¹พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า "โอ อิสราเอลเอ๋ย ถ้าเจ้าจะกลับมา เจ้าจงกลับมาหาเรา ถ้าเจ้ายอมเอาสิ่งที่น่าสะอิดสะเอียนไปให้พ้นสายตาของเราเสีย เจ้าก็จะไม่โลเล

¹“If you will return, Israel,” says Yahweh, “if you will return to me, and if you will put away your abominations out of my sight; then you shall not be removed;

²และถ้าเจ้าปฏิญาณอย่างสัจจริง อย่างยุติธรรม และอย่างชอบธรรมว่า `ตราบใดที่พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงพระชนม์อยู่แน่' แล้วบรรดาประชาชาติจะให้พรกันในพระนามพระองค์ และเขาทั้งหลายจะอวดพระองค์"

²and you shall swear, ‘As Yahweh lives,’ in truth, in justice, and in righteousness. The nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.”

³เพราะว่า พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสกับคนยูดาห์และแก่ชาวเยรูซาเล็มว่า "จงทุบดินที่ไถไว้แล้วนั้น และอย่าหว่านลงกลางหนาม

³For thus says Yahweh to the men of Judah and to Jerusalem, “Break up your fallow ground, and don’t sow among thorns.

⁴ดูก่อน คนยูดาห์และชาวกรุงเยรูซาเล็มเอ๋ย จงเอาตัวรับพิธีเข้าสุหนัตถวายแด่พระเยโฮวาห์ จงตัดหนังปลายหัวใจของเจ้าเสีย เกรงว่าความกริ้วของเราจะพลุ่งออกไปอย่างไฟและเผาไหม้ ไม่มีใครจะดับได้ เหตุด้วยความชั่วแห่งการกระทำทั้งหลายของเจ้า

⁴Circumcise yourselves to Yahweh, and take away the foreskins of your heart, you men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem; lest my wrath go forth like fire, and burn so that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.

⁵จงประกาศในยูดาห์และโฆษณาในกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม ว่า `จงเป่าแตรไปทั่วแผ่นดิน จงรวมกัน จงร้องประกาศดังๆว่า มารวมกันเถิด ให้เราเข้าไปในบรรดาเมืองที่มีป้อม'

⁵Declare in Judah, and publish in Jerusalem; and say, ‘Blow the trumpet in the land!’ Cry aloud and say, ‘Assemble yourselves! Let us go into the fortified cities!’

⁶จงยกธงขึ้นสู่ศิโยน จงรีบหนีไปให้ปลอดภัย อย่ารออยู่ เพราะเราจะนำความร้ายมาจากทิศเหนือ และนำการทำลายใหญ่ยิ่งมา

⁶Set up a standard toward Zion. Flee for safety! Don’t wait; for I will bring evil from the north, and a great destruction.”

⁷สิงโตตัวนั้นได้ออกไปจากพุ่มไม้หนาทึบของมันแล้ว และผู้ทำลายเหล่าประชาชาติกำลังเดินทางมาแล้ว เขาได้ออกไปจากสถานที่ของเขาเพื่อกระทำให้แผ่นดินของเจ้ารกร้างไป หัวเมืองของเจ้าจะถูกทิ้งไว้เสียเปล่าๆปราศจากคนอาศัย

⁷A lion is gone up from his thicket, and a destroyer of nations; he is on his way, he is gone forth from his place, to make your land desolate, that your cities be laid waste, without inhabitant.

⁸ด้วยเหตุนี้ เจ้าจงสวมผ้ากระสอบ จงคร่ำครวญและร้องไห้ เพราะพระพิโรธอันร้อนแรงของพระเยโฮวาห์มิได้หันกลับไปจากเรา"

⁸For this clothe yourself with sackcloth, lament and wail; for the fierce anger of Yahweh hasn’t turned back from us.

⁹พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า "ต่อมาในวันนั้นทั้งกษัตริย์และพวกเจ้านายจะหมดกำลังใจ บรรดาปุโรหิตจะตกตะลึงและผู้พยากรณ์ก็จะอัศจรรย์ใจ"

⁹“It shall happen at that day,” says Yahweh, “that the heart of the king shall perish, and the heart of the princes; and the priests shall be astonished, and the prophets shall wonder.”

¹⁰แล้วข้าพเจ้าจึงทูลว่า "ข้าแต่องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าพระเจ้า พระองค์ทรงล่อลวงชนชาตินี้ และกรุงเยรูซาเล็มแน่นอนทีเดียว ว่า `เจ้าทั้งหลายจะอยู่เย็นเป็นสุข' แต่ที่จริงดาบได้มาถึงชีวิตของเขาทั้งหลาย"

¹⁰Then I said, “Ah, Lord Yahweh! Surely you have greatly deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying, ‘You shall have peace;’ whereas the sword reaches to the heart.”

