¹ต่อมาเมื่อกษัตริย์เฮเซคียาห์ทรงได้ยิน พระองค์ก็ทรงฉีกฉลองพระองค์เสีย และทรงเอาผ้ากระสอบคลุมพระองค์ และเสด็จเข้าในพระนิเวศของพระเยโฮวาห์

¹It happened, when king Hezekiah heard it, that he tore his clothes, covered himself with sackcloth, and went into Yahweh’s house.

²และพระองค์ทรงใช้เอลียาคิม ผู้บัญชาการราชสำนัก และเชบนาห์ราชเลขา และพวกปุโรหิตใหญ่คลุมตัวด้วยผ้ากระสอบ ไปหาอิสยาห์ผู้พยากรณ์ บุตรชายของอามอส

²He sent Eliakim, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz.

³เขาทั้งหลายเรียนท่านว่า "เฮเซคียาห์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า `วันนี้เป็นวันทุกข์ใจ วันถูกติเตียนและหมิ่นประมาท เด็กก็ถึงกำหนดคลอด แต่ไม่มีกำลังเบ่งให้คลอด

³They said to him, “Thus says Hezekiah, ‘This day is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and of rejection; for the children have come to the birth, and there is no strength to bring forth.

⁴ชะรอยพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านคงจะสดับถ้อยคำของรับชาเคห์ ผู้ซึ่งกษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรียนายของเขาได้สั่งมาให้เย้ยพระเจ้าผู้ทรงพระชนม์ และจะทรงขนาบถ้อยคำซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านได้ทรงสดับ เพราะฉะนั้นขอท่านถวายคำอธิษฐานเพื่อส่วนชนที่เหลืออยู่นี้'"

⁴It may be Yahweh your God will hear the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master has sent to defy the living God, and will rebuke the words which Yahweh your God has heard. Therefore lift up your prayer for the remnant that is left.’”

⁵ดังนั้นข้าราชการของกษัตริย์เฮเซคียาห์มาถึงอิสยาห์

⁵So the servants of king Hezekiah came to Isaiah.

⁶อิสยาห์ก็บอกเขาทั้งหลายว่า "จงทูลนายของท่านเถิดว่า พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า `อย่ากลัวเพราะถ้อยคำที่เจ้าได้ยินนั้น ซึ่งข้าราชการของกษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรียได้กล่าวหยาบช้าต่อเรา

⁶Isaiah said to them, “Tell your master, ‘Thus says Yahweh, “Don’t be afraid of the words that you have heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.

⁷ดูเถิด เราจะบรรจุจิตใจอย่างหนึ่งในเขา เพื่อเขาจะได้ยินข่าวลือ และกลับไปยังแผ่นดินของเขา และเราจะให้เขาล้มลงด้วยดาบในแผ่นดินของเขาเอง'"

⁷Behold, I will put a spirit in him and he will hear news, and will return to his own land. I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.”’”

⁸รับชาเคห์ได้กลับไป และได้พบกษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรียสู้รบเมืองลิบนาห์ เพราะเขาได้ยินว่ากษัตริย์ออกจากลาคีชแล้ว

⁸So Rabshakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah, for he had heard that he was departed from Lachish.

⁹He heard news concerning Tirhakah king of Ethiopia, “He has come out to fight against you.” When he heard it, he sent messengers to Hezekiah, saying,

¹⁰"เจ้าจงพูดกับเฮเซคียาห์กษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ดังนี้ว่า `อย่าให้พระเจ้าของท่านซึ่งท่านวางใจนั้นลวงท่านว่า "เยรูซาเล็มจะมิได้ถูกมอบไว้ในมือของกษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรีย"

¹⁰“Thus you shall speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, ‘Don’t let your God in whom you trust deceive you, saying, “Jerusalem won’t be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.”

