1อยู่มาในวันที่สามพระนางเอสเธอร์ทรงฉลองพระองค์ และประทับยืนที่ในลานชั้นในของพระราชสำนัก ตรงข้ามกับท้องพระโรงใหญ่ของกษัตริย์ กษัตริย์ประทับบนราชบัลลังก์ภายในพระราชวัง ตรงข้ามทางเข้าพระราชวัง
1Now it happened on the third day that Esther put on her royal clothing, and stood in the inner court of the king’s house, next to the king’s house. The king sat on his royal throne in the royal house, next to the entrance of the house.
2เมื่อกษัตริย์ทอดพระเนตรเห็นพระราชินีเอสเธอร์ประทับยืนอยู่ในพระลาน พระนางก็เป็นที่โปรดปรานในสายพระเนตรของพระองค์ พระองค์จึงทรงยื่นธารพระกรทองคำซึ่งอยู่ในพระหัตถ์ของพระองค์แก่พระนางเอสเธอร์ พระนางเอสเธอร์ก็เสด็จเข้ามาแตะยอดธารพระกร
2When the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, she obtained favor in his sight; and the king held out to Esther the golden scepter that was in his hand. So Esther came near, and touched the top of the scepter.
3กษัตริย์ตรัสกับพระนางว่า "พระราชินีเอสเธอร์ เรื่องอะไรกัน พระนางต้องการสิ่งใด ก็จะประทานให้แก่พระนางถึงครึ่งราชอาณาจักรของเรา"
3Then the king asked her, “What would you like, queen Esther? What is your request? It shall be given you even to the half of the kingdom.”
4และพระนางเอสเธอร์ทูลว่า "ถ้าเป็นที่พอพระทัยกษัตริย์ ขอกษัตริย์เสด็จมาพร้อมกับฮามานในวันนี้ถึงการเลี้ยงที่หม่อมฉันเตรียมไว้เพื่อพระองค์"
4Esther said, “If it seems good to the king, let the king and Haman come today to the banquet that I have prepared for him.”
5กษัตริย์จึงตรัสว่า "ให้ฮามานรีบมา เพื่อท่านจะได้กระทำตามที่พระนางเอสเธอร์ปรารถนา" กษัตริย์จึงเสด็จไปในการเลี้ยงกับฮามานซึ่งพระนางเอสเธอร์ได้ทรงเตรียมไว้
5Then the king said, “Bring Haman quickly, so that it may be done as Esther has said.” So the king and Haman came to the banquet that Esther had prepared.
6ขณะอยู่ที่การเลี้ยงเหล้าองุ่นกษัตริย์ตรัสกับเอสเธอร์ว่า "คำร้องขอของพระนางว่ากระไร เราจะให้ แล้วคำทูลขอของพระนางว่ากระไร แม้จะถึงครึ่งราชอาณาจักรของเรา ก็จะสำเร็จ"
6The king said to Esther at the banquet of wine, “What is your petition? It shall be granted you. What is your request? Even to the half of the kingdom it shall be performed.”
7พระนางเอสเธอร์ทูลว่า "คำร้องขอของหม่อมฉันและคำทูลขอของหม่อมฉัน คือ
7Then Esther answered and said, “My petition and my request is this.
8ถ้าหม่อมฉันเป็นที่โปรดปรานในสายพระเนตรของกษัตริย์ และเป็นที่พอพระทัยกษัตริย์ที่จะประทานตามคำร้องขอของหม่อมฉัน และให้คำทูลขอของหม่อมฉันสำเร็จนี้ ขอกษัตริย์เสด็จมาพร้อมกับฮามานในการเลี้ยงซึ่งหม่อมฉันจะเตรียมไว้สำหรับเขาทั้งหลาย และพรุ่งนี้หม่อมฉันจะกระทำตามที่กษัตริย์ตรัสนั้น"
8If I have found favor in the sight of the king, and if it please the king to grant my petition and to perform my request, let the king and Haman come to the banquet that I will prepare for them, and I will do tomorrow as the king has said.”
9วันนั้นฮามานก็ออกไปด้วยใจชื่นบานและยินดี แต่เมื่อฮามานเห็นโมรเดคัยที่ประตูของกษัตริย์ ไม่ยืนขึ้นหรือตัวสั่นอยู่ต่อหน้าท่าน ท่านก็เดือดดาลต่อโมรเดคัย
9Then Haman went out that day joyful and glad of heart, but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king’s gate, that he didn’t stand up nor move for him, he was filled with wrath against Mordecai.
10ถึงอย่างนั้นก็ดี ฮามานก็อดกลั้นไว้ กลับไปบ้าน ใช้ให้คนไปตามบรรดาเพื่อนของตนและเศเรชภรรยาของตน
10Nevertheless Haman restrained himself, and went home. There, he sent and called for his friends and Zeresh his wife.
11ฮามานพรรณนาถึงความโอ่โถงแห่งความมั่งมีของท่าน จำนวนบุตรของท่าน และเกียรติยศทั้งสิ้นซึ่งกษัตริย์พระราชทานแก่ท่าน และถึงเรื่องว่ากษัตริย์ได้เลื่อนท่านขึ้นเหนือเจ้านาย และข้าราชการของกษัตริย์อย่างไร
11Haman recounted to them the glory of his riches, the multitude of his children, all the things in which the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king.
12แล้วฮามานเสริมว่า "แม้พระราชินีเอสเธอร์ก็มิได้ทรงให้ผู้ใดไปกับกษัตริย์ในการเลี้ยงซึ่งพระนางทรงจัดขึ้นนอกจากตัวข้า และพรุ่งนี้พระนางทรงเชิญข้ากับกษัตริย์อีก
12Haman also said, “Yes, Esther the queen let no man come in with the king to the banquet that she had prepared but myself; and tomorrow I am also invited by her together with the king.
13แต่สิ่งเหล่านี้หาเป็นประโยชน์แก่ข้าไม่ ตราบใดที่ข้าเห็นโมรเดคัยคนยิวนั่งอยู่ที่ประตูของกษัตริย์"
13Yet all this avails me nothing, so long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king’s gate.”
14เศเรชภรรยาของท่าน และสหายทั้งสิ้นของท่านจึงพูดกับท่านว่า "ขอทำตะแลงแกงสูงห้าสิบศอก รุ่งเช้าก็ทูลกษัตริย์ให้แขวนโมรเดคัยเสียที่นั่น แล้วก็ไปกินเลี้ยงอย่างร่าเริงกับกษัตริย์" คำแนะนำนี้เป็นที่พอใจฮามาน ท่านจึงสั่งให้ทำตะแลงแกง
14Then Zeresh his wife and all his friends said to him, “Let a gallows be made fifty cubits high, and in the morning speak to the king about hanging Mordecai on it. Then go in merrily with the king to the banquet.” This pleased Haman, so he had the gallows made.