¹¹"ในครั้งนั้น เขาจะกล่าวแก่ชนชาตินี้ และแก่กรุงเยรูซาเล็มว่า `ลมร้อนจากที่สูงในถิ่นทุรกันดารพัดมาสู่บุตรสาวประชาชนของเรา ไม่ใช่จะมาฝัดหรือมาชำระ

¹¹At that time shall it be said to this people and to Jerusalem, “A hot wind from the bare heights in the wilderness toward the daughter of my people, not to winnow, nor to cleanse;

¹²กระแสลมที่แรงจะพัดมาจากที่เหล่านั้นมาสู่เรา บัดนี้เราจะกล่าวคำตัดสินต่อพวกเขา'

¹²a full wind from these shall come for me. Now I will also utter judgments against them.”

¹³ดูเถิด เขาจะขึ้นมาเหมือนเมฆ รถรบของเขาจะเหมือนลมบ้าหมู ม้าทั้งหลายของเขาเร็วยิ่งกว่านกอินทรี วิบัติแก่เราทั้งหลาย เพราะว่าเราจะต้องพินาศ

¹³Behold, he shall come up as clouds, and his chariots shall be as the whirlwind: his horses are swifter than eagles. Woe to us! For we are ruined.

¹⁴กรุงเยรูซาเล็มเอ๋ย จงล้างจิตใจของเจ้าให้พ้นจากความชั่วร้าย เพื่อเจ้าจะรอดได้ ความคิดชั่วร้ายของเจ้านั้นจะสิงอยู่ในใจของเจ้านานสักเท่าใด

¹⁴Jerusalem, wash your heart from wickedness, that you may be saved. How long shall your evil thoughts lodge within you?

¹⁵เพราะว่ามีเสียงประกาศมาจากเมืองดาน และโฆษณาความชั่วร้ายจากภูเขาเอฟราอิม

¹⁵For a voice declares from Dan, and publishes evil from the hills of Ephraim:

¹⁶จงกล่าวแก่บรรดาประชาชาติ ดูเถิด จงโฆษณาแก่กรุงเยรูซาเล็มว่า บรรดาผู้ล้อมมาจากแผ่นดินไกล เขาทั้งหลายโห่ร้องเข้าใส่หัวเมืองยูดาห์

¹⁶“Tell the nations; behold, publish against Jerusalem, ‘Watchers come from a far country, and raise their voice against the cities of Judah.

¹⁷เขาทั้งหลายล้อมยูดาห์ไว้รอบเหมือนผู้ดูแลเฝ้านา เพราะว่ายูดาห์ได้กบฏต่อเรา" พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้แหละ

¹⁷As keepers of a field, they are against her all around, because she has been rebellious against me,’” says Yahweh.

¹⁸"วิถีและการกระทำทั้งหลายของเจ้าได้นำเรื่องนี้มาเหนือเจ้า นี่แหละเป็นผลแห่งความชั่วร้ายของเจ้า เพราะมันขมขื่น เพราะมันมาถึงจิตใจของเจ้าทีเดียว"

¹⁸“Your way and your doings have brought these things to you. This is your wickedness; for it is bitter, for it reaches to your heart.”

¹⁹แสนระทม แสนระทม ข้าก็บิดตัวด้วยความเจ็บปวด โอ ผนังดวงใจของข้าเอ๋ย จิตใจของข้าก็ว้าวุ่น ข้าจะนิ่งอยู่ไม่ได้ เพราะจิตใจข้าได้ยินเสียงแตร เสียงปลุกของสงคราม

¹⁹My anguish, my anguish! I am pained at my very heart; my heart is disquieted in me; I can’t hold my peace; because you have heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.

²⁰การประกาศเรื่องความหายนะไล่ติดตามความหายนะ แผ่นดินทั้งสิ้นก็ถูกทิ้งร้าง บรรดาเต็นท์ของข้าก็ถูกทำลายในฉับพลัน ม่านทั้งหลายของข้าก็สิ้นไปในบัดเดี๋ยวเดียว

²⁰Destruction on destruction is cried; for the whole land is laid waste: suddenly are my tents destroyed, and my curtains in a moment.

²¹ข้าจะต้องมองดูธงและฟังเสียงแตรนานสักเท่าใด

²¹How long shall I see the standard, and hear the sound of the trumpet?

