¹แล้วโยบตอบว่า

¹Then Job answered,

²"ขอฟังถ้อยคำของข้าอย่างระมัดระวัง และให้คำนี้ปลอบใจท่าน

²“Listen diligently to my speech. Let this be your consolation.

³ขออดทนหน่อยและข้าจะพูด และเมื่อข้าพูดแล้ว ก็เยาะต่อไปเถอะ

³Allow me, and I also will speak; After I have spoken, mock on.

⁴ส่วนข้านี้ จะต่อว่ามนุษย์หรือ ถ้าเป็นเช่นนั้นทำไมใจข้าจึงไม่ควรเป็นทุกข์

⁴As for me, is my complaint to man? Why shouldn’t I be impatient?

⁵มองดูข้าซี และจงตกตะลึงเถิด และท่านจงเอามือปิดปากของท่าน

⁵Look at me, and be astonished. Lay your hand on your mouth.

⁶เมื่อข้าระลึกถึงเรื่องนี้ข้าก็ตระหนกตกใจ และความสั่นสะท้านก็จับเนื้อของข้า

⁶When I remember, I am troubled. Horror takes hold of my flesh.

⁷ทำไมคนชั่วจึงมีชีวิตอยู่ เออ จนถึงแก่ และเจริญมีกำลังมากขึ้น

⁷“Why do the wicked live, become old, yes, and grow mighty in power?

⁸เชื้อสายของเขาก็ตั้งมั่นคงอยู่ในสายตาของเขา และลูกหลานของเขาก็อยู่ต่อหน้าต่อตาเขา

⁸Their child is established with them in their sight, their offspring before their eyes.

⁹เรือนของเขาทั้งหลายก็ปลอดภัยปราศจากความกลัว และไม้เรียวของพระเจ้าก็ไม่อยู่บนเขา

⁹Their houses are safe from fear, neither is the rod of God upon them.

¹⁰วัวผู้ของเขาเกิดพันธุ์ ไม่มีขาด วัวเมียของเขาตกลูก และไม่มีแท้ง

¹⁰Their bulls breed without fail. Their cows calve, and don’t miscarry.

¹¹เขาส่งเด็กๆออกไปอยู่อย่างฝูงแพะแกะ และลูกหลานเล็กของเขาก็เต้นรำ

¹¹They send forth their little ones like a flock. Their children dance.

¹²เขาหยิบเอารำมะนาและพิณเขาคู่ และเปรมปรีดิ์ตามเสียงขลุ่ย

¹²They sing to the tambourine and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the pipe.

¹³ตลอดวันเวลาของเขา เขาก็เจริญ และเขาลงไปที่แดนคนตายในพริบตาเดียว

¹³They spend their days in prosperity. In an instant they go down to Sheol Sheol is the place of the dead. .

¹⁴เขาจึงทูลพระเจ้าว่า `ขอจากเราไปเสีย เพราะเราไม่ปรารถนาความรู้ในทางของท่าน

¹⁴They tell God, ‘Depart from us, for we don’t want to know about your ways.

¹⁵องค์ผู้ทรงมหิทธิฤทธิ์คืออะไร ที่เราจะต้องปรนนิบัติเขา ถ้าเราอธิษฐานต่อเขา เราจะได้ประโยชน์อะไร'

¹⁵What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? What profit should we have, if we pray to him?’

¹⁶ดูเถิด ความจำเริญของเขาทั้งหลายไม่อยู่ในกำมือของเขา คำปรึกษาของคนชั่วอยู่ห่างไกลจากข้า

¹⁶Behold, their prosperity is not in their hand. The counsel of the wicked is far from me.

¹⁷ตะเกียงของคนชั่วดับบ่อยเท่าใด ความยากลำบากมาเหนือเขาบ่อยเท่าใด พระเจ้าทรงแจกจ่ายความเศร้าโศกด้วยพระพิโรธของพระองค์

¹⁷“How often is it that the lamp of the wicked is put out, that their calamity comes on them, that God distributes sorrows in his anger?

