¹ภายหลังเหตุการณ์เหล่านี้พระเยซูก็ได้เสด็จไปในแคว้นกาลิลี ด้วยว่าพระองค์ไม่ประสงค์ที่จะเสด็จไปในแคว้นยูเดีย เพราะพวกยิวหาโอกาสที่จะฆ่าพระองค์

¹After these things, Jesus was walking in Galilee, for he wouldn’t walk in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill him.

²ขณะนั้นใกล้จะถึงเทศกาลอยู่เพิงของพวกยิวแล้ว

²Now the feast of the Jews, the Feast of Booths, was at hand.

³พวกน้องๆของพระองค์จึงทูลพระองค์ว่า "จงออกจากที่นี่ไปยังแคว้นยูเดีย เพื่อเหล่าสาวกของท่านจะได้เห็นกิจการที่ท่านกระทำ

³His brothers therefore said to him, “Depart from here, and go into Judea, that your disciples also may see your works which you do.

⁴เพราะว่าไม่มีผู้ใดทำสิ่งใดลับๆ เมื่อผู้นั้นเองอยากให้ตัวปรากฏ ถ้าท่านกระทำการเหล่านี้ก็จงสำแดงตัวให้ปรากฏแก่โลกเถิด"

⁴For no one does anything in secret, and himself seeks to be known openly. If you do these things, reveal yourself to the world.”

⁵แม้พวกน้องๆของพระองค์ก็มิได้เชื่อในพระองค์

⁵For even his brothers didn’t believe in him.

⁶พระเยซูตรัสกับพวกเขาว่า "ยังไม่ถึงเวลาของเรา แต่เวลาของพวกท่านมีอยู่เสมอ

⁶Jesus therefore said to them, “My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready.

⁷โลกจะเกลียดชังพวกท่านไม่ได้ แต่โลกเกลียดชังเรา เพราะเราเป็นพยานว่าการงานของโลกนั้นชั่ว

⁷ The world can’t hate you, but it hates me, because I testify about it, that its works are evil.

⁸พวกท่านจงขึ้นไปในเทศกาลนั้นเถิด เราจะยังไม่ขึ้นไปในเทศกาลนั้น เพราะว่ายังไม่ถึงกำหนดเวลาของเรา"

⁸ You go up to the feast. I am not yet going up to this feast, because my time is not yet fulfilled.”

⁹เมื่อพระองค์ตรัสเช่นนั้นแก่เขาแล้ว พระองค์ก็ยังประทับอยู่ในแคว้นกาลิลี

⁹Having said these things to them, he stayed in Galilee.

¹⁰แต่เมื่อพวกน้องๆของพระองค์ขึ้นไปในเทศกาลนั้นแล้ว พระองค์ก็เสด็จตามขึ้นไปด้วย แต่ไปอย่างลับๆ ไม่เปิดเผย

¹⁰But when his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not publicly, but as it were in secret.

¹¹พวกยิวจึงมองหาพระองค์ในเทศกาลนั้นและถามว่า "คนนั้นอยู่ที่ไหน"

¹¹The Jews therefore sought him at the feast, and said, “Where is he?”

¹²และประชาชนก็ซุบซิบกันถึงพระองค์เป็นอันมาก บางคนว่า "เขาเป็นคนดี" คนอื่นๆว่า "มิใช่ แต่เขาหลอกลวงประชาชนต่างหาก"

¹²There was much murmuring among the multitudes concerning him. Some said, “He is a good man.” Others said, “Not so, but he leads the multitude astray.”

¹³แต่ไม่มีผู้ใดอาจพูดถึงพระองค์อย่างเปิดเผย เพราะกลัวพวกยิว

¹³Yet no one spoke openly of him for fear of the Jews.

¹⁴ครั้นถึงวันกลางเทศกาลนั้น พระเยซูได้เสด็จขึ้นไปในพระวิหารและทรงสั่งสอน

¹⁴But when it was now the midst of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple and taught.

¹⁵พวกยิวคิดประหลาดใจและพูดว่า "คนนี้จะรู้ข้อความเหล่านี้ได้อย่างไร ในเมื่อไม่เคยเรียนเลย"

¹⁵The Jews therefore marveled, saying, “How does this man know letters, having never been educated?”

