1มีฤดูกาลสำหรับทุกสิ่ง และมีวารสำหรับเรื่องราวทุกอย่างภายใต้ฟ้าสวรรค์
1For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven:
2มีวารเกิด และวารตาย มีวารปลูก และวารถอนสิ่งที่ปลูกทิ้ง
2a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
3มีวารฆ่า และวารรักษาให้หาย มีวารรื้อทลายลง และวารก่อสร้างขึ้น
3a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4มีวารร้องไห้ และวารหัวเราะ มีวารไว้ทุกข์ และวารเต้นรำ
4a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5มีวารโยนหินทิ้ง และวารเก็บรวบรวมหิน มีวารสวมกอด และวารงดเว้นการสวมกอด
5a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6มีวารแสวงหา และวารทำหาย วารเก็บรักษาไว้ และวารโยนทิ้งไป
6a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7มีวารฉีกขาด และวารเย็บ วารนิ่งเงียบ และวารพูด
7a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8มีวารรัก และวารเกลียด วารสงคราม และวารสันติ
8a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace.
9คนงานได้กำไรอะไรจากการงานของเขา
9What profit has he who works in that in which he labors?
10ข้าพเจ้าเห็นเรื่องยากลำบากซึ่งพระเจ้าประทานให้บุตรทั้งหลายของมนุษย์ทำกันอยู่นั้น
10I have seen the burden which God has given to the sons of men to be afflicted with.
11พระองค์ทรงกระทำให้สรรพสิ่งงดงามตามฤดูกาลของมัน พระองค์ทรงบรรจุโลกไว้ในจิตใจของมนุษย์ เพื่อมนุษย์จะมองไม่เห็นว่าพระเจ้าทรงกระทำอะไรไว้ตั้งแต่เดิมจนกาลสุดปลาย
11He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in their hearts, yet so that man can’t find out the work that God has done from the beginning even to the end.
12ข้าพเจ้าทราบแล้วว่า สำหรับเขาไม่มีอะไรที่จะดีไปกว่าเปรมปรีดิ์และกระทำการดีตลอดชีวิต
12I know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice, and to do good as long as they live.
13และว่าเป็นของประทานจากพระเจ้าแก่มนุษย์ ที่จะให้มนุษย์ได้กินดื่มและเพลิดเพลินในบรรดาการงานของเขา
13Also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy good in all his labor, is the gift of God.
14ข้าพเจ้าทราบอยู่ว่าสารพัดที่พระเจ้าทรงกระทำก็ดำรงอยู่เป็นนิตย์ จะเพิ่มเติมอะไรเข้าไปอีกก็ไม่ได้ หรือจะชักอะไรออกเสียก็ไม่ได้ พระเจ้าทรงกระทำเช่นนั้น เพื่อให้คนทั้งหลายมีความยำเกรงต่อพระพักตร์พระองค์
14I know that whatever God does, it shall be forever. Nothing can be added to it, nor anything taken from it; and God has done it, that men should fear before him.
15อะไรๆซึ่งเป็นอยู่ในปัจจุบันก็เป็นอยู่นานมาแล้ว อะไรๆที่จะเป็นมาก็เคยเป็นอยู่นานมาแล้ว และพระเจ้าทรงแสวงอะไรๆที่ล่วงไปนั้น
15That which is has been long ago, and that which is to be has been long ago: and God seeks again that which is passed away.
16ยิ่งกว่านั้นอีก ที่ภายใต้ดวงอาทิตย์ข้าพเจ้าเห็นว่า ในที่ของความยุติธรรมมีความชั่วร้ายอยู่ด้วย และในที่ของความชอบธรรมมีความชั่วช้าอยู่ด้วย
16Moreover I saw under the sun, in the place of justice, that wickedness was there; and in the place of righteousness, that wickedness was there.
17ข้าพเจ้ารำพึงในใจของข้าพเจ้าว่า "พระเจ้าจะทรงพิพากษาคนชอบธรรมและคนชั่วร้าย เพราะมีกาลกำหนดไว้สำหรับทุกเรื่อง และสำหรับการงานทุกอย่าง"
17I said in my heart, “God will judge the righteous and the wicked; for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.”
18ข้าพเจ้ารำพึงในใจของข้าพเจ้าเกี่ยวกับสภาพของบุตรทั้งหลายของมนุษย์ว่า "พระเจ้าทรงทดสอบเขาเพื่อจะสำแดงว่าเขาเป็นเพียงสัตว์"
18I said in my heart, “As for the sons of men, God tests them, so that they may see that they themselves are like animals.
19เพราะว่าเหตุการณ์ของบุตรทั้งหลายของมนุษย์กับเหตุการณ์ของสัตว์เดียรัจฉานนั้นเหมือนกัน คือเป็นเหตุการณ์อันเดียวกัน ฝ่ายหนึ่งตาย อีกฝ่ายหนึ่งก็ตายเหมือนกัน ทั้งสองมีลมหายใจอย่างเดียวกัน และมนุษย์ไม่มีอะไรดีกว่าสัตว์เดียรัจฉาน เพราะสารพัดก็อนิจจัง
19For that which happens to the sons of men happens to animals. Even one thing happens to them. As the one dies, so the other dies. Yes, they have all one breath; and man has no advantage over the animals: for all is vanity.
20สารพัดไปยังที่เดียวกัน สารพัดเป็นมาจากผงคลีดิน และสารพัดกลับเป็นผงคลีดินอีก
20All go to one place. All are from the dust, and all turn to dust again.
21ใครรู้ว่าจิตวิญญาณของมนุษย์ไปสู่เบื้องบนหรือเปล่า และวิญญาณของสัตว์เดียรัจฉานลงไปสู่พิภพโลกหรือเปล่า
21Who knows the spirit of man, whether it goes upward, and the spirit of the animal, whether it goes downward to the earth?”
22เพราะฉะนั้นข้าพเจ้าจึงเห็นว่า ไม่มีอะไรดีไปกว่าที่มนุษย์จะเปรมปรีดิ์ในการงานของตน ด้วยว่านั่นเป็นส่วนของเขา ใครจะนำเขาให้เห็นว่าอะไรจะเป็นมาภายหลังเขา
22Therefore I saw that there is nothing better, than that a man should rejoice in his works; for that is his portion: for who can bring him to see what will be after him?
