¹โอ วงศ์วานอิสราเอล จงฟังพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์ เพราะว่าพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงมีคดีกับชาวแผ่นดินนั้น เพราะว่าในแผ่นดินนั้นไม่มีความจริง ความเมตตา หรือความรู้ในเรื่องพระเจ้า

¹Hear the word of Yahweh, you children of Israel; for Yahweh has a charge against the inhabitants of the land: “Indeed there is no truth, nor goodness, nor knowledge of God in the land.

²มีแต่การปฏิญาณ การมุสา การฆ่ากัน การโจรกรรมและการล่วงประเวณี เขาหาญหักพันธะทั้งสิ้น มีแต่เลือดซ้อนเลือด

²There is cursing, lying, murder, stealing, and committing adultery; they break boundaries, and bloodshed causes bloodshed.

³เพราะฉะนั้น แผ่นดินจึงเป็นทุกข์ บรรดาคนที่อยู่ในแผ่นดินนั้นจะอ่อนระอาใจ ทั้งสัตว์ป่าทุ่งและนกในอากาศด้วย และปลาในทะเลจะถูกนำเอาไปเสียหมด

³Therefore the land will mourn, and everyone who dwells therein will waste away. all living things in her, even the animals of the field and the birds of the sky; yes, the fish of the sea also die.

⁴แต่อย่าให้ผู้ใดใส่ความหรืออย่าให้ผู้ใดฟ้อง เพราะประชาชนของเจ้าก็เหมือนกับคนทั้งหลายที่ต่อสู้กับปุโรหิต

⁵ฉะนั้นเวลากลางวันเจ้าจะสะดุด และผู้พยากรณ์จะสะดุดกับเจ้าในเวลากลางคืน และเราจะทำลายมารดาของเจ้า

⁵You will stumble in the day, and the prophet will also stumble with you in the night; and I will destroy your mother.

⁶ประชาชนของเราถูกทำลายเพราะขาดความรู้ เพราะเจ้าปฏิเสธไม่รับความรู้ เราก็ปฏิเสธเจ้าไม่ให้รับเป็นปุโรหิตของเรา เพราะเจ้าหลงลืมพระราชบัญญัติแห่งพระเจ้าของเจ้า เราก็จะลืมวงศ์วานของเจ้าเสียด้วย

⁶My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you, that you may be no priest to me. Because you have forgotten your God’s law, I will also forget your children.

⁷เขาทวีมากขึ้นเท่าใด เขาก็กระทำบาปต่อเรามากขึ้นเท่านั้น ฉะนั้นเราจะให้สง่าราศีของเขากลายเป็นความอับอาย

⁷As they were multiplied, so they sinned against me. I will change their glory into shame.

⁸เขาเลี้ยงชีพอยู่ด้วยบาปแห่งประชาชนของเรา เขามุ่งที่จะอิ่มด้วยความชั่วช้าของคนเหล่านั้น

⁸They feed on the sin of my people, and set their heart on their iniquity.

⁹ปุโรหิตเป็นอย่างไร ประชาชนก็จะเป็นอย่างนั้น เราจะลงทัณฑ์เขาเนื่องด้วยวิธีการของเขา เราจะลงโทษเขาตามการกระทำของเขา

⁹It will be, like people, like priest; and I will punish them for their ways, and will repay them for their deeds.

¹⁰เขาจะรับประทาน แต่ไม่รู้จักอิ่มหนำ เขาจะเล่นชู้ แต่ไม่เกิดผลดก เพราะว่าเขาได้ทอดทิ้งการเอาใจใส่พระเยโฮวาห์

¹⁰They will eat, and not have enough. They will play the prostitute, and will not increase; because they have abandoned giving to Yahweh.

¹¹การเล่นชู้ เหล้าองุ่นและเหล้าองุ่นใหม่ชิงเอาจิตใจไปเสีย

¹²ประชาชนของเราไปขอความเห็นจากสิ่งที่ทำด้วยไม้ และไม้ติ้วก็แจ้งแก่เขาอย่างเปิดเผย เพราะจิตใจที่ชอบเล่นชู้นำให้เขาหลงไป และเขาทั้งหลายได้ละทิ้งพระเจ้าของเขาเสียเพื่อไปเล่นชู้

¹²My people consult with their wooden idol, and answer to a stick of wood. Indeed the spirit of prostitution has led them astray, and they have been unfaithful to their God.

¹³เขาถวายสัตวบูชาอยู่ที่ยอดภูเขาและทำสักการบูชาเผาอยู่ที่เนินเขา ใต้ต้นโอ๊ก ต้นไค้และต้นเอ็ลม์ เพราะว่าร่มไม้เหล่านี้เย็นดี เพราะฉะนั้นธิดาทั้งหลายของเจ้าจึงจะเล่นชู้และเจ้าสาวทั้งหลายจึงจะล่วงประเวณี

¹³They sacrifice on the tops of the mountains, and burn incense on the hills, under oaks and poplars and terebinths, because its shade is good. Therefore your daughters play the prostitute, and your brides commit adultery.

¹⁴เมื่อธิดาทั้งหลายของเจ้าเล่นชู้ เราก็ไม่ลงโทษ หรือเมื่อเจ้าสาวของเจ้าล่วงประเวณี เราก็ไม่ลงทัณฑ์ เพราะผู้ชายเองก็หลงไปกับหญิงแพศยา และทำสักการบูชากับหญิงโสเภณี ดังนั้นชนชาติที่ไม่มีความเข้าใจจะมาถึงความพินาศ

¹⁴I will not punish your daughters when they play the prostitute, nor your brides when they commit adultery; because the men consort with prostitutes, and they sacrifice with the shrine prostitutes; so the people without understanding will come to ruin.

¹⁵โอ อิสราเอลเอ๋ย ถึงเจ้าจะเล่นชู้ก็อย่าให้ยูดาห์มีความผิด อย่าเข้าไปในเมืองกิลกาลหรือขึ้นไปยังเบธาเวน และอย่าปฏิญาณว่า "พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงพระชนม์อยู่แน่ฉันใด"

¹⁵“Though you, Israel, play the prostitute, yet don’t let Judah offend; and don’t come to Gilgal, neither go up to Beth Aven, nor swear, ‘As Yahweh lives.’

¹⁶เพราะว่าอิสราเอลนั้นเสื่อมถอยเหมือนวัวสาวที่เสื่อมลง บัดนี้พระเยโฮวาห์จะทรงเลี้ยงเขาดุจเลี้ยงแกะในทุ่งกว้าง

¹⁶For Israel has behaved extremely stubbornly, like a stubborn heifer. Then how will Yahweh feed them like a lamb in a meadow.

¹⁷เอฟราอิมก็ผูกพันอยู่กับรูปเคารพแล้ว ปล่อยเขาแต่ลำพัง

¹⁷Ephraim is joined to idols. Leave him alone!

¹⁸เครื่องดื่มของเขากลายเป็นน้ำเปรี้ยว เขาก็ปล่อยตัวไปเล่นชู้เสมอ ผู้ครอบครองของเขาแสดงความรักด้วยความน่าละอาย ดังนั้นจงให้

¹⁸Their drink has become sour. They play the prostitute continually. Her rulers dearly love their shameful way.

¹⁹ลมพายุเอาปีกห่อเขาไว้ เขาจะอดสูเพราะสัตวบูชาทั้งหลายของเขา

¹⁹The wind has wrapped her up in its wings; and they shall be disappointed because of their sacrifices.