¹⁶พระเยซูจึงตรัสตอบเขาว่า "คำสอนของเราไม่ใช่ของเราเอง แต่เป็นของพระองค์ผู้ทรงใช้เรามา

¹⁶Jesus therefore answered them, “My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me.

¹⁷ถ้าผู้ใดตั้งใจประพฤติตามพระประสงค์ของพระองค์ ผู้นั้นก็จะรู้ว่าคำสอนนั้นมาจากพระเจ้า หรือว่าเราพูดตามใจชอบของเราเอง

¹⁷ If anyone desires to do his will, he will know about the teaching, whether it is from God, or if I am speaking from myself.

¹⁸ผู้ใดที่พูดตามใจชอบของตนเอง ผู้นั้นย่อมแสวงเกียรติสำหรับตนเอง แต่ผู้ที่แสวงเกียรติให้พระองค์ผู้ทรงใช้ตนมา ผู้นั้นแหละเป็นคนจริง ไม่มีอธรรมอยู่ในเขาเลย

¹⁸ He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory, but he who seeks the glory of him who sent him is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.

¹⁹โมเสสได้ให้พระราชบัญญัติแก่ท่านทั้งหลายมิใช่หรือ และไม่มีผู้ใดในพวกท่านประพฤติตามพระราชบัญญัตินั้น ท่านทั้งหลายหาโอกาสที่จะฆ่าเราทำไม"

¹⁹ Didn’t Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keeps the law? Why do you seek to kill me?”

²⁰คนเหล่านั้นตอบว่า "ท่านมีผีสิงอยู่ ใครเล่าหาโอกาสจะฆ่าท่าน"

²⁰The multitude answered, “You have a demon! Who seeks to kill you?”

²¹พระเยซูตรัสตอบเขาว่า "เราได้ทำสิ่งหนึ่งและท่านทั้งหลายประหลาดใจ

²¹Jesus answered them, “I did one work, and you all marvel because of it.

²²โมเสสได้ให้ท่านทั้งหลายเข้าสุหนัต (มิใช่ได้มาจากโมเสส แต่มาจากบรรพบุรุษ) และในวันสะบาโตท่านทั้งหลายก็ยังให้คนเข้าสุหนัต

²² Moses has given you circumcision (not that it is of Moses, but of the fathers), and on the Sabbath you circumcise a boy.

²³ถ้าในวันสะบาโตคนยังเข้าสุหนัต เพื่อมิให้ละเมิดพระราชบัญญัติของโมเสสแล้ว ท่านทั้งหลายจะโกรธเรา เพราะเราทำให้ชายผู้หนึ่งหายโรคเป็นปกติในวันสะบาโตหรือ

²³ If a boy receives circumcision on the Sabbath, that the law of Moses may not be broken, are you angry with me, because I made a man completely healthy on the Sabbath?

²⁴อย่าตัดสินตามที่เห็นภายนอก แต่จงตัดสินตามชอบธรรมเถิด"

²⁴ Don’t judge according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment.”

²⁵เพราะฉะนั้นชาวกรุงเยรูซาเล็มบางคนจึงพูดว่า "คนนี้มิใช่หรือที่เขาหาโอกาสจะฆ่าเสีย

²⁵Therefore some of them of Jerusalem said, “Isn’t this he whom they seek to kill?

²⁶แต่ดูเถิด ท่านกำลังพูดอย่างกล้าหาญและเขาทั้งหลายก็ไม่ได้ว่าอะไรท่านเลย พวกขุนนางรู้แน่แล้วหรือว่า คนนี้เป็นพระคริสต์แท้

²⁶Behold, he speaks openly, and they say nothing to him. Can it be that the rulers indeed know that this is truly the Christ?

²⁷แต่เรารู้ว่าคนนี้มาจากไหน แต่เมื่อพระคริสต์เสด็จมานั้น จะไม่มีผู้ใดรู้เลยว่า พระองค์มาจากไหน"

²⁷However we know where this man comes from, but when the Christ comes, no one will know where he comes from.”

