¹ณ วันที่ยี่สิบเอ็ด เดือนที่เจ็ด พระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์มาโดยทางฮักกัยผู้พยากรณ์ว่า

¹In the seventh month, in the twenty-first day of the month, the Word of Yahweh came by Haggai the prophet, saying,

²"จงกล่าวแก่เศรุบบาเบลบุตรชายเชอัลทิเอล ผู้ว่าราชการเมืองยูดาห์ และแก่โยชูวาบุตรชายเยโฮซาดัก มหาปุโรหิต และแก่ประชาชนที่เหลืออยู่เถิด ว่า

²“Speak now to Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to the remnant of the people, saying,

³ใครบ้างที่เหลืออยู่ท่ามกลางพวกท่านนี้ ที่เห็นพระนิเวศนี้ครั้งเมื่อมีสง่าราศีเดิมนั้น บัดนี้ท่านเหล่านั้นเห็นเป็นอย่างไร มองดูแล้วเปรียบกันไม่ได้เลยใช่ไหม

³‘Who is left among you who saw this house in its former glory? How do you see it now? Isn’t it in your eyes as nothing?

⁴พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า โอ เศรุบบาเบลเอ๋ย แม้กระนั้นก็ดี จงกล้าหาญเถิด โอ โยชูวาบุตรชายเยโฮซาดัก มหาปุโรหิตเอ๋ย จงกล้าหาญเถิด ประชาชนทั้งสิ้นแห่งแผ่นดินเอ๋ย จงกล้าหาญเถิด พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้แหละ พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสว่า จงทำงานเถิด เพราะเราอยู่กับเจ้า

⁴Yet now be strong, Zerubbabel,’ says Yahweh. ‘Be strong, Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest. Be strong, all you people of the land,’ says Yahweh, ‘and work, for I am with you,’ says Yahweh of Armies.

⁵ตามถ้อยคำซึ่งเราได้ทำเป็นพันธสัญญาไว้กับเจ้า เมื่อเจ้าทั้งหลายออกจากอียิปต์ วิญญาณของเราอยู่ท่ามกลางเจ้า อย่ากลัวเลย

⁵This is the word that I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt, and my Spirit lived among you. ‘Don’t be afraid.’

⁶เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสดังนี้ว่า อีกสักหน่อย เราจะเขย่าท้องฟ้าและโลก ทะเลและแผ่นดินแห้ง อีกครั้งหนึ่ง

⁶For this is what Yahweh of Armies says: ‘Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, the earth, the sea, and the dry land;

⁷เราจะเขย่าประชาชาติทั้งสิ้น เพื่อความปรารถนาของประชาชาติทั้งสิ้นจะได้เข้ามา เราจะบรรจุนิเวศนี้ให้เต็มด้วยสง่าราศี พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสดังนี้แหละ

⁷and I will shake all nations. The precious things of all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory, says Yahweh of Armies.

⁸เงินเป็นของเรา และทองคำเป็นของเรา พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสดังนี้แหละ

⁸The silver is mine, and the gold is mine,’ says Yahweh of Armies.

⁹พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสว่า สง่าราศีของพระนิเวศครั้งหลังนี้จะยิ่งกว่าครั้งเดิมนั้น พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสว่า และเราจะให้เกิดความสมบูรณ์พูนสุขในสถานที่นี้"

⁹‘The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former,’ says Yahweh of Armies; ‘and in this place will I give peace,’ says Yahweh of Armies.”

¹⁰เมื่อวันที่ยี่สิบสี่ เดือนที่เก้า ในปีที่สองของรัชกาลดาริอัส พระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์มาโดยทางฮักกัยผู้พยากรณ์ว่า

¹⁰In the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the Word of Yahweh came by Haggai the prophet, saying,

¹¹พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสดังนี้ว่า จงถามบรรดาปุโรหิตเกี่ยวกับราชบัญญัติเถิดว่า

¹¹“Thus says Yahweh of Armies: Ask now the priests concerning the law, saying,

¹²"ถ้าผู้ใดยกชายเสื้อคลุมทำพกห่อเนื้อบริสุทธิ์ไป หากว่าชายเสื้อตัวนั้นไปถูกขนมปังหรือแกง หรือน้ำองุ่น หรือน้ำมัน หรืออาหารใดๆ สิ่งนั้นจะพลอยบริสุทธิ์ไปด้วยหรือไม่" พวกปุโรหิตตอบว่า "ไม่บริสุทธิ์"

¹²‘If someone carries holy meat in the fold of his garment, and with his fold touches bread, stew, wine, oil, or any food, will it become holy?’” The priests answered, “No.”

