¹"เมื่อถึงวันนั้น อาณาจักรแห่งสวรรค์จะเปรียบเหมือนหญิงพรหมจารีสิบคนถือตะเกียงของตนออกไปรับเจ้าบ่าว

¹ “Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten virgins, who took their lamps, and went out to meet the bridegroom.

²เป็นคนโง่ห้าคน เป็นหญิงมีปัญญาห้าคน

² Five of them were foolish, and five were wise.

³ฝ่ายคนโง่นั้นเอาตะเกียงของตนไป แต่หาได้เอาน้ำมันไปด้วยไม่

³ Those who were foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them,

⁴คนที่มีปัญญานั้นได้เอาน้ำมันใส่กาไปกับตะเกียงของตนด้วย

⁴ but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

⁵เมื่อเจ้าบ่าวยังช้าอยู่ พวกหญิงก็พากันง่วงเหงาและหลับไป

⁵ Now while the bridegroom delayed, they all slumbered and slept.

⁶ครั้นเวลาเที่ยงคืนก็มีเสียงร้องมาว่า `ดูเถิด เจ้าบ่าวมาแล้ว จงออกมารับท่านเถิด'

⁶ But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Behold! The bridegroom is coming! Come out to meet him!’

⁷พวกหญิงพรหมจารีเหล่านั้นก็ลุกขึ้นตกแต่งตะเกียงของตน

⁷ Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. The end of the wick of an oil lamp needs to be cut off periodically to avoid having it become clogged with carbon deposits. The wick height is also adjusted so that the flame burns evenly and gives good light without producing a lot of smoke.

⁸พวกที่โง่นั้นก็พูดกับพวกที่มีปัญญาว่า `ขอแบ่งน้ำมันของท่านให้เราบ้าง เพราะตะเกียงของเราดับอยู่'

⁸ The foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’

⁹พวกที่มีปัญญาจึงตอบว่า `ทำอย่างนั้นไม่ได้ น่ากลัวน้ำมันจะไม่พอสำหรับเราและเจ้า จงไปหาคนขาย ซื้อสำหรับตัวเองจะดีกว่า'

⁹ But the wise answered, saying, ‘What if there isn’t enough for us and you? You go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’

¹⁰เมื่อเขากำลังไปซื้อนั้นเจ้าบ่าวก็มาถึง ผู้ที่พร้อมอยู่แล้วก็ได้ไปกับท่านในการเลี้ยงเนื่องในงานสมรส แล้วประตูก็ปิด

¹⁰ While they went away to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut.

¹¹ภายหลังหญิงพรหมจารีอีกห้าคนก็มาร้องว่า `ท่านเจ้าข้าๆ ขอเปิดให้ข้าพเจ้าเข้าไปด้วย'

¹¹ Afterward the other virgins also came, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us.’

¹²ฝ่ายท่านตอบว่า `เราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านทั้งหลายว่า เราไม่รู้จักท่าน'

¹² But he answered, ‘Most certainly I tell you, I don’t know you.’

¹³เหตุฉะนั้นจงเฝ้าระวังอยู่ เพราะท่านทั้งหลายไม่รู้กำหนดวันหรือโมงนั้นที่บุตรมนุษย์จะเสด็จมา

¹³ Watch therefore, for you don’t know the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.

¹⁴อาณาจักรแห่งสวรรค์ยังเปรียบเหมือนชายผู้หนึ่งจะออกเดินทางไปยังเมืองไกล จึงเรียกพวกผู้รับใช้ของตนมา และฝากทรัพย์สมบัติของเขาไว้

¹⁴ “For it is like a man, going into another country, who called his own servants, and entrusted his goods to them.

¹⁵คนหนึ่งท่านให้ห้าตะลันต์ คนหนึ่งสองตะลันต์ และอีกคนหนึ่งตะลันต์เดียว ตามความสามารถของแต่ละคน แล้วท่านก็ไปทันที

¹⁵ To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one; to each according to his own ability. Then he went on his journey.

¹⁶คนที่ได้รับห้าตะลันต์นั้นก็เอาเงินนั้นไปค้าขาย ได้กำไรมาอีกห้าตะลันต์

¹⁶ Immediately he who received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents.

¹⁷คนที่ได้รับสองตะลันต์นั้นก็ได้กำไรอีกสองตะลันต์เหมือนกัน

¹⁷ In the same way, he also who got the two gained another two.

¹⁸แต่คนที่ได้รับตะลันต์เดียวได้ขุดหลุมซ่อนเงินของนายไว้

¹⁸ But he who received the one went away and dug in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.

¹⁹ครั้นอยู่มาช้านาน นายจึงมาคิดบัญชีกับผู้รับใช้เหล่านั้น

¹⁹ “Now after a long time the lord of those servants came, and reconciled accounts with them.

²⁰คนที่ได้รับห้าตะลันต์ก็เอาเงินกำไรอีกห้าตะลันต์มาชี้แจงว่า `นายเจ้าข้า ท่านได้มอบเงินห้าตะลันต์ไว้กับข้าพเจ้า ดูเถิด ข้าพเจ้าได้กำไรมาอีกห้าตะลันต์'

²⁰ He who received the five talents came and brought another five talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents. Behold, I have gained another five talents besides them.’