¹¹ดูเถิด ท่านได้ยินแล้วว่า บรรดากษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรียได้กระทำอะไรกับแผ่นดินทั้งสิ้นบ้าง ทำลายเสียหมดอย่างสิ้นเชิง ส่วนท่านเองจะรับการช่วยให้พ้นหรือ

¹¹Behold, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, by destroying them utterly. Shall you be delivered?

¹²บรรดาพระของบรรดาประชาชาติได้ช่วยเขาให้รอดพ้นหรือ คือประชาชาติซึ่งบรรพบุรุษของเราได้ทำลาย คือโกซาน ฮาราน เรเซฟ และประชาชนของเอเดนซึ่งอยู่ในเทลอัสสาร์

¹²Have the gods of the nations delivered them, which my fathers have destroyed, Gozan, Haran, Rezeph, and the children of Eden who were in Telassar?

¹³กษัตริย์ของฮามัท กษัตริย์ของอารปัด กษัตริย์ของเมืองเสฟารวาอิม เฮนาและอิฟวาห์อยู่ที่ไหน'"

¹³Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and Ivvah?’”

¹⁴เฮเซคียาห์ทรงรับจดหมายจากมือผู้สื่อสาร และทรงอ่าน และเฮเซคียาห์ได้ขึ้นไปยังพระนิเวศของพระเยโฮวาห์ และทรงคลี่จดหมายนั้นออกต่อเบื้องพระพักตร์พระเยโฮวาห์

¹⁴Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers and read it. Then Hezekiah went up to Yahweh’s house, and spread it before Yahweh.

¹⁵และเฮเซคียาห์ทรงอธิษฐานต่อพระเยโฮวาห์ว่า

¹⁵Hezekiah prayed to Yahweh, saying,

¹⁶"ข้าแต่พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธา พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอล ผู้ทรงประทับระหว่างพวกเครูบ พระองค์ทรงเป็นพระเจ้าแห่งบรรดาราชอาณาจักรของแผ่นดินโลก พระองค์แต่องค์เดียว พระองค์ได้ทรงสร้างฟ้าสวรรค์และแผ่นดินโลก

¹⁶“Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, who is enthroned among the cherubim, you are the God, even you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth.

¹⁷ข้าแต่พระเยโฮวาห์ ขอทรงเงี่ยพระกรรณสดับ ข้าแต่พระเยโฮวาห์ ขอทรงเบิกพระเนตรทอดพระเนตร และขอทรงสดับบรรดาถ้อยคำของเซนนาเคอริบ ซึ่งเขาได้ใช้มาเย้ยพระเจ้าผู้ทรงพระชนม์

¹⁷Turn your ear, Yahweh, and hear. Open your eyes, Yahweh, and behold. Hear all of the words of Sennacherib, who has sent to defy the living God.

¹⁸ข้าแต่พระเยโฮวาห์ เป็นความจริงที่บรรดากษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรียได้กระทำให้ประเทศทั้งสิ้นและแผ่นดินของเขานั้นร้างเปล่า

¹⁸Truly, Yahweh, the kings of Assyria have destroyed all the countries and their land,

¹⁹และได้เหวี่ยงพระของประชาชาตินั้นเข้าไฟ เพราะเขามิใช่พระ เป็นแต่ผลงานของมือมนุษย์ เป็นไม้และหิน เพราะฉะนั้นเขาจึงถูกทำลายเสีย

¹⁹and have cast their gods into the fire; for they were no gods, but the work of men’s hands, wood and stone; therefore they have destroyed them.

²⁰ฉะนั้นบัดนี้ ข้าแต่พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลาย ขอทรงช่วยข้าพระองค์ให้พ้นมือของเขา เพื่อราชอาณาจักรทั้งสิ้นแห่งแผ่นดินโลกจะทราบว่า พระองค์ทรงเป็นพระเยโฮวาห์แต่พระองค์เดียว"

²⁰Now therefore, Yahweh our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you are Yahweh, even you only.”