²⁸ดังนั้นพระเยซูจึงทรงประกาศขณะที่ทรงสั่งสอนอยู่ในพระวิหารว่า "ท่านทั้งหลายรู้จักเรา และรู้ว่าเรามาจากไหน แต่เรามิได้มาตามลำพังเราเอง แต่พระองค์ผู้ทรงใช้เรามานั้นทรงสัตย์จริง แต่ท่านทั้งหลายไม่รู้จักพระองค์

²⁸Jesus therefore cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, “You both know me, and know where I am from. I have not come of myself, but he who sent me is true, whom you don’t know.

²⁹แต่เรารู้จักพระองค์เพราะเรามาจากพระองค์และพระองค์ได้ทรงใช้เรามา"

²⁹ I know him, because I am from him, and he sent me.”

³⁰เขาทั้งหลายจึงหาโอกาสที่จะจับพระองค์ แต่ไม่มีผู้ใดยื่นมือแตะต้องพระองค์ เพราะยังไม่ถึงกำหนดเวลาของพระองค์

³⁰They sought therefore to take him; but no one laid a hand on him, because his hour had not yet come.

³¹และมีหลายคนในหมู่ประชาชนนั้นได้เชื่อในพระองค์และพูดว่า "เมื่อพระคริสต์เสด็จมานั้น พระองค์จะทรงกระทำอัศจรรย์มากยิ่งกว่าที่ผู้นี้ได้กระทำหรือ"

³¹But of the multitude, many believed in him. They said, “When the Christ comes, he won’t do more signs than those which this man has done, will he?”

³²เมื่อพวกฟาริสีได้ยินประชาชนซุบซิบกันเรื่องพระองค์อย่างนั้น พวกฟาริสีกับพวกปุโรหิตใหญ่จึงได้ใช้เจ้าหน้าที่ไปจับพระองค์

³²The Pharisees heard the multitude murmuring these things concerning him, and the chief priests and the Pharisees sent officers to arrest him.

³³พระเยซูจึงตรัสกับเขาทั้งหลายว่า "เราจะอยู่กับท่านทั้งหลายอีกหน่อยหนึ่ง แล้วจะกลับไปหาพระองค์ผู้ทรงใช้เรามา

³³Then Jesus said, “I will be with you a little while longer, then I go to him who sent me.

³⁴ท่านทั้งหลายจะแสวงหาเราแต่จะไม่พบเรา และที่ซึ่งเราอยู่นั้นท่านจะไปไม่ได้"

³⁴ You will seek me, and won’t find me; and where I am, you can’t come.”

³⁵พวกยิวจึงพูดกันว่า "คนนี้จะไปไหน ที่เราจะหาเขาไม่พบ เขาจะไปหาคนที่กระจัดกระจายไปอยู่ในหมู่พวกต่างชาติและสั่งสอนพวกต่างชาติหรือ

³⁵The Jews therefore said among themselves, “Where will this man go that we won’t find him? Will he go to the Dispersion among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks?

³⁶เขาหมายความว่าอย่างไรที่พูดว่า `ท่านทั้งหลายจะแสวงหาเราแต่จะไม่พบเรา' และ `ที่ซึ่งเราอยู่นั้นท่านจะไปไม่ได้'"

³⁶What is this word that he said, ‘You will seek me, and won’t find me; and where I am, you can’t come’? ”

³⁷ในวันที่สุดท้ายของเทศกาลซึ่งเป็นวันใหญ่นั้น พระเยซูทรงยืนและประกาศว่า "ถ้าผู้ใดกระหาย ผู้นั้นจงมาหาเราและดื่ม

³⁷Now on the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink!

³⁸ผู้ที่เชื่อในเรา ตามที่พระคัมภีร์ได้กล่าวไว้แล้วว่า `แม่น้ำที่มีน้ำประกอบด้วยชีวิตจะไหลออกมาจากภายในผู้นั้น'"

³⁸ He who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, from within him will flow rivers of living water.”

