¹พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสกับโมเสสว่า

¹Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

²"จงถวายลูกหัวปีทั้งปวงแก่เรา คือทุกสิ่งของชนชาติอิสราเอลที่ออกจากครรภ์ครั้งแรก จะเป็นมนุษย์หรือสัตว์ สิ่งนั้นเป็นของของเรา"

²“Sanctify to me all of the firstborn, whatever opens the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of animal. It is mine.”

³โมเสสจึงกล่าวแก่ประชาชนว่า "จงระลึกถึงวันนี้ที่ท่านทั้งหลายออกมาจากอียิปต์ จากเรือนทาส เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงนำท่านทั้งหลายออกจากที่นั่นด้วยฤทธิ์พระหัตถ์ อย่ากินขนมปังที่มีเชื้อเลย

³Moses said to the people, “Remember this day, in which you came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand Yahweh brought you out from this place. No leavened bread shall be eaten.

⁴ท่านทั้งหลายยกออกไปในวันนี้ในเดือนอาบีบ

⁴This day you go out in the month Abib.

⁵ครั้นพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงนำพวกท่านมาถึงแผ่นดินของคนคานาอัน คนฮิตไทต์ คนอาโมไรต์ คนฮีไวต์ และคนเยบุส ที่พระองค์ทรงปฏิญาณไว้กับบรรพบุรุษของท่านว่า จะยกแผ่นดินนี้ให้พวกท่าน เป็นแผ่นดินที่มีน้ำนมและน้ำผึ้งไหลบริบูรณ์ ท่านทั้งหลายจงถือพิธีนี้ในเดือนนั้น

⁵It shall be, when Yahweh shall bring you into the land of the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Amorite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite, which he swore to your fathers to give you, a land flowing with milk and honey, that you shall keep this service in this month.

⁶จงกินขนมปังไร้เชื้อเป็นเวลาเจ็ดวัน และวันที่เจ็ดจงมีเทศกาลเลี้ยงถวายพระเยโฮวาห์

⁶Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, and in the seventh day shall be a feast to Yahweh.

⁷จงกินขนมปังไร้เชื้อให้ครบกำหนดเจ็ดวัน อย่าให้เห็นขนมปังซึ่งมีเชื้อ หรือให้เห็นเชื้อขนมปังในเขตของพวกท่าน

⁷Unleavened bread shall be eaten throughout the seven days; and no leavened bread shall be seen with you, neither shall yeast be seen with you, in all your borders.

⁸ในวันนั้นจงบอกบุตรของท่านว่า `ที่ได้ทำดังนี้ก็เพราะเหตุการณ์ซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์ได้ทรงกระทำสำหรับเรา ขณะเมื่อเราออกจากอียิปต์'

⁸You shall tell your son in that day, saying, ‘It is because of that which Yahweh did for me when I came out of Egypt.’

⁹สำหรับท่านพิธีนี้จะเป็นดังรอยสำคัญที่มือของท่าน และดังเครื่องระลึกระหว่างนัยน์ตาของท่าน เพื่อพระราชบัญญัติของพระเยโฮวาห์จะได้อยู่ในปากของท่าน เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์ได้ทรงนำพวกท่านออกมาจากอียิปต์ด้วยพระหัตถ์อันทรงฤทธิ์

⁹It shall be for a sign to you on your hand, and for a memorial between your eyes, that the law of Yahweh may be in your mouth; for with a strong hand Yahweh has brought you out of Egypt.

¹⁰เพราะฉะนั้น พวกท่านจงปฏิบัติตามกฎพิธีนี้ตามกำหนดทุกๆปีไป

¹⁰You shall therefore keep this ordinance in its season from year to year.

¹¹เมื่อพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงนำท่านไปยังแผ่นดินของคนคานาอัน ดังที่พระองค์ได้ทรงปฏิญาณไว้กับท่านและบรรพบุรุษของท่านว่า จะทรงยกแผ่นดินนั้นให้แก่ท่าน

¹¹“It shall be, when Yahweh shall bring you into the land of the Canaanite, as he swore to you and to your fathers, and shall give it you,

¹²ทุกอย่างที่เบิกครรภ์ครั้งแรกนั้น ท่านจงแยกถวายแด่พระเยโฮวาห์ และลูกสัตว์หัวปีตัวผู้ที่เกิดจากสัตว์ใช้งานของท่าน จงเป็นของพระเยโฮวาห์

¹²that you shall set apart to Yahweh all that opens the womb, and every firstborn which you have that comes from an animal. The males shall be Yahweh’s.