²¹แล้วอิสยาห์บุตรชายของอามอสได้ใช้ให้ไปเฝ้าเฮเซคียาห์ทูลว่า "พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอลตรัสดังนี้ว่า เพราะเจ้าได้อธิษฐานต่อเราเกี่ยวกับเซนนาเคอริบกษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรีย

²¹Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, “Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, ‘Because you have prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria,

²²ต่อไปนี้เป็นพระวจนะซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสเกี่ยวกับท่านนั้นว่า `ธิดาพรหมจารีแห่งศิโยนดูหมิ่นเจ้า และหัวเราะเยาะเย้ยเจ้า ธิดาแห่งเยรูซาเล็มสั่นศีรษะใส่เจ้า

²²this is the word which Yahweh has spoken concerning him. The virgin daughter of Zion has despised you and ridiculed you. The daughter of Jerusalem has shaken her head at you.

²³เจ้าเย้ยและกล่าวหยาบช้าต่อผู้ใด เจ้าขึ้นเสียงของเจ้าต่อผู้ใด และเบิ่งตาของเจ้าอย่างเย่อหยิ่งต่อผู้ใด ต่อองค์บริสุทธิ์แห่งอิสราเอลน่ะซิ

²³Whom have you defied and blasphemed? Against whom have you exalted your voice and lifted up your eyes on high? Against the Holy One of Israel.

²⁴เจ้าได้เย้ยองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าด้วยผู้รับใช้ของเจ้า และเจ้าได้ว่า "ด้วยรถรบเป็นอันมากของข้า ข้าได้ขึ้นที่สูงของภูเขา ถึงที่ไกลสุดของเลบานอน ข้าจะโค่นต้นสนสีดาร์ที่สูงที่สุดของมันลง ทั้งต้นสนสามใบที่ดีที่สุดของมัน ข้าจะเข้าไปยังที่ยอดลิบที่สุดในชายแดนของมัน ที่ป่าไม้แห่งคารเมล

²⁴By your servants, have you defied the Lord, and have said, “With the multitude of my chariots I have come up to the height of the mountains, to the innermost parts of Lebanon. I will cut down its tall cedars and its choice fir trees. I will enter into its farthest height, the forest of its fruitful field.

²⁵ข้าขุดบ่อและดื่มน้ำ ข้าได้เอาฝ่าเท้าของข้ากวาดธารน้ำทั้งสิ้นของสถานที่ที่ถูกล้อมโจมตีให้แห้งไป"

²⁵I have dug and drunk water, and with the sole of my feet I will dry up all the rivers of Egypt.”

²⁶เจ้าไม่ได้ยินหรือว่า เราได้จัดไว้นานแล้ว เราได้กะแผนงานไว้แต่ดึกดำบรรพ์ ซึ่ง ณ บัดนี้เราให้เป็นไปแล้ว คือเจ้าจะทำเมืองที่มีป้อมให้พังลงให้เป็นกองสิ่งสลักหักพัง

²⁶Have you not heard how I have done it long ago, and formed it in ancient times? Now I have brought it to pass, that it should be yours to destroy fortified cities, turning them into ruinous heaps.

²⁷ส่วนชาวเมืองนั้นมีอำนาจน้อย เขาสะดุ้งกลัวและอับอาย เขาเหมือนหญ้าที่ทุ่งนา และเหมือนหญ้าอ่อน เหมือนหญ้าที่บนยอดหลังคาเรือน เหมือนข้าวเกรียมไปก่อนที่มันจะงอกงามอย่างนั้น

²⁷Therefore their inhabitants had little power. They were dismayed and confounded. They were like the grass of the field, and like the green herb, like the grass on the housetops, and like a field before its crop has grown.

²⁸แต่เราได้รู้จักการที่เจ้านั่งลงกับการออกไปและเข้ามาของเจ้า และการเกรี้ยวกราดของเจ้าต่อเรา

²⁸But I know your sitting down, your going out, your coming in, and your raging against me.

