¹When Ephraim spoke, there was trembling. He exalted himself in Israel, but when he became guilty in Baal, he died.

²เดี๋ยวนี้เขายิ่งทำบาปมากขึ้น และสร้างรูปหล่อไว้สำหรับตัวเป็นรูปเคารพที่สร้างด้วยเงินตามความคิดของเขาเอง เป็นงานของช่างที่สร้างขึ้นทั้งนั้น เขากล่าวว่า "สำหรับคนที่ถวายสัตวบูชาแด่สิ่งเหล่านี้ จงให้เขาจุบรูปลูกวัว"

²Now they sin more and more, and have made themselves molten images of their silver, even idols according to their own understanding, all of them the work of the craftsmen. They say of them, ‘They offer human sacrifice and kiss the calves.’

³เพราะฉะนั้นเขาจึงเหมือนหมอกในเวลาเช้า หรือเหมือนน้ำค้างที่หายไปตั้งแต่เช้า เหมือนแกลบที่ลมบ้าหมูพัดไปจากลานนวดข้าว หรือเหมือนควันที่ออกมาจากช่องลม

³Therefore they will be like the morning mist, and like the dew that passes away early, like the chaff that is driven with the whirlwind out of the threshing floor, and like the smoke out of the chimney.

⁴เราคือพระเยโฮวาห์ พระเจ้าของเจ้า ตั้งแต่ครั้งแผ่นดินอียิปต์ เจ้าทั้งหลายไม่รู้จักพระอื่นนอกจากเรา เพราะไม่มีผู้ช่วยอื่นใดนอกจากเรา

⁴“Yet I am Yahweh your God from the land of Egypt; and you shall acknowledge no god but me, and besides me there is no savior.

⁵เรานี่แหละที่คุ้นเคยกับเจ้าที่ในถิ่นทุรกันดาร ในแผ่นดินที่กันดารน้ำ

⁵I knew you in the wilderness, in the land of great drought.

⁶เมื่อเขาได้รับประทานเต็มคราบแล้ว เขาก็อิ่มหนำ และจิตใจของเขาก็ผยองขึ้น เพราะฉะนั้นเขาจึงลืมเราเสีย

⁶According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted. Therefore they have forgotten me.

⁷ดังนั้นเราจึงเป็นเหมือนสิงโตต่อเขา และเราจะซุ่มคอยอยู่ตามทางอย่างเสือดาว

⁷Therefore I am like a lion to them. Like a leopard, I will lurk by the path.

⁸เราจะตะครุบเขาอย่างกับแม่หมีที่ถูกพรากลูก เราจะฉีกอกของเขาและจะกินเขาเสียที่นั่นอย่างสิงโต สัตว์ป่าทุ่งจะฉีกเขา

⁸I will meet them like a bear that is bereaved of her cubs, and will tear the covering of their heart. There I will devour them like a lioness. The wild animal will tear them.

⁹โอ อิสราเอลเอ๋ย เจ้าได้ทำลายตัวเอง แต่เราช่วยเจ้าได้

⁹You are destroyed, Israel, because you are against me, against your help.

¹⁰เราประสงค์เป็นกษัตริย์ของเจ้า กษัตริย์อื่นๆที่สามารถช่วยเจ้าในเมืองทั้งหลายของเจ้าอยู่ที่ไหน และผู้ปกครองของเจ้าอยู่ที่ไหน คือพวกเหล่านั้นที่เจ้าได้กล่าวเรื่องเขาว่า "ขอตั้งกษัตริย์และเจ้านายไว้ให้แก่ข้าพเจ้า"

¹⁰Where is your king now, that he may save you in all your cities? And your judges, of whom you said, ‘Give me a king and princes?’

¹¹เพราะความกริ้วของเรา เราจึงให้เจ้ามีกษัตริย์ และเพราะความโกรธของเรา เราจึงเอากษัตริย์นั้นไปเสีย

¹¹I have given you a king in my anger, and have taken him away in my wrath.

¹²ความชั่วช้าของเอฟราอิมก็ห่อไว้ บาปของเขาก็เก็บสะสมไว้

¹²The guilt of Ephraim is stored up. His sin is stored up.

¹³การเจ็บท้องเตือนให้เขาคลอดก็มาถึงเขา แต่เขาเป็นบุตรชายที่เขลา ด้วยว่าถึงเวลาแล้วเขาก็ไม่ยอมคลอดออกมา

¹³The sorrows of a travailing woman will come on him. He is an unwise son; for when it is time, he doesn’t come to the opening of the womb.

¹⁴เราจะไถ่เขาให้พ้นอำนาจแดนคนตาย เราจะไถ่เขาให้พ้นความตาย โอ มัจจุราชเอ๋ย เราจะเป็นภัยพิบัติทั้งหลายของเจ้า โอ แดนคนตายเอ๋ย เราจะเป็นความพินาศของเจ้า การกลับใจเสียใหม่จะถูกบดบังไว้พ้นสายตาของเรา

¹⁴I will ransom them from the power of Sheol Sheol is the place of the dead. . I will redeem them from death! Death, where are your plagues? Sheol, where is your destruction? “Compassion will be hidden from my eyes.

¹⁵แม้ว่าเขาจะงอกงามขึ้นท่ามกลางพี่น้อง ลมตะวันออก คือลมของพระเยโฮวาห์จะพัดมา ขึ้นมาจากถิ่นทุรกันดาร และตาน้ำของเขาจะแห้งไป และน้ำพุของเขาก็จะแห้งผาก ลมนั้นจะริบของมีค่าทั้งหมดเอาไปจากคลังของเขา

¹⁵Though he is fruitful among his brothers, an east wind will come, the breath of Yahweh coming up from the wilderness; and his spring will become dry, and his fountain will be dried up. He will plunder the storehouse of treasure.

¹⁶สะมาเรียจะกลายเป็นที่รกร้าง เพราะเธอได้กบฏต่อพระเจ้าของเธอ เขาทั้งหลายจะล้มลงด้วยดาบ ทารกของเขาจะถูกจับโยนลงให้แหลกเป็นชิ้นๆ และหญิงมีครรภ์จะถูกผ่าท้อง

¹⁶Samaria will bear her guilt; for she has rebelled against her God. They will fall by the sword. Their infants will be dashed in pieces, and their pregnant women will be ripped open.”