³⁹(สิ่งที่พระองค์ตรัสนั้นหมายถึงพระวิญญาณซึ่งผู้ที่เชื่อในพระองค์จะได้รับ เหตุว่ายังไม่ได้ประทานพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์ให้ เพราะพระเยซูยังมิได้รับสง่าราศี)

³⁹But he said this about the Spirit, which those believing in him were to receive. For the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus wasn’t yet glorified.

⁴⁰เมื่อประชาชนได้ฟังดังนั้น หลายคนจึงพูดว่า "แท้จริง ท่านผู้นี้เป็นศาสดาพยากรณ์นั้น"

⁴⁰Many of the multitude therefore, when they heard these words, said, “This is truly the prophet.”

⁴¹คนอื่นๆก็พูดว่า "ท่านผู้นี้เป็นพระคริสต์" แต่บางคนพูดว่า "พระคริสต์จะมาจากกาลิลีหรือ

⁴¹Others said, “This is the Christ.” But some said, “What, does the Christ come out of Galilee?

⁴²พระคัมภีร์กล่าวไว้มิใช่หรือว่า พระคริสต์จะมาจากเชื้อสายของดาวิด และมาจากหมู่บ้านเบธเลเฮ็มซึ่งดาวิดเคยอยู่นั้น"

⁴²Hasn’t the Scripture said that the Christ comes of the seed of David, 2 Samuel 7:12 and from Bethlehem, Micah 5:2 the village where David was?”

⁴³เหตุฉะนั้นประชาชนจึงมีความเห็นแตกแยกกันในเรื่องพระองค์

⁴³So there arose a division in the multitude because of him.

⁴⁴บางคนใคร่จะจับพระองค์ แต่ไม่มีผู้ใดยื่นมือแตะต้องพระองค์เลย

⁴⁴Some of them would have arrested him, but no one laid hands on him.

⁴⁵เจ้าหน้าที่จึงกลับไปหาพวกปุโรหิตใหญ่และพวกฟาริสี และพวกนั้นกล่าวกับเจ้าหน้าที่ว่า "ทำไมเจ้าจึงไม่จับเขามา"

⁴⁵The officers therefore came to the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, “Why didn’t you bring him?”

⁴⁶เจ้าหน้าที่ตอบว่า "ไม่เคยมีผู้ใดพูดเหมือนคนนั้นเลย"

⁴⁶The officers answered, “No man ever spoke like this man!”

⁴⁷พวกฟาริสีตอบเขาว่า "พวกเจ้าถูกหลอกไปด้วยแล้วหรือ

⁴⁷The Pharisees therefore answered them, “You aren’t also led astray, are you?

⁴⁸มีผู้ใดในพวกขุนนางหรือพวกฟาริสีเชื่อในผู้นั้นหรือ

⁴⁸Have any of the rulers believed in him, or of the Pharisees?

⁴⁹แต่ประชาชนหมู่นี้ที่ไม่รู้พระราชบัญญัติก็ต้องถูกสาปแช่งอยู่แล้ว"

⁴⁹But this multitude that doesn’t know the law is accursed.”

⁵⁰นิโคเดมัส (ผู้ที่ได้มาหาพระเยซูในเวลากลางคืนนั้น และเป็นคนหนึ่งในพวกเขา) ได้กล่าวแก่พวกเขาว่า

⁵⁰Nicodemus (he who came to him by night, being one of them) said to them,

⁵¹"พระราชบัญญัติของเราตัดสินคนใดโดยที่ยังไม่ได้ฟังเขาก่อน และรู้ว่าเขาได้ทำอะไรบ้างหรือ"

⁵¹“Does our law judge a man, unless it first hears from him personally and knows what he does?”

⁵²เขาทั้งหลายตอบนิโคเดมัสว่า "ท่านมาจากกาลิลีด้วยหรือ จงค้นหาดูเถิด เพราะว่าไม่มีศาสดาพยากรณ์เกิดขึ้นมาจากกาลิลี"

⁵²They answered him, “Are you also from Galilee? Search, and see that no prophet has arisen out of Galilee. See Isaiah 9:1 and Matthew 4:13-16. ”

⁵³Everyone went to his own house,