²²"เพราะประชาชนของเราโง่เขลา เขาทั้งหลายไม่รู้จักเรา เขาทั้งหลายเป็นลูกหลานที่โง่ทึบ เขาทั้งหลายไม่มีความเข้าใจ เขาทั้งหลายทำความชั่วเก่ง แต่เขาไม่เข้าใจที่จะทำดี"

²²“For my people are foolish, they don’t know me. They are foolish children, and they have no understanding. They are skillful in doing evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.”

²³ข้าพเจ้ามองดูพื้นที่โลก และดูเถิด เป็นที่ร้างและว่างเปล่า และมองดูฟ้าสวรรค์ ในนั้นก็ไม่มีความสว่าง

²³I saw the earth, and, behold, it was waste and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.

²⁴ข้าพเจ้ามองดูภูเขา ดูเถิด มันกำลังสั่นอยู่ บรรดาเนินเขาก็แกว่งไปแกว่งมา

²⁴I saw the mountains, and behold, they trembled, and all the hills moved back and forth.

²⁵ข้าพเจ้ามองดู และดูเถิด ไม่มีมนุษย์เลย นกทั้งปวงแห่งท้องอากาศได้หนีไปแล้ว

²⁵I saw, and behold, there was no man, and all the birds of the sky had fled.

²⁶ข้าพเจ้ามองดู และดูเถิด เรือกสวนไร่นาก็เป็นถิ่นทุรกันดาร และหัวเมืองทั้งสิ้นก็สลักหักพังไปต่อพระพักตร์พระเยโฮวาห์ ต่อพระพิโรธอันร้อนแรงของพระองค์

²⁶I saw, and behold, the fruitful field was a wilderness, and all its cities were broken down at the presence of Yahweh, before his fierce anger.

²⁷เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า "แผ่นดินทั้งหมดจะเป็นที่รกร้าง ถึงกระนั้นเราก็ยังมิได้กระทำให้ถึงอวสานเสียทีเดียว

²⁷For thus says Yahweh, “The whole land shall be a desolation; yet will I not make a full end.

²⁸เพราะเรื่องนี้โลกจะไว้ทุกข์ และฟ้าสวรรค์เบื้องบนจะดำมืด เพราะเราได้ลั่นวาจาแล้ว เราได้หมายใจไว้แล้ว เราจะไม่เปลี่ยนใจหรือหันกลับ

²⁸For this the earth will mourn, and the heavens above be black; because I have spoken it, I have purposed it, and I have not repented, neither will I turn back from it.”

²⁹เมื่อได้ยินเสียงพลม้าและนักธนู ชาวเมืองทั้งหมดก็จะหนีไป เขาเข้าไปอยู่ในสุมทุมพุ่มไม้ และปีนป่ายไปท่ามกลางศิลา หัวเมืองทุกแห่งก็ถูกทอดทิ้ง และไม่มีมนุษย์อาศัยอยู่ในเมืองเหล่านั้นเลย

²⁹Every city flees for the noise of the horsemen and archers; they go into the thickets, and climb up on the rocks: every city is forsaken, and not a man dwells therein.

³⁰เจ้าผู้ที่ถูกทิ้งร้างเอ๋ย ที่เจ้าแต่งตัวสีแดงนั้นเจ้าทำอะไรกัน และที่เจ้าประดับตัวด้วยอาภรณ์ทองคำ ที่เจ้าขยายดวงตาให้กว้างด้วยแต้มสี เออ เจ้าแต่งตัวให้งามเสียเปล่า คนรักของเจ้าจะดูหมิ่นเจ้า เขาทั้งหลายจะแสวงชีวิตของเจ้า

³⁰You, when you are made desolate, what will you do? Though you clothe yourself with scarlet, though you deck you with ornaments of gold, though you enlarge your eyes with paint, in vain do you make yourself beautiful; your lovers despise you, they seek your life.

³¹เพราะเราได้ยินเสียงเหมือนเสียงหญิงคลอดบุตรร้องแสนเจ็บปวดอย่างกับจะคลอดบุตรหัวปี เสียงร้องแห่งบุตรสาวศิโยนนั้น แทบจะขาดใจ เหยียดมือของเธอออกร้องว่า `วิบัติแก่ข้า จิตใจข้าอ่อนเปลี้ยอยู่เพราะเหตุผู้ฆ่าคน'"

³¹For I have heard a voice as of a woman in travail, the anguish as of her who brings forth her first child, the voice of the daughter of Zion, who gasps for breath, who spreads her hands, saying, “Woe is me now! For my soul faints before the murderers.”
