¹โอ ประชาชนเบนยามินเอ๋ย จงรวมกันหนีไปจากกลางกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม จงเป่าแตรในเมืองเทโคอา และยกสัญญาณไฟขึ้นไว้บนเบธฮัคเคเรม เพราะเหตุร้ายโผล่ออกมาจากทิศเหนือ คือการทำลายอย่างใหญ่หลวง

¹“Flee for safety, you children of Benjamin, out of the midst of Jerusalem, and blow the trumpet in Tekoa, and raise up a signal on Beth Haccherem; for evil looks forth from the north, and a great destruction.

²เราเปรียบบุตรสาวของศิโยนเสมือนสาวสวยและบอบบาง

²The comely and delicate one, the daughter of Zion, will I cut off.

³ผู้เลี้ยงแกะพร้อมกับฝูงแกะจะมาสู้เธอ เขาจะตั้งเต็นท์ไว้รอบเธอ ต่างก็จะหากินอยู่ในที่ของมัน

³Shepherds with their flocks shall come to her; they shall pitch their tents against her all around; they shall feed everyone in his place.”

⁴"จงเตรียมทำสงครามกับเธอ ลุกขึ้น ให้เราโจมตีเวลาเที่ยงวัน" "วิบัติแก่พวกเรา เพราะว่ากลางวันคล้อยเสียแล้ว เงาของเวลาเย็นก็ยาวออกไป"

⁴“Prepare war against her; arise, and let us go up at noon. Woe to us! For the day declines, for the shadows of the evening are stretched out.

⁵"ลุกขึ้น ให้เราเข้าตีเวลากลางคืน และทำลายบรรดาวังของเธอเสีย"

⁵Arise, and let us go up by night, and let us destroy her palaces.”

⁶เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสดังนี้ว่า "จงโค่นต้นไม้ของเธอลง จงก่อเชิงเทินไว้สู้กรุงเยรูซาเล็ม นี่แหละนครที่ต้องถูกทำโทษ ภายในเธอไม่มีอะไรนอกจากการบีบบังคับ

⁶For Yahweh of Armies said, “Cut down trees, and cast up a mound against Jerusalem: this is the city to be visited; she is wholly oppression in the midst of her.

⁷น้ำพุปล่อยน้ำของมันออกมาฉันใด เธอก็ปล่อยความชั่วของเธอออกมาฉันนั้น ได้ยินถึงความทารุณและการทำลายมีภายในเธอ ความเศร้าโศกและความบาดเจ็บก็ปรากฏต่อเราเสมอ

⁷As a well casts forth its waters, so she casts forth her wickedness: violence and destruction is heard in her; before me continually is sickness and wounds.

⁸กรุงเยรูซาเล็มเอ๋ย จงรับคำสั่งสอนเถิด เกรงว่าจิตใจเราจะพรากจากเจ้าไปเสีย เกรงว่าเราจะกระทำให้เจ้าเป็นที่รกร้าง เป็นแผ่นดินที่ปราศจากคนอาศัย"

⁸Be instructed, Jerusalem, lest my soul be alienated from you; lest I make you a desolation, a land not inhabited.”

⁹พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสดังนี้ว่า "เขาทั้งหลายจะกวาดชนอิสราเอลที่เหลืออยู่นั้นเสียให้เกลี้ยงอย่างเล็มเถาองุ่น เหมือนคนเก็บผลองุ่นเอามือเก็บผลใส่ในตะกร้าอีกคำรบหนึ่ง"

⁹Thus says Yahweh of Armies, “They shall thoroughly glean the remnant of Israel like a vine. Turn again your hand as a grape gatherer into the baskets.”

¹⁰ข้าพเจ้าควรจะพูดและให้คำตักเตือนแก่ผู้ใดดีนะ เพื่อเขาจะได้ยิน ดูเถิด หูของเขาตันเสียแล้ว เขาฟังไม่ได้ ดูเถิด พระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์เป็นสิ่งที่เขาดูหมิ่น เขาไม่พอใจฟัง

¹⁰To whom shall I speak and testify, that they may hear? Behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they can’t listen. Behold, the word of Yahweh has become a reproach to them. They have no delight in it.

