¹ภายหลังเหตุการณ์เหล่านี้ข้าพเจ้าก็ได้เห็นทูตสวรรค์อีกองค์หนึ่งลงมาจากสวรรค์ ท่านมีอำนาจใหญ่ยิ่ง และรัศมีของท่านได้ทำให้แผ่นดินโลกสว่างไป

¹After these things, I saw another angel coming down out of the sky, having great authority. The earth was illuminated with his glory.

²ท่านได้ร้องประกาศด้วยเสียงกึกก้องว่า "บาบิโลนมหานครล่มจมแล้ว ล่มจมแล้ว กลายเป็นที่อาศัยของผีปิศาจ เป็นที่คุมขังของผีโสโครกทุกอย่าง และเป็นกรงของนกทุกอย่างที่ไม่สะอาดและน่าเกลียด

²He cried with a mighty voice, saying, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, and she has become a habitation of demons, a prison of every unclean spirit, and a prison of every unclean and hateful bird!

³เพราะว่าประชาชาติทั้งปวงได้ดื่มเหล้าองุ่นแห่งความเดือดดาลในการล่วงประเวณีของนครนั้น และบรรดากษัตริย์บนแผ่นดินโลกได้ล่วงประเวณีกับนครนั้น และพ่อค้าทั้งหลายแห่งแผ่นดินโลกก็ได้มั่งมีขึ้นด้วยทรัพย์ฟุ่มเฟือยของนครนั้น"

³For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her sexual immorality, the kings of the earth committed sexual immorality with her, and the merchants of the earth grew rich from the abundance of her luxury.”

⁴และข้าพเจ้าได้ยินเสียงอีกเสียงหนึ่งประกาศมาจากสวรรค์ว่า "ชนชาติของเรา จงออกมาจากนครนั้นเถิด เพื่อท่านทั้งหลายจะไม่มีส่วนในการบาปของนครนั้น และเพื่อท่านจะไม่ต้องรับภัยพิบัติที่จะเกิดแก่นครนั้น

⁴I heard another voice from heaven, saying, “Come out of her, my people, that you have no participation in her sins, and that you don’t receive of her plagues,

⁵เพราะว่าบาปของนครนั้นกองสูงขึ้นถึงสวรรค์แล้ว และพระเจ้าได้ทรงจำความชั่วช้าแห่งนครนั้นได้

⁵for her sins have reached to the sky, and God has remembered her iniquities.

⁶นครนั้นได้ให้ผลอย่างไร ก็จงให้ผลแก่นครนั้นอย่างนั้น และจงตอบแทนการกระทำของนครนั้นเป็นสองเท่า ในถ้วยที่นครนั้นได้ผสมไว้ก็จงผสมลงเป็นสองเท่าให้นครนั้น

⁶Return to her just as she returned, and repay her double as she did, and according to her works. In the cup which she mixed, mix to her double.

⁷นครนั้นได้เย่อหยิ่งจองหองและมีชีวิตอย่างหรูหรามากเท่าใด ก็จงให้นครนั้นได้รับการทรมานและความระทมทุกข์มากเท่านั้น เพราะว่านครนั้นทะนงใจว่า `เราดำรงอยู่ในตำแหน่งราชินี ไม่ใช่หญิงม่าย เราจะไม่ประสบความระทมทุกข์เลย'

⁷However much she glorified herself, and grew wanton, so much give her of torment and mourning. For she says in her heart, ‘I sit a queen, and am no widow, and will in no way see mourning.’

⁸เหตุฉะนั้น ภัยพิบัติต่างๆของนครนั้นจะเกิดขึ้นในวันเดียว ความตาย และความระทมทุกข์ การกันดารอาหาร และไฟจะเผานครนั้นให้พินาศหมดสิ้น เพราะว่าองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า พระเจ้า ผู้ทรงพิพากษานครนั้น ทรงอานุภาพยิ่งใหญ่"

⁸Therefore in one day her plagues will come: death, mourning, and famine; and she will be utterly burned with fire; for the Lord God who has judged her is strong.

