¹และข้าพเจ้าได้ยืนอยู่ที่หาดทรายชายทะเล และเห็นสัตว์ร้ายตัวหนึ่งขึ้นมาจากทะเล มันมีเจ็ดหัวและสิบเขา ที่เขาทั้งสิบนั้นมีมงกุฎสิบอัน และมีชื่อที่เป็นคำหมิ่นประมาทจารึกไว้ที่หัวทั้งหลายของมัน

¹Then I stood on the sand of the sea. I saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having ten horns and seven heads. On his horns were ten crowns, and on his heads, blasphemous names.

²สัตว์ร้ายที่ข้าพเจ้าได้เห็นนั้น เหมือนเสือดาว และเท้าเหมือนเท้าหมี และปากเหมือนปากสิงโต และพญานาคได้ให้ฤทธิ์ของมัน และที่นั่งของมัน และสิทธิอำนาจอันใหญ่ยิ่งแก่สัตว์ร้ายนั้น

²The beast which I saw was like a leopard, and his feet were like those of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority.

³ข้าพเจ้าได้เห็นว่าหัวๆหนึ่งของสัตว์ร้ายดูเหมือนถูกฟันปางตาย แต่แผลที่ถูกฟันนั้นรักษาหายแล้ว คนทั้งโลกติดตามสัตว์ร้ายนั้นไปด้วยความอัศจรรย์ใจ

³One of his heads looked like it had been wounded fatally. His fatal wound was healed, and the whole earth marveled at the beast.

⁴เขาทั้งหลายได้บูชาพญานาคที่ได้ให้อำนาจแก่สัตว์ร้ายนั้น เขาได้บูชาสัตว์ร้ายนั้น กล่าวว่า "ใครจะเปรียบปานสัตว์นี้ได้ และใครสามารถจะทำสงครามกับสัตว์นี้ได้"

⁴They worshiped the dragon, because he gave his authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?”

⁵และยอมให้สัตว์ร้ายนั้นมีปากที่พูดคำกล่าวร้ายและหมิ่นประมาท และยอมให้มันใช้อำนาจกระทำอย่างนั้นตลอดสี่สิบสองเดือน

⁵A mouth speaking great things and blasphemy was given to him. Authority to make war for forty-two months was given to him.

⁶มันกล่าวคำหมิ่นประมาทต่อพระเจ้า เพื่อหมิ่นประมาทต่อพระนามของพระองค์ ต่อพลับพลาของพระองค์ และต่อผู้ที่อยู่ในสวรรค์

⁶He opened his mouth for blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his dwelling, those who dwell in heaven.

⁷และยอมให้มันทำสงครามกับพวกวิสุทธิชน และชนะเขา และให้มันมีอำนาจเหนือชนทุกตระกูล ทุกภาษา และทุกประชาชาติ

⁷It was given to him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them. Authority over every tribe, people, language, and nation was given to him.

⁸และบรรดาคนที่อยู่ในแผ่นดินโลกจะบูชาสัตว์ร้ายนั้น คือคนทั้งปวงที่ไม่มีชื่อจดไว้ในหนังสือแห่งชีวิตของพระเมษโปดก ผู้ทรงถูกปลงพระชนม์ตั้งแต่แรกทรงสร้างโลก

⁸All who dwell on the earth will worship him, everyone whose name has not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who has been killed.

⁹ใครมีหูก็ให้ฟังเอาเถิด

⁹If anyone has an ear, let him hear.

¹⁰ผู้ใดที่กำหนดไว้ให้ไปเป็นเชลยผู้นั้นก็จะต้องไปเป็นเชลย ผู้ใดฆ่าเขาด้วยดาบผู้นั้นก็ต้องถูกฆ่าด้วยดาบ นี่แหละคือความอดทนและความเชื่อของพวกวิสุทธิชน

¹⁰If anyone is to go into captivity, he will go into captivity. If anyone is to be killed with the sword, he must be killed. TR reads “If anyone leads into captivity, into captivity he goes. If anyone will kill with the sword, he must be killed with a sword.” instead of “If anyone has captivity, he will go into captivity. If anyone is with the sword, he must be killed.” Here is the endurance and the faith of the saints.

¹¹และข้าพเจ้าเห็นสัตว์ร้ายอีกตัวหนึ่งขึ้นมาจากแผ่นดิน มีสองเขาเหมือนลูกแกะ และพูดเหมือนพญานาค

¹¹I saw another beast coming up out of the earth. He had two horns like a lamb, and he spoke like a dragon.

¹²มันใช้อำนาจของสัตว์ร้ายตัวเดิมนั้นอย่างครบถ้วนต่อหน้าสัตว์ร้ายตัวเดิมนั้น มันทำให้โลกและคนที่อยู่ในโลกบูชาสัตว์ร้ายตัวเดิมนั้น ที่มีแผลปางตายแต่รักษาหายแล้ว

¹²He exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence. He makes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose fatal wound was healed.

¹³สัตว์ร้ายนี้แสดงการมหัศจรรย์ใหญ่ จนกระทำให้ไฟตกลงมาจากฟ้าสู่แผ่นดินโลกประจักษ์แก่ตามนุษย์ทั้งหลาย

¹³He performs great signs, even making fire come down out of the sky to the earth in the sight of people.

¹⁴มันล่อลวงคนทั้งหลายที่อยู่ในโลกด้วยการอัศจรรย์นั้น ซึ่งมันมีอำนาจกระทำท่ามกลางสายตาของสัตว์ร้ายตัวเดิมนั้น และมันสั่งให้คนทั้งหลายที่อยู่ในโลกสร้างรูปจำลองให้แก่สัตว์ร้าย ที่ถูกฟันด้วยดาบแต่ยังมีชีวิตอยู่นั้น

¹⁴He deceives my own NU omits “my own” people who dwell on the earth because of the signs he was granted to do in front of the beast; saying to those who dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast who had the sword wound and lived.

¹⁵และมันมีอำนาจที่จะให้ลมหายใจแก่รูปสัตว์นั้น เพื่อให้รูปสัตว์ร้ายนั้นทั้งพูดได้ และกระทำให้บรรดาคนที่ไม่ยอมบูชารูปสัตว์ร้ายนั้นถึงแก่ความตายได้

¹⁵It was given to him to give breath to it, to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause as many as wouldn’t worship the image of the beast to be killed.

¹⁶และมันยังได้บังคับคนทั้งปวง ทั้งผู้น้อยผู้ใหญ่ คนมั่งมีและคนจน ไทยและทาส ให้รับเครื่องหมายไว้ที่มือขวาหรือที่หน้าผากของเขา

¹⁶He causes all, the small and the great, the rich and the poor, and the free and the slave, to be given marks on their right hands, or on their foreheads;

¹⁷เพื่อไม่ให้ผู้ใดทำการซื้อขายได้ นอกจากผู้ที่มีเครื่องหมายนั้น หรือชื่อของสัตว์ร้ายนั้น หรือเลขชื่อของมัน

¹⁷and that no one would be able to buy or to sell, unless he has that mark, the name of the beast or the number of his name.

¹⁸ในเรื่องนี้จงใช้สติปัญญา ถ้าผู้ใดมีความเข้าใจก็ให้คิดตรึกตรองเลขของสัตว์ร้ายนั้น เพราะว่าเป็นเลขของบุคคลผู้หนึ่ง เลขของมันคือหกร้อยหกสิบหก

¹⁸Here is wisdom. He who has understanding, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. His number is six hundred sixty-six.
