¹เมื่อพระเยซูเสด็จดำเนินไปนั้น พระองค์ทอดพระเนตรเห็นชายคนหนึ่งตาบอดแต่กำเนิด

¹As he passed by, he saw a man blind from birth.

²และพวกสาวกของพระองค์ทูลถามพระองค์ว่า "พระอาจารย์เจ้าข้า ใครได้ทำผิดบาป ชายคนนี้หรือบิดามารดาของเขา เขาจึงเกิดมาตาบอด"

²His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”

³พระเยซูตรัสตอบว่า "มิใช่ชายคนนี้หรือบิดามารดาของเขาได้ทำบาป แต่เพื่อให้พระราชกิจของพระเจ้าปรากฏในตัวเขา

³Jesus answered, “Neither did this man sin, nor his parents; but, that the works of God might be revealed in him.

⁴เราต้องกระทำพระราชกิจของพระองค์ผู้ทรงใช้เรามาเมื่อยังวันอยู่ เมื่อถึงกลางคืนไม่มีผู้ใดทำงานได้

⁴ I must work the works of him who sent me, while it is day. The night is coming, when no one can work.

⁵ตราบใดที่เรายังอยู่ในโลก เราเป็นความสว่างของโลก"

⁵ While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

⁶เมื่อตรัสดังนั้นแล้ว พระองค์ก็ทรงบ้วนน้ำลายลงที่ดิน แล้วทรงเอาน้ำลายนั้นทำเป็นโคลนทาที่ตาของคนตาบอดนั้น

⁶When he had said this, he spat on the ground, made mud with the saliva, anointed the blind man’s eyes with the mud,

⁷แล้วตรัสสั่งเขาว่า "จงไป ล้างออกเสียในสระสิโลอัมเถิด" (สิโลอัมแปลว่า ใช้ไป) เขาจึงไปล้างแล้วกลับเห็นได้

⁷and said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which means “Sent”). So he went away, washed, and came back seeing.

⁸เพื่อนบ้านและคนทั้งหลายที่เคยเห็นชายคนนั้นเป็นคนตาบอดมาก่อน จึงพูดกันว่า "คนนี้มิใช่หรือที่เคยนั่งขอทาน"

⁸The neighbors therefore, and those who saw that he was blind before, said, “Isn’t this he who sat and begged?”

⁹บางคนก็พูดว่า "คนนั้นแหละ" คนอื่นว่า "เขาคล้ายคนนั้น" แต่เขาเองพูดว่า "ข้าพเจ้าคือคนนั้น"

⁹Others were saying, “It is he.” Still others were saying, “He looks like him.” He said, “I am he.”

¹⁰เขาทั้งหลายจึงถามเขาว่า "ตาของเจ้าหายบอดได้อย่างไร"

¹⁰They therefore were asking him, “How were your eyes opened?”

¹¹เขาตอบว่า "ชายคนหนึ่งชื่อเยซู ได้ทำโคลนทาตาของข้าพเจ้า และบอกข้าพเจ้าว่า `จงไปที่สระสิโลอัมแล้วล้างออกเสีย' ข้าพเจ้าก็ได้ไปล้างตาจึงมองเห็นได้"

¹¹He answered, “A man called Jesus made mud, anointed my eyes, and said to me, ‘Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash.’ So I went away and washed, and I received sight.”

¹²เขาทั้งหลายจึงถามเขาว่า "ผู้นั้นอยู่ที่ไหน" คนนั้นบอกว่า "ข้าพเจ้าไม่ทราบ"

¹²Then they asked him, “Where is he?” He said, “I don’t know.”

¹³เขาจึงพาคนที่แต่ก่อนตาบอดนั้นไปหาพวกฟาริสี

¹³They brought him who had been blind to the Pharisees.

¹⁴วันที่พระเยซูทรงทำโคลนทาตาชายคนนั้นให้หายบอดเป็นวันสะบาโต

¹⁴It was a Sabbath when Jesus made the mud and opened his eyes.

¹⁵พวกฟาริสีก็ได้ถามเขาอีกว่า ทำอย่างไรตาเขาจึงมองเห็น เขาบอกคนเหล่านั้นว่า "เขาเอาโคลนทาตาของข้าพเจ้า และข้าพเจ้าก็ล้างออกแล้วจึงมองเห็น"

¹⁵Again therefore the Pharisees also asked him how he received his sight. He said to them, “He put mud on my eyes, I washed, and I see.”

