1แล้วโยบตอบว่า
1Then Job answered,
2"คำร้องทุกข์ของข้าก็ขมขื่นในวันนี้ด้วย การที่ข้าถูกทุบตีก็หนักกว่าการร้องครางของข้า
2“Even today my complaint is rebellious. His hand is heavy in spite of my groaning.
3โอ ข้าอยากทราบว่าจะพบพระองค์ได้ที่ไหน เพื่อข้าจะมาถึงพระที่นั่งของพระองค์
3Oh that I knew where I might find him! That I might come even to his seat!
4ข้าจะยื่นคดีของข้าต่อพระพักตร์พระองค์ และบรรจุข้อโต้แย้งให้เต็มปากข้า
4I would set my cause in order before him, and fill my mouth with arguments.
5ข้าจะทราบคำตอบของพระองค์ และเข้าใจสิ่งที่พระองค์จะตรัสกับข้า
5I would know the words which he would answer me, and understand what he would tell me.
6พระองค์จะทรงโต้แย้งกับข้าด้วยฤทธานุภาพอันยิ่งใหญ่ของพระองค์หรือ เปล่าน่ะ พระองค์จะทรงให้กำลังแก่ข้า
6Would he contend with me in the greatness of his power? No, but he would listen to me.
7ณ ที่นั่นคนเที่ยงธรรมจะสู้ความกับพระองค์ได้ และข้าจะรับการช่วยให้พ้นจากผู้พิพากษาของข้าเป็นนิตย์
7There the upright might reason with him, so I should be delivered forever from my judge.
8ดูเถิด ข้าเดินไปข้างหน้า แต่พระองค์มิได้ทรงสถิตที่นั่น และข้างหลัง แต่ข้าก็ไม่สังเกตเห็นพระองค์
8“If I go east, he is not there; if west, I can’t find him;
9ข้างซ้ายมือที่พระองค์ทรงกระทำกิจ ข้าก็ไม่เห็นพระองค์ ข้างขวามือพระองค์ทรงซ่อนอยู่ ข้าหาพระองค์ไม่พบ
9He works to the north, but I can’t see him. He turns south, but I can’t catch a glimpse of him.
10ด้วยว่าพระองค์ทรงทราบทางที่ข้าไป เมื่อพระองค์ทรงทดสอบข้าแล้ว ข้าก็จะเป็นอย่างทองคำ
10But he knows the way that I take. When he has tried me, I shall come forth like gold.
11เท้าของข้าติดรอยพระบาทของพระองค์แน่น ข้าตามมรรคาของพระองค์ และมิได้หันไปข้างๆเลย
11My foot has held fast to his steps. I have kept his way, and not turned aside.
12ข้ามิได้พรากไปจากพระบัญญัติแห่งริมพระโอษฐ์ของพระองค์ ข้าตีราคาพระวจนะแห่งพระโอษฐ์ของพระองค์สูงกว่าอาหารที่จำเป็นสำหรับข้า
12I haven’t gone back from the commandment of his lips. I have treasured up the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.
13แต่พระองค์ทรงผันแปรมิได้ และผู้ใดจะหันพระองค์ได้ พระองค์มีพระประสงค์สิ่งใด พระองค์ก็ทรงกระทำสิ่งนั้น
13But he stands alone, and who can oppose him? What his soul desires, even that he does.
14เพราะว่าพระองค์จะทรงกระทำสิ่งที่พระองค์ทรงกำหนดให้ข้านั้นครบถ้วน และสิ่งอย่างนั้นเป็นอันมากอยู่ในพระดำริของพระองค์
14For he performs that which is appointed for me. Many such things are with him.
15เพราะฉะนั้นข้าจึงสะทกสะท้านต่อพระพักตร์พระองค์ เมื่อข้าตรึกตรอง ข้าก็ครั่นคร้ามต่อพระองค์
15Therefore I am terrified at his presence. When I consider, I am afraid of him.
16พระเจ้าทรงกระทำให้ใจของข้าอ่อนเปลี้ย องค์ผู้ทรงมหิทธิฤทธิ์ได้กระทำให้ข้าสะทกสะท้าน
16For God has made my heart faint. The Almighty has terrified me.
17เพราะข้ามิได้ถูกตัดขาดก่อนความมืดมาถึง และพระองค์มิได้ทรงปิดบังความมืดทึบไว้จากหน้าข้า"
17Because I was not cut off before the darkness, neither did he cover the thick darkness from my face.