¹³แล้วฮักกัยจึงถามว่า "ถ้าคนหนึ่งคนใดที่มลทินเพราะไปถูกศพมา แล้วมาถูกสิ่งเหล่านี้เข้า สิ่งเหล่านี้จะมลทินไปด้วยหรือไม่" ปุโรหิตตอบว่า "สิ่งเหล่านี้จะมลทินไปด้วย"

¹³Then Haggai said, “If one who is unclean by reason of a dead body touch any of these, will it be unclean?” The priests answered, “It will be unclean.”

¹⁴ฮักกัยจึงตอบว่า "พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า ต่อหน้าเรา ชนชาตินี้เป็นอย่างนั้นและประชาชาตินี้ก็เป็นอย่างนั้น ผลงานทุกอย่างที่มือของเขากระทำเป็นอย่างนั้นด้วย และสิ่งใดๆที่เขาถวายบูชาที่นั่น ก็เป็นมลทิน

¹⁴Then Haggai answered, “‘So is this people, and so is this nation before me,’ says Yahweh; ‘and so is every work of their hands. That which they offer there is unclean.

¹⁵บัดนี้ จงพิจารณาเถิดว่า ตั้งแต่วันนี้เป็นต้นไปจะเกิดเหตุอะไรขึ้นบ้าง คือก่อนที่ศิลาก้อนหนึ่งจะวางซ้อนบนศิลาก้อนหนึ่งที่ในพระวิหารของพระเยโฮวาห์

¹⁵Now, please consider from this day and backward, before a stone was laid on a stone in Yahweh’s temple.

¹⁶ก่อนสิ่งเหล่านี้เกิดขึ้น เมื่อผู้ใดมายังกองข้าวคิดว่าจะตวงได้ยี่สิบถัง ก็มีแต่สิบถัง เมื่อผู้หนึ่งมาถึงบ่อเก็บน้ำองุ่นเพื่อตักเอาห้าสิบถัง ก็มีแต่ยี่สิบถัง

¹⁶Through all that time, when one came to a heap of twenty measures, there were only ten. When one came to the wine vat to draw out fifty, there were only twenty.

¹⁷พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า เราได้โจมตีเจ้าและผลงานทั้งสิ้นจากมือของเจ้าด้วยให้ข้าวม้าน และขึ้นรา และด้วยลูกเห็บ แต่เจ้าทั้งหลายก็ยังไม่หันมาหาเรา

¹⁷I struck you with blight, mildew, and hail in all the work of your hands; yet you didn’t turn to me,’ says Yahweh.

¹⁸จงพิจารณาตั้งแต่วันนี้เป็นต้นไป คือวันที่ยี่สิบสี่ เดือนที่เก้า คือตั้งแต่วันที่วางรากฐานแห่งพระวิหารของพระเยโฮวาห์ จงพิจารณาดู

¹⁸‘Consider, please, from this day and backward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, since the day that the foundation of Yahweh’s temple was laid, consider it.

¹⁹ยังมีข้าวตกค้างอยู่ในยุ้งบ้างหรือ เถาองุ่น ต้นมะเดื่อ และต้นทับทิมกับต้นมะกอกเทศยังไม่เกิดผลหรือ ตั้งแต่วันนี้เป็นต้นไป เราจะอำนวยพรแก่เจ้า"

¹⁹Is the seed yet in the barn? Yes, the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree haven’t brought forth. From this day will I bless you.’”

²⁰พระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์มาถึงฮักกัยเป็นครั้งที่สองเมื่อวันที่ยี่สิบสี่ของเดือนนั้นว่า

²⁰The Word of Yahweh came the second time to Haggai in the twenty-fourth day of the month, saying,

²¹"จงพูดกับเศรุบบาเบลผู้ว่าราชการเมืองยูดาห์ว่า เราจะเขย่าท้องฟ้าและโลก

²¹“Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, ‘I will shake the heavens and the earth.

²²และเราจะคว่ำพระที่นั่งของบรรดาราชอาณาจักร เราจะทำลายเรี่ยวแรงของบรรดาราชอาณาจักรแห่งประชาชาติ และจะคว่ำรถรบกับผู้ขับขี่ ม้าและผู้ขับขี่จะต้องล้มลง คือทุกคนจะต้องล้มลงด้วยดาบแห่งพี่น้องของเขา

²²I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms. I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the nations. I will overthrow the chariots, and those who ride in them. The horses and their riders will come down, everyone by the sword of his brother.

²³พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสว่า ในวันนั้นเราจะรับเจ้า โอ เศรุบบาเบล บุตรชายเชอัลทิเอล ผู้รับใช้ของเราเอ๋ย พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า เราจะกระทำเจ้าให้เป็นดังแหวนตรา เพราะเราได้เลือกสรรเจ้าแล้ว พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสดังนี้แหละ"

²³In that day, says Yahweh of Armies, will I take you, Zerubbabel, my servant, the son of Shealtiel,’ says Yahweh, ‘and will make you as a signet, for I have chosen you,’ says Yahweh of Armies.”