¹⁶ฉะนั้นพวกฟาริสีบางคนพูดว่า "ชายคนนี้ไม่ได้มาจากพระเจ้าเพราะเขามิได้รักษาวันสะบาโต" คนอื่นว่า "คนบาปจะทำการอัศจรรย์เช่นนั้นได้อย่างไร" พวกเขาก็แตกแยกกัน

¹⁶Some therefore of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God, because he doesn’t keep the Sabbath.” Others said, “How can a man who is a sinner do such signs?” There was division among them.

¹⁷เขาจึงพูดกับคนตาบอดอีกว่า "เจ้าคิดอย่างไรเรื่องคนนั้น ในเมื่อเขาได้ทำให้ตาของเจ้าหายบอด" ชายคนนั้นตอบว่า "ท่านเป็นศาสดาพยากรณ์"

¹⁷Therefore they asked the blind man again, “What do you say about him, because he opened your eyes?” He said, “He is a prophet.”

¹⁸แต่พวกยิวไม่เชื่อเรื่องเกี่ยวกับชายคนนั้นว่า เขาตาบอดและกลับมองเห็น จนกระทั่งเขาได้เรียกบิดามารดาของคนที่ตากลับมองเห็นได้นั้นมา

¹⁸The Jews therefore did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and had received his sight, until they called the parents of him who had received his sight,

¹⁹แล้วพวกเขาถามเขาทั้งสองว่า "ชายคนนี้เป็นบุตรชายของเจ้าหรือที่เจ้าบอกว่าตาบอดมาแต่กำเนิด ทำไมเดี๋ยวนี้เขาจึงมองเห็น"

¹⁹and asked them, “Is this your son, whom you say was born blind? How then does he now see?”

²⁰บิดามารดาของชายคนนั้นตอบเขาว่า "เราทราบว่าคนนี้เป็นบุตรชายของเรา และทราบว่าเขาเกิดมาตาบอด

²⁰His parents answered them, “We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind;

²¹แต่ไม่รู้ว่าทำไมเดี๋ยวนี้เขาจึงมองเห็น หรือใครทำให้ตาของเขาหายบอด เราก็ไม่ทราบ จงถามเขาเถิด เขาโตแล้ว เขาจะเล่าเรื่องของเขาเองได้"

²¹but how he now sees, we don’t know; or who opened his eyes, we don’t know. He is of age. Ask him. He will speak for himself.”

²²ที่บิดามารดาของเขาพูดอย่างนั้นก็เพราะกลัวพวกยิว เพราะพวกยิวตกลงกันแล้วว่า ถ้าผู้ใดยอมรับว่าผู้นั้นเป็นพระคริสต์ จะต้องไล่ผู้นั้นเสียจากธรรมศาลา

²²His parents said these things because they feared the Jews; for the Jews had already agreed that if any man would confess him as Christ, he would be put out of the synagogue.

²³เหตุฉะนั้นบิดามารดาของเขาจึงพูดว่า "จงถามเขาเถิด เขาโตแล้ว"

²³Therefore his parents said, “He is of age. Ask him.”

²⁴คนเหล่านั้นจึงเรียกคนที่แต่ก่อนตาบอดนั้นมาอีกและบอกเขาว่า "จงสรรเสริญพระเจ้าเถิด เรารู้อยู่ว่าชายคนนั้นเป็นคนบาป"

²⁴So they called the man who was blind a second time, and said to him, “Give glory to God. We know that this man is a sinner.”

²⁵เขาตอบว่า "ท่านนั้นเป็นคนบาปหรือไม่ข้าพเจ้าไม่ทราบ สิ่งเดียวที่ข้าพเจ้าทราบก็คือว่า ข้าพเจ้าเคยตาบอด แต่เดี๋ยวนี้ข้าพเจ้ามองเห็นได้"

²⁵He therefore answered, “I don’t know if he is a sinner. One thing I do know: that though I was blind, now I see.”

²⁶คนเหล่านั้นจึงถามเขาอีกว่า "เขาทำอะไรกับเจ้าบ้าง เขาทำอย่างไรตาของเจ้าจึงหายบอด"

²⁶They said to him again, “What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?”

²⁷ชายคนนั้นตอบเขาว่า "ข้าพเจ้าบอกท่านแล้ว และท่านไม่ฟัง ทำไมท่านจึงอยากฟังอีก ท่านอยากเป็นสาวกของท่านผู้นั้นด้วยหรือ"

²⁷He answered them, “I told you already, and you didn’t listen. Why do you want to hear it again? You don’t also want to become his disciples, do you?”