¹³จงเอาลูกแกะไถ่ลูกลาหัวปี ถ้าไม่ไถ่จงหักคอมันเสีย จงไถ่บุตรหัวปีทั้งหลายของมนุษย์ไว้ทั้งหมด

¹³Every firstborn of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb; and if you will not redeem it, then you shall break its neck; and you shall redeem all the firstborn of man among your sons.

¹⁴ต่อไปภายหน้า เมื่อบุตรของท่านจะถามว่า `ทำไมจึงทำอย่างนี้' จงเล่าให้เขาฟังว่า `พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงนำพวกเราออกจากอียิปต์ จากเรือนทาสด้วยฤทธิ์พระหัตถ์

¹⁴It shall be, when your son asks you in time to come, saying, ‘What is this?’ that you shall tell him, ‘By strength of hand Yahweh brought us out from Egypt, from the house of bondage;

¹⁵ต่อมาครั้นพระทัยของฟาโรห์ดื้อไม่ยอมปล่อยให้พวกเราไป พระเยโฮวาห์จึงทรงประหารลูกหัวปีทั้งหลายในประเทศอียิปต์ ทั้งลูกหัวปีของมนุษย์และลูกหัวปีของสัตว์ด้วย เหตุฉะนี้ เราจึงถวายบรรดาสัตว์หัวปีตัวผู้ที่เบิกครรภ์ครั้งแรกแด่พระเยโฮวาห์ แต่บุตรหัวปีทั้งหลายของเรา เราก็ไถ่ไว้'

¹⁵and it happened, when Pharaoh would hardly let us go, that Yahweh killed all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man, and the firstborn of animal. Therefore I sacrifice to Yahweh all that opens the womb, being males; but all the firstborn of my sons I redeem.’

¹⁶พิธีนี้จะเป็นดังรอยสำคัญที่มือของท่าน และดังเครื่องหมายระหว่างนัยน์ตาของท่าน เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์ได้ทรงนำพวกเราออกจากอียิปต์ด้วยฤทธิ์พระหัตถ์"

¹⁶It shall be for a sign on your hand, and for symbols between your eyes: for by strength of hand Yahweh brought us out of Egypt.”

¹⁷ต่อมาเมื่อฟาโรห์ปล่อยพลไพร่ไปแล้ว พระเจ้ามิได้ทรงนำเขาไปทางแผ่นดินของชาวฟีลิสเตีย แม้ว่าจะเป็นทางใกล้ เพราะพระเจ้าตรัสว่า "เกรงว่าเมื่อพลไพร่ไปเผชิญสงครามเข้า เขาจะเปลี่ยนใจและกลับไปยังอียิปต์เสีย"

¹⁷It happened, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God didn’t lead them by the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, “Lest perhaps the people change their minds when they see war, and they return to Egypt”;

¹⁸พระเจ้าจึงทรงนำเขาอ้อมไปทางถิ่นทุรกันดารยังทะเลแดง ชนชาติอิสราเอลก็ออกไปจากแผ่นดินอียิปต์มีอาวุธพร้อมที่จะทำสงคราม

¹⁸but God led the people around by the way of the wilderness by the Red Sea or, Sea of Reeds ; and the children of Israel went up armed out of the land of Egypt.

¹⁹โมเสสเอากระดูกของโยเซฟไปด้วย เพราะโยเซฟให้ชนชาติอิสราเอลปฏิญาณไว้ว่า "พระเจ้าจะเสด็จมาเยี่ยมท่านทั้งหลายเป็นแน่ แล้วท่านจงเอากระดูกของเราไปจากที่นี่ด้วย"

¹⁹Moses took the bones of Joseph with him, for he had made the children of Israel swear, saying, “God will surely visit you, and you shall carry up my bones away from here with you.”

²⁰คนอิสราเอลยกออกจากเมืองสุคคท ไปตั้งค่ายที่ตำบลเอธามบริเวณชายถิ่นทุรกันดาร

²⁰They took their journey from Succoth, and encamped in Etham, in the edge of the wilderness.

²¹พระเยโฮวาห์เสด็จนำทางพวกเขาในเวลากลางวันด้วยเสาเมฆ และตอนกลางคืนด้วยเสาเพลิง ให้เขามีแสงสว่างเพื่อจะได้เดินทางได้ทั้งกลางวันและกลางคืน

²¹Yahweh went before them by day in a pillar of cloud, to lead them on their way, and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light, that they might go by day and by night:

²²เสาเมฆในเวลากลางวันและเสาเพลิงในเวลากลางคืน พระองค์มิได้ให้คลาดจากเบื้องหน้าพลไพร่เลย

²²the pillar of cloud by day, and the pillar of fire by night, didn’t depart from before the people.