¹¹เพราะฉะนั้น ข้าพเจ้าจึงมีพระพิโรธของพระเยโฮวาห์เต็มไปหมด ข้าพเจ้าจะเก็บไว้อีกไม่ไหวแล้ว "เราจะเทออกรดเด็กๆที่ตามถนน และรดพวกหนุ่มๆที่ชุมนุมกันอยู่ด้วย ทั้งสามีและภรรยาก็จะต้องเอาไป ทั้งคนแก่และคนชราด้วย

¹¹Therefore I am full of the wrath of Yahweh. I am weary with holding in. “Pour it out on the children in the street, and on the assembly of young men together; for even the husband with the wife shall be taken, the aged with him who is full of days.

¹²บ้านเรือนของเขาจะต้องยกให้เป็นของคนอื่น ทั้งไร่นาและภรรยาของเขาด้วย เพราะเราจะเหยียดมือของเราออกต่อสู้ชาวแผ่นดิน" พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้แหละ

¹²Their houses shall be turned to others, their fields and their wives together; for I will stretch out my hand on the inhabitants of the land, says Yahweh.”

¹³"เพราะว่า ตั้งแต่คนที่ต่ำต้อยที่สุดจนถึงคนใหญ่โตที่สุด ทุกคนโลภอยากได้กำไร และทุกคนก็กระทำการด้วยความเท็จ ตั้งแต่ผู้พยากรณ์ตลอดถึงปุโรหิต

¹³“For from their least even to their greatest, everyone is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even to the priest, everyone deals falsely.

¹⁴เขาทั้งหลายได้รักษาแผลแห่งบุตรสาวประชาชนของเราแต่เล็กน้อยกล่าวว่า `สันติภาพ สันติภาพ' เมื่อไม่มีสันติภาพเลย

¹⁴They have healed also the hurt of my people superficially, saying, ‘Peace, peace!’ when there is no peace.

¹⁵เขาละอายหรือเมื่อเขากระทำการอันน่าสะอิดสะเอียน เปล่าเลย เขาไม่ละอายเสียเลย เขาหน้าแดงด้วยความละอายไม่เป็นเลย เพราะฉะนั้นเขาจะล้มลงท่ามกลางพวกที่ล้มแล้ว เมื่อถึงเวลาที่เราลงอาญาเขาทั้งหลาย เขาจะล้มคว่ำลง" พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้แหละ

¹⁵Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? No, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush. Therefore they shall fall among those who fall; at the time that I visit them, they shall be cast down,” says Yahweh.

¹⁶พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า "จงยืนที่ถนนและมองให้ดี และถามหาทางโบราณนั้นว่า ทางดีอยู่ที่ไหน แล้วจงเดินในทางนั้น และท่านจะพบที่พักสงบสำหรับจิตใจของท่าน แต่เขาทั้งหลายกล่าวว่า `เราจะไม่เดินในนั้น'

¹⁶Thus says Yahweh, “Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, ‘Where is the good way?’ and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’

¹⁷เราวางยามไว้เหนือเจ้า สั่งว่า `จงฟังเสียงแตร' แต่เขาทั้งหลายกล่าวว่า `เราทั้งหลายจะไม่ยอมฟัง'

¹⁷I set watchmen over you, saying, ‘Listen to the sound of the trumpet!’ But they said, ‘We will not listen!’

¹⁸เพราะฉะนั้น บรรดาประชาชาติเอ๋ย จงฟัง ที่ประชุมเอ๋ย จงทราบเถิดว่า อะไรจะบังเกิดขึ้นแก่เขา

¹⁸Therefore hear, you nations, and know, congregation, what is among them.

¹⁹พิภพเอ๋ย จงฟังเถิด ดูเถิด เราจะนำความร้ายมาเหนือชนชาตินี้ คือผลแห่งความคิดทั้งหลายของเขา เพราะเขามิได้เชื่อฟังถ้อยคำของเรา ส่วนราชบัญญัติของเรานั้น เขาปฏิเสธเสีย

¹⁹Hear, earth! Behold, I will bring evil on this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not listened to my words; and as for my law, they have rejected it.

²⁰มีกำยานมาถึงเราจากเมืองเชบา มีตะไคร้ส่งมาจากเมืองไกล เพื่ออะไรเล่า เครื่องเผาบูชาของเจ้าก็ยังไม่เป็นที่รับได้ หรือเครื่องสักการบูชาของเจ้าก็ไม่เป็นที่พอใจเรา"

²⁰To what purpose comes there to me frankincense from Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far country? your burnt offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices pleasing to me.”