⁹บรรดากษัตริย์แห่งแผ่นดินโลกที่ได้ล่วงประเวณีกับนครนั้น และได้มีชีวิตอย่างหรูหราร่วมกันนั้น เมื่อได้เห็นควันไฟที่ไหม้นครนั้น ก็จะพิลาปร่ำไห้คร่ำครวญเพราะนครนั้น

⁹The kings of the earth, who committed sexual immorality and lived wantonly with her, will weep and wail over her, when they look at the smoke of her burning,

¹⁰พวกกษัตริย์จะยืนอยู่แต่ห่างๆเพราะกลัวภัยแห่งการทรมานของนครนั้น และจะกล่าวว่า "อนิจจาเอ๋ย อนิจจาเอ๋ย บาบิโลนมหานครที่ยิ่งใหญ่ นครที่แข็งแรง เพราะเจ้าได้รับการพิพากษาโทษให้พินาศไปภายในชั่วโมงเดียวเท่านั้น"

¹⁰standing far away for the fear of her torment, saying, ‘Woe, woe, the great city, Babylon, the strong city! For your judgment has come in one hour.’

¹¹บรรดาพ่อค้าในแผ่นดินโลกจะร่ำไห้คร่ำครวญเพราะนครนั้น เพราะว่าไม่มีใครซื้อสินค้าของเขาอีกต่อไปแล้ว

¹¹The merchants of the earth weep and mourn over her, for no one buys their merchandise any more;

¹²สินค้าเหล่านั้นคือ ทองคำ เงิน เพชรพลอยต่างๆ ไข่มุก ผ้าป่านเนื้อละเอียด ผ้าสีม่วง ผ้าไหม ผ้าสีแดงเข้ม ไม้หอมทุกชนิด บรรดาภาชนะที่ทำด้วยงา บรรดาภาชนะไม้ที่มีราคามาก ภาชนะทองสัมฤทธิ์ ภาชนะเหล็ก ภาชนะหินอ่อน

¹²merchandise of gold, silver, precious stones, pearls, fine linen, purple, silk, scarlet, all expensive wood, every vessel of ivory, every vessel made of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble;

¹³อบเชย เครื่องเทศ เครื่องหอม กำยาน เหล้าองุ่น น้ำมัน ยอดแป้ง ข้าวสาลี สัตว์ต่างๆ แกะ ม้า รถรบ และทาส และชีวิตมนุษย์

¹³and cinnamon, incense, perfume, frankincense, wine, olive oil, fine flour, wheat, sheep, horses, chariots, and people’s bodies and souls.

¹⁴และผลซึ่งจิตของเจ้ากระหายใคร่ได้นั้นก็ล่วงพ้นไปจากเจ้าแล้ว สิ่งสารพัดอันวิเศษยิ่งและหรูหราก็พินาศไปจากเจ้าแล้ว และเจ้าจะไม่ได้พบมันอีกเลย

¹⁴The fruits which your soul lusted after have been lost to you, and all things that were dainty and sumptuous have perished from you, and you will find them no more at all.

¹⁵บรรดาพ่อค้าที่ได้ขายสิ่งของเหล่านั้น จนเป็นคนมั่งมีเพราะนครนั้น จะยืนอยู่แต่ไกลเพราะกลัวภัยจากการทรมานของนครนั้น พวกเขาจะร้องไห้คร่ำครวญด้วยเสียงดัง

¹⁵The merchants of these things, who were made rich by her, will stand far away for the fear of her torment, weeping and mourning;

¹⁶ว่า "อนิจจาเอ๋ย อนิจจาเอ๋ย มหานครนั้น ที่ได้นุ่งห่มผ้าป่านเนื้อละเอียด ผ้าสีม่วง และผ้าสีแดงเข้ม ที่ได้ประดับด้วยทองคำ เพชรพลอยต่างๆและไข่มุกนั้น

¹⁶saying, ‘Woe, woe, the great city, she who was dressed in fine linen, purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls!