²⁹เพราะเจ้าได้เกรี้ยวกราดต่อเรา และความจองหองของเจ้าได้มาเข้าหูของเรา ฉะนั้น เราจะเอาขอของเราเกี่ยวจมูกเจ้า และบังเหียนของเราใส่ริมฝีปากเจ้า และเราจะหันเจ้ากลับไปตามทางซึ่งเจ้ามานั้น

²⁹Because of your raging against me, and because your arrogance has come up into my ears, therefore will I put my hook in your nose and my bridle in your lips, and I will turn you back by the way by which you came.

³⁰และนี่จะเป็นหมายสำคัญแก่เจ้า คือปีนี้เจ้าจะกินสิ่งที่งอกขึ้นเอง และในปีที่สองสิ่งที่ผลิจากเดิม แล้วในปีที่สาม จงหว่าน และเกี่ยว และปลูกสวนองุ่นและกินผลของมัน

³⁰This shall be the sign to you. You will eat this year that which grows of itself, and in the second year that which springs from the same; and in the third year sow and reap and plant vineyards, and eat their fruit.

³¹ส่วนที่รอดและเหลือแห่งวงศ์วานของยูดาห์จะหยั่งรากลงไป และเกิดผลขึ้นบน

³¹The remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah will again take root downward, and bear fruit upward.

³²เพราะว่าส่วนคนที่เหลือจะออกไปจากเยรูซาเล็ม และส่วนที่รอดมาจะออกมาจากภูเขาศิโยน ความกระตือรือร้นของพระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาจะกระทำการนี้'

³²For out of Jerusalem a remnant will go forth, and survivors will escape from Mount Zion. The zeal of Yahweh of Armies will perform this.’

³³เพราะฉะนั้นพระเยโฮวาห์จึงตรัสเกี่ยวกับกษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรียดังนี้ว่า `ท่านจะไม่เข้าในนครนี้หรือยิงลูกธนูไปที่นั่น หรือถือโล่เข้ามาข้างหน้านคร หรือสร้างเชิงเทินสู้มัน

³³Therefore thus says Yahweh concerning the king of Assyria, ‘He will not come to this city, nor shoot an arrow there, neither will he come before it with shield, nor cast up a mound against it.

³⁴ท่านมาทางใด ท่านจะต้องกลับไปทางนั้น ท่านจะไม่เข้ามาในนครนี้ พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้แหละ

³⁴By the way that he came, by the same he shall return, and he shall not come to this city,’ says Yahweh.

³⁵เพราะเราจะป้องกันนครนี้ไว้เพื่อให้รอด เพื่อเห็นแก่เราเอง และเห็นแก่ดาวิดผู้รับใช้ของเรา'"

³⁵‘For I will defend this city to save it, for my own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.’”

³⁶ทูตสวรรค์ของพระเยโฮวาห์จึงได้ออกไป และได้ประหารคนในค่ายแห่งคนอัสซีเรียเสียหนึ่งแสนแปดหมื่นห้าพันคน และเมื่อคนลุกขึ้นในเวลาเช้ามืด ดูเถิด พวกเหล่านั้นเป็นศพทั้งนั้น

³⁶The angel of Yahweh went out and struck one hundred and eighty-five thousand men in the camp of the Assyrians. When men arose early in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies.

³⁷แล้วเซนนาเคอริบกษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรียก็ได้ยกไปและกลับบ้าน และอยู่ในนีนะเวห์

³⁷So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, went away, returned to Nineveh, and stayed there.

³⁸ต่อมาขณะเมื่อท่านนมัสการในนิเวศของพระนิสโรกพระของท่าน อัดรัมเมเลคและชาเรเซอร์ โอรสของท่าน ก็ประหารท่านเสียด้วยดาบ และหนีไปยังแผ่นดินอาร์มีเนีย และเอสารฮัดโดนโอรสของท่านขึ้นครอบครองแทนท่าน

³⁸It happened, as he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons struck him with the sword; and they escaped into the land of Ararat. Esar Haddon his son reigned in his place.