²¹เพราะฉะนั้น พระเยโฮวาห์จึงตรัสดังนี้ว่า "ดูเถิด ต่อหน้าชนชาตินี้ เราจะวางเครื่องสะดุดไว้ให้เขาสะดุด ทั้งบิดาและบุตรชายด้วยกัน ทั้งเพื่อนบ้านและมิตรสหายจะพินาศ"

²¹Therefore thus says Yahweh, “Behold, I will lay stumbling blocks before this people. The fathers and the sons together shall stumble against them. The neighbor and his friend shall perish.”

²²พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า "ดูเถิด ชนชาติหนึ่งกำลังมาจากแดนเหนือ ประชาชาติใหญ่ชาติหนึ่งจะถูกเร้าให้มาจากส่วนที่ไกลที่สุดของพิภพ

²²Thus says Yahweh, “Behold, a people comes from the north country. A great nation shall be stirred up from the uttermost parts of the earth.

²³เขาทั้งหลายจะจับคันธนูและหอก เขาทั้งหลายดุร้ายและไม่มีความสงสาร เสียงของเขาก็เหมือนเสียงทะเลกำเริบ เขาทั้งหลายขี่ม้า และจัดเตรียมกระบวนเหมือนชายที่จะเข้าสงคราม บุตรสาวศิโยนเอ๋ย เขาทั้งหลายมาต่อสู้เจ้า"

²³They take hold of bow and spear. They are cruel, and have no mercy. Their voice roars like the sea, and they ride on horses, everyone set in array, as a man to the battle, against you, daughter of Zion.”

²⁴พวกเราได้ยินกิตติศัพท์พวกนั้น มือของเราก็อ่อนลงอย่างช่วยไม่ได้ ความแสนระทมได้จับเราไว้เป็นความเจ็บเหมือนสตรีกำลังคลอดบุตร

²⁴We have heard its report; our hands become feeble: anguish has taken hold of us, and pains as of a woman in labor.

²⁵อย่าเดินออกไปในทุ่งนา หรือเดินบนถนน เพราะดาบของศัตรูและความสยดสยองอยู่ทุกด้าน

²⁵Don’t go forth into the field, nor walk by the way; for the sword of the enemy and terror, are on every side.

²⁶บุตรสาวแห่งประชาชนของเราเอ๋ย จงเอาผ้ากระสอบคาดเอวไว้ และกลิ้งเกลือกอยู่ในกองเถ้า จงไว้ทุกข์เหมือนเพื่อบุตรชายคนเดียว เป็นการคร่ำครวญอย่างแสนขมขื่นที่สุด เพราะว่าผู้ทำลายมาสู้เราในทันทีทันใด

²⁶Daughter of my people, clothe yourself with sackcloth, and wallow in ashes! Mourn, as for an only son, most bitter lamentation; for the destroyer shall suddenly come on us.

²⁷"เราได้กระทำให้เจ้าเป็นหอคอยและป้อมปราการท่ามกลางประชาชนของเรา เพื่อเจ้าจะทราบและลองพฤติการณ์ทั้งหลายของเขา

²⁷“I have made you a tester of metals and a fortress among my people; that you may know and try their way.

²⁸เขาทั้งหลายมักกบฏอย่างดื้อด้านทั้งสิ้น เที่ยวนินทาเขาไป เขาทั้งหลายเป็นทองสัมฤทธิ์ และเป็นเหล็ก เขาทุกคนประพฤติเลวทรามทั้งนั้น

²⁸They are all grievous rebels, going about with slanders; they are brass and iron: they all of them deal corruptly.

²⁹เครื่องสูบลมของเขาสูบอย่างดุเดือด ตะกั่วก็ถูกไฟเผาผลาญเสีย ถลุงกันเรื่อยไปก็เปล่าประโยชน์ เพราะว่าคนชั่วก็ยังไม่ได้ถูกถอนออกไป

²⁹The bellows blow fiercely; the lead is consumed of the fire: in vain do they go on refining; for the wicked are not plucked away.

³⁰จะเรียกเขาทั้งหลายได้ว่า เป็นขี้เงิน เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงปฏิเสธเขาเสียแล้ว"

³⁰Men will call them rejected silver, because Yahweh has rejected them.”