²⁸เขาทั้งหลายจึงเย้ยชายคนนั้นว่า "แกเป็นศิษย์ของเขา แต่เราเป็นศิษย์ของโมเสส

²⁸They insulted him and said, “You are his disciple, but we are disciples of Moses.

²⁹เรารู้ว่าพระเจ้าได้ตรัสกับโมเสส แต่คนนั้นเราไม่รู้ว่าเขามาจากไหน"

²⁹We know that God has spoken to Moses. But as for this man, we don’t know where he comes from.”

³⁰ชายคนนั้นตอบเขาว่า "เออ ช่างประหลาดจริงๆที่พวกท่านไม่รู้ว่าท่านผู้นั้นมาจากไหน แต่ท่านผู้นั้นยังได้ทำให้ตาของข้าพเจ้าหายบอด

³⁰The man answered them, “How amazing! You don’t know where he comes from, yet he opened my eyes.

³¹พวกเรารู้ว่าพระเจ้ามิได้ฟังคนบาป แต่ถ้าผู้ใดนมัสการพระเจ้า และกระทำตามพระทัยพระองค์ พระองค์ก็ทรงฟังผู้นั้น

³¹We know that God doesn’t listen to sinners, but if anyone is a worshipper of God, and does his will, he listens to him. Psalm 66:18, Proverbs 15:29; 28:9

³²ตั้งแต่เริ่มมีโลกมาแล้ว ไม่เคยมีใครได้ยินว่า มีผู้ใดทำให้ตาของคนที่บอดแต่กำเนิดมองเห็นได้

³²Since the world began it has never been heard of that anyone opened the eyes of someone born blind.

³³ถ้าท่านผู้นั้นไม่ได้มาจากพระเจ้าแล้ว ก็จะทำอะไรไม่ได้"

³³If this man were not from God, he could do nothing.”

³⁴เขาทั้งหลายตอบคนนั้นว่า "แกเกิดมาในการบาปทั้งนั้น และแกจะมาสอนเราหรือ" แล้วเขาจึงไล่คนนั้นเสีย

³⁴They answered him, “You were altogether born in sins, and do you teach us?” They threw him out.

³⁵พระเยซูทรงได้ยินว่าเขาได้ไล่คนนั้นเสียแล้ว และเมื่อพระองค์ทรงพบชายคนนั้นจึงตรัสกับเขาว่า "เจ้าเชื่อในพระบุตรของพระเจ้าหรือ"

³⁵Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and finding him, he said, “Do you believe in the Son of God?”

³⁶ชายคนนั้นทูลตอบว่า "ท่านเจ้าข้า ผู้ใดเป็นพระบุตรนั้น ซึ่งข้าพเจ้าจะเชื่อในพระองค์ได้"

³⁶He answered, “Who is he, Lord, that I may believe in him?”

³⁷พระเยซูตรัสกับเขาว่า "เจ้าได้เห็นท่านแล้ว ทั้งเป็นผู้นั้นเองที่กำลังพูดอยู่กับเจ้า"

³⁷Jesus said to him, “You have both seen him, and it is he who speaks with you.”

³⁸เขาจึงทูลว่า "พระองค์เจ้าข้า ข้าพระองค์เชื่อ" แล้วเขาก็นมัสการพระองค์

³⁸He said, “Lord, I believe!” and he worshiped him.

³⁹พระเยซูตรัสว่า "เราเข้ามาในโลกเพื่อแก่การพิพากษา เพื่อให้คนทั้งหลายที่มองไม่เห็นกลับมองเห็น และคนที่มองเห็นกลับตาบอด"

³⁹Jesus said, “I came into this world for judgment, that those who don’t see may see; and that those who see may become blind.”

⁴⁰เมื่อพวกฟาริสีบางคนที่อยู่กับพระองค์ได้ยินอย่างนั้น จึงกล่าวแก่พระองค์ว่า "เราตาบอดด้วยหรือ"

⁴⁰Those of the Pharisees who were with him heard these things, and said to him, “Are we also blind?”

⁴¹พระเยซูตรัสกับเขาว่า "ถ้าพวกท่านตาบอด พวกท่านก็จะไม่มีความผิดบาป แต่บัดนี้ท่านพูดว่า `เรามองเห็น' เหตุฉะนั้นความผิดบาปของท่านจึงยังมีอยู่"

⁴¹Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say, ‘We see.’ Therefore your sin remains.
