อยคำของท่าน"

²²They said, “Cornelius, a centurion, a righteous man and one who fears God, and well spoken of by all the nation of the Jews, was directed by a holy angel to invite you to his house, and to listen to what you say.”

²³เปโตรจึงเชิญเขาให้เข้ามาหยุดพักอยู่ที่นั่น วันรุ่งขึ้นเปโตรก็ไปกับเขาและพวกพี่น้องบางคนที่เมืองยัฟฟาก็ไปด้วย

²³So he called them in and lodged them. On the next day Peter arose and went out with them, and some of the brothers from Joppa accompanied him.

²⁴ล่วงมาอีกวันหนึ่งเขาก็ไปถึงเมืองซีซารียา โครเนลิอัสกำลังคอยรับรองอยู่ และเชิญญาติพี่น้องกับเพื่อนสนิทให้มาประชุมกันอยู่แล้ว

²⁴On the next day they entered into Caesarea. Cornelius was waiting for them, having called together his relatives and his near friends.

²⁵ครั้นเปโตรเข้าไป โครเนลิอัสก็ต้อนรับเปโตร และหมอบที่เท้ากราบไหว้ท่าน

²⁵When it happened that Peter entered, Cornelius met him, fell down at his feet, and worshiped him.

²⁶ฝ่ายเปโตรจึงจับตัวโครเนลิอัสให้ลุกขึ้นและกล่าวว่า "จงยืนขึ้นเถิด ข้าพเจ้าก็เป็นแต่มนุษย์เหมือนกัน"

²⁶But Peter raised him up, saying, “Stand up! I myself am also a man.”

²⁷เมื่อกำลังสนทนากันอยู่ เปโตรจึงเข้าไปแลเห็นคนเป็นอันมากมาพร้อมกัน

²⁷As he talked with him, he went in and found many gathered together.

²⁸จึงกล่าวแก่คนเหล่านั้นว่า "ท่านทั้งหลายทราบแล้วว่า คนชาติยิวนั้นจะคบให้สนิทกับคนต่างชาติหรือเข้าเยี่ยมก็เป็นที่พระราชบัญญัติห้ามไว้ แต่พระเจ้าได้ทรงสำแดงแก่ข้าพเจ้าแล้วว่า ไม่ควรเรียกคนหนึ่งคนใดว่าเป็นที่ห้ามหรือมลทิน

²⁸He said to them, “You yourselves know how it is an unlawful thing for a man who is a Jew to join himself or come to one of another nation, but God has shown me that I shouldn’t call any man unholy or unclean.

²⁹เหตุฉะนั้น เมื่อท่านใช้คนไปเรียกข้าพเจ้า ข้าพเจ้าก็มาโดยไม่ขัด ข้าพเจ้าจึงขอถามว่าท่านเรียกข้าพเจ้ามาด้วยประสงค์อะไร"

²⁹Therefore also I came without complaint when I was sent for. I ask therefore, why did you send for me?”

³⁰โครเนลิอัสจึงตอบว่า "สี่วันมาแล้ว ข้าพเจ้ากำลังถืออดอาหารอยู่จนถึงเวลานี้ และประมาณเวลาบ่ายสามโมงข้าพเจ้าได้อธิษฐานอยู่ในบ้านของข้าพเจ้า ดูเถิด มีชายคนหนึ่งยืนอยู่ตรงหน้าข้าพเจ้าสวมเสื้อมันระยับ

³⁰Cornelius said, “Four days ago, I was fasting until this hour, and at the ninth hour, 3:00 P. M. I prayed in my house, and behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

³¹ผู้นั้นได้กล่าวว่า `โครเนลิอัสเอ๋ย คำอธิษฐานของท่านนั้นทรงสดับฟังแล้ว และทานของท่านนั้นก็เป็นที่ระลึกถึงในสายพระเนตรของพระเจ้าแล้ว

³¹and said, ‘Cornelius, your prayer is heard, and your gifts to the needy are remembered in the sight of God.

³²เหตุฉะนั้น จงใช้คนไปยังเมืองยัฟฟา เชิญซีโมนที่เรียกว่าเปโตรมา ผู้นั้นอาศัยอยู่ในบ้านของซีโมนช่างฟอกหนังที่ฝั่งทะเล ผู้นั้นเมื่อมาถึงแล้วจะกล่าวแก่ท่าน'

³²Send therefore to Joppa, and summon Simon, who is surnamed Peter. He lodges in the house of Simon a tanner, by the seaside. When he comes, he will speak to you.’

³³ข้าพเจ้าจึงใช้คนไปเชิญท่านมาทันที ที่ท่านมาก็ดีแล้ว บัดนี้พวกข้าพเจ้าจึงอยู่พร้อมกันต่อพระพักตร์พระเจ้า เพื่อจะฟังสิ่งสารพัดซึ่งพระเจ้าได้ตรัสสั่งท่านไว้"

³³Therefore I sent to you at once, and it was good of you to come. Now therefore we are all here present in the sight of God to hear all things that have been commanded you by God.”