¹⁷เพียงในชั่วโมงเดียว ทรัพย์สมบัติอันยิ่งใหญ่นั้นก็พินาศสูญไปสิ้น" และนายเรือทุกคน คนที่โดยสารเรือ พวกลูกเรือ และคนทั้งหลายที่มีอาชีพทางทะเล ก็ได้ยืนอยู่แต่ห่างๆ

¹⁷For in an hour such great riches are made desolate.’ Every shipmaster, and everyone who sails anywhere, and mariners, and as many as gain their living by sea, stood far away,

¹⁸และเมื่อคนเหล่านั้นได้เห็นควันไฟที่ไหม้นครนั้นก็ร้องว่า "นครใดเล่าจะเป็นเหมือนมหานครนี้"

¹⁸and cried out as they looked at the smoke of her burning, saying, ‘What is like the great city?’

¹⁹และเขาทั้งหลายก็โปรยผงคลีลงบนศีรษะของตน พลางร้องไห้คร่ำครวญว่า "อนิจจาเอ๋ย อนิจจาเอ๋ย มหานครนั้น อันเป็นที่ซึ่งคนทั้งปวงที่มีเรือกำปั่นเดินทะเลได้กลายเป็นคนมั่งมีด้วยเหตุจากสิ่งของมีค่าของนครนั้น เพราะภายในชั่วโมงเดียวนครนั้นก็เป็นที่รกร้างไป"

¹⁹They cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and mourning, saying, ‘Woe, woe, the great city, in which all who had their ships in the sea were made rich by reason of her great wealth!’ For in one hour is she made desolate.

²⁰เมืองสวรรค์ พวกอัครสาวกอันบริสุทธิ์ และพวกศาสดาพยากรณ์ทั้งหลาย จงร่าเริงยินดีเพราะนครนั้นเถิด เพราะพระเจ้าทรงแก้แค้นต่อนครนั้นให้ท่านทั้งหลายแล้ว

²⁰“Rejoice over her, O heaven, you saints, apostles, and prophets; for God has judged your judgment on her.”

²¹แล้วทูตสวรรค์องค์หนึ่งที่มีฤทธิ์มาก ก็ได้ยกหินก้อนหนึ่งเหมือนหินโม่ใหญ่ทุ่มลงไปในทะเลแล้วว่า "บาบิโลนมหานครนั้นจะถูกทุ่มลงโดยแรงอย่างนี้แหละ และจะไม่มีใครเห็นนครนั้นอีกต่อไปเลย

²¹A mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and cast it into the sea, saying, “Thus with violence will Babylon, the great city, be thrown down, and will be found no more at all.

²²และจะไม่มีใครได้ยินเสียงนักดีดพิณเขาคู่ นักเล่นมโหรี นักเป่าปี่ และนักเป่าแตร ในเจ้าอีกต่อไป และในเจ้าจะไม่มีช่างในวิชาช่างต่างๆอีกต่อไป และจะไม่มีใครได้ยินเสียงโม่แป้งในเจ้าอีกต่อไป

²²The voice of harpists, minstrels, flute players, and trumpeters will be heard no more at all in you. No craftsman, of whatever craft, will be found any more at all in you. The sound of a mill will be heard no more at all in you.

²³และในเจ้าจะไม่มีแสงประทีปส่องสว่างอีกต่อไป และจะไม่มีใครได้ยินเสียงเจ้าบ่าวเจ้าสาวในเจ้าอีกต่อไป เพราะว่าบรรดาพ่อค้าของเจ้าได้เป็นคนใหญ่โตแห่งแผ่นดินโลกแล้ว และโดยวิทยาคมของเจ้าได้ล่อลวงบรรดาประชาชาติให้ลุ่มหลง

²³The light of a lamp will shine no more at all in you. The voice of the bridegroom and of the bride will be heard no more at all in you; for your merchants were the princes of the earth; for with your sorcery all the nations were deceived.

²⁴และในนครนั้นเขาได้พบโลหิตของพวกศาสดาพยากรณ์และพวกวิสุทธิชน และบรรดาคนที่ถูกฆ่าบนแผ่นดินโลก"

²⁴In her was found the blood of prophets and of saints, and of all who have been slain on the earth.”
