1พระเยโฮวาห์ได้ตรัสแก่อับรามแล้วว่า "เจ้าจงออกไปจากประเทศของเจ้า จากญาติพี่น้องของเจ้า และจากบ้านบิดาของเจ้า ไปยังแผ่นดินที่เราจะชี้ให้เจ้าเห็น
1Now Yahweh said to Abram, “Get out of your country, and from your relatives, and from your father’s house, to the land that I will show you.
2เราจะทำให้เจ้าเป็นชนชาติใหญ่ชนชาติหนึ่ง เราจะอวยพรเจ้า ทำให้เจ้ามีชื่อเสียงใหญ่โต และเจ้าจะเป็นแหล่งพระพร
2I will make of you a great nation. I will bless you and make your name great. You will be a blessing.
3เราจะอวยพรผู้ที่อวยพรเจ้า และสาปแช่งผู้ที่สาปแช่งเจ้า บรรดาครอบครัวทั่วแผ่นดินโลกจะได้รับพระพรเพราะเจ้า"
3I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you. All of the families of the earth will be blessed in you.”
4ดังนั้นอับรามจึงออกไปตามที่พระเยโฮวาห์ได้ตรัสแก่ท่านและโลทก็ไปกับท่าน อับรามมีอายุได้เจ็ดสิบห้าปีขณะเมื่อท่านออกจากเมืองฮาราน
4So Abram went, as Yahweh had spoken to him. Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed out of Haran.
5อับรามพานางซารายภรรยาของท่าน โลทบุตรชายของน้องชายท่าน บรรดาทรัพย์สิ่งของของพวกเขาที่ได้สะสมไว้ และผู้คนทั้งหลายที่ได้ไว้ที่เมืองฮาราน พวกเขาออกไปเพื่อเข้าไปยังแผ่นดินคานาอัน และพวกเขาไปถึงแผ่นดินคานาอัน
5Abram took Sarai his wife, Lot his brother’s son, all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls whom they had gotten in Haran, and they went to go into the land of Canaan. Into the land of Canaan they came.
6อับรามเดินผ่านแผ่นดินนั้นจนถึงสถานที่เมืองเชเคม คือที่ราบโมเรห์ คราวนั้นชาวคานาอันยังอยู่ในแผ่นดินนั้น
6Abram passed through the land to the place of Shechem, to the oak of Moreh. The Canaanite was then in the land.
7พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงปรากฏแก่อับรามและตรัสว่า "เราจะให้แผ่นดินนี้แก่เชื้อสายของเจ้า" อับรามจึงสร้างแท่นบูชาที่นั่นถวายแด่พระเยโฮวาห์ ผู้ทรงปรากฏแก่ท่าน
7Yahweh appeared to Abram and said, “I will give this land to your seed or, offspring .” He built an altar there to Yahweh, who appeared to him.
8ท่านย้ายไปจากที่นั่นมาถึงภูเขาลูกหนึ่งทางทิศตะวันออกของเมืองเบธเอลแล้วตั้งเต็นท์ของท่าน โดยเมืองเบธเอลอยู่ทางทิศตะวันตกและเมืองอัยอยู่ทางทิศตะวันออก ณ ที่นั่นท่านสร้างแท่นบูชาแด่พระเยโฮวาห์ และร้องออกพระนามของพระเยโฮวาห์
8He left from there to the mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Ai on the east. There he built an altar to Yahweh and called on the name of Yahweh.
9และอับรามก็ยังคงเดินทางเรื่อยไป ไปทางทิศใต้
9Abram traveled, going on still toward the South.
10เกิดการกันดารอาหารที่แผ่นดิน อับรามได้ลงไปยังอียิปต์เพื่ออาศัยอยู่ที่นั่น เพราะว่าการกันดารอาหารในแผ่นดินนั้นมากยิ่งนัก
10There was a famine in the land. Abram went down into Egypt to live as a foreigner there, for the famine was severe in the land.
11ต่อมาเมื่อท่านใกล้จะเข้าอียิปต์ ท่านจึงพูดกับนางซารายภรรยาของท่านว่า "ดูเถิด บัดนี้ข้าพเจ้ารู้ว่าเจ้าเป็นหญิงรูปงามน่าดู
11It happened, when he had come near to enter Egypt, that he said to Sarai his wife, “See now, I know that you are a beautiful woman to look at.
12เพราะฉะนั้นต่อมาเมื่อคนอียิปต์จะเห็นเจ้า พวกเขาจะพูดว่า `นี่เป็นภรรยาของเขา' และพวกเขาจะฆ่าข้าพเจ้าเสีย แต่พวกเขาจะไว้ชีวิตเจ้า
12It will happen, when the Egyptians will see you, that they will say, ‘This is his wife.’ They will kill me, but they will save you alive.
13กรุณาพูดว่าเจ้าเป็นน้องสาวของข้าพเจ้า เพื่อข้าพเจ้าจะอยู่อย่างสุขสบายเพราะเห็นแก่เจ้า และข้าพเจ้าจะมีชีวิตเพราะเหตุเจ้า"
13Please say that you are my sister, that it may be well with me for your sake, and that my soul may live because of you.”
14ต่อมาเมื่ออับราบเข้าไปในอียิปต์แล้ว คนอียิปต์เห็นว่าหญิงคนนี้รูปงามยิ่งนัก
14It happened that when Abram had come into Egypt, the Egyptians saw that the woman was very beautiful.
15พวกเจ้านายของฟาโรห์เห็นนางด้วยเช่นกัน และทูลยกย่องนางต่อพระพักตร์ฟาโรห์ และหญิงนั้นจึงถูกนำเข้าไปอยู่ในวังของฟาโรห์
15The princes of Pharaoh saw her, and praised her to Pharaoh; and the woman was taken into Pharaoh’s house.
16ฟาโรห์ได้โปรดปรานอับรามมากเพราะเห็นแก่นาง ท่านได้แกะ วัว ลาตัวผู้ ทาส ทาสี ลาตัวเมีย และอูฐจำนวนมาก
16He dealt well with Abram for her sake. He had sheep, cattle, male donkeys, male servants, female servants, female donkeys, and camels.
17และพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงทำให้เกิดภัยพิบัติแก่ฟาโรห์และราชวงค์ของท่านด้วยภัยพิบัติร้ายแรงต่างๆ เพราะเหตุนางซารายภรรยาของอับราม
17Yahweh plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram’s wife.
18ฟาโรห์จึงเรียกอับรามมาและตรัสว่า "ทำไมเจ้าจึงทำเช่นนี้แก่เรา ทำไมเจ้าไม่บอกเราว่านางเป็นภรรยาของเจ้า
18Pharaoh called Abram and said, “What is this that you have done to me? Why didn’t you tell me that she was your wife?
19ทำไมเจ้าว่า `เธอเป็นน้องสาวของข้าพระองค์' ดังนั้นเราเกือบจะรับนางมาเป็นภรรยาของเรา บัดนี้จงดูภรรยาของเจ้า จงรับนางไปและออกไปตามทางของเจ้า"
19Why did you say, ‘She is my sister,’ so that I took her to be my wife? Now therefore, see your wife, take her, and go your way.”
20ฟาโรห์จึงรับสั่งพวกคนใช้เรื่องท่าน และพวกเขาจึงนำท่าน ภรรยาและสิ่งสารพัดที่ท่านมีอยู่ออกไปเสีย
20Pharaoh commanded men concerning him, and they brought him on the way with his wife and all that he had.