²¹นายจึงตอบเขาว่า `ดีแล้ว เจ้าเป็นผู้รับใช้ดีและสัตย์ซื่อ เจ้าสัตย์ซื่อในของเล็กน้อย เราจะตั้งเจ้าให้ดูแลของมาก เจ้าจงปรีดีร่วมสุขกับนายของเจ้าเถิด'

²¹ “His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’

²²คนที่ได้รับสองตะลันต์มาชี้แจงด้วยว่า `นายเจ้าข้า ท่านได้มอบเงินสองตะลันต์ไว้กับข้าพเจ้า ดูเถิด ข้าพเจ้าได้กำไรมาอีกสองตะลันต์'

²² “He also who got the two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents. Behold, I have gained another two talents besides them.’

²³นายจึงตอบเขาว่า `ดีแล้ว เจ้าเป็นผู้รับใช้ดีและสัตย์ซื่อ เจ้าสัตย์ซื่อในของเล็กน้อย เราจะตั้งเจ้าให้ดูแลของมาก เจ้าจงปรีดีร่วมสุขกับนายของเจ้าเถิด'

²³ “His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’

²⁴ฝ่ายคนที่ได้รับตะลันต์เดียวมาชี้แจงด้วยว่า `นายเจ้าข้า ข้าพเจ้ารู้อยู่ว่าท่านเป็นคนใจแข็ง เกี่ยวผลที่ท่านมิได้หว่าน เก็บส่ำสมที่ท่านมิได้โปรย

²⁴ “He also who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you that you are a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not scatter.

²⁵ข้าพเจ้ากลัวจึงเอาเงินตะลันต์ของท่านไปซ่อนไว้ใต้ดิน ดูเถิด นี่แหละเงินของท่าน'

²⁵ I was afraid, and went away and hid your talent in the earth. Behold, you have what is yours.’

²⁶นายจึงตอบเขาว่า `เจ้าผู้รับใช้ชั่วช้าและเกียจคร้าน เจ้าก็รู้อยู่ว่าเราเกี่ยวที่เรามิได้หว่าน เก็บส่ำสมที่เรามิได้โปรย

²⁶ “But his lord answered him, ‘You wicked and slothful servant. You knew that I reap where I didn’t sow, and gather where I didn’t scatter.

²⁷เหตุฉะนั้น เจ้าควรเอาเงินของเราไปฝากไว้ที่ธนาคาร เมื่อเรามาจะได้รับเงินของเราทั้งดอกเบี้ยด้วย

²⁷ You ought therefore to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received back my own with interest.

²⁸เพราะฉะนั้น จงเอาเงินตะลันต์เดียวนั้นจากเขาไปให้คนที่มีสิบตะลันต์

²⁸ Take away therefore the talent from him, and give it to him who has the ten talents.

²⁹ด้วยว่าผู้ใดมีอยู่แล้ว จะเพิ่มเติมให้ผู้นั้นจนมีเหลือเฟือ แต่ผู้ที่ไม่มี แม้ว่าซึ่งเขามีอยู่ก็จะต้องเอาไปจากเขา

²⁹ For to everyone who has will be given, and he will have abundance, but from him who doesn’t have, even that which he has will be taken away.

³⁰จงเอาเจ้าผู้รับใช้ที่ไร้ประโยชน์นี้ไปทิ้งเสียที่มืดภายนอก ซึ่งที่นั่นจะมีการร้องไห้ขบเขี้ยวเคี้ยวฟัน'

³⁰ Throw out the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

³¹เมื่อบุตรมนุษย์จะเสด็จมาในสง่าราศีของพระองค์กับหมู่ทูตสวรรค์อันบริสุทธิ์ เมื่อนั้นพระองค์จะประทับบนพระที่นั่งอันรุ่งเรืองของพระองค์

³¹ “But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then he will sit on the throne of his glory.

³²บรรดาประชาชาติต่างๆจะประชุมพร้อมกันต่อพระพักตร์พระองค์ และพระองค์จะทรงแยกมนุษย์ทั้งหลายออกเป็นสองพวก เหมือนอย่างผู้เลี้ยงแกะจะแยกแกะออกจากแพะ

³² Before him all the nations will be gathered, and he will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.

³³และพระองค์จะทรงจัดฝูงแกะให้อยู่เบื้องขวาพระหัตถ์ของพระองค์ แต่ฝูงแพะนั้นจะทรงจัดให้อยู่เบื้องซ้าย

³³ He will set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

³⁴ขณะนั้น พระมหากษัตริย์จะตรัสแก่บรรดาผู้ที่อยู่เบื้องขวาพระหัตถ์ของพระองค์ว่า `ท่านทั้งหลายที่ได้รับพระพรจากพระบิดาของเรา จงมารับเอาราชอาณาจักรซึ่งได้ตระเตรียมไว้สำหรับท่านทั้งหลายตั้งแต่แรกสร้างโลกเป็นมรดก

³⁴ Then the King will tell those on his right hand, ‘Come, blessed of my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world;

³⁵เพราะว่าเมื่อเราหิว ท่านทั้งหลายก็ได้จัดหาให้เรากิน เรากระหายน้ำ ท่านก็ให้เราดื่ม เราเป็นแขกแปลกหน้า ท่านก็ได้ต้อนรับเราไว้

³⁵ for I was hungry, and you gave me food to eat. I was thirsty, and you gave me drink. I was a stranger, and you took me in.

