²Hear this, you elders, And listen, all you inhabitants of the land. Has this ever happened in your days, or in the days of your fathers?

³จงบอกให้ลูกของท่านทราบ และให้ลูกบอกหลาน และให้หลานบอกเหลนอีกชั่วอายุหนึ่ง

³Tell your children about it, and have your children tell their children, and their children, another generation.

⁴สิ่งใดที่ตั๊กแตนวัยเดินกินเหลือ ตั๊กแตนวัยบินก็กินเสีย สิ่งใดที่ตั๊กแตนวัยบินกินเหลือตั๊กแตนวัยกระโดดก็กินเสีย สิ่งใดที่ตั๊กแตนวัยกระโดดกินเหลือตั๊กแตนวัยคลานก็กินเสีย

⁴What the swarming locust has left, the great locust has eaten. What the great locust has left, the grasshopper has eaten. What the grasshopper has left, the caterpillar has eaten.

⁵เจ้าพวกขี้เมาเอ๋ย จงตื่นขึ้นและร้องไห้เถิด นักดื่มเหล้าองุ่นทุกคนเอ๋ย จงโอดครวญเถิด เพราะว่าน้ำองุ่นใหม่ถูกตัดขาดจากปากของเจ้าทั้งหลายแล้ว

⁵Wake up, you drunkards, and weep! Wail, all you drinkers of wine, because of the sweet wine; for it is cut off from your mouth.

⁶For a nation has come up on my land, strong, and without number. His teeth are the teeth of a lion, and he has the fangs of a lioness.

¹¹ชาวนาทั้งหลายเอ๋ย จงอับอายไปเถิด ผู้แต่งเถาองุ่นเอ๋ย จงคร่ำครวญเนื่องด้วยข้าวสาลีและข้าวบารลี เพราะผลของนาก็ถูกทำลายไปหมด

¹¹Be confounded, you farmers! Wail, you vineyard keepers; for the wheat and for the barley; for the harvest of the field has perished.

¹²เถาองุ่นก็เหี่ยว ต้นมะเดื่อก็แห้งไป ต้นทับทิม ต้นอินทผลัม และต้นแอบเปิ้ล ต้นไม้ในนาทั้งสิ้นก็เหี่ยวไป เพราะความยินดีก็เหี่ยวไปจากบุตรทั้งหลายของมนุษย์

¹²The vine has dried up, and the fig tree withered; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all of the trees of the field are withered; for joy has withered away from the sons of men.

¹³ท่านปุโรหิตทั้งหลายเอ๋ย จงคาดเอวและโอดครวญ ท่านผู้ปรนนิบัติที่แท่นบูชา จงคร่ำครวญ ท่านผู้ปรนนิบัติพระเจ้าของข้าพเจ้า จงเข้าไปสวมผ้ากระสอบนอนค้างคืนสักคืนหนึ่ง เพราะว่าธัญญบูชาและเครื่องดื่มบูชาได้ขาดไปเสียจากพระนิเวศแห่งพระเจ้าของท่าน

¹³Put on sackcloth and mourn, you priests! Wail, you ministers of the altar. Come, lie all night in sackcloth, you ministers of my God The Hebrew word rendered “God” is “Elohim.” , for the meal offering and the drink offering are withheld from your God’s house.

¹⁴จงเตรียมตัวถืออดอาหาร จงเรียกประชุมอันศักดิ์สิทธิ์ จงรวบรวมบรรดาผู้ใหญ่และชาวแผ่นดินทั้งสิ้นไปยังพระนิเวศของพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่าน และร้องทูลต่อพระเยโฮวาห์

¹⁴Sanctify a fast. Call a solemn assembly. Gather the elders, and all the inhabitants of the land, to the house of Yahweh, your God, and cry to Yahweh.

¹⁵อนิจจาหนอวันนั้น เพราะวันแห่งพระเยโฮวาห์ใกล้เข้ามาแล้ว วันนั้นจะมาเป็นการทำลายจากองค์ผู้ทรงมหิทธิฤทธิ์

¹⁵Alas for the day! For the day of Yahweh is at hand, and it will come as destruction from the Almighty.

¹⁶อาหารถูกตัดออกจากเบื้องหน้าสายตาของพวกเราแล้ว เออ ความปีติและความยินดีก็ขาดไปจากพระนิเวศแห่งพระเจ้าของเราแล้ว มิใช่หรือ

¹⁶Isn’t the food cut off before our eyes; joy and gladness from the house of our God?

¹⁷เมล็ดพืชก็เน่าอยู่ในดิน ฉางก็รกร้าง ยุ้งก็หักพังลง เพราะว่าข้าวเหี่ยวแห้งไปเสียแล้ว

¹⁷The seeds rot under their clods. The granaries are laid desolate. The barns are broken down, for the grain has withered.

¹⁸สัตว์ทั้งหลายร้องครวญครางแล้วหนอ ฝูงวัวก็งุนงง เพราะว่าไม่มีทุ่งหญ้าให้มัน ฝูงแกะก็อ่อนระอาไป

¹⁸How the animals groan! The herds of livestock are perplexed, because they have no pasture. Yes, the flocks of sheep are made desolate.

¹⁹ข้าแต่พระเยโฮวาห์ ข้าพระองค์ร้องทูลพระองค์ เพราะว่าไฟได้เผาผลาญทุ่งหญ้าแห่งถิ่นทุรกันดาร และเปลวไฟได้ไหม้ต้นไม้ในทุ่งนาเสียหมดแล้ว

¹⁹Yahweh, I cry to you, For the fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame has burned all the trees of the field.

²⁰ถึงแม้ว่าสัตว์ป่าก็ร้องทูลพระองค์ด้วย เพราะว่าน้ำในห้วยแห้งไป และไฟก็เผาผลาญทุ่งหญ้าแห่งถิ่นทุรกันดาร

²⁰Yes, the animals of the field pant to you, for the water brooks have dried up, And the fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness.