³⁴ฝ่ายเปโตรจึงกล่าวว่า "ข้าพเจ้าเห็นจริงแล้วว่า พระเจ้าไม่ทรงเลือกหน้าผู้ใด

³⁴Peter opened his mouth and said, “Truly I perceive that God doesn’t show favoritism;

³⁵แต่คนใดๆในทุกชาติที่เกรงกลัวพระองค์และประพฤติตามทางชอบธรรมก็เป็นที่ชอบพระทัยพระองค์

³⁵but in every nation he who fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him.

³⁶พระคำที่พระเจ้าได้ทรงฝากไว้กับชนชาติอิสราเอล คือการประกาศข่าวดีเรื่องสันติสุขโดยพระเยซูคริสต์ (ผู้เป็นองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าของคนทั้งปวง)

³⁶The word which he sent to the children of Israel, preaching good news of peace by Jesus Christ—he is Lord of all—

³⁷ข้าพเจ้ากล่าวว่า พระคำนั้นท่านทั้งหลายก็รู้ คือพระคำที่ได้เล่ากันตั้งแต่ต้นที่แคว้นกาลิลี ไปจนตลอดทั่วแคว้นยูเดีย ภายหลังการบัพติศมาที่ยอห์นได้ประกาศนั้น

³⁷you yourselves know what happened, which was proclaimed throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;

³⁸คือเรื่องพระเยซูชาวนาซาเร็ธว่า พระเจ้าได้ทรงเจิมพระองค์ด้วยพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์และด้วยฤทธานุภาพอย่างไร และพระเยซูเสด็จไปกระทำคุณประโยชน์และรักษาบรรดาคนซึ่งถูกพญามารเบียดเบียน ด้วยว่าพระเจ้าได้ทรงสถิตกับพระองค์

³⁸even Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

³⁹เราทั้งหลายเป็นพยานถึงกิจการทั้งปวง ซึ่งพระองค์ทรงกระทำในแผ่นดินของชนชาติยิวและในกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม พระองค์นั้นเขาได้ฆ่าและแขวนไว้ที่ต้นไม้

³⁹We are witnesses of everything he did both in the country of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they also TR omits “also” killed, hanging him on a tree.

⁴⁰ในวันที่สามพระเจ้าได้ทรงให้พระองค์คืนพระชนม์และทรงให้ปรากฏ

⁴⁰God raised him up the third day, and gave him to be revealed,

⁴¹มิใช่ทรงให้ปรากฏแก่คนทั่วไป แต่ทรงปรากฏแก่เหล่าพวกพยานซึ่งพระเจ้าได้ทรงเลือกไว้แต่ก่อน คือทรงปรากฏแก่พวกเราที่ได้รับประทานและดื่มกับพระองค์ เมื่อพระองค์ทรงคืนพระชนม์แล้ว

⁴¹not to all the people, but to witnesses who were chosen before by God, to us, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.

⁴²พระองค์ทรงสั่งให้เราทั้งหลายประกาศแก่คนทั้งปวง และเป็นพยานว่าพระเจ้าได้ทรงตั้งพระองค์ไว้เป็นผู้พิพากษาทั้งคนเป็นและคนตาย

⁴²He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that this is he who is appointed by God as the Judge of the living and the dead.

⁴³ศาสดาพยากรณ์ทั้งหลายย่อมเป็นพยานถึงพระองค์ว่า ทุกๆคนที่เชื่อถือในพระองค์นั้นจะได้รับการทรงยกความผิดบาปของเขา เพราะพระนามของพระองค์"

⁴³All the prophets testify about him, that through his name everyone who believes in him will receive remission of sins.”

⁴⁴เมื่อเปโตรยังกล่าวคำเหล่านั้นอยู่ พระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์ก็เสด็จลงมาสถิตกับคนทั้งปวงที่ฟังพระวจนะนั้น

⁴⁴While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all those who heard the word.

⁴⁵ฝ่ายพวกที่ได้เข้าสุหนัตซึ่งเชื่อถือแล้ว คือคนที่มาด้วยกันกับเปโตรก็ประหลาดใจ เพราะว่าของประทานแห่งพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์ได้ลงมาบนคนต่างชาติด้วย

⁴⁵They of the circumcision who believed were amazed, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was also poured out on the Gentiles.

⁴⁶เพราะเขาได้ยินคนเหล่านั้นพูดภาษาแปลกๆและยกย่องสรรเสริญพระเจ้า เปโตรจึงย้อนถามว่า

⁴⁶For they heard them speaking in other languages and magnifying God. Then Peter answered,

⁴⁷"ใครอาจจะห้ามคนเหล่านี้ที่ได้รับพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์เหมือนเรา โดยมิให้เขารับบัพติศมาด้วยน้ำได้"

⁴⁷“Can any man forbid the water, that these who have received the Holy Spirit as well as we should not be baptized?”

⁴⁸เปโตรจึงสั่งให้เขารับบัพติศมาในพระนามขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า และเขาทั้งหลายได้ขอให้เปโตรยับยั้งอยู่กับเขาอีกสองสามวัน

⁴⁸He commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay some days.