³⁶เราเปลือยกาย ท่านก็ได้ให้เสื้อผ้าเรานุ่งห่ม เมื่อเราเจ็บป่วย ท่านก็ได้มาเยี่ยมเรา เมื่อเราต้องจำอยู่ในคุก ท่านก็ได้มาเยี่ยมเรา'

³⁶ I was naked, and you clothed me. I was sick, and you visited me. I was in prison, and you came to me.’

³⁷เวลานั้นบรรดาผู้ชอบธรรมจะกราบทูลพระองค์ว่า `พระองค์เจ้าข้า ที่ข้าพระองค์เห็นพระองค์ทรงหิว และได้จัดมาถวายแด่พระองค์แต่เมื่อไร หรือทรงกระหายน้ำ และได้ถวายให้พระองค์ดื่มแต่เมื่อไร

³⁷ “Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry, and feed you; or thirsty, and give you a drink?

³⁸ที่ข้าพระองค์ได้เห็นพระองค์ทรงเป็นแขกแปลกหน้า และได้ต้อนรับพระองค์ไว้แต่เมื่อไร หรือเปลือยพระกาย และได้สวมฉลองพระองค์ให้แต่เมื่อไร

³⁸ When did we see you as a stranger, and take you in; or naked, and clothe you?

³⁹ที่ข้าพระองค์เห็นพระองค์ประชวรหรือต้องจำอยู่ในคุก และได้มาเฝ้าพระองค์นั้นแต่เมื่อไร'

³⁹ When did we see you sick, or in prison, and come to you?’

⁴⁰แล้วพระมหากษัตริย์จะตรัสตอบเขาว่า `เราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านทั้งหลายว่า ซึ่งท่านได้กระทำแก่คนใดคนหนึ่งในพวกพี่น้องของเรานี้ถึงแม้จะต่ำต้อยเพียงไร ก็เหมือนได้กระทำแก่เราด้วย'

⁴⁰ “The King will answer them, ‘Most certainly I tell you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers The word for “brothers” here may be also correctly translated “brothers and sisters” or “siblings.” , you did it to me.’

⁴¹แล้วพระองค์จะตรัสกับบรรดาผู้ที่อยู่เบื้องซ้ายพระหัตถ์ด้วยว่า `ท่านทั้งหลาย ผู้ต้องสาปแช่ง จงถอยไปจากเราเข้าไปอยู่ในไฟซึ่งไหม้อยู่เป็นนิตย์ ซึ่งเตรียมไว้สำหรับพญามารและสมุนของมันนั้น

⁴¹ Then he will say also to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels;

⁴²เพราะว่าเมื่อเราหิว ท่านก็มิได้ให้เรากิน เรากระหายน้ำ ท่านก็มิได้ให้เราดื่ม

⁴² for I was hungry, and you didn’t give me food to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink;

⁴³เราเป็นแขกแปลกหน้า ท่านก็ไม่ได้ต้อนรับเราไว้ เราเปลือยกาย ท่านก็ไม่ได้ให้เสื้อผ้าเรานุ่งห่ม เราเจ็บป่วยและต้องจำอยู่ในคุก ท่านไม่ได้เยี่ยมเรา'

⁴³ I was a stranger, and you didn’t take me in; naked, and you didn’t clothe me; sick, and in prison, and you didn’t visit me.’

⁴⁴เขาทั้งหลายจะทูลพระองค์ด้วยว่า `พระองค์เจ้าข้า ที่ข้าพระองค์ได้เห็นพระองค์ทรงหิวหรือทรงกระหายน้ำ หรือทรงเป็นแขกแปลกหน้าหรือเปลือยพระกาย หรือประชวร หรือต้องจำอยู่ในคุก และข้าพระองค์มิได้ปรนนิบัติพระองค์นั้นแต่เมื่อไร'

⁴⁴ “Then they will also answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and didn’t help you?’

⁴⁵เมื่อนั้นพระองค์จะตรัสตอบเขาว่า `เราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านทั้งหลายว่า ซึ่งท่านมิได้กระทำแก่ผู้ต่ำต้อยที่สุดสักคนหนึ่งในพวกนี้ ก็เหมือนท่านมิได้กระทำแก่เรา'

⁴⁵ “Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Most certainly I tell you, inasmuch as you didn’t do it to one of the least of these, you didn’t do it to me.’

⁴⁶และพวกเหล่านี้จะต้องออกไปรับโทษอยู่เป็นนิตย์ แต่ผู้ชอบธรรมจะเข้าสู่ชีวิตนิรันดร์"

⁴⁶ These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