¹⁸เขาเป็นเหมือนฟางข้าวหน้าลม และเป็นเหมือนแกลบที่พายุพัดไป

¹⁸How often is it that they are as stubble before the wind, as chaff that the storm carries away?

¹⁹พระเจ้าทรงสะสมความชั่วช้าของเขาไว้ให้ลูกหลานของเขาหรือ พระองค์ทรงตอบแทนแก่เขาเอง และเขาก็จะทราบ

¹⁹You say, ‘God lays up his iniquity for his children.’ Let him recompense it to himself, that he may know it.

²⁰นัยน์ตาของเขาจะเห็นความพินาศของเขา และเขาจะดื่มพระพิโรธขององค์ผู้ทรงมหิทธิฤทธิ์

²⁰Let his own eyes see his destruction. Let him drink of the wrath of the Almighty.

²¹เพราะเขามีความพึงพอใจอะไรในเรื่องวงศ์วานที่ตามเขามา เมื่อจำนวนเดือนของเขาถูกตัดขาดกลางคันเสียแล้ว

²¹For what does he care for his house after him, when the number of his months is cut off?

²²มีผู้ใดจะสอนความรู้ให้แด่พระเจ้าได้หรือ เมื่อพระองค์ทรงพิพากษาเทวชีพ

²²“Shall any teach God knowledge, since he judges those who are high?

²³คนหนึ่งตายเมื่อยังแข็งแรงเต็มที่สบายและปลอดภัยทั้งสิ้น

²³One dies in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet.

²⁴ถังกายของเขาเต็มด้วยน้ำนม และกระดูกของเขาก็ชุ่มด้วยไขกระดูก

²⁴His pails are full of milk. The marrow of his bones is moistened.

²⁵อีกคนหนึ่งตายด้วยใจขมขื่น ไม่เคยได้ชิมของดี

²⁵Another dies in bitterness of soul, and never tastes of good.

²⁶เขาทั้งสองนอนลงในผงคลีดินเหมือนกัน และตัวหนอนก็คลุมเขาทั้งสองไว้

²⁶They lie down alike in the dust. The worm covers them.

²⁷ดูเถิด ข้ารู้ความคิดของท่านและอุบายของท่านที่จะทำผิดต่อข้า

²⁷“Behold, I know your thoughts, the devices with which you would wrong me.

²⁸เพราะท่านว่า `วังของเจ้านายอยู่ที่ไหน เต็นท์ซึ่งคนชั่วอาศัยนั้นอยู่ที่ไหน'

²⁸For you say, ‘Where is the house of the prince? Where is the tent in which the wicked lived?’

²⁹ท่านมิได้ถามนักท่องเที่ยว และท่านไม่ได้รับสักขีพยานของเขาหรือ

²⁹Haven’t you asked wayfaring men? Don’t you know their evidences,

³⁰ว่าคนชั่วได้สงวนไว้จนถึงวันแห่งภัยพิบัติ และเขาจะถูกนำไปยังวันแห่งพระพิโรธ

³⁰that the evil man is reserved to the day of calamity, That they are led forth to the day of wrath?

³¹ใครแจ้งวิธีการของเขาต่อหน้าเขา และผู้ใดสนองเขาในสิ่งที่เขาได้กระทำ

³¹Who shall declare his way to his face? Who shall repay him what he has done?

³²แม้กระนั้นเขาจะถูกหามไปยังหลุมศพ และจะยังอยู่ในอุโมงค์

³²Yet he will be borne to the grave. Men shall keep watch over the tomb.

³³สำหรับเขาก้อนดินที่หุบเขาก็เบาสบาย คนทั้งปวงก็ตามเขาไป และคนที่ไปข้างหน้าก็นับไม่ถ้วน

³³The clods of the valley shall be sweet to him. All men shall draw after him, as there were innumerable before him.

³⁴แล้วทำไมท่านจะมาเล้าโลมใจข้าด้วยสิ่งว่างเปล่า คำตอบของท่านไม่มีอะไรเหลือแล้วนอกจากการมุสา"

³⁴So how can you comfort me with nonsense, because in your answers there remains only falsehood?”
